Linksys Wireless Router :: Using E200 As Access Point With EA4500?

Feb 15, 2013

I am looking to extend the range in my house by replacing my E200 with an EA4500 (N900) and using the E200 as a wireless access point.  My question is, will it work even though I will have two switches between the two routers?  Second, will I be able to use all of the functionality of the new EA4500?  Specifically I want to hook up two cameras in the house?

Setup: Cable Modem --> EA4500 --> Switch (1GB) --> (1(GM) --> E200

Linksys Wireless Router :: New EA4500 And Using E1500 As Access Point?

Apr 24, 2012

I've been researching this for a day now and have just confused myself further.  Long story short, I just picked up an EA4500 and there's still a dead area in the house.  I already have one ethernet cable that's being used which runs from the one side of the house to the other.  After researching this, I believe I can set up the E1500 as an Access Point to further the range of the wireless signal via the ethernet cable and 2 routers.  I just have a few additional questions that the articles and walkthroughs I've read through didn't seem to address.

I set up the EA4500 and have 2 SSID's, one for 2.4Ghz and one for 5Ghz band.  When I set the SSID on the E1500, should I use the 2.4Ghz SSID from the EA4500 or should I reset the EA4500 to factory defaults and only use the 1 SSID instead of splitting them?  Or, should I use a totally different SSID altogether on the E1500?I think from what I read, you should use different channels for each router; does it matter which ones you use as there's not that much traffic in my area and do I need to change the channel on both bands of the EA4500?  Or can these all be left to Auto? Can you still use the ethernet ports on the AP/E1500 or are they rendered useless if you set it up in this mode?

Linksys Access Point :: EA4500 Need To Improve Home Wireless Network

Jun 6, 2012

I am trying to improve the coverage of my home network.I have Fios, and with the existing Wireless capabilities, there are several dead and low coverage areas in my house.  This is due to a combination of where my router is (Limited by input feed) and the confuration of the house.

I have CAT-5 running to most rooms, so adding wired devices is not an issue.  I went out and picked up an EA4500 router, and my plan was to convert my Fios Router to a bridge and use the EA4500 as the DHCP server.  However, even with this router, my coverage is not improved.  My preferred solution will be to get 1 or 2 additional access points that I can plug into my wired network, however, I would want to have a common SSID for the entire network.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E200 How To Configure Static Routes

Mar 30, 2012

how to configure it. So far googling and using the router's built-in help feature hasn't been of use. First off, here's my setup:NETWORK A with default gateway of 192.168.0.1 and a subnet of 255.255.255.0

NETWORK B  with default gateway of 10.10.100.1 and a subnet of 255.255.255.0

I want B to connect to A since that's where I have my domain setup with active directory.

Now from my understanding the Destination LAN IP should be the network I want to connect to, in this case 192.168.0.1. The subnet mask should be 255.255.255.0 and the default gateway should be 10.10.100.1. However, when I do this, the LinksysE200 throws out an 'Invalid Static Route" error. What am I doing wrong? Also, here is the routing table as given by the E200:

Linksys Wireless Router :: EA4500 Guest Access Does Not Connect?

Apr 18, 2013

My EA4500 has the newest firmware and is properly configured to support 20+ wireless and wired devices. It does this job well.Guest Access, however, is a problem. It works for about a day, then stops.Guests can access the login screen and enter the password. Then nothing happens. The screen appears to "load", but it does not connect.I have tried returning to default settings and reconfiguring and reupdating firmware. I have tried turning Guest Access on and off, as well as resetting the password. The only that works is rebooting the router. This is obviously not practical, especially for a contract client.

Linksys Wireless Router :: EA4500 Don't Allow To Access A Specific Website?

May 18, 2012

I just bought the new EA4500 router and I'm experiencing problems to access the my bank website [URL] I can't access this website.

I thought that the problem could be with Comcast, but I tested my Mac with a cable directly connected into the cable modem and it worked fine. I was able to access every site.

It could be a problem with browser security, but I even tested with different computers (Mac, PC's, Ipad, Smartphones) and none of them were able to access the [URL] wirelessly.

It seems something strange with the router. I tested some forum solutions (MUT, QoS) but they didn't work.

The only way I have figured out to solve this is connecting the drive directly to my laptop and erasing the configuration files created by the router when you set the shared folders, etc. then plugging again and setting all shared folders etc.

Linksys Wireless Router :: EA4500 How To Gain Access To USB Storage

Apr 10, 2013

Just got my Linksys EA4500 router today. The only confusing thing, not not well explained by Linksys . Is the USB storage set up.One thing (very important) Linksys has failed to explain how to gain access to the USB storage once connected to the router. Once the USB storage drive it set up. Or at least I think it's set up. Nothing shows up on my network page. So how am I to get access to the drive? If it don't show up?I need to know how to gain access to the USB storage drive that is connected to the Linksys router.

This is how I think it is to be set up. Again the instructions are not all that clear how to set up. And where is this widget on the homepage to be located?

Linksys Wireless Router :: EA4500 - Network Drive Only Works Without Secure Folder Access

Feb 2, 2013

I'm trying map the USB hard drive connected to my EA4500 router as a network drive in Windows 7, and it works perfectly until I enable secure folder access on the router.

After enabling secure folder access, and not changing any other settings on the router I first unmount the drive since it was set up without credentials and doesn't work that way any more.  When I try to remap the drive I use the same address, but select "Connect using different credentials"  When it prompts me for the log in info I try using the router admin account, but it fails to connect.   Windows network diagnostics tells me the device refused the connection.  I proceeded to set up an account on the router under the folder access settings with the same username, and password I use on my computer, and tried to connect it without checking "Connect using different credentials" (And typing them in manually if that matters) with the same results.

Even with secure folder access enabled I can still reach the drive just fine by typing "ftp://192.168.1.1/" into file explorer.  It prompts me for a username and password, I put in the admin credentials, and I'm in.  Even the account I created with the same username/password as my computer works this way.

After disabling secure folder access everything works perfectly fine again...  I would MUCH rather do this with it though.

Following these directions: [URL] When clicking the browse button the router shows up when secure folder access is disabled, but does not after it is enabled.  I've looked through my windows sharing settings, and haven't noticed anything that should cause problems, pretty much everything is enabled.  I've also tried turning off my firewall with no success.
