I have a Linksys WRT160N conencted to a pc, Windows Vista I can connect it to my ipod but after a few hours or so, it disconnects and I can get to reconnect again.

I just recently bought a new HP Envy m6 laptop that's not even close to a week old yet and I've run into problems with the wired connection. I have two different belkin ethernet cable cords to use and neither of them seem to be connecting whenever I plug them into the ethernet socket on my laptop. I've tried uninstalling the network adapters and updating the drivers. None of that seemed to have solved my problem so far.
Is there anything that I can do to solve this problem? I would be fine with the wireless connection that I'm currently using if it didn't fluctuate so horribly. I live in an apartment complex that provides internet access to me so I don't know what company they are using nor the router that is providing me with the wireless connection. I will be checking in with the management to see if it's not a problem with their internet tomorrow.
As for the network adapter itself, I have a Qualcomm Atheros AR9485 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter and a Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller. I'm assuming the Realtek adapter is the one that deals with wired connections. I'm currently running Windows 8 on the laptop.
I've just bought a new Dell laptop (Inspiron N5110) and have Windows 7 installed on it. Things happened when my laptop get viruses and I have to re-install everything all over again. After successfully installing Windows, I installed the drivers for my laptop.
The problem is:
I have an internet connection in my house: wired and wireless.
I can connect the wifi zone from my laptop normally. It's ok. But when i plugged in the DSL Cable, the internet connection is always disconnect and then auto-connect again and again :(

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just bought a new router - Medialink wireless-N Broadband Router model: MWN-WAPR150N I had my PC plugged into the router as a direct connection so I can use my Macbook Pro laptop wirelessly. At first, after resetting the modem (Motorola Surfboard model: SB5101), PC was connected properly as internet was working and same for Macbook Pro. However, the PC connection lasted only for a couple of minutes, more or less before it went "dead". I had it diagnosised and repaired but it wouldn't repair the problem. Each time I reset the modem and router, PC connection was fine but again, "dead" after a couple of minutes.Also, I noticed that after Macbook Pro goes to sleep, when it wakes up, it wouldn't connected either and I had to restart it to get it connected. Macbook is the only one that didn't go "dead" after few minutes, only after going to sleep and waking up.Btw, I did reset the router but no luck in resolving the connection for PC.
View 3 Replies View RelatedOn the basement level, and on level 2, I have in wall junction boxes where the Cat5E Ethernet wires come together. There are 6 lines that go from the level 2 box to 6 wall jacks on levels 2 and 3. There are also 6 lines that go from the basement box to 6 wall jacks in the basement and on level 1. There is also a Cat5E line running between the two boxes.I have wired all these plugs on both ends with T568B standard, and in each box they go into a patch panel. I have used a cable tester to test and make sure all these plugs are properly wired. I have also tested individual computers hardwired linked through to my router (without going through switches) and confirmed that they work that way, so I'm pretty sure I've wired it correctly.
At the second floor box, I have an AT&T 2Wire wifi router and modem, with AT&T Uverse service. I also have a monoprice Ethernet switch. In the basement box, I have another monoprice Ethernet switch (link to the type of switches I have is below). The switches are connected together via the Cat5E that runs between the boxes, and the second floor switch is connected to a free port on the back of the AT&T 2Wire Uverse wifi router.These wall plugs are not all currently used. In fact the problem I describe below occurs even if nothing is plugged into the wall plates.My problem is: when I hook up everything, so my wifi router is wired to the first switch, which is in turn wired to the 6 wall plugs upstairs as well as to the switch in the basement, and that basement switch is in turn wired to the 6 wall plates downstairs... at that point when I plug it in, my wifi stops working. Basically, whenever my router is plugged into this hard wired network, the wifi stops working. When I unplug the network, the wifi comes back (I usually reset it, not certain if it would come back just from waiting).
Interestingly, it doesn't necessarily stop working if most or all of the plugs are removed so the network is not connected (for example, if I just go through one plug instead of all of them)Does a network of wired Ethernet, even if not plugged into anything, cause some sort of a load or drain on the router that could make it stop working?
I just got a new internet connection after going for 2 years or so without one here at home, now that i have it and got the router installed and all my main computer a desktop (HP Pavilion a6655f Desktop PC) has not been able to connect online using my laptop i've had no problems but would really like to get my desktop online as well, I have tried the windows diagnostic tool tried resting the adapter but that has not worked.

