Linksys Wireless Router :: EA4500 / Port Forwarding Disables Internet Access?

Sep 18, 2012

I have recently purchased an EA4500 router. I assigned my sons XBOX a static IP via DHCP reservation (outside of the standard DHCP range). I set up single port forwarding on all the standard xbox required ports. Once I click the "enabled" box, I am unable to access the internet from any of the computers connected to the router. If I uncheck the enable box, I am instantly able to access the internet.

Linksys Wireless Router :: EA3500 - Port Forwarding Interferes Internet Access

Jul 12, 2012

I recently opened the ports used by Xbox Live: Port 88 (UDP)Port 3074 (UDP and TCP)Port 53 (UDP and TCP)Port 80 (TCP)I am able to use xbox live once these ports are opened but once they are enabled, I can not get wireless internet. The xbox is connected to the router with a cable so it isn't experiencing this probem. My laptop and phone are able to identify the network and join but there is no internet access.

If I disable these ports, everything goes back to normal.

Linksys Wireless Router :: EA4500 Off / On And Internet Port Came Back On With 1Gb

May 26, 2012

I have a CISCO modem from SHAW set as bridge. I recently bought a CISCO EA4500 which got automatically upgrade to the current Firmware 2.0.37 after connecting it to my ISP. After a few days I noticed my internet speed was slow. When I checked the router I saw it flipped from 1Gb to 100Mb. Called Shaw they could not figure this one out, while waiting I decided to turn everything off / on and internet port came back to 1Gb. 2 days later same thing again, I just turned off both the modem and EA500 router.  A couple of days later again same problem but this time I just turned EA4500 off/on and internet port came back on with 1Gb.Otherwise I will have to turn this one back in to the store for an exchange.

Linksys Wireless Router :: EA4500 Internet Port Cycles On And Off Every Few Seconds

Oct 22, 2012

I bought a EA4500 to replace my old WRT54G earlier this year. At first the router worked fine. After the automatic firmware upgrade to Cisco Connect Cloud, I was never able to get the Connect Cloud stuff to work, constant 500 Internal Server errors when trying to access the router with the Internet cable attached.  So I downgraded back to the old firmware and all was well again. Then I started having problems a few months ago, when I would wake up in the morning, the router would be cycling the Internet port on and off. I could usually reboot everything and it would work the rest of the day. I lived with it like this a while, and support couldn't seem to find anything wrong. Eventually it started getting worse, until the point I could hardly ever get it to stay connected. I got Cisco to RA the old router and I figured problem solved. Now while the EA4500 was gone, I used my WRT54G again, and everything worked fine for nearly two weeks while I was waiting on the replacement EA4500.

So today the new EA4500 showed up, I connected and configured it, and it worked for a short time. Then suddenly I lost Internet, looked up at the modem and the LAN light was going on and off every few seconds. So I'm back in the same boat as before.I've tried changing cables, same setup works fine with the WRT54G. Modem works fine with WRT54G and connected directly to the computer, zero problems. I tried lowering the MTU, turning on MAC address cloning, and various other things. My modem is a HughesNet HN9000.

This has happened before but is usally fixed with a reset.

Linksys Wireless Router :: EA4500 - There Is No Drive In USB Port

Feb 7, 2013

I just got an EA4500 and I really like it. I set it up with my printer, tested a few things and everything is working perfectly fine. The problem I'm having now is that when I plug a flashdrive to the USB I don't know how to access it. For some reason when I go to the settings under USB Storage it says "There is no drive in the USB Port". It tells me to click refresh but that doesn't seem to work.

I'm running firmware version 2.1.39.145204

Linksys Wireless Router :: EA4500 Maximum Number Of Port Forwards

Apr 19, 2012

Background: currently have a WRT320N, thinking of upgrading to an EA4500 assuming ONE feature has been improved: Port Forwarding.

Scenario: Currently I have a WRT320N router, and while it "does everything we need" it has one limitation that is now getting in the way: limitation on number of forwardable ports.  In the port forwarding panel, it has 15 total rows: the first five rows can be enabled for specificaly named services (SMTP, FTP, etc).  The last 10 rows are fully customizable in that we can set the name, ports and protocol.

