i recently updated my windows vist acer (home version) laptop to windows vist ultamite, before i updated i could connect to my netcom series 7 wifi modem without any problem. now after the update it doesnt even reconise the wifi. i can use ethernet conection fine its just the wireless wont work
1 - Motorola Modem (horrible ISP) 2 - Dlink DIR 655 wireless router (about 2-3 years old) 3 - 2 laptops (windows 7/both) 4 - DirecTV broadband box (can't remember how that hooked up to the router?) 5 - Playstation 3 6 - (3) DTV sat receivers
The problem started while trying to connect the PS3 to the existing network. Only one laptop is wifi, the other laptop and Ps3 are in my room and wired in to the router, and the strange little DirecTV box is in the wired mix(for on-demand i guess?) The PS3 could not log-in to the PSNetwork(still can't), but it could browse the web just fine. So I start manually typing in IP addresses, 6 IP's in all, including the sharing of 3 DTV boxes that show up on the network on my admin laptop. Didn't work, so I get into the DLink router URL and start opening up ports that PSNetwork uses. At this point I think I have it figured out, then I did a firmware update on the router. My laptop, the PS3(internet, no PSNetwork) and even the little DTV box was working fine, all wired in, using 3 of the four ports. The old lady's laptop in the living room not only couldn't get on-line, it couldn't detect a wifi network? So try to set up a new real quick before I left this AM.. No beans!! I looked at the specs for the router, the firmware is up to date but from early 2010, and the features say "NO" to gaming support..
Do I get another router that can handle all the devices and is PS3 friendly, if that's even a thing!? I can't roll back the firmware update cause I wasn't able to back up the settings, and honestly theres a good chance I did something really bad as far as trying to tweak that router to open up ports for the specific IP address that goes to the game console. We'll call it 191.55.55.99. When I thought I was finished, the PS3 IP address had switched to 191.55.55.98? So it dropped down a number, I thought it was static, and all my efforts were for the --99 IP address, basically I have network issues consisting of Satalite tv boxes, a public DTV share folder, a video game console, one wired and one wireless, and a router that I WANT TO SET ON FIRE!
How do I update drivers for atheros wifi adapter on hp PC that can not connect to internet due to need of updates?...possibly burn to CD on second computer and load on PC needing it?...however, I cant find a free atheros driver update site.
I want a ipad 2 and I have 2wire 2700HGB. It needs a phone jack, yet it is suppose to be wirless. What do need to do. We have our home protection system in the kitchen in it's phone jack.I am so confused! Can I have a wireless connection and a home phone line together?
Just purchased an Asus K532-BBR9 laptop. Everything works fine, except on college campus the internet is very slow, and disconnects every few minutes. My fellow students laptops do not seem to have this problem.I figured it may be a driver issue, so I am trying to update everything.Under Network Adapters in Device Manager. The Microsoft Virtual WiFI Miniport Adapter is not up to date when I do a driver update scan. Then it says "Windows can't verify the publisher of this driver software.." with options to install anyways.

This router worked fine until I updated the firmware downloaded from the TP-Link site. I have V1 hardware which is what the firmware was created for. Since the update the wifi continually kicks outs quite often rendering this router useless.
I updated the fimware on my WRT160N v3 and followed it up with a reset of the router. I then restored the router settings that I had saved. All the settings appeared to be good, but none of my wireless devices would connect. I reneted the pass phrases (WPA2) but still nothing. Tried to change the passphrase, still no good. I then did a factory reset of the router from the setiings page and manually re-entered and save the settings, again nothing. All of my devices are able to "see" the network and the correct SSID.
My dad has an issue with his Windows 7 home edition laptop, he cant get any updates on AVG, Itunes or access the itunes store, he keeps getting error messages denying access. Hes using the 64bit Itunes lastest version (I uninstalled his very out of date itunes last night and downloaded the new version) but still the store wont open
Alright it said to click "Check for updates" and then go back to download the update but everytime I click "check for updates" it says I don't have an internet connection even though I can still connect to the itunes store and everything. ran diagnostic in itunes and it told me to enable my network interface and I did that but it still wont work! My Internet signal is brilliant but I can't download the upgrade unless I update the software or something but it won't let me unless i have an internet connection which I do.
After I updated my E4200 V1 with the 1.0.04 update I am unable to connect my WET610N to it with 802.11N. I can connect fine with 802.11G. I tried the Site Survey method of pairing them as well as manual. When it fails it goes through the minute timeout of trying and then Link Status is disconnected. I have anything from phones to laptops connect to the E4200 with wireless N, its just the WET610N that doesnt want to pair.

Read the confusing "how to guide ......" but was stated "Do NOT upgrade the firmware via wireless connection"
Question : how to connect with LAN wire ? Try plugging btw the computer LAN and the router LAN.... can't access the 192.168.0.1
Question : any proper step-by-step guide on how to update the firmware?
Ran CiscoConnect.E1200.1.4.12263.1.exe on laptop twice and returned the same "there is a problem result." Disconnected router power for a few minutes in between. Current version is 1.4.11200.0. My desktop is also connected by cable to my broadbandcable modem
I got a installation issue of cisco connect software. The installation keep downloading update and cannot process to next step. This "downloading update" is for cisco connect software update or router E4200 's firmware update?
i have encountered this problem and when i try to change the tc/ip the notification appear as you must install or enable network adapter card.. all the driver are updated ..
In my device I am able to browse through & connect to my HOME wifi network ; But after connecting it says 'No Internet Access'.I tried connecting with my SONY Bluray , iphone , ipad , laptops -- everywhere same story.I am able to plug in the ethernet cable directly from modem & able to connect to network.I am not able to open the http://192.168.0.1 -- ( When I am plugged in the modem directly)
Following are my router details

