View 1 RepliesI have a linksys system WRT54G at home. I had no problems with the Linksys router until about a month ago when I decided to make it a secure network. I run three computers of the wireless router (1 desktp and 2 laptops) Since making the wireless network secure I can not connect with my business laptop IBM Thinkpad X40, but thother e computers work just fine.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a WRT160N v3 at home, it's been working well. I usually only have an old Toshiba Satelite on the network, which runs G IIRC.I had the network setup as open without a password (I don't really have any neighbors nearbye) however when a new computer tries to get on my network, I usually have to hit the 'sync' or w/e button on the router for the computer to get on. I'm happy with that setup, and it seems to have been working fine.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have just purchased a new EA3500 router and have fairly painlessly managed to get my desktop (running Windows XP), my lap top (running Windows 7), ipads 1 and 2 and blackberry all to connect to the wireless hub. I even have it talking to a WD 1T external hard drive.
BUT try as I might I can't get an old sony vaio running windows 2000 professional to connect to the internet. It talkes to the box and even allows the lap top to hop on as a guest but it goes through to a guest sign on web page and no matter what combination of passwords (i am sure i have the write guest sign on) it just refuses to actually connect. I never had a problem connection to our previous wireles router.
I have a Dell Inspiron Laptop with Windows 7 and a PC with XP. The Laptop has Dell Wireless 1397 WLAN mini-card, i think it supports 802.11g. My PC has DLINK DWA 525 PCI WIRELESS card, this supports 802.11g and n. The wireless router is Belkin Surf Wireless Router (F7D2301zb).
Now, the problem i'm facing is when PC is connected first and later when laptop is connected, the computer gets disconnected. Laptop works fine. I have to restart the router to connect both.
Is it due to the difference in 802.11 G and N of Laptop and PC ?
How do i make my laptop wireless without having to have my laptop connect to all the wires?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've got an issue with my router. The Linksys E1000.In my opinion it supports the Wireless-N mode, so does my wireless lan card which is the Atheros AR5B93 (also known as the Acer Nplify 802.11 b/g/n). When I connect to the router, it only connects in normal wireles mode, so no b,g or n mode. But when I look at the Client Tabel of the router all other devices connected to the router are in Wireless-G mode. Even my laptop doesn't connect in Wireless-G mode.I want to have my laptop connected in Wireless-N mode. What do I have to do, to make this working?

View 3 Replies View RelatedRecently, after a few hours my laptop suddently loses connection to the router and from then it keeps connecting and loosing the connection for a few hours. Sometimes it connects successfuly .This happens while my other pc, connected by cable to the router, works perfectly. The next day i open the laptop the internet works fine.I noticed ,when i had another router, that the laptop often had problems connecting to it while my pc was working. It would connect a lot slower after i would reset the router.I have Windows 7 Ultimate installed on both.
View 3 Replies View RelatedOkay we have the router downstairs with a powerline ethernet on the firs and second floors so we can get the net.
Our house must be made of lead or something, because I very rarely get a decent wireless signal which stays consistant. Because of this I wanted to connect my laptop though the powerline but for some reason it doesn't work.
When I plug in the network cable it just hangs on identifying for a minute or so then comes up with "unidentified network" saying its connected, but has no access to the router, the internet etc etc.
Connecting the laptop directly works fine however. I've also attempted plugging the laptop in via a usb / ethernet connector, but that still hasn't given any results with the exact same issue. When i run ipconfig /all this is what comes up.

My daughter has a Tobisha laptop with Windows 7 working off a cable modem wireless thru a Linksys Cisco router. It all has been working fine for months until yesterday she cannot connect to router. I unplugged router and modem for a minute, replugged modem then router back in and laptop still will not connect to router. I can connect to internet if don't use router and connect from modem to laptop. I do not think anything is wrong with her router or any plug-in connections because I have no problem connecting to her router with my own laptop or my wifes laptop! I have a Dell ( VISTA ) and a Dell ( XP ). I'm thinking maybe wirless card in my daughter's Tobisha could be the problem?

I checked the drivers, and i am not sure if im missing any. There is a yellow mark on my network controller, but there is no description or details for it. The internet works while connected to an etherent cable directly to my router. I went to the manufacture website (dell), and downloaded/updated the drivers. I ran PC diagnostics and the wireless still doesn't work.

connect my partner's laptop to my wireless network?
The router is a Sagem provided by my ISP (Sky). The wireless connection works fine on my MacBook, and various other devices connect no problem with the security key.
However, his laptop (Windows Vista) will not connect wirelessly. After entering the password, it says it can't connect because it 'times out' (we are obviously entering the password immediately with no delay). It connects fine with an ethernet cable. It will also connect to an unsecured wireless network we can pick up.
The security setup is WPA-PSK with TKIP encryption, and we've made sure he is using these settings.
If it might be important, he has just moved here, and previously his laptop was connected to another Sky router with no problems.
I tried to set up an ad hoc access point on my laptop, but it won't connect to the network I made. I'm using xp sp3.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to connect my XP laptop to a home wireless network and I keep getting the following error once I enter in the passcode provided by my ISP:The network passcode needs to be 40bits or 104bits depending on your network configuration. This can be entered as 5 or 13 ascii characters or 10 or 26 hexadecimal characters.I have an iphone, 3 ipads, one windows 7 pc and a mac connected to the network with no problems. The password provided by the ISP is 25 characters (letters and numbers). I would hate to have to change the password on all my devices for one Windows XP laptop. I've called Netgear who make the wireless router and they said the only solution was to change the password for all devices.

At home i have a desktop Pc connected to the internet via ethernet, to a bt homehub, on the same homehub i also have a laptop connected to it but using the wireless connection. Both pcs are using windows 7.
I`m trying to file share between these 2 computers using a homegroup, but neither recognises another homegroup on their network. Is this because i`m not using the same connection method ( wirelss and wired) ? Even though both connections are going through the same Hub? I`ve tried renaming the homegroups on both pcs to the same name to see if that works, but it seems both pcs are on different networks. clear lack of pc intelligence, networking not really my thing.
When I try to connect to the internet via a wireless connection, I select the connection I want and it says it's connected.
However when I go to the wireless connection properties it is sending but not receiving and it won't connect to the internet. I went to the CMD and typed in IPCONFIG and get the message saying my "Media Not Connected."
I have pushed the green button on the router so my laptop can pick up the settings but it still won't connect. Also, I took my laptop to my friends house and was able to connect on their wireless.
I am on Windows Vista.
after recently moving out of my parents house to go to university, my laptop has stopped connecting properly to my wireless network at my parents house. It connects, but says that I either have no internet access or limited access. This does not happen to any other device connecting to the network, and my laptop doesnt have trouble connecting to any other wireless network.