The problem is that of the 13 total ports I currently need to forward, only ONE of them is listed in that fixed list.  So, sadly, I can only use one of those first five rows.  I've now filled the remaining ten custom rows, and still have need for two additional ports (for now, may need more down the road).

Trying to get creative, I figured maybe I could just spill over to the Port Range Forwarding page and add a row or two there.  The only problem: it's buggy.  I've found that if the Single Port Forwarding list is filled, then the Port Forwarding Range entries don't work properly.  For example, if I wanted ports 12345 and 12346 forwarded to 192.168.1.5, they work fine with two single port forwarding entries.  However, if I delete those, add two other port lines I need forwarded (the single list being full again), and add a port forwarding range 12345..12346, they don't work properly, ports just are closed. Only the singles work, the ranges don't.

Question: Has the EA4500 resolved this issue and allow for either more lines (i.e. 20 customizable entries instead of 10), or, better, does it just have an [Add Entry] button to allow for additional rows to be created?  In today's day and age, where one single device (such as an Xbox) can take four rows, a 10-row limit is pretty sparse.  Comparing it to some competitors, for example the D-Link DIR-825 (aging, but still great) allows you to add as many as you want.

I realize "expensive" firewalls like SonicWall's have virtually unlimited customization, but I don't need many of the additional features and don't want to spend $350 on a "high-end" firewall to solve the problem of needing two more ports open.

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT610N - Way To Set Up Port Forwarding

Jun 26, 2012

I am finding it impossible to set up port forwarding. No matter what I do I remain completely stealthed when I do a port probe via [URL]... The only way I seem to be able to open a port is if I enable remote management. When I do that, whatever port I specifiy as the remote management port is then fully open. Obviously, I can't leave a port exposed like this and, anyway, I need to open multiple ports for my purposes.

Linksys Wireless Router :: EA2700 - NAT And Port Forwarding?

Feb 6, 2013

My first issue with this device is when I try to untick NAT to disable it I lose my internet connection. This also disables access to router's address 192.168.1.1 forcing me to reset the device and set it up all over again. Why is this happening? I tried this at least five times with the same result. Second question I have is if the DHCP reservation is the right option if I want to forward ports for certain applications like Vuze? When the DHCP reservation window opens I see all my wireless devices in the list (laptop, phone) but not the main computer which is connected through ethernet port. But that is yet another problem.

I've got a cable modem, connection is set to Automatic DHCP and I all want is to disable all firewalls, NAT and other unnecessary protection that's slowing my internet speed, set up MAC address filtering, port forwarding and close this terrible software so I never have to see it or think about it ever again.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Port Forwarding On A WRT120N

Nov 1, 2009

I just bought a WRT120N wireless router, and have run into some strange problems with port forwarding. I have a two router setup, because my ISP have set it up so i can only use my router from them to get my connection, and then i just have that one connected to my WRT120N. So my setup looks like the following:

The problem is that ONLY the three first ports works. I have forwarded them in the exact same manner, give it a name, put in the same external and internal port, and enable the port forwarding, but according ot can you seeme.org, only 4667, 6112, and 4669 can be seen, the rest is not responding. I even tried to enable port 21, which is a default setting in the router, but it will just not work.I have of course tried to reboot both router and PC, upgraded the routers firmware, but no luck.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 Port Forwarding On TCP / 80 And 443

Aug 31, 2012

I'm a happy user of the E4200 for a few weeks now, and all in all it's a very robust and useful router.Within my network I have a webserver running using both HTTP (TCP 80) and HTTPS (TCP 443). I want to make this webserver available to the internet and so I configure port forwarding to forward port TCP 80 and TCP 443 to my internal webserver. As soon as I now apply these settings, I loose connection to the webinterface of the E4200 and get connected to my internal webserver. I would expect the router would only forward connections coming in through the external interface of the router, however this is apparently not the case (or at least not in my setup). So I tried setting up remote management on a different port to at least allow me to remotely manage the router, but this does not work from my internal network.

Right now, I'm assuming I'm doing something wrong, or have miss-configured something. Is it possible to switch the webadmin port to a different port (like 8080 and 8443)?
