Thomson St780 - Wifi Disconnects Randomly For No Reason?
Feb 13, 2012
I have a problem. My wifi disconnects randomly sometimes and I have to restart my router every time it happens.Besides me the wifi is used by my mother and father on they're own computer. My router is Thomson ST780.
i have a fiber optics 75mbps internet , using a wireless n pcie adaptor on my computer,Dont know why but some times theres random ping spikes when im in game.Sometimes internet randomly dcs.Download speed is also very random from 2mb/s to few bytes. Also sometimes internet speed is so low that it is barely usable.
I'm currently setup with a modem > router > wifi/cable(makes no matter, same issue). If I use the cable straight from the modem into my PC, there are absolutely no issues. Working perfectly.Alright, so to my issue. If I play any games on my PC/PS3, I will suddenly lose my connection for a second or two. Not long enough for me to disconnect from the game. But rather, what should have occured during that time, will just fly by in a split second. This happens, maybe, 2-4 times per hour. I haven't changed much more than the password in the router since i bought it about 3 months ago.Should add that I have a 100/100 fiber connection from Telia, and I drop like 2-3mbit/s from using the router, compared to going straight from the modem.
I've been having this problem for a while now but something is coming up for which i require 24/7 internet connection with NO failures. problem: about 2 to 3 times a day i lose internet connection for about 1 to 2 minutes and after that everything is totally fine again. There are 5 lights on my modem in this order from top to bottom:
Internet: This light blinks green when im using it like downloading or playing something online. It stays green when i have internet but im not sending or recieving any data. DSL: always green. Wireless: I use wireless connection. its always blinking orange (i dont know why orange but it works fine) Ethernet: This light is always off cause i dont use cables. Power: always green.
What happens is that my DSL light which is supposed to be green. starts blinking. Then after 30 seconds or so it stops and just turns green again but my Internet light turns red. It stays red for about 1 to 2 minutes and then it turns green again and works fine again. Called the company many times but they dont detect anything because when we call, its always working fine. so all they tell me to do is reset the modem which does nothing. I never had this problem at my previous house 2 years ago. it just started at this address so it makes me think it is the line and not a computer/modem problem.
i have a desktop that tends to disconnect at random moments, and the only way to fix this problem is to restart for every time the internet disconnects. It is a wired connection and this desktop is the only computer in the house that has this problem.
i am a gamer and i rely on the internet to do some buisiness as well, a few months ago my router started randomly dropping me from my connection and then 10 seconds later the connection is back up. now i know alot about computers and cant figure out why this is happening. it seems that the problem starts with skype. when i play some games while in skype(we use it as a communication device for the games) i will get dropped from skype and from my game, then skype reconects and i can reconect to the game but 5 minutes later it happens again. i have at&t and am using a 2701HG-B, my donwload speed is a max of 3mbps and usualy is around 2.7mbps. i have contacted at&t multiple times, i have reset my router multiple times but it hasnt fixed the problem. at&t stated that i am demanding too much bandwith from my connection. i feel that this info totally crap. when im on with just 1 of my many devices at 3am and all i am doing is playing a game and talking on skype and it disconnects, there is no way i am demanding too much.
After many weeks of working well, with no problem, the router started to randomly disconnect 2 days ago and since then it happens few times during the day.I haven't changed anything in the setting for more than 1 month so I really don't understand why it happens.Yesterday, my fiancee was using the laptop and me the desktop when the connection dropped only for my PC, because hers was still working.Today it happened already 2 times and I would like to know how can I solve this issue. I must remind everybody that I a beginner when it comes to configuring the wireless router.
When playing multiplayer games online, I will, after some time (15-20 minutes) get horrible lag/disconnects and ping issues, It usually starts sorts itself out when i restart the game in question or just rejoin. This is getting really frustrating, I've contacted my ISP but they just claim that the problem is on my end.
I'm having this discconnection and reconnection issue every 30-45 minutes, and it is extremely annoying. Especially when playing online, I always get disconnected from the server. I have tried so many things to fix it, but no change at all. I've tried to change my DNS, tried to plug the modem directly to my computer, but the problem still existed! When I troubleshoot from the windows, it says: your computer appears to be correctly configured, but the device or resource (DNS server) is not responding.
My PC at work has started disconnecting from the network one to 3 times per day and I haven't been able to figure out why. At first I thought that it was my switch so I plugged the wire directly into the wall and it still disconnected Then I thought it must be a bad networking card so I replaced that yesterday and it disconnected again. Like I said, it only happens a couple of times per day which wouldn't be so bad except that sometimes I have a Citrix session going or my Great Plains Dynamics program open and I have to go kick myself out of those sessions.
