I purchased a new built system, worked great 5 days, major trojan forced a reformat of drive. Now Win 7 64 Device Manager is empty- no network adapter found - I get the notice that "there are no properly installed network adapters". I use the on-board network adapter on the mobo, no plug in network card, hard wired to DSL -- like I said, it worked fine for a few days now it's GONE after reformat.

months ago, i installed a USB card so that my dvd burner could run at 2.0 or 3.0. it has worked fine. every now and then the card becomes unlodged from inside the computer, and i have to push it back into the slot.Tonight, while the computer was on, i was putting it back in, and it popped all the way out, my computer shut down and when i restarted it, i got the error message "windows did not find properly installed network adapter/ if you have network adapter update/re-install drivers"Only problem i have is when i go to device manager, i see NO network adapter?

I've found the right one and it still want install. Says it's the wrong one but i'm pretty sure it's the right one. I just did a fresh install where i put windows 7 extreme on a laptop and i can't seem to ge the right drivers i guess. I don't know if it's the wrong driver or a bad NIC Card.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a user using windows 7 64 bit. I tried vpnclient-winx64-msi-5.0.07.0290-k9.exe and vpnclient-winx64-msi-5.0.07.0440-k9.exe. Installation is fine. Connecting is fine. But no traffic goes through.The remote end cisco is 1811 VPN Server split tunnel. User get authenticated by Radius server.
After connected, user get the correct IP address. In router, sh crypto session, it has SA, etc. But sh ip route, can't find the Static route point back to the client IP like other connections.
At user end, windows show the IP address but no gateway. Windows route print shows the VPN network via gateway xxx.xxx.xxx.1 which is not available.Other 32bit users have no issues with VPN.
Would it work just fine using a desktop with Win 7 64bit hosting the domain for a small home network when there would be 2 dekstops with XP 32bit and a laptop with Win7 32bit?

I have the network up and running fine except that the Windows 7 computer cannot open any files on the xp computer. It says that it doesn't have permission and the check with the network administrator. There are no passwords set up on either computer and both run as administrator. The Windows 7 Computer is hard wired to a Linksys router, and the XP uses a wireless N adapter to connect. The windows 7 computer can navigate the xp computer, it just can't open any of the files with any program. From the XP computer I can access and open anything on the Windows 7 computer?

I received “Your adapter may not be installed properly”” ERROR 211: The network adapter is not installed properly” message last night. Also the Windows pop-up message: “USB device not recognized” message. I removed the adaptor and reinstalled it into another USB port. The same thing happened. I moved it again to a third USB port, I received the same error on all five of my PC’s USB ports. I was not able to access the network at all last night.
I brought in laptop into work today , because the antenna/extension is kept there. I inserted the adaptor and it started right up. After an hour of usage, I disconnected the antenna and the adaptor and reinserting the adaptor without the antenna directly into the USB port. And it still worked fine.I turned the PC off, disconnected everything and went to lunch. When I returned, booted up the PC, and inserted the adaptor and, once again got the error message: “ERROR 211 – The network adapter is not installed properly…. I tried again, this time using the antenna, and it is up and working for now.
I just re-installed Windows XP Professional on my Dell XPS Gen 4. Everything works fine on it but the internet. I can open IE, but it just says "This page cannot be displayed" and on and on.Since I re-installed it I believe their are not many drivers on it, I don't really know, and I think that might be it but I am not sure. And I am not sure which drivers I need if it is missing drivers.

In device manager, it says those devices aren't installed. I can't install them because the laptop has no internet. I can't seem to find the drivers for them either on intel. The issue is we recently purcahsed new laptops for our inspectors. They where running Windows XP 32 bit with CISCO Client 5.0.01 and every thing worked fine. When I upgraded them to the new laptops I am having issues with the VPN. The symptom is that the VPN connects ok and you can download files from the servers ok but when you try to up load a file that is larger than 80 KB it hangs on "Discovering Items..." then times out. What I have tried is:I hooked one of the laptops into the LAN and connect the VPN and the uploads work fine.I setup a SoHo router in our DMZ and hook the laptop to it and I have the problem my users are having at home as described above.Tryed truning off all Windows Fire Walls. -> Fails on upload.Tryed stopping the "Indexing Service". -> Fails on upload.Updated the CISCO client to the latest version. -> Fails on upload.Removed Anti-Virus. -> Fails on upload.Used IP addresses in place of FQDN. -> Fails on upload.We have other Windows VIST 32bit computers and they do not have these problems with their VPN. These are our first 64bit computers. I really do not want to down grade to Windows 7 32bit.I can make the running config available upon request but I doubt that is the issue being that our other computers are working fine but if there is something I need to do with the tunnel to get around this issue, I am game.

