How do I update drivers for atheros wifi adapter on hp PC that can not connect to internet due to need of updates?...possibly burn to CD on second computer and load on PC needing it?...however, I cant find a free atheros driver update site.
View 1 RepliesAT&T recently came out and replaced our Uverse modem, upon which iPad could connect to the new network, but neither of our laptops. I'm only a little technical with hardware/system issues, so after none of the more obvious troubleshooting issues worked, I started searching for more information and came across this site....great!! Eventually resolved the issue, suspect the wired connection through modem/router did the trick, but also updated the network adapter drivers. This (husband's) laptop was doing fine for a few hours, but then suddenly lost connection -- appeared that the network adapter was disabled. But when I went to enable it, it was gone!! It no longer appears in the Device Manager list at all. (It is/was an Atheros AR5700)

View 2 Replies View Relatedmy machine is HP ProBook 4530s (bought 2 weeks ago) with Atheros AR9285 WiFi adapter. My OS is Windows 7 Ultimate x64. There is a public wireless network near my home which when I try to connect to I almost always get an "No Internet access" message and no connection. In the rare cases when I connect to the network it dissapears a few seconds after I manage to load a page. The reason why I'm writing about this is that I have another very old (4-5 years old) laptop - Asus with XP SP3 and Atheros 5006EG Wireless network adapter, which connects to this network very easily and with reasonable speeds. I have put the two computers next to each other and the old one connects with no problems, while the new, if finds the network (somethimes it doesn't show on the list of wireless networks or it shows with fewer bars), almost always gives the "No internet access" message and an occasional exclamation mark on WiFi network icon. I tried to read the descriptions of the two adapters online and as far as what I understand the new should be better in any way, but I am not familiar with the terminology, thats why i am starting this thread here.
My question is it possible my 5 years old laptop to have a stronger and better WiFi adapter than the new HP or is it a settings/software issue? If it is the latter, how can I fix it?

One other thing is that when I bought the probook it came with Linux SUSE operating system and the signal was again weak. I am not familliar with Linux so I switched to Windows.
i have a samsung N130 with an Atheros AR9285, a few months ago everything was working fine, suddenly i was disconnected, and i couldn't find any wi-fi connection. i tried system restore, installing the latest drivers, nothing is solving the problem. The wireless chip is working properly according to windows device manager.
Using a D-link usb dongle i could find wireless networks and connect to the internet.
I was updating my Graphics driver (Nvidia Geforce GT 440) today and it asked me to update the other NVIDA things as well that I have. Apparently one was an Nvidia Nforce ethernet driver or something... So pretty much I chose yes. "Installed the Nvidia Network Forceware" thing it said. All of a sudden, my icon down at the bottom right went to a yellow caution sign (Limited/no Connectivity)... Thats where I'm stuck. I tried some of the following:Uninstalled that Nvidia Network Forceware thingWent to Device manager and played a little with it from other forums. I have an older Compaq CQ50-215NR with the dreaded Atheros 5007 Wi-Fi. I get the error message Cannot Connect to Primary DNS Server when I try to connect to the internet wirelessly. When plugged directly into the router, it works just fine. But when I try to connect thru a wireless connection, it does not work. They both show connected to interenet (windows 7 64 bit(sony) and windows 8(dell)) I get an IP address, and I can ping websites. If I click to watch the network traffic (on the local connection status activity) I can see 50,000 bytes received every second I have updated the sonys and dells drivers to the latest one both from sony/dells site and from atheros download site as well - but it doesn't seem to make any difference The router also states its fully up to date

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've an Inspiron 1521 with Dell wireless minicard 1505, running Vista that was running fine except for 'BCM42RLY service failed to start, can't find file' messages logged in the event log, so I thought I would stop that by uninstalling the device driver and re-installing a later version. So I *deleted* when I did the un-install (didn't want any nasty bits left behind) and re-installed the later R174292 drivers. Install went ok, and device manager likes it too, no nasty exclamation marks and it does say "This device is working properley"! On dear, the Dell Wireless WLAN Card Utility tells me different, it says "There are currently no wirelss adapaters available and enabled". When you try to 'connect to a network' it too reports "Windows cannot find any networks".
Done "SFC /scannow" just in case, and no probs reported.
I seem to have deleted something really important when I nuked the driver, that R174292 did not replace? Needless to say I cannot roll back the driver! And, just to be sure, that little 'ole network switch on the side of the 'old lappie is firmly ON!
I deleted the above program and now my wifi does not work. I've updated the drivers, uninstalled and reinstalled them and finally have replaced the wifi adaptor itself,
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have Vista SP2 and sometimes I can connect to some WiFis, but now I've had this problem to connect already with two different WiFis. First one was a shared WiFi in a residential house. That I solved by exporting and importing the wireless profile from the landlord's computer. This time even this solution failed me. Having imported the wireless profile in my new shared house, it asks for a password and accepts it, but then it says: "can't connect to UPC...". If I click "diagnose the problem" it concludes with "Wireless authentication failed because of a timeout"
Steps taken so far: I have now deleted all pre-existing wireless profiles from this computer -> no change

Laptop Fujitsu with Wifi adapter : Atheros AR9285 , lastest driver v10.0.0.52 April 2012
Win 7 32bit pro WLC 6.0.196.0 and AP 1142 , associated in 802.11G or N WPA 2 preshared key.
WLC Roaming parameter : minimum RRSI -80dbm, roaming hysteresis 2dB, adaptive scan threshold -70dBm, transition time 5sec.
The laptops are supposed to be compatible with CCXv5 program, but in WLC (and two controllers CT-5508) the client is not seen as CCX client compatible !
So roaming is bad. Even with a very good and dense wifi coverage (no coverage hole detected), because the laptop still stay associated with a far AP (until -90dbm), instead of roaming with the nearests APs (-40dbm !!)
I have an E1000 router and have updated the firmware to v2.1.02 Build 6. Also have the AE1000 Wireless-N Adapter and wanted to see if there were any new updates. According to this Linksys page the latest driver is Ver.3.1.12.0 (04/27/2012). I have downloaded the file and unzipped it to the desktop.

I have tried the latest driver install from broadcom but this stops almost immediately with a message to contact hardware manufacturer as the install cannot proceed.
Sometimes I get messages prompting me to update driver. at other times driver appears to be installed and working perfectly
I use Dell support center and Dell download manager to keep up to date and don't usually have any problem but this bluetooth messaging has been going on for months now.
I'm trying to install the WMP110 PCI card in a new PC with a Win7 operating system. An error msg states that the system can't find a certain .dll (driver?) so I guess I need to update the driver for the Win7 system. One of the pages here has available downloads for the 110 but they only specify version 1.0 and/or version 2.0. Which on do I need to download and to what file?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI downloaded an update for the 1370 wireless card from the microsoft site and now my wireless network doesn't work. I went to the dell site and got the driver directly from the dell site (R140747.EXE) and it fails after it reached 59% complete. I tried another download recommended from this forum (R151519.EXE) and the same error at 59%. I have tried everything I have seen in the forums (closing virus software, editting setup ini file, etc) and I still get Update 778 error at 59%. I am running on an Inspirion 6000, CARD (CIRCUIT), IRELESS, MINI PCI CARD, 1370, BROADCOM CORPORATION, Dlink wireless router, windows xp with sp2, USA. I have also received an error that says something about internal setting incompatible (unfortunately I didn't capture the exact wording - I will attempt to recreate the error) This is terribly frustrating considering I was only following the dell suggestion that I update the driver and now that I attempted it, my laptop is sitting not being used.

These pop up every 30 seconds or so and seem to be related to the Dell TrueMobile 1300 update.Looking in the Windows directory there is no uninstall directory for this update unlike the MS updates. So I now either need to:get the updates to work properly Remove the updates and get back to a working condition if you wonder why I applied the updates...why repair something that's already working...I have had Bluetooth sporadic connection issues with this laptop with a BT GPS unit. The same BT GPS unit works perfectly on a D610 but on this D600 after initial connection there can be repeated connection loss requring the BT GPS unit to be moved around, after which BT connection is re-established only to fail a while later. As the same GPS works without problem with the D610 my presumption has been the issue is a BT stack issue on the D600 BT implementation.

Here's what we have at the house;
1 - Motorola Modem (horrible ISP)
2 - Dlink DIR 655 wireless router (about 2-3 years old)
3 - 2 laptops (windows 7/both)
4 - DirecTV broadband box (can't remember how that hooked up to the router?)
5 - Playstation 3
6 - (3) DTV sat receivers
The problem started while trying to connect the PS3 to the existing network. Only one laptop is wifi, the other laptop and Ps3 are in my room and wired in to the router, and the strange little DirecTV box is in the wired mix(for on-demand i guess?) The PS3 could not log-in to the PSNetwork(still can't), but it could browse the web just fine. So I start manually typing in IP addresses, 6 IP's in all, including the sharing of 3 DTV boxes that show up on the network on my admin laptop. Didn't work, so I get into the DLink router URL and start opening up ports that PSNetwork uses. At this point I think I have it figured out, then I did a firmware update on the router. My laptop, the PS3(internet, no PSNetwork) and even the little DTV box was working fine, all wired in, using 3 of the four ports. The old lady's laptop in the living room not only couldn't get on-line, it couldn't detect a wifi network? So try to set up a new real quick before I left this AM.. No beans!! I looked at the specs for the router, the firmware is up to date but from early 2010, and the features say "NO" to gaming support..
Do I get another router that can handle all the devices and is PS3 friendly, if that's even a thing!? I can't roll back the firmware update cause I wasn't able to back up the settings, and honestly theres a good chance I did something really bad as far as trying to tweak that router to open up ports for the specific IP address that goes to the game console. We'll call it 191.55.55.99. When I thought I was finished, the PS3 IP address had switched to 191.55.55.98? So it dropped down a number, I thought it was static, and all my efforts were for the --99 IP address, basically I have network issues consisting of Satalite tv boxes, a public DTV share folder, a video game console, one wired and one wireless, and a router that I WANT TO SET ON FIRE!
I want a ipad 2 and I have 2wire 2700HGB. It needs a phone jack, yet it is suppose to be wirless. What do need to do. We have our home protection system in the kitchen in it's phone jack.I am so confused! Can I have a wireless connection and a home phone line together?
