Apr 17, 2012Last evening when I turned on lights a circuit breaker was triggered. I turned it back on and it didn't trigger again. I went to sleep but when I woke up this morning and turned on my pc I noticed that I couldn't get online. I checked my router and it was dead - no lights at all. I've tried unplugging it, letting it stay unplugged, hitting reset etc... but to no avail.Lighting and the electric outlets are behind separate circuit breakers, but the only explanation I can think of is that the triggering of the cb and my 825 dying are linked. Am l looking at a dead router or is it more likely that the power adapter got fried? I don't have a fluke at my place right now due to early packing in preparation to moving away in a couple of months time so I cannot test the output voltage of the adapter right now. . Where can I get a replacement power adapter if that happens to be the culprit?

Then yesterday out of nowhere internet stopped working and I was not able ping my ISP gateway (both wired and wireless) [Received: Destination host not reachable on both Windows Vista / 7]. Rebooted the router but still no luck. Unplugged / Replugged the net connection from the WAN port and then finally ping was successful.Now the weird this is every time I power on the router the Internet does not work and ISP Gateway seems not reachable, but if I unplug/replug the WAN connection the ping reply starts and internet works without any problem.

Jan 7, 2013Trying to troubleshoot a Cisco Pix 501. We have a cable modem/router that goes to the Cisco box that then goes to my wife's computer. It's worked flawlessly since we hooked it up, even if we unplug/replug the router. Today, we unplugged the Cisco box itself to hook up a newer one. When the newer one didn't work, we tried to hook up the old one again to no avail. The led indicators seem to show that everything's working properly. We've unplugged and rebooted everything. Nothing works. The network monitor on the computer shows that it detects being connected to a network, but it always says no internet access.

Then it tells me my internet cable is unplugged, but I able to browse the intrnet, like now. It tells me to plug it in and hit next, I hit next and it eventually gives me the same message. I've tried unplugging my modem, resetting the router etc. But when trying to run the disc when it gets to that point it always tells me my internet is unplugged? I can even browse the internet while that message is up.

Nov 29, 2011I have version A3 hardware with the latest firmware installed. When i use wireless N, after transferring a large file from my PC to my NAS over wireless, the router slows to a crawl once the file is done. The next file i try to transfer moves at about 200-300kB/s as opposed the the previous 8+MB/s. Watching nextflix and gaming is also slow. After i unplug and plug back in the router, everything is fine. It doesn't do it everytime, but does happen often enough to be frustrating.
After experimenting with different wireless N settings, and trust me i've tried like every combination. I set the router to wireless G only, the transfer speeds are about 2-3MB/s but it always has that speed. It's been stable for well over a month now. But i bought an N router, and want faster speeds. What's the warranty period for this router?
D-Link DCS-930L :: Turn Off Camera?
Jan 22, 2012I have the DCS-930L set up at home with motion detection emails. I only want it to be sending emails when I am not home, of course, but there's no way to turn off the camera through my dlink.com as far as I can tell (only an option to remove the camera, which I assume is something more drastic). Is my only choice to unplug the camera when I don't want it emailing?

Jan 15, 2009We have a new DCS-5220 that we're playing with, seeing what we can do with it, and have a number of questions as well as one possible bug to report. I was somewhat surprised when tier 3 support said this was the best place to cover them all - including the bug.We are using firmware version 1.02, which is what the camera came with.
In the webgui, under Configuration > Tools > System > "Turn off the LED indicator" this is completely ignored by the camera. The red power LED is always on, and the green status LED flashes as long as it has a network connection. This is clearly a bug.What is the root password?Is there a URL we can pole for a static image? (ie.url... which would trigger a snapshot every time the URL is requested)Are there any shell commands for motor control? If so, what are they?Is there a shell command to retrieve logged in users? If so, what is it?Is there a shell command for controlling the LED activity? It would be really nice if the status LED lit green when there was someone logged on to the webgui. Perhaps this is the intended activity, and it not doing so should be filed away as part of the above bug..

Unplugged Pc Affect Other Pcs?
Jun 5, 2011I currently have 3 pcs - one desktop ethernet - one desktop wireless adapter and one laptop wireless. I unplugged the desktop wireless a few nights ago - I have since been on the ethernet desktop fine but when I tried to log on with the laptop wireless - no deal. So I replugged the wireless desktop and then the laptop was o.k. to connect. This doesn't seem normal but I don't know. One unplugged pc on the network shouldn't affect the others should it?

Nov 26, 2012I just recently bought a new HP Envy m6 laptop that's not even close to a week old yet and I've run into problems with the wired connection. I have two different belkin ethernet cable cords to use and neither of them seem to be connecting whenever I plug them into the ethernet socket on my laptop. I've tried uninstalling the network adapters and updating the drivers. None of that seemed to have solved my problem so far.
Is there anything that I can do to solve this problem? I would be fine with the wireless connection that I'm currently using if it didn't fluctuate so horribly. I live in an apartment complex that provides internet access to me so I don't know what company they are using nor the router that is providing me with the wireless connection. I will be checking in with the management to see if it's not a problem with their internet tomorrow.
As for the network adapter itself, I have a Qualcomm Atheros AR9485 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter and a Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller. I'm assuming the Realtek adapter is the one that deals with wired connections. I'm currently running Windows 8 on the laptop.
Network Cable Unplugged Even Though It's Connected
Sep 13, 2012I am running an ethernet cord from my xbox 360 to my Acer Aspire TimelineX 3820TG-3022 Laptop Computer. I am attempting to run ICS in order to share the connection to my xbox. The problem comes when I attempt to plug in my ethernet cord to the computer, and nothing happens.

