I have been atte;ting to connect to m home wifii but all it says is "cannot connect" I can see the connection then once i attempy to connect it disappears and i must restart to try again. I tried turning wifii off and on again on the laptop.I checked the password on another device and I am entering it correctly. Ive reset the IP address and reset the router.

My pc desktop is connected to the wireless router by the ethernet cable and the laptop is connected through the wifi. now i want to connect laptop to the pc so that i can work on my desktop pc through the laptop, i can view the files and even edit them.

I know the wifi in the laptop works, i know the laptop has no issues.I know this because i switched my hard drive from my 1330 to this laptop which is also a 1330...connects and works fine.Wifi IS turned on In device manager the driver is ok no exclamation marks anywhere When i try and connect with the ethernet i get identifying no network access, then it says currently connected to unidentified network, no network access! You cannot browse.So that being said it must be in the setting with windows 7.I uninstalled and reinstalled the wifi driver it did not make any difference.I also tried using a Ethernet connection and it would not connect either.When i use the win 7 trubleshooter it states a network cable is not properly plugged in or may be broken.Remember this laptop functions fine with my hard drive in it with windows xp.

And like i said it does not recognize a single wi-fi network while my ipod, phone, and the other computers in my household recognize our wi-fi and our usual neighbors wi-fi without any problem.I was torrentingsome music yesterday, and may or may not have stumbled across a bad site with a virus, but that's the only conclusion I could make.(Currently posting this on my brother's computer)I need to get my connection back and get online again asap?

I've been reading tons of old threads to troubleshoot this. I'm at a loss. I have used this current networking hardware for more than a year without any problems. I do have a pretty old router but my iPod connects to the WiFi no problem at the moment. Here's what I've tried so far:
- soft reset of router
- power cycle modem and router
- removed saved network information from the laptop

View 4 Replies View RelatedA friend of mine has experienced a crash with her Toshiba Satellite while watching a vid on the net.It froze completely so she did a battery pull and re-booted the system.After booting up Windows 7 after the password screen the laptop crashed completely.
The same problem occurred once again so she loaded Windows in safe mode with networking. The computer seemed to function normally so she rebooted into normal mode.Since then everything appears to be functioning except the Wifi (that was used in conjunction with an ADSL net connection).The LED where the Wifi switch is no longer lights up and no Wifi connection can be made.I suspect that as a result of the initial crash the connection settings may have been reset but perhaps the Wifi in the laptop itself has just died and needs to be repaired.
I know it could just be corrupted drivers or something - I updated the drivers for something called "Microsoft Virtual Wifi Miniport Adapter" using the auto update feature in Windows Device Manager but it didn't solve the problem.
I have had a very stable wifi with my 615 for the last year. No problems with my desktop (Vista) or laptop (Vista) or other comp(XP). Just purchased a new laptop (Windows 7) which knocks out my wifi every 5-10 minutes. Cycle power and back up she comes. Now its to the point that when sometime when the wifi goes down..it also knocks out my hard line connection. This is also corrected with a power cycle. I've tried every "tip" I could find through Google (channel 11, only wpa-only, 802.11n only,etc.)and updated the firmware to "Current Firmware Version : 2.25 Current Firmware Date : 2008/05/16 " Again...this problem only reared it's ugly head when I brought the Windows 7 OS into the mix. It seems like its could be related to uploads as it drops my wifi while sending emails or posting. I've also noticed a drop in my upload speed (speedtest) from my hard line comp.

Son's new Windows 7 comp causes same issue. And..I can stream Pandora all day without a problem with my tablet but as soon as a Windows 7 comp connects, the crashes begin.
Have a new Gateway laptop running W8. I have to use Windows diagnostics in Sharing centre to reset the connection although it looks like it is still up.( page cannot be displayed ). Once reset and fixe all is ok until pc goes into sleep mode, then I have to reset again.

This would lead me to believe that the issue is with her computer but her computer can connect to other wifis in the area...just not her own. I am not sure what is causing this...it may be that program "Acer eNet Management" but that still doesn't explain why she can connect to other wifis and not her own. But starting a couple days ago, the WiFi would not connect properly. I have to use the troubleshoot feature a couple times on my computer for it to work. My other laptops and other devices have no problems connecting to my network.

I am attempting to connect to a residential wireless network on a router that was installed up by an engineer this morning.When the engineer was here he connected an HP laptop using XP to the wireless router. At first there was an issue with the connection (seemingly the same error message I am getting now), he did something to the wireless settings on the laptop, which stupidly I didn't see, and it successfully connected.When I attempted to connect my laptop to the same wireless router I got the same error message:'Connection Unsuccessful'.I clicked Diagnose Problem and got this: 'This computer has got limited or no connectivity'.I first selected the 'Automatically get new IP settings for the network adapter' but this didn't solve the problem. I then viewed the Wireless Network Security Settings and as far as I can see they are identical to those on the HP laptop that has successfully connected: [code] I then connected my laptop to the router using the ADSL cable and was able to connect to the internet, but I am still unable to get a wireless connection. When I view the wireless connections I am 'Connected With Limited Access'.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have the wireless switch turned on and the wireless router is set up correctly - I know the network name, encryption & password.The same setup has worked fine before, but now the laptop isn't letting me connect to it, or even try to connect to it.The internet works perfectly if I connect the ethernet cable directly; and I can bring up the wireless router's settings with 192.168.1.1; but the internet doesn't work when I remove the cable. I looked on google to try and find the method of bringing up the available networks, but it won't work for me. When I hover the cursor over the icon on the taskbar, it says "not connected - connections are available", but nothing happens when I click on it. I tried moving the cursor to the bottom-right corner of the screen, clicking on Settings, and clicking on the network icon with "Available" written underneath it, but again nothing happens.
I've also tried this:
-right-clicked network icon on taskbar, opened Network and Sharing Center
-clicked Set Up a Connection or Network
-clicked Connect to the Internet - nothing happens and the window crashes, I have to CTRL+ALT+DELETE->task manager->restart Windows Explorer
-clicked Manually Connect to a Wireless Network - I enter the details of the wireless network, then it says that the network already exists; I choose to Use the existing network, open the "connect to a network" dialog so I can connect, but then nothing happens. It doesn't crash this time though.
I am using Win 7 and here is the ipconfig /all result. I also have an XP PC which works using the wifi, so I will also post the result of the XP ipconfig /all result:
