Linksys Wireless Router :: EA4500 Losing Internet Access When Enabling Port Forwarding Method
Jul 30, 2012
This is my second post today trying to fix the NAT types for my 2 xbox 360. I tried the port forwarding method but with this router when I enable the ports I lost internet access in my wired devices but my wireless devices still have internet access. I even lost internet access on my computer. I never had manu problems with a router trying to get my NAT type open on my 2 xbox.
I have recently purchased an EA4500 router. I assigned my sons XBOX a static IP via DHCP reservation (outside of the standard DHCP range). I set up single port forwarding on all the standard xbox required ports. Once I click the "enabled" box, I am unable to access the internet from any of the computers connected to the router. If I uncheck the enable box, I am instantly able to access the internet.
I recently opened the ports used by Xbox Live: Port 88 (UDP)Port 3074 (UDP and TCP)Port 53 (UDP and TCP)Port 80 (TCP)I am able to use xbox live once these ports are opened but once they are enabled, I can not get wireless internet. The xbox is connected to the router with a cable so it isn't experiencing this probem. My laptop and phone are able to identify the network and join but there is no internet access. Â If I disable these ports, everything goes back to normal.
I have a CISCO modem from SHAW set as bridge. I recently bought a CISCO EA4500 which got automatically upgrade to the current Firmware 2.0.37 after connecting it to my ISP. After a few days I noticed my internet speed was slow. When I checked the router I saw it flipped from 1Gb to 100Mb. Called Shaw they could not figure this one out, while waiting I decided to turn everything off / on and internet port came back to 1Gb. 2 days later same thing again, I just turned off both the modem and EA500 router. Â A couple of days later again same problem but this time I just turned EA4500 off/on and internet port came back on with 1Gb.Otherwise I will have to turn this one back in to the store for an exchange.
I bought a EA4500 to replace my old WRT54G earlier this year. At first the router worked fine. After the automatic firmware upgrade to Cisco Connect Cloud, I was never able to get the Connect Cloud stuff to work, constant 500 Internal Server errors when trying to access the router with the Internet cable attached. Â So I downgraded back to the old firmware and all was well again. Then I started having problems a few months ago, when I would wake up in the morning, the router would be cycling the Internet port on and off. I could usually reboot everything and it would work the rest of the day. I lived with it like this a while, and support couldn't seem to find anything wrong. Eventually it started getting worse, until the point I could hardly ever get it to stay connected. I got Cisco to RA the old router and I figured problem solved. Now while the EA4500 was gone, I used my WRT54G again, and everything worked fine for nearly two weeks while I was waiting on the replacement EA4500.
So today the new EA4500 showed up, I connected and configured it, and it worked for a short time. Then suddenly I lost Internet, looked up at the modem and the LAN light was going on and off every few seconds. So I'm back in the same boat as before.I've tried changing cables, same setup works fine with the WRT54G. Modem works fine with WRT54G and connected directly to the computer, zero problems. I tried lowering the MTU, turning on MAC address cloning, and various other things. My modem is a HughesNet HN9000.
I recently upgraded my Wild blue internet service to the "Exede" system. When I kept losing the connection to my Mac Air book, the Wild blue service tech suggested that my wireless router (Linksys Wireless G 2.4 GHz router) was not robust enough to handle the increased "speed". They recommended I purchase a new router so I purchased the Linksys EA4500.  Now, after three weeks, the Linksys EA4500 router has stopped working. I am able to hook one of our Mac Books directly to the satellite modem to access the internet through an Ethernet connection. Finally, I finally reconnected my old Linksys Wireless G router to the modem to check to see if it would work and it does.  So, I'm wondering about the failure rate of the new Linksys EA4500 routers? Is there anything else I might try to get my new router to work??? I have unplugged it for an hour and then re connected it. I have pushed the reset button..My wireless indicator on the Mac Book Air shows full signal strength, but I can't connect to the internet with my new (less than 3 weeks old) router.
My EA4500 is not working. The power indicator light is on but the green and yellow lights on the Internet port are not flashing and the modem the EA4500 is connected to show no activity on that port. Also, the EA4500 is not broadcasting so I can't even connect to it to use Cisco Connect to troubleshoot. I tried resetting it but it did nothing. This has happened before but is usally fixed with a reset.
I am wanting to access my IP camera over the Internet. I am not a computer wiz by any stretch and after a couple of failed attempts. My ISP is Comcast and they say that I have dynamic dns and should have no issues viewing my cameras. I know how to get to the port forwarding area of the router but am confused as to which ports to forward. The set up instructions for the camera (Airsight) suck. Screen shots of the set up don't match the actual router
I am trying to forward a port to see a camera over the internet. Â On the single port forwarding screen under Gaming, I have put in port 8090 (Ext and Int),Protocal both, an IP address and Enabled. Â I have also tried putting in a range, but neither seems to work. Â After forwarding the port, I check with What's My IP Addrewss to get the external IP, then put the IP in a blank browser page with and without the port number. Â I have tried this several times without any result. Â
I recently purchased an EA4500 Cisco Wireless Router. I installed the software from the setup CD, however I cannot access the internet. All my devices (Iphone, etc) can access the router but the router cannot access the internet. Mac OS X 10.6.8
How to access their router using Safari on a Mac or an iPhone or an iPad? Â A few weeks ago, Linksys was aware of this as an issue and I wonder if anyone has been successful using these browsers.
