Linksys Wireless Router :: EA4500 FTP Server Remote Access Fails With Firewall
Sep 1, 2012
I tried to remotely access my disk connected to the USB port of the EA4500 and it failed until I disabled the IPv4/IPv6 SPI Firewall options. Surely, the firewall should not block the router's own FTP server!
I'm setting up WHS 2011 for the first time. Â When attempting to set up Remote Web Access, WHS continues to recoginze my E4200 model information and router IP address but delivers the message 'Remote Web Access to Your Server is Blocked'. Â Cisco and MS say the router is compatible with WHS and that it should set up through the wizard but no luck following many attempts, including manual set up of DHCP Reservation and Single Port Forwarding on ports 80/443 (not sure I did this correctly). Â I've taken the router back to default settings with the exception of enabling Remote Management under the Remote Management Access section of the Administration menu tab; tried again with the same result. Â What settings to change to make this work?
New E4200v2 @ firmware 2.0.36. The FTP server will go offline about once every 24 hours. I can revive it by simply clicking on Save in Storage/Administration or FTP Server. I don't have to change anything, just click Save. How can I keep the FTP running?  "Disk" is a 16gb USB flash memory. Formated FAT32, 1 partition, 6 users besides Admin and Guest, 2 groups besides Admin and Guest.Â
Using the FTP server built into the EA4500 firmware. I can get the FTP service to work from some computers outside my home network, but when i try to access the service from a PC within my home network i am unable to connect to the server through the WAN address.
I just setup the Linksys EA4500 router on my computer and I am able to hook up to the internet on my computer and on my Logitech Revue. How do I access the media server? It is not showing up on the Logitech Revue or my Samsung TV
I had a SSID name conflict with one of my devices and the router. I changed the routers SSID which eliminated the conflict. I noted that after changing the SSID, the name of the FTP server did not update to the new SSID. Is this an issue? I did not see any way to manually edit the FTP name. FTP works fine as is.
My router,EA4500 is blocking just one I.P address,(a game server), and I am unable to connect to the server. I have tried this on 2 different computers, reinstalled the Cisco Connect software, reset to factory defaults and it is still blocking me from getting on this server. When I by pass the router and plug directly into my modem the Server shows up fine and I am able to get on but when I put the Router back it blocks it and does not show up at all.
How to get playists to work on the EA4500 Media Server? I have the Music folder share working with a Roku Soundbridge, so now would like to copy my iTunes playlists to this folder as well. I've tried creating a .m3u file in the Music folder but the Soundbridge doesn't recognize it. I put the following one line in this file, which just points to the file stored on the disk connected to the EA4500.
I'm very disappointed with this EA4500 DLNA feature this is one of the main reasons why i got this router. My Sammy TV can detect the USB that is attached and is able to view the files in the drive but when you play any video file larger than 1gb it does not work even shuts down my TV.Only on smaller files does it work flawlessly I know its not the TV because I have played those files on my previous Router (Netgear WNDR3800)Â Â and they even work when i connect the hard drive directly to the TV has any one else had this issue happen to them?
I am trying to stream movies and music to my Panasonic TV. I have a USB hard drive connected to the EA4500.  The TV sees the media on the device and music plays fine. However, every movie I've tried shows up with an exclamation point and when I try to play it I get a message to the effect that "unable to open media". Is the EA4500 media server only compatible with certain movies?
dlna server of ea4500 does not supports time seeking? No rewind? I have tryed to plug usb-flash with video files for testing before buying an external HDD and... REALLY no time seeking?
EA 4500 seems to work fine. Have a Seagate 3 TB HD connecfed to USB. Have LG Smart box connected to EA4500 by Cat5e cable. HD hard drive contents shows and accesses ok on PC via wireless. Smart box showed HD but only media files in "documents" directory, did not show "TV" & "Movies" directories.
Reset Router Media Server Access with "TV" & "Movies" directories - presto LG smarbow showed directories now and worked fine. This morning will no longer show "TV" & "Movies" directories on Smart box. Have tried deleting and resetting Router Media Server Access with "TV" & "Movies" directories several times, no luck.
I added some files to the hard drive which is connected to EA4500 by USB. I went to the Storage--Media Server Tab and clicked Scan All. I turned on the TV and pointed the DLNA Media Server at the hard drive. Â The new files did not show up. They did show up a few hours later. Does the Scan button do anything?
I would like to allow remote access to a windows server through a ASA (5505) firewall. Users will use the vpn connection in order to connect to a private network. Is there any link that describes the steps for ASDM?
I recently purchased an EA4500 Cisco Wireless Router. I installed the software from the setup CD, however I cannot access the internet. All my devices (Iphone, etc) can access the router but the router cannot access the internet. Mac OS X 10.6.8
Got a new EA4500 for Xmas. After setting up the new router I could only access you tube and Google at a very slow speed, however I can not access any other website - Facebook, yahoo and etc... it would ping yahoo and Google no problem friend told me to do a tracer to some ip address and his conclusion was the router is fully functional  ISP uses PPPoE, Im sure that the username and password are correct. upgraded to the latest firmware manually, and holy hell accessing the router with no internet access.
I have an EA4500 wireless router. Would like to allow guest access to the internet without requiring a password. Is this possible, and if so, how? I know how to set the guest password, but it won't let me set it to be blank.