Any way to connect a wifi usb to a wireless router for better wifi connect?? i have wifi but it only gets in the room of the house im in and want it to work though out the house not just one room
Have a router called WBR-T2 Wireless ADSL 2+ Gateway. Have been using it for around a year. Has been working great until now. When I attempt to connect to the network using any of the devices in the house (iPod, Laptop and Xbox) the connection is never made despite the connection being visible when searching. The following router lights are ON or OFF:
The power is ON SYS is ON DSL is ON WLAN is ON USB is OFF LAN 1, 2, 3, 4 are OFF
I've had this setup for years now, custom ssid and password on my router, altho yesterday my pc said i was connected to "Slayer 2" (my ssid is Slayer) i found it weird so i went to wifi settings and i deleted all the ssids in an attempt to re-connect to "Slayer" thing is now, even tho my pc detects my ssid, when i try to connect to it, it says password is wrong. this is very weird cuz i can connect to it on my portable and tablet. My pc stills connects to other ssids with np, so i think the prob is not my network adapter.I've tried to change the ssid, didnt work.tried to change the password and didnt work either.googled a bit and did the winsock reset commands, didnt work either.currently posting this from my pc which has now an ethernet cable coming from the router.
So recently it just kind of cut out on me. I was connected to both at one point, and now whenever I connect to ethernet, I cannot connect to wifi either as it makes ethernet the main source. Currently in college so I do not have access to the routers/modems/servers. I have done a chkdisc run, tried different ethercords (Glowing), antivirus, reinstalled drivers. Whenever I run a diagnostic on both the wifi/ethernet it blames it on the DNS servers, which I do not understand why since I was connected to them just the other day.
Problem: My USB wireless network adapter gets a limited connectivity message in the notification tray but no packets are being sent or recieved. It does, however, recognize my network on the available connections list - so it's not totally dead. When I switch to a wired connection I get "no connections available". This is the case even on a new PCI ethernet controller.
Details:Problem happened after installing new memory and clearing the CMOS (to troubleshoot a problem). LAN is working on a fresh Windows install on a different hard drive. Therefore, I've rulled out a hardware failure as the source of the problem.
Device Manager does not list any problems. Everything is recognized. In Network Connections, three Local Area Connections are present and Windows recognizes when the ethernet cable is plugged in. The hardware lights on the wired NIC function properly.Windows Network Diagnostis reports that "Windows couldn't automatically bind the IP protocol stack to the network adapter" and pings to IP addresses like 192.0.0.1 or 192.168.0.1 get a "transmit failed. General failure" message.Everything is set to obtain IP addresses and DNS automatically. Also, I haven't knowingly changed any settings from the time it was working until it/they stopped working.
Ipconfig doesn't list any information. It just reads: Windows IP Configuration Host Name..............: Monolith Primary Dns Suffix...: Node Type...............: Hybrid[code]....
Where I'm at: I can't figure out why both NICs would be giving me trouble at the same time. It seems like Windows just can't handle anything trying to use TCP/IP no matter what I throw at it. Despite Windows knowing about the hardware and thinking everything is fine, it seems like it can't access it correctly to connect.
I have just got USB wi-fi for my desktop computer (which has an internet connection). I installed the drivers and hardware. I set up an ad hoc connection to my laptop with internet sharing enabled on the desktop, however though they seemed to connect, the laptop could not access the net.(Both computers are running Win XP Pro.)
After weeks of having internet problems, the internet is up and running again.for everyone other than me. i can connect via cable, which i am doing now, but cannot connect to wifi. my landlord had attempted to change the key at some point, so i had typed in that one, but now i cannot seem to get rid of it. the original key seems to work for the 2 other computers in the house that have wifi (both MACs) but not for me. when i attempt to connect i type in the original key and it "thinks about it" and says that it will be automatically connected, but never connects. i get no message saying that any information is wrong or the key is wrong.but when i go into the advanced settings and go into the properties of this wifi, it seems to remember a shorter key.
I have an Acer laptop running Win7. I have a wireless router. In the last few months I find when I open my laptop from hibernation I can't get it to connect to Wi-Fi. Sometimes troubleshoot does it. Sometimes not. Sometimes trying to connect to another router in the area and failing does it. Other times not. I've tried looking on device manager and sometimes the mini port has a yellow warning triangle but other times it doesn't.
I juWiFi Router, I can connect 1 computer to it, but when I try to connect another device (such as a second computer or cell phones) I get a message that the security key is a mismatch on the other devices. Is this a problem with the system, or a problem with the first computer I connected?
I don't know how to go about this but basically i have a cable modem connected to a router which then connects to my 3 pc's. (file/printer network sharing and stuff setup via the built in windows wizard). and i have a printer plugged into one of the pc's. (all using windows xp)they can all use the printer just fine.i got this NEW pc(windows 7), which is not physically connected to this router. instead, i set up a wireless connection to it. (a wired connection is not possible)internet access also works fine.BUT, i just realized that i think file/printer sharing it cannot do. i think it's because even though it can use the same internet it's on it's own wireless network and not the wired one. so i guess they can't communicate with each other? so i'm wondering. how can i get the wifi pc to talk to the non-wireless printer
I use a wireless N 150 usb adapter (D-link) and my desktop can see my wireless network but it will not connect. Network is shawcable with wpa-2 psk security.
