I set up my linksys e1000 years ago and haven't had a problem. Yesterday, it was accidentally unplugged. Now it no longer works and I do not have the CD. How can I get it set up again?
View 2 RepliesI have been using this router for the last six months and never had a single problem. Then yesterday out of nowhere internet stopped working and I was not able ping my ISP gateway (both wired and wireless) [Received: Destination host not reachable on both Windows Vista / 7]. Rebooted the router but still no luck. Unplugged / Replugged the net connection from the WAN port and then finally ping was successful.Now the weird this is every time I power on the router the Internet does not work and ISP Gateway seems not reachable, but if I unplug/replug the WAN connection the ping reply starts and internet works without any problem.
View 3 Replies View RelatedTrying to troubleshoot a Cisco Pix 501. We have a cable modem/router that goes to the Cisco box that then goes to my wife's computer. It's worked flawlessly since we hooked it up, even if we unplug/replug the router. Today, we unplugged the Cisco box itself to hook up a newer one. When the newer one didn't work, we tried to hook up the old one again to no avail. The led indicators seem to show that everything's working properly. We've unplugged and rebooted everything. Nothing works. The network monitor on the computer shows that it detects being connected to a network, but it always says no internet access.
View 1 Replies View RelatedGot the cisco EA4500 router, installed it and ran the set up disc. It downloads whatever it needs to download, then proceeds with a progress bar all the way to 100. Then it tells me my internet cable is unplugged, but I able to browse the intrnet, like now. It tells me to plug it in and hit next, I hit next and it eventually gives me the same message. I've tried unplugging my modem, resetting the router etc. But when trying to run the disc when it gets to that point it always tells me my internet is unplugged? I can even browse the internet while that message is up.

Unfortunately, I cannot connect to the configuration of the router by typing url...in a browser, be it wireless or weirdly. For example, Firefox displays "Connection has been reinitialized". Furthermore, when I launch Cisco Connect, it only shows the error "Unable to connect to router". I tried to switch my router off and on, but that doesn't work. Totally resetting the router solves the problem, but not definitely.Is there a solution that does not require resetting my router?

I tried to reset it but I dont think it worked, since the power LED didnt blink as its supposed to do after holding reset for 10-15 seconds (or more!!).

It's been set at wpa2/wpa mixed mode all this time without a problem. Out of the blue: no wireless connection on any device. I restarted the modem, router, PC's, phones, etc. I've updated the firmware. The only way I can get a wireless connection is to use wep. How can I get the better security and speed of wpa2 back?

For my desktop PC in oder to use the router to get on the internet or to even use the Cisco Connect to check the router, the E1000 needs to be rebooted. I am unable to access the router otherwise. I have tried 3 different LAN cards all with the same results.
The latest firmware notes do not look like upgrading the firmware will work. My Router info from Cisco connect

View 1 Replies View RelatedI had an E1000 for a couple of years that worked OK. Then it went nuts--sporadically dropped the signal, wouldn't show its web page, etc.--maybe a power surge, who knows? So I tossed it and got a new one on the theory that it would be a plug in replacement .The new unit had a good signal, but also wouldn't show its web page, so I couldn't configure security. I removed Network Magic and everything else I could see pertaining to the old unit. However, the CD for the new unit still gives me: " Your router has already been set up. You need to use an Easy Setup Key that you can use to get other computers connected." Needless to say, I don't have such a thing. Cisco Connect is not installed at this point, so I can't go into it to create one.How can I purge the remains of the old unit so the new one will install properly?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have E4200 connected to Internet. It is configured with NAT. My side of the router is set to 10.10.10.0 and DFG is set to 10.10.10.254. Server is connected at 10.10.10.1 and is DHCP host.I now have E1000 that I want to connect downstream side of the E4200 (located on the other side of the building). I want the E1000 to be an extension of the existing network so the whole building looks like one network. I'm not sure how to configure the E1000. I assume I need to disable NAT but I'm not sure how to configure the Internet IP addresses of the router and nro am I sure how to configure the local network side of the router.As I write this, I wonder if I connect one of the Ethernet ports of the E1000 to the E4200 and just leave the Internet side unplugged?