My EA4500 has the newest firmware and is properly configured to support 20+ wireless and wired devices. It does this job well.Guest Access, however, is a problem. It works for about a day, then stops.Guests can access the login screen and enter the password. Then nothing happens. The screen appears to "load", but it does not connect.I have tried returning to default settings and reconfiguring and reupdating firmware. I have tried turning Guest Access on and off, as well as resetting the password. The only that works is rebooting the router. This is obviously not practical, especially for a contract client.
I purchased Linksys EA4500 and after I connected to my yahoo mail web address does not work ...The router only blocks access to some websites including [URL], and [URL] configuring the router -Â connection without the router works perfectly?
I have had my router for about a month and all the wireless lan stuff seems to be brilliant. Recently I signed up to an ISP (Plusnet), and can't access most websites. The ISP has told me that I should take this up with my Router company. I seem to be having the exact same problems as this guy was having [url]....
I just bought the new EA4500 router and I'm experiencing problems to access the my bank website [URL] I can't access this website. Â I thought that the problem could be with Comcast, but I tested my Mac with a cable directly connected into the cable modem and it worked fine. I was able to access every site. Â It could be a problem with browser security, but I even tested with different computers (Mac, PC's, Ipad, Smartphones) and none of them were able to access the [URL] wirelessly. Â It seems something strange with the router. I tested some forum solutions (MUT, QoS) but they didn't work.
I upgraded from a E2000 to a EA4500 today and I am experiencing slow wired WAN speeds. On my E2000 I get approximately 60Mbps down and approximately 2Mbps up, and when switching over to the EA4500, I can only manage about 20Mbps down and about 2Mbps up. I can switch back and forth between routers and replicate the results every time
I have a 500 GB HD connected to the router to the usb port and It bothers me that whenever electricity fails in our city and it comes back I can still navigate and access my files on the LAN from the hard drive, but I lose the connection to the router management either by my smart phone application or by accesing trought my laptop. The only way I have figured out to solve this is connecting the drive directly to my laptop and erasing the configuration files created by the router when you set the shared folders, etc. then plugging again and setting all shared folders etc.
I am looking to extend the range in my house by replacing my E200 with an EA4500 (N900) and using the E200 as a wireless access point. Â My question is, will it work even though I will have two switches between the two routers? Â Second, will I be able to use all of the functionality of the new EA4500? Â Specifically I want to hook up two cameras in the house? Â Setup: Cable Modem --> EA4500 --> Switch (1GB) --> (1(GM) --> E200
Just got my Linksys EA4500 router today. The only confusing thing, not not well explained by Linksys . Is the USB storage set up.One thing (very important) Linksys has failed to explain how to gain access to the USB storage once connected to the router. Once the USB storage drive it set up. Or at least I think it's set up. Nothing shows up on my network page. So how am I to get access to the drive? If it don't show up?I need to know how to gain access to the USB storage drive that is connected to the Linksys router.
This is how I think it is to be set up. Again the instructions are not all that clear how to set up. And where is this widget on the homepage to be located? Â
Do you plan to support L2TP protocols Dual access.and / or the ability to enter static ip address (as in pptp) to connect l2tp.in Russia in the past few years, dominated by the type of connection L2TP Dual access, ie provider gives the internal ip address (static), and address of the VPN DNS server. to access the Internet using a protocol l2tp.as the network provider has the internal resources, which can be accessed if the router supports dual atstsess.of the protocol pptp providers moving away.
How to access their router using Safari on a Mac or an iPhone or an iPad? Â A few weeks ago, Linksys was aware of this as an issue and I wonder if anyone has been successful using these browsers.
I've been researching this for a day now and have just confused myself further. Â Long story short, I just picked up an EA4500 and there's still a dead area in the house. Â I already have one ethernet cable that's being used which runs from the one side of the house to the other. Â After researching this, I believe I can set up the E1500 as an Access Point to further the range of the wireless signal via the ethernet cable and 2 routers. Â I just have a few additional questions that the articles and walkthroughs I've read through didn't seem to address. Â I set up the EA4500 and have 2 SSID's, one for 2.4Ghz and one for 5Ghz band. Â When I set the SSID on the E1500, should I use the 2.4Ghz SSID from the EA4500 or should I reset the EA4500 to factory defaults and only use the 1 SSID instead of splitting them? Â Or, should I use a totally different SSID altogether on the E1500?I think from what I read, you should use different channels for each router; does it matter which ones you use as there's not that much traffic in my area and do I need to change the channel on both bands of the EA4500? Â Or can these all be left to Auto? Can you still use the ethernet ports on the AP/E1500 or are they rendered useless if you set it up in this mode?
Have just changed my E4200 to EA4500 but can my computer has not IE access. Both router has same settings and the mac adr are both in the modem at the local cabel firm.
I just switched to the EA4500 Router and I'm now unable to remotely access my camera devices.  I have done the port forward.  I can access the cameras from my local LAN both when using the local 10. ..and external 99 .. Addresses.  When I go off the local connection -  Access does not work. Slingbox did its auto configuration and I can access it.  I just cant get to camera devices (Panosonic, Foscam, etc.). Â