I think it may be the router. I notice the wifi symbol on my router blinking when my macbook pro is not connected to the router after it disconnects by itself.
I have a problem with my laptop, it is an HP DV6449us with a broadcom wireless wifi card. My problem is, that my wifi will be working one second, and the next it will disconnect me, and wont let me reconnect! It will show me available connections, and will try to connect, but, fails. Usually happens when waking up from sleep, or using the laptop for long periods of time.

Everything worked just fine until we got a Mac desktop which we connected via Ethernet cord for my husband's work. Now the wireless connection to our laptops disconnects at least 3-4 times per day and we need to unplug everything from the router and plug back in to get it to work again. The Ethernet connection to the desktop doesn't seem to have any issues.

It blocks the Internet to my Computer and whichever computer is on LAN. I have tried 4 different browsers and no Internet. When I click Diagnose it says "There may be a problem with your DNS configuration" I know that this is not the case because the my I-Pod is still streaming the video.

On startup, the laptop will (usually) connect to the internet fine, but after a few minutes, usually without any specific cause, it will disconnect from the internet, and the toolbar indicator will go from full signal (full bars) to no bars and a yellow triangle, saying limited access. When I try to reconnect, it will say "connecting" for a few seconds and then will say "cannot connect". I have to leave it for a few minutes every time before it will randomly reconnect until the next incident... My other two pc's (one Windows 7 and one Windows xp) do not have this issue, but sometimes other wireless devices in the house (iphone, ipad) will have a problem where the WiFi indicator will show full bars but I will not have internet access. I have to disconnect and reconnect in order for it to work. Again, it happens sporadically with no obvious cause...

My lap top, about a year and half old (Asus g73sw), has decided to begin randomly dc'ing me from wifi networks.I'll be online and all of the sudden web pages stop loading and my wifi connection either is totally lost, or is usually available but with "limited access".I have already made sure my wifi capabilites are completely turned on, tried connecting to other networks (same problem), and updating wireless drivers. In addition, i bought a wireless internet adapter (thinking it could possibly be my wireless card going bad) and the problem was not solved at all.

The time for a fix will be limited. Wi-Fi always disconnects after about 1 hour of connection to a Wi-Fi hotspot under Windows 7 via Bootcamp.These Wi-Fi drops happen in every hotspot (fast food, hotel, other free Wi-Fi) so far.Works without drops when connected to same Wi-Fi hotspots in Mac OSX 10.x.Even works in Windows 7 when using own, separate Verizon 4G mobile hotspot, model MIFI 4510L. But again not when connected to the hotel hotspots/routers.Loses Wi-Fi connection after about an hour when on regular Wi-Fi (via router/hotspot). Happens on different Wi-Fi networks in different places -- same problem.Checked online and saw lots of people having Wi-Fi disconnection problems in Windows 7 on Mac Books (Pro and Air). Also saw people having lots of disconnection problems with just Windows 7 (without a Mac).
What makes Verizon 4G hotspot so different from other hotspots? Is it protocols? Different encryption? Something else?Obviously I can't change the settings on the routers (as they are the establishment's and are different in every place). I can only change something locally on the laptop itself.I have very limited amount of time to apply any fixes I can think of. About 1 hour; 1 and a half max. I know that it's not best for trying to troubleshoot it, but that's all I have this week to work on it. In a few weeks I might have more time to spend with it. Laptop may have Hide My Ass Pro VPN proxy installed. Can't verify at the moment. OSX has it for sure. Windows side -- not positive. But switching it off will be the first thing I'll try. What steps to try to undertake and in which order. Any way to monitor the connection live and see what caused the disconnect? Say a live or recorded log of network card and router communication? Reinstall drivers? Any better drivers available for it? The Wireless card is called Airport officially. But if remember correctly it is: Broadcom BCM43xx.
My computer has developed a habit of spontaneously having no internet connection even though it says the signal is as strong as it can be. When I began to investigate the issue I ran some diagnostics and the Internet IP ping test failed. I have no idea what that means or how to fix it. I did do a ipconfig/all on a c prompt and have the results I can post if anybody wants to see that. Beyond this I can't lend much more except to say that when it happens I can click on the troubleshooting and while it is trying to determine what the problem is (usually takes at most 30 seconds) the issue resolves itself and I can resume doing what I was doing. Last night was the worst it ever has been I had to restart my computer completely but once it had gone through the boot process and was in Windows again it was fine.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI got a brand new Vizio Ultrabook CT14-A4 running Windows 8 64bit. The problem is that the wireless will disconnect every 10-15minutes for about 30 seconds and then reconnect. It will show full bars but say No internet access or Limited. If I try to reconnect it will say that it is unable to connect to this network. I updated Windows to the fullest and updated all my drivers including the one for Qualcomm Atheros AR5BWB222 Wireless Network adapter. Nothing changed. It does this on every wifi I connect to. Including home, school, other people's houses, etc. My other computer running Windows Vista works just fine with all of these wifi networks. It only disconnects for 30 seconds to a minute, but it is irritating because it will interrupt my downloads, and time me out of any sensitive websites I was on like the bank or the University self-service website.

