View 1 RepliesI have a linksys system WRT54G at home. I had no problems with the Linksys router until about a month ago when I decided to make it a secure network. I run three computers of the wireless router (1 desktp and 2 laptops) Since making the wireless network secure I can not connect with my business laptop IBM Thinkpad X40, but thother e computers work just fine.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a ASA 5505 configured with three VLANs: Inside, Outside, and DMZ.I am running an exchange server on the Inside network and have configured NAT to allow connections to it from outside. This works fine. I can also happily connect to it using it's internal address from the inside. In the DMZ I have setup a linksys router to work as a guest wifi network. I configured the ASA to block any traffic from the DMZ to the internal network. This has been working fine for the last few weeks.Wireless users cannot access any internal resoureces, but can browse the internet etc.. etc..
My problem is that I want users to be able to connect to the wireless with smartphones, tablets etc..., if they do so, they can access the internet, but not get their email. From my (limited) understanding, the problem is that the ip address I am trying to connect to is the same ip that I am transmitting from. Is there any way to send the packets to the outside network and then loop them back to the exchange server?
I have a Netgear Rangemax Dual Band Wireless-N Gigabit Router (model WNDR3700). I used to live in a small place so I connected my external hard drive direct to my laptop. However, now that I have a bigger place i want to connect the ext hard drive to the router so I can take my computer where I want. However, I cannot connect the hard drive to the router. I can plug it into the router, of course, but it will not appear under the Network folders (I use Window's Vista).

I have already set up dns doctoring for dns lookups, and everything is working fine there. We have an application inside the network that tries to connect straight to the external Ip of another internal server. where to look in the ASDM 6.4?
View 2 Replies View RelatedThis is a problem i had after i reinstalled windows vista on my laptop. I recently reinstalled windows vista onto a laptop. The laptop is unable to find the router. I checked the drivers, and i am not sure if im missing any. There is a yellow mark on my network controller, but there is no description or details for it. The internet works while connected to an etherent cable directly to my router. I went to the manufacture website (dell), and downloaded/updated the drivers. I ran PC diagnostics and the wireless still doesn't work.

I tried using the fhile sharing wizard, (right clicking and "include in library" and a link does appear. I try right clicking and "share with homegroup" in the libraries tree.I get an error: "The File Sharing Wizard can't share the root of a drive"With some research, I've set the HDD sharing on (checked the "share this folder" box) and under Security set it to "everyone".When I get to the laptop, I see the link to My Book in Homegroup. But there's nothing in it.

connect my partner's laptop to my wireless network?
The router is a Sagem provided by my ISP (Sky). The wireless connection works fine on my MacBook, and various other devices connect no problem with the security key.
However, his laptop (Windows Vista) will not connect wirelessly. After entering the password, it says it can't connect because it 'times out' (we are obviously entering the password immediately with no delay). It connects fine with an ethernet cable. It will also connect to an unsecured wireless network we can pick up.
The security setup is WPA-PSK with TKIP encryption, and we've made sure he is using these settings.
If it might be important, he has just moved here, and previously his laptop was connected to another Sky router with no problems.
I tried to set up an ad hoc access point on my laptop, but it won't connect to the network I made. I'm using xp sp3.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to connect my XP laptop to a home wireless network and I keep getting the following error once I enter in the passcode provided by my ISP:The network passcode needs to be 40bits or 104bits depending on your network configuration. This can be entered as 5 or 13 ascii characters or 10 or 26 hexadecimal characters.I have an iphone, 3 ipads, one windows 7 pc and a mac connected to the network with no problems. The password provided by the ISP is 25 characters (letters and numbers). I would hate to have to change the password on all my devices for one Windows XP laptop. I've called Netgear who make the wireless router and they said the only solution was to change the password for all devices.

At home i have a desktop Pc connected to the internet via ethernet, to a bt homehub, on the same homehub i also have a laptop connected to it but using the wireless connection. Both pcs are using windows 7.
I`m trying to file share between these 2 computers using a homegroup, but neither recognises another homegroup on their network. Is this because i`m not using the same connection method ( wirelss and wired) ? Even though both connections are going through the same Hub? I`ve tried renaming the homegroups on both pcs to the same name to see if that works, but it seems both pcs are on different networks. clear lack of pc intelligence, networking not really my thing.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to connect to the internet via a wireless connection, I select the connection I want and it says it's connected.
However when I go to the wireless connection properties it is sending but not receiving and it won't connect to the internet. I went to the CMD and typed in IPCONFIG and get the message saying my "Media Not Connected."
I have pushed the green button on the router so my laptop can pick up the settings but it still won't connect. Also, I took my laptop to my friends house and was able to connect on their wireless.
I am on Windows Vista.
I've been having a problem with my wifi for a month or so. I used to connect well to my wifi, but then one day my laptop just can't connect to it anymore. It says "windows was unable to connect to" or something similar to that. But what's strange is, I have an external wifi adapter (Tenda 802.11n, it looks like an USB flash drive). I use this adapter to connect to Wifi with the very same password, and it can connect perfectly. Signal strength is around the same level.I tried using windows troubleshooter, didn't work. I borrowed my friend's laptop (which is very modern, and have windows 7 - mine has windows XP), but the same problem exists: the laptop can't connect, but the adapter can.I also tried to export the wifi settings to an USB flash drive (using windows 7's function), and installed it on the laptops. Didn't work. [code]

It says wireless connections are available but will not connect to ours. My husbands laptop has not been affected. What could have happened to the laptop for it to suddenly stop connecting?

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy laptop (Windows 7) has problems connecting the the wireless network at my school. I can connect fine at home. When I get to school, my laptop picks up the internet - there is internet connection/wireless. But I cannot access the internet after I open the web browser. As a school policy, as soon as the browser is open, it is directed automatically to a "Web Authentication" page. But my laptop does not allow it to connect to that page.
I asked the IT technician at school and he said that there is a problem with the DNS connecting automatically. He changed the settings to do so, but when he opens the network protocol again, the DNS is changed back to a preferred DNS number and it will not allow me to automatically pick up the DNS when I am at school. (Once again, it works fine at home).
I recently upgraded from a DI-624 to DIR-655. My wife's vista laptop connects without a problem, but neither my work XP laptop nor my home xp machine will connect wirelessly.
I did not have any problem with the DI-624.I went through my wife's laptop network settings and made sure the XP machine was the same.
Recently my laptop, which is successfully connected to the wireless network, has failed to recognize shared folders on my desktop and the external hard drive connected to it. Laptop running 7, desktop running XP Pro. 2 days ago it was working fine. Yesterday it stopped working. I have made no changes that I can think of. All of the folders on the desktop and external drive that I want shared are set up for sharing. So, my question is, what do I need to do to again be able to read and write to these folders, especially the ones on the external hard drive. I believe the adjustment has to be made on the desktop, either in the network connections or the file sharing, but the laptop may need adjusted as well.
View 14 Replies View RelatedJust got an HDTV, has a load of fancy internet stuff, but only has a wired connection and I can't put my router in this room, and would rather not have to run a wire up from downstairs.
I'm guessing there is a way of connecting to the wireless on my laptop in this room, connect the laptop to the tv via an ethernet cabe, and bridge the connections or something so that my tv gets the internet from the laptop. That's gotta be possible, no? When I try it tho, the connections bridge, but the tv says "Gateway is not connected, gateway address wrong or unavailable". Using auto IP.