I am having the problem that my Laptop, despite full wireless signal, sporadically disconnects from the internet. I hardly realize it until I talk to my family on Skype. It happens up to every 15 minutes.
i have comcast(xfinity) as my provider.i lose my internet connection all day usually only for about 10 to 30 sec at a time then it usually reconnects on its own.somedays it may only disconnect a couple times others all day off an on.comcast told me it was my router well i bought a new one same problem.when i loose conn. it is on desktop and wireless the cable and status light on modem go orange.the modem is a d-link and the new router is netgear 900
I have a problem that Ive tried to fix but it seems impossible..I have a router : Airlink 59300 (recently bought for 102 dollars) and the problem occures when I play online games, I get 1-2 sec disconnect and that is enough to kick me out. Ive tried to ping my connection to www.google.com and my ping jmped randomly very high (up to 800 ms) then dropped to normal (25 -30 ms)I think that is the problem. When I directly plug in the cabel from modem I dont have any issues. Here is what I get when logging into router on website:[CODE]
The problem is that my internet connection either randomly loses connection for about 5-10 seconds until it gets back online or disconnects all together. When it disconnects and it can't get back online on it's own, I have to pull the power plug and plug it back in. My sister in law and I are sharing internet since our houses are about 100 feet between each other. We are using one modem, and two routers. All we did was just plug the second router to the first router and it worked! We didn't configure anything in the router control panels, we basically just plugged and play. Since it's been kicking us off or resetting on us, I feel it might be something that we had to configure in the two routers. But I don't know what to configure. Primary House Modem Belkin Router (we are wired and wireless) 150ft cable (LAN'd on Belkin, WAN'd on Linksys) Linksys Router (sister in law is wired and wireless) Secondary House
Issue: Working on the internet, my computer (LAN) disconnects, Laptop (WAN) disconnects, but the router does not disconnect. The light that shows connection to net flashes like crazy (showing ADHD *** activity), the network lights just stay stable (showing no activity). After 5-10 minutes the problem sometimes fixes itself, or, more likely, I unplug the router, wait 2 minutes, plug it back in. Sometimes it works right away, sometimes it takes a second unplug. My computer is wired to the router which connects to a modem. The modem is not mine, its installed by my ISP.
Failed attempts to fix:Replace router. Bought brand new Netgear (will put numbers in here later) to replace the Dir-825.Same issues. In fear of malware, spyware, etc (I run a tight ship on my computer, I love it dearly and I'm mildly paranoid), I formatted the SSD, reinstalled Windows 7 64bit. Same issues. My ISP has to authorize every connection, so I've used the router to use my Mac Address and I can connect with the cable directly in the back of the computer, or to the router
I am using a D-Link DIR-655 REV B (Firmware: 2.00NA) wireless router. The problem I keep having is that the internet will randomly disconnect and it happens to all my computers. I am not sure if it is the router or the modem that is causing this. The internet service provider that I am using is Time Warner Cable and the modem is an ARRIS TM502G.I have tried resetting the modem and the internet seems to come back. Same thing happens if I try to reset the router instead of the modem. I have also tried restoring the router to factory default settings and that didn't seem to work.
for some reason my laptop disconnects randomly and i cannot connect again until i go and reset the router. if i try to reconnect without reseting the router i get the message 'cannot connect to BT homehub xxx' it happens at least 4 or 5 times a day, it happened at my previous address too (completely different router & isp) im not quite sure what other info i can give relating to the matter.
Wired PC randomly disconnects from network at random intervals each dayoday it has done so 3 times. The only way I have found to get it working again is to reset the router which can be inconvenient. When it disconnects all wireless devices continue to work and I have no issues like this with my wired consolesI switched to using a static IP address, since having an automatic one gave me the same results [i have since switched back to automatic]Be happy for any suggestions on how to sort this. I am using W7 OS and I'm using an Orange router. I don't know if its relevant, but when I go to reset my router I have noticed that the download light on my router is flashing like crazy when my PC has disconnected.
The modem connects to a D-Link DIR-655 which connects to a computer (Vista) and a switch, the switch then connects to another computer (Win7) and an xbox. the problem is that the vista computer will randomly connect and disconnect from the internet/ network. The vista computer also generally runs very slow on the internet. The Win7 computer runs perfectly and there is never an issue, so I'm wondering if the problem has to do with the vista computer not being connected to the switch? It is not an issue with the router, I have tried two already and the same issue occurs.the vista computer is running with a Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R which has a Realtek 8111C LAN chipset.
I recently purchased the Linksys E1500 and at first, had no problems with it. The last few days I've had issues however. I tried logging into the internet and my WIRED computer would not connect. My wifes WIRED computer next to mine didn't have any trouble connecting. Resetting my computer didn't work. I had to cycle the router by unplugging it! Then today, my (2) kids are using Pandora on their (2) computers wirelessly, and same set up with my wifes computer and mine, and again only my computer looses access from the router and all other computers stay connected.
I just got the Alienware m14x r2 few days ago. I checked everything and there was nothing bad with my new laptop.
But today, I realized that my laptop disconnected internet randomly while I was gaming or browsing, then it automatically reconnected after 20 or 30 seconds. Sometime it could not reconnect internet, and I had to do it manually !!!!
I searched how to fix this issue from the Internet. Most people said that this problem was caused by my router, but I don't think so because my old laptop and my phone still worked well and did not have the same problem with my new laptop !!!