My isp is bt and I have a black home hub v2, the problem with this router is that it does not like doing dmz or port forwarding for that matter very successfuly, apparently the new router I have bought is much better at these things.So I'm trying to figure out if its best for me to buy a modem to go with this router or to configure the hh to work as a modem only. Also if I get a new modem will this cause any problems with using the bt vision services.

Everything on the network works great except when I turn on my cell phone's wifi connection. That disconnects my entire network from the internet and I have to unplug/replug my wired router to get reconnected. If I leave home with my phone and return, leaving the cell's wifi setting on, it reconnects to the network without disrupting the internet connection.

I have all the setting in advanced tweaked per cisco best practice. It just seems to reset every so often. Wired connection is not disconnected.

I am experiencing an issue since I bought my new laptop.I connect to the Internet with Windows 8 and TL-WR1043ND.My issue is that ever since I installed the printer utility from the site I hear an ON/OFF sound in my speaker randomly and I can not figure out what`s wrong.I think it`s trying to search for my printer but it it off.Also wi-fi disconnects randomly ever since this application was installed.What can I do to fix this issue.Computer works fine without the application.There is no report about this issue in the Event Viewer.
I currently have 3 pcs - one desktop ethernet - one desktop wireless adapter and one laptop wireless. I unplugged the desktop wireless a few nights ago - I have since been on the ethernet desktop fine but when I tried to log on with the laptop wireless - no deal. So I replugged the wireless desktop and then the laptop was o.k. to connect. This doesn't seem normal but I don't know. One unplugged pc on the network shouldn't affect the others should it?

I am attempting to run ICS in order to share the connection to my xbox. The problem comes when I attempt to plug in my ethernet cord to the computer, and nothing happens.

I have tried sharing the connection to my xbox via another laptop, and it has worked. Power saving mode is disabled in the port in the device manager, and I have no clue what is going on.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have no Internet connection, and when I diagnose it, it will say, " plug an Ethernet cable in" when there is already one in. So I will attempt to restart it, and it will freeze when it says "Starting Windows" and it will do so every time. Until I pull the power cord from the back and plug it in again. Then it will log in fine, and the same problem will occur. I ran virus scans and nothing was infected. I had just recently got it rebooted also, twice in fact since this problem keeps reoccurring. (This computer has never blue screened or crashed) Every other device plugged into the router is working fine (Gaming consoles Xbox, and PS3). My friends laptop internet was fine also when we plugged it in using the Ethernet cable when he stayed at my place for days, also no problems with the wireless devices using the router.