- The ethernet connection WORKS
- The fn+f2 wireless switch combo seems to do nothing
- I've updated the bios
- I've uninstalled and installed the latest driver
- I've installed external USB wireless adapter but it has same issue
- I've scanned for malware, all clean.
When I go to network adapters it has signal bars on the wireless adapter but when I right click -> connect disconnect -> nothing shows as available. If I diagnose, it just says there may be a problem with the wireless adapter. I've tried DISABLING ZoneAlarm firewall to no avail also.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a medialink USB adapter and medialink wireless router. I've had them configured for a couple of months and both seem to work fine. The issue is with only one system (main desktop computer running windows 7 64bit). I shut the system down over this past weekend and when I came back today, it said that it could not connect to the network and that the settings saved for my wireless network were incorrect.
After much frustration and googling, I finally performed a hard reset of my router (tiny button in the back) and redid all of the security settings (different SSID, different password). I finally got my desktop to connect to the network. When I connected, windows prompted me saying that I was sharing an IP address with another computer on this network. I canceled out of the prompt and my wifi worked fine. However, my computer has been randomly disconnecting from the network every few minutes for the last hour or so. I have to manually reconnect to the network every time this happens and it does not seem to stay connected for long periods of time. All other systems on the network (laptop and phone) do not have this problem.
Additional note: When first trying to fix the problem (before hard reset), I disabled the "Bonjour" service in windows AND ran the following command: netsh int ip reset C: esetlog.txt per a suggestion on a forum. I'm not sure if this would have changed anything even after the reset.
I turned on the monitor (I had left the system running) and it said that it had recovered from an unexpected shut down. It didn't automatically connect to the wifi, so I opened the connections window to connect to a network and it said "Windows cannot find any networks." I refreshed several times and nothing happened. I clicked the option underneath "Diagnose why windows can't find any networks," and it came back with "This computer does not have a wireless adapter installed and configured." I then opened up the device manager, and under network Adapters, the only thing is "Intel(R) 82566DC-2 Gigabit Network Connection." I checked it out and it says it's working properly, and I believe that this adapter is for when you actually connect a cable directly to the PC.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have recently gone as far as restoring my computer to its "factory" state to try and combat this issue.
Unfortunately, I'm not sure there is much else I can do at this point - the issue has not been resolved.
I re-installed factory drivers for my adapter, then replaced those with updated drivers from Intel. I was 'alright' for a while, but have had to launch Device Manager to re-enable the adapter, or restart my computer entirely because it failed to display my adapter at all. At this point, I get no result with either.
I have tried to 'recognize' the adapter as a new device (added hardware), but that didn't solve anything - it duplicated it in Device Manager and then displayed the yellow exclamation point indicating it needed new drivers - I attempted to update but it displayed an error, so I ended up uninstalling the duplicate.
At this point, I feel like it's the hardware that is the problem, and not my computer's ability to recognize it. Though I have been able to connect to my network in the past, its ability to function would be patchy, at best, if I could get it to work at this point. Should I try to reset/replace my wireless card, or is there something else I can try?
My 'network card' is fine, according to a diagnostic, and my Bluetooth works fine.
New Win-7 machine set up. I used the printer set-up wizard to install a networked printer in the new machine with absolutely no problem. Proved it would print from that machine.Now, I get a call informing me that her old XP machine, which had been printing to the network printer with no problems, will no longer print.Documents go into the print queue, but they don't get printed.No error messages show up.I did some messing around via remote access, and finally removed the printer with the intention of reinstalling it.Scanning for network printers turned up several redundant instances of the same printer with different names. Some are identified as "invalid" some a "access denied". Bottom line. I can't get any of the selections to install.On the Win-7 machine I did find a window that indicated that the printer is designated as being shared, but I didn't explicitly set it for sharing when I installed it. Also, I somehow got to a window that told me that for printers that were to be shared with other versions of windows I could optionally install drivers to support such machines. Didn't have the driver disk handy and took the window down. Now I can't even find it again.I need sorting this all out.Part of the problem is that out there in "network land" there are redundant remnants of previous installations that are being remembered inappropriately.