Jan 19, 2013I have no Internet connection, and when I diagnose it, it will say, " plug an Ethernet cable in" when there is already one in. So I will attempt to restart it, and it will freeze when it says "Starting Windows" and it will do so every time. Until I pull the power cord from the back and plug it in again. Then it will log in fine, and the same problem will occur. I ran virus scans and nothing was infected. I had just recently got it rebooted also, twice in fact since this problem keeps reoccurring. (This computer has never blue screened or crashed) Every other device plugged into the router is working fine (Gaming consoles Xbox, and PS3). My friends laptop internet was fine also when we plugged it in using the Ethernet cable when he stayed at my place for days, also no problems with the wireless devices using the router.

Built-in Wireless Adapter Cable Unplugged
May 15, 2011Last night, my internet was working perfectly and I closed my computer lid before going to sleep as usual. This morning, I wake up to use my computer and the internet isn't working. I check the icon at the top and instead of showing an empty wireless meter with an X over it, it shows a computer and a cable with an X over it, which isn't normal. My laptop is an Acer Aspire 5532 with a built in wireless adapter and it has a button near the power button that turns the adapter on and off. I decided to turn it off, give it a while, and turn it on, but that didn't fix it, so I restarted the computer.
Now, when I try to turn it on an off, it gives the wireless symbol with a circled X over it. I have checked the device in Device Manager to see if it is working and it says it is working properly. So I uninstalled it, restarted and the computer automatically installed software like it should, but that didn't fix it. I tried a System Restore, but that didn't work as well. Another thing I should mention is that I have tried rolling back the driver (which didn't fix anything), then I updated it, which also didn't fix anything.
Is there anything else I should try? The only thing Diagnostics can detect is an unplugged cable, but it's built in, so it doesn't require a cable (I've had it for >1 year and this is the first problem I've had).I downloaded Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector and it says no wireless adapters can be found.

Oct 10, 2012I plug the Lenovo in to the Ethernet cable in my office, get link & data transfer lights, connect to the internet,everything works.Bring it out to different office (it's replacing an old XP machine, which connects on the cable I'm about to mention)Plug it in to ethernet, no lights, Network Cable is Unplugged.Plug cable back into old XP machine. It connects.
Bring out a Win7 Home Premium SP1 laptop. It connects.Plug back into Idea center, nothing. Drag idea centre back into my office. It works again.The Idea centre is new, so it's never worked on this area before. Also, I have 3, and they're behaving identically. ALSO, sometimes when I plug in the Ethernet cable the green and yellow indicator lights will blink once at me, and then never again.
The cable's good, works with 2 other machines. The port/NIC card is good, works in my office, the only difference between the two locations is that I have an extra router in my office that I don't have in the office the Lenovo is going in, so it MUST be something in the settings, but I can't tell what's different between the machines that work and the Lenovo.

Nov 22, 2011So here's a fresh spin (and not in a good way) on the seemingly common port-flapping issue, where a windows vista/7 machine's ethernet port vacillates between "enabling, identifying,network cable unplugged." I've tried the fixes I've seen around, like forcing the speed to 10 or 100Mb duplex,etc. But I think the problem goes deeper than that -or drivers or faulty NICs. Its acting like it's in the cabling. . . but not. Any advice would be welcome.Just switched from one DSL provider (Bell) to another (Teksavvy). Connected via a dry loop. When the Bell tech first set it up a year ago, he did it like this: Patch cord frome the Bell 2Wire modem/router combo to a female coupler. Female coupler attached to cat5 cable running about 25/30 feet along baseboards around the corner to another female coupler. Patch cord from female coupler to NIC in the back of my box. This worked fine. New set up with Tek savvy is as follows: DSL modem via patch cord to (wireless) D-Link router. D-link router connected to computer by same aforementioned setup. This results in the port-flapping named in the title of this message, on the hard line only. Any change in my computer was ruled out by connecting a brand new, never been connected laptop and the same terminal as my computer. Results in port flapping. The same laptop connected to the router by just the patch cord results in a perfect connection. I've tried moving the patch cords around, it doesn't change the results, so they're fine. I have no way of testing this long stretch of installed cable in the middle, with the couplers on it, since I don't have an equal length cable to try out anywhere, but I'd be surprised if that just died after a year's use exactly when I connected new hardware to the other end of it. Running windows 7 with a RealTek NIC on my box. D-Link router (will check the model later, at work at the moment), and TP-Link DSL modem. The system delivers wireless internet flawlessly.

May 22, 2011Same problem ' network cable unplugged' even if it is physically connected. I have sony vaio pczim series with win 2000 xp home edition with a broadband (cpe adsl2+ type) connection. While everything working fine for past two years, suddenly after a thunderstorm night, I noticed the network connection failure with the message. I checked the router, cable and the same are working fine with other hp laptop. Even the vaio is running with the same router while usb port is used and even the wireless and bluetooth are fine, but network with ethernet cable connection does not.