View 2 Replies View RelatedLast night, my internet was working perfectly and I closed my computer lid before going to sleep as usual. This morning, I wake up to use my computer and the internet isn't working. I check the icon at the top and instead of showing an empty wireless meter with an X over it, it shows a computer and a cable with an X over it, which isn't normal. My laptop is an Acer Aspire 5532 with a built in wireless adapter and it has a button near the power button that turns the adapter on and off. I decided to turn it off, give it a while, and turn it on, but that didn't fix it, so I restarted the computer.
Now, when I try to turn it on an off, it gives the wireless symbol with a circled X over it. I have checked the device in Device Manager to see if it is working and it says it is working properly. So I uninstalled it, restarted and the computer automatically installed software like it should, but that didn't fix it. I tried a System Restore, but that didn't work as well. Another thing I should mention is that I have tried rolling back the driver (which didn't fix anything), then I updated it, which also didn't fix anything.
Is there anything else I should try? The only thing Diagnostics can detect is an unplugged cable, but it's built in, so it doesn't require a cable (I've had it for >1 year and this is the first problem I've had).I downloaded Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector and it says no wireless adapters can be found.
I plug the Lenovo in to the Ethernet cable in my office, get link & data transfer lights, connect to the internet,everything works.Bring it out to different office (it's replacing an old XP machine, which connects on the cable I'm about to mention)Plug it in to ethernet, no lights, Network Cable is Unplugged.Plug cable back into old XP machine. It connects.
Bring out a Win7 Home Premium SP1 laptop. It connects.Plug back into Idea center, nothing. Drag idea centre back into my office. It works again.The Idea centre is new, so it's never worked on this area before. Also, I have 3, and they're behaving identically. ALSO, sometimes when I plug in the Ethernet cable the green and yellow indicator lights will blink once at me, and then never again.
The cable's good, works with 2 other machines. The port/NIC card is good, works in my office, the only difference between the two locations is that I have an extra router in my office that I don't have in the office the Lenovo is going in, so it MUST be something in the settings, but I can't tell what's different between the machines that work and the Lenovo.

View 4 Replies View RelatedSo here's a fresh spin (and not in a good way) on the seemingly common port-flapping issue, where a windows vista/7 machine's ethernet port vacillates between "enabling, identifying,network cable unplugged." I've tried the fixes I've seen around, like forcing the speed to 10 or 100Mb duplex,etc. But I think the problem goes deeper than that -or drivers or faulty NICs. Its acting like it's in the cabling. . . but not. Any advice would be welcome.Just switched from one DSL provider (Bell) to another (Teksavvy). Connected via a dry loop. When the Bell tech first set it up a year ago, he did it like this: Patch cord frome the Bell 2Wire modem/router combo to a female coupler. Female coupler attached to cat5 cable running about 25/30 feet along baseboards around the corner to another female coupler. Patch cord from female coupler to NIC in the back of my box. This worked fine. New set up with Tek savvy is as follows: DSL modem via patch cord to (wireless) D-Link router. D-link router connected to computer by same aforementioned setup. This results in the port-flapping named in the title of this message, on the hard line only. Any change in my computer was ruled out by connecting a brand new, never been connected laptop and the same terminal as my computer. Results in port flapping. The same laptop connected to the router by just the patch cord results in a perfect connection. I've tried moving the patch cords around, it doesn't change the results, so they're fine. I have no way of testing this long stretch of installed cable in the middle, with the couplers on it, since I don't have an equal length cable to try out anywhere, but I'd be surprised if that just died after a year's use exactly when I connected new hardware to the other end of it. Running windows 7 with a RealTek NIC on my box. D-Link router (will check the model later, at work at the moment), and TP-Link DSL modem. The system delivers wireless internet flawlessly.

I have sony vaio pczim series with win 2000 xp home edition with a broadband (cpe adsl2+ type) connection. While everything working fine for past two years, suddenly after a thunderstorm night, I noticed the network connection failure with the message. I checked the router, cable and the same are working fine with other hp laptop. Even the vaio is running with the same router while usb port is used and even the wireless and bluetooth are fine, but network with ethernet cable connection does not.