Any problems with the guest network on the ea4500 with the cloud firmware?  I am losing guest clients after about 24 hours and the re-authentication fails. you enter the guest  password and nothing happens until you reboot the router.Â
I just got an EA4500 and I really like it. I set it up with my printer, tested a few things and everything is working perfectly fine. The problem I'm having now is that when I plug a flashdrive to the USB I don't know how to access it. For some reason when I go to the settings under USB Storage it says "There is no drive in the USB Port". It tells me to click refresh but that doesn't seem to work. Â I'm running firmware version 2.1.39.145204
When accessing the E3200 router using then ERROR 501.Not Implemented. That method is not implemented. The error occured after enabling the "Local Management Access, Access via: HTTPS" option on the Administration > Management tab.I tried different browsers FireFox (version 10), Internet Explorer (version 8,9), the same error was displayed and no acces granted to the E3200 router. I reseted the router and tried the latest firmware 1.0.03 build 9Â Feb 1, 2012, but after enablib the option the issue occured again and it is not possible to connect to the router.
Background: currently have a WRT320N, thinking of upgrading to an EA4500 assuming ONE feature has been improved: Port Forwarding.  Scenario: Currently I have a WRT320N router, and while it "does everything we need" it has one limitation that is now getting in the way: limitation on number of forwardable ports.  In the port forwarding panel, it has 15 total rows: the first five rows can be enabled for specificaly named services (SMTP, FTP, etc).  The last 10 rows are fully customizable in that we can set the name, ports and protocol.  The problem is that of the 13 total ports I currently need to forward, only ONE of them is listed in that fixed list.  So, sadly, I can only use one of those first five rows.  I've now filled the remaining ten custom rows, and still have need for two additional ports (for now, may need more down the road).  Trying to get creative, I figured maybe I could just spill over to the Port Range Forwarding page and add a row or two there.  The only problem: it's buggy.  I've found that if the Single Port Forwarding list is filled, then the Port Forwarding Range entries don't work properly.  For example, if I wanted ports 12345 and 12346 forwarded to 192.168.1.5, they work fine with two single port forwarding entries.  However, if I delete those, add two other port lines I need forwarded (the single list being full again), and add a port forwarding range 12345..12346, they don't work properly, ports just are closed. Only the singles work, the ranges don't.  Question: Has the EA4500 resolved this issue and allow for either more lines (i.e. 20 customizable entries instead of 10), or, better, does it just have an [Add Entry] button to allow for additional rows to be created?  In today's day and age, where one single device (such as an Xbox) can take four rows, a 10-row limit is pretty sparse.  Comparing it to some competitors, for example the D-Link DIR-825 (aging, but still great) allows you to add as many as you want.  I realize "expensive" firewalls like SonicWall's have virtually unlimited customization, but I don't need many of the additional features and don't want to spend $350 on a "high-end" firewall to solve the problem of needing two more ports open.
I am finding it impossible to set up port forwarding. No matter what I do I remain completely stealthed when I do a port probe via [URL]... The only way I seem to be able to open a port is if I enable remote management. When I do that, whatever port I specifiy as the remote management port is then fully open. Obviously, I can't leave a port exposed like this and, anyway, I need to open multiple ports for my purposes.
I use modem and router to connect to the internet. When I connect my PC directly to modem port forwarding is working. When I connect my PC through my router the port is closed. I followed instruction for port forwarding.
I'm trying to port forward with the Linksys BEFW11S4, I've followed all the instruction from support website. I went to the Application & Gaming then Port Range Forwarding. I changed the settings so I can access this IP remotely. When I try to log into this IP from a different network it wont let me.
I am trying to port forward my Linksys e4200 router v 1.0.04. However, it is not successful for when ever I check if the ports are open they fail they test. Â I am sure that I am doing the actual port forwarding correctly (I hope), but something is refraining the ports from being open.
I am trying to install and use EchoLink on my pc's and they require port forwarding for 5198-5200 but I'm having trouble with theTo IP Address" as I don't know what # to use. It says I can't use 192.168.1.1 since it's the same as the LAN IP address so what do I use? I am trying to follow the instructions on [URL]  If I leave it just as 192.168.1. it won't accept it and if I use any other number, it accepts it but I still can't get through.