My wireless card: Killer wireless-N 1202, and I updated the lasted driver version.
I built my new computer a while ago & I have went through 3 wireless network adapters already... 2 from d-link that just stopped working after 1-3 months and my current linksys ae3000 disconnects from internet randomly while gaming.I am looking for a new Wireless Network Adapter, or any tips or anything to stop my current problem.

Randomly, the cisco light blinks and i lose my internet connection. I cant even ping the router. After 30 secs it works again. But this is annoying, i got disconnected 4 times today, unnaceptable. Im connected with wired ethernet. My firmware is 1.0.03.
I have a Westell VersaLink Model 327W router that is linked to two desktops, one with Windows 7 and one with XP. Our internet speed was recently increased, and ever since that happened the connection cuts out randomly and sometimes when the phone rings. After noticing the link to phone calls, I tested the connection by calling the phone to see if I could replicate the problem. However, the internet did not disconnect when I called the phone myself. On the Windows 7 desktop, the taskbar says no internet access when the connection disconnects. Strangely, Windows 7's default Troubleshoot Problems restores the connection every time. The disconnects are still extremely frustrating because they cause me to lose any online game I am playing at the time. I am not completely sure about the symptoms on the XP computer because it is not mine and I am rarely on it; however, I believe it normally reconnects after a few minutes on its own. We also have laptops that are connected wirelessly to our network. I have noticed that they tend to also lose internet access, although the taskbar does not indicate any problems. I am reluctant to believe that the problem lies in my router or ISP because the disconnects began when our internet was upgraded. I have searched the internet for fixes, but so far I have found nothing.
my computer randomly disconnects from my modem and will not reconnect until I restart my computer (do not need to restart modem). When I check the modem, it always is still running. The lights on the modem do the exact same thing whether the internet is working or not. The disconnection is entirely random. Sometimes it will disconnect immediately, sometimes it will take up to a few hours. I do not have a router hooked up to the modem, and the only other thing the modem is hooked up to is our tv. But even when the tv box is off, we still randomly disconnect.
On the previous forum thread that I read, some of the comments asked for the person to paste their entire ipconfig and their entire ping list from command prompt I will post that below: [code] Could it possibly be a virus? I am currently performing a virus scan using Microsoft Security Essentials. I will report the results of that tomorrow, seeing that it will take several (up to 10) hours to finish and it is nearly midnight of me posting this.I should also note that whenever I unplug my Ethernet cord it gives me a symbol that looks like this other than the regular disconnect with the red "X" over the wire symbol.
I have a B1, FW 2.00NA. Everything works great, but once or twice a day, randomly the wifi signal will just dropout, I cant see it in my networks list, if I connect directly to my router the connection is fine. If I reset the router by cutting power wifi will start working again. Is there an beta firmware for the B1 I can try? Everything on the router is set to pretty much default.
I have noticed that all the computers lose wifi connection at a certain time (i.e in the morning and at night).
I think it may be the router. I notice the wifi symbol on my router blinking when my macbook pro is not connected to the router after it disconnects by itself.
I have a problem with my laptop, it is an HP DV6449us with a broadcom wireless wifi card. My problem is, that my wifi will be working one second, and the next it will disconnect me, and wont let me reconnect! It will show me available connections, and will try to connect, but, fails. Usually happens when waking up from sleep, or using the laptop for long periods of time.
I have a Linksys WRT160N conencted to a pc, Windows Vista I can connect it to my ipod but after a few hours or so, it disconnects and I can get to reconnect again.
We have 2 Dell laptops and 1 Mac book all connected via a wireless router. Everything worked just fine until we got a Mac desktop which we connected via Ethernet cord for my husband's work. Now the wireless connection to our laptops disconnects at least 3-4 times per day and we need to unplug everything from the router and plug back in to get it to work again. The Ethernet connection to the desktop doesn't seem to have any issues.
Windows Vista Home Premium..Router - Belkin F5D8236-4...Whenever I use my I-Pod Touch Wi-Fi to watch Youtube, go on the Internet, Etc., Etc. It blocks the Internet to my Computer and whichever computer is on LAN. I have tried 4 different browsers and no Internet. When I click Diagnose it says "There may be a problem with your DNS configuration" I know that this is not the case because the my I-Pod is still streaming the video.
my laptop (asus) has been having issues with my WiFi. On startup, the laptop will (usually) connect to the internet fine, but after a few minutes, usually without any specific cause, it will disconnect from the internet, and the toolbar indicator will go from full signal (full bars) to no bars and a yellow triangle, saying limited access. When I try to reconnect, it will say "connecting" for a few seconds and then will say "cannot connect". I have to leave it for a few minutes every time before it will randomly reconnect until the next incident... My other two pc's (one Windows 7 and one Windows xp) do not have this issue, but sometimes other wireless devices in the house (iphone, ipad) will have a problem where the WiFi indicator will show full bars but I will not have internet access. I have to disconnect and reconnect in order for it to work. Again, it happens sporadically with no obvious cause...