My first issue with this device is when I try to untick NAT to disable it I lose my internet connection. This also disables access to router's address 192.168.1.1 forcing me to reset the device and set it up all over again. Why is this happening? I tried this at least five times with the same result. Second question I have is if the DHCP reservation is the right option if I want to forward ports for certain applications like Vuze? When the DHCP reservation window opens I see all my wireless devices in the list (laptop, phone) but not the main computer which is connected through ethernet port. But that is yet another problem. Â I've got a cable modem, connection is set to Automatic DHCP and I all want is to disable all firewalls, NAT and other unnecessary protection that's slowing my internet speed, set up MAC address filtering, port forwarding and close this terrible software so I never have to see it or think about it ever again.
I just bought a WRT120N wireless router, and have run into some strange problems with port forwarding. I have a two router setup, because my ISP have set it up so i can only use my router from them to get my connection, and then i just have that one connected to my WRT120N. So my setup looks like the following: Â The problem is that ONLY the three first ports works. I have forwarded them in the exact same manner, give it a name, put in the same external and internal port, and enable the port forwarding, but according ot can you seeme.org, only 4667, 6112, and 4669 can be seen, the rest is not responding. I even tried to enable port 21, which is a default setting in the router, but it will just not work.I have of course tried to reboot both router and PC, upgraded the routers firmware, but no luck.
I'm a happy user of the E4200 for a few weeks now, and all in all it's a very robust and useful router.Within my network I have a webserver running using both HTTP (TCP 80) and HTTPS (TCP 443). I want to make this webserver available to the internet and so I configure port forwarding to forward port TCP 80 and TCP 443 to my internal webserver. As soon as I now apply these settings, I loose connection to the webinterface of the E4200 and get connected to my internal webserver. I would expect the router would only forward connections coming in through the external interface of the router, however this is apparently not the case (or at least not in my setup). So I tried setting up remote management on a different port to at least allow me to remotely manage the router, but this does not work from my internal network. Â Right now, I'm assuming I'm doing something wrong, or have miss-configured something. Is it possible to switch the webadmin port to a different port (like 8080 and 8443)?
I've read over the FAQ and followed the normal instructions for port forwarding, but can't seem to get it to work with this particular router, E2500. I have tried both the single port forwarding and the multi port range forwarding, and neither works. I've tried an older WRT54G router and port forwarding works fine on it, so I know it's not my ISP.I'm running the latest firmware provided by Linksys/Cisco.Â
I recently got a e2500 router and set up the port forwarding for my ps3. But then i go to check the ports to see if they are open and they all stay closed.I have no clue whats wrong as I have entered the port forwarding info correctly as I got guideline from portforward.com but still no luck
I'm trying to forward my ports and I've been following a guide from [URL]. It's simple, but it's not working for me. I couldn't find my router on their list, so I'm assuming the worst and that it's not supported for the Port Forwarding. I just went with the normal WRT54G without the version 8 and tried it that way, I didn't get anything out of that either. It keeps telling me that the port isn't open and I can't receive the information packets that they're sending me.Â
Im going to change my NAT status to "open" on my xbox 360, but I don't have access to the router I think. Its my grandmas internet and im going to be here for 10 days so it could be nice if you could tell me the username and password so i can open the ports?

Installed my new EA4500 and trying to access my PC from internet (remote desktop) in order to do so I need to forward the TCP port 3389. In the old web admin page this option was easy to find and change. with the new cloud connect I can't find it. how do Ienable port forwarding on the EA4500?Â
I have a virtual machine running in my desktop which connected on the gigabit lan port on EA4500 with firmware 2.0.37.What I want to be able to do forward a port that came from an external ipv4 address to the ipv6 address and a different port to my virtual machine (to remote desktop port 3389).The reason I want to convert the traffic to ipv6 is because virtual machine is running vpn and is not reacheable through ipv4 (unless bunch of routes are setup and things get complicated etc). I verified my phsical server and virtual server get both ipv6 ip addresses through ipv6 tunnel from comcast. Without tunneling I could not get ipv6 setup using automatic mode with comcast, it simply did not work for some reason.
I'm trying to set up my WRT54G wireless router so.i can port forward the relevant ports for my programs. I understand that you have to set up a static ip address before you can do a port forward which makes sense as you do not want to keep changing the ip address for the forwarding settings every time your network refreshes. But I cant seem to have it set up. And is there a rule that the static ip that you set should not be within the dhcp range? After setting up the static ip and setting up the port forward settings how do I test if the port is being forwarded correctly?
I set up my new E4200 to forward port 7300 to a computer on my LAN. I had this working on my Linksys WRT160N and copied all of the settings so they are identical to those on that router but forwarding does not work. I have tried single port forwarding, multiple port forwarding and even DMZ with the same lack of results.
Im trying to open up some ports on my e3000 for the use of Teamspeak and my Teamspeak server. However when i get of the information filled into the single port forwarding under the Gaming & Applications tab, and click save settings. The page just refreshes, with none of the changes being saved.