I've looked through the FAQ section and didn't really find anything. I'm trying to set it up on a laptop, it's a Vaio running Windows 7, I don't if that makes any difference.

Its like there is a timer and it reset's the wireless connection after some time. I was unable to measure the time after which it resets but its happening too frequently causing multiple internet apps to fail example if I am downloading something it will fail as the internet connection is reset. The firmware I am running on the rotuer is 2.0.01 and I have configured DHCP on the LAN, I am experiencing this problem with 3 laptop that I use at home which uses both G and N networks.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been searching off and on for the past couple months trying to figure out what we could do to our router to open our NAT, after having both the PS3 and Xbox 360 tell me I've got moderate NAT. I tried a DMZ with my PS3 having a static IP, I tried UPnP. I messed with firewall settings, to no avail.
I recently found something that did work however, on Google. Basically what happened was, I needed to reset the router and change a few settings on top of enabling UPnP I didn't know about(CTS Protection, remote management) how they could have anything to do with translation of data.
But like I said, after doing a huge step by step walk through, I was able to get open NAT in the network tests of both PS3 and 360(even though the PS3 obviously still says Type 2. It used to say Type 2, but it also used to have an error code at the bottom of the page). I've checked in games on each console, and they tell me I've got open NAT.
Now I still have one tiny problem. Red Dead Redemption. I play Red Dead Redemption online with two friends(who, incidentally, have the same router as me), and we haven't been able to communicate if we were using routers. We still can't, but I'm thinking that it's not my router anymore. I'm thinking his router has incorrect settings. Am I correct?
So here is the issue:
When I connect my modem directly to my computer (modem > computer) it works just fine, internet connects and everything through the direct ethernet connection.But when I connect the modem to the router and then try to connect wireless with any other computer (modem > router > wireless) nothing works. Not even when I have it connected directly from the router to the ethernet on the main computer. (Which has ALWAYS worked until now.
my brand new Linksys E1000 wireless router. I am really struggling and cannot figure out what I am doing wrong.
I live in The Netherlands, have a modem (DSL I think...) and can connect wired through the modem with no problems.
I installed the E1000 with the CD, followed all the steps and my laptop is finding the network. However, it's only local, no internet and I don't understand why. Have tried to connect (wired) my computer to the E1000 and the E1000 to the modem but that doesn't work either.
However, my 13" Macbook (running Lion) sometimes finds if hard to connect after I turn it on. I will have to continously turn off and on the wifi of the macbook to have it force to look at wifi networks. It will not be able to see also other wifi networks which are present in my neighbors which my windows 7 and other machines can see. After playing around with it I found that the macbook will connect to wifi only after I connect it momentarily via cable. I do this everytime I turn on my macbook.I just upgraded to a Macbook Pro running on Lion and the same thing happened. I tried the same solution of connecting first via cable but to my disappointment, would not see any wifi network including my neighbor's which again the other machines can see. So I am stuck with using cable for now.

View 9 Replies View Relatedmy E1000 router locks up and I lose Internet connectivity until I unplug the router's power cord, wait for 10 seconds or so, then plug it back in and let it restart. This seems to be triggered (a.) when I land on a web page with intensive graphics, etc., that takes a while to load, or (b.) if I launch a web page really quickly while another one already is up. it doesn't just happen spontaneously when I'm working on the computer. This computer I'm working on is old and slow, which is why as per my earlier inquiry about having to reconfigure the router and network , I'm looking at changing to an up to date and faster model. I just updated to the latest firmware, probably a week or so ago, but the router was doing this before then and still is doing it now.

Save changes and i get a changes save message. When the browser goes back to the applications/gaming screen no port shows as being forwarded. View 8 Replies View RelatedJust got the new Linksys E1000, and follow the Cisco Connect to setup. No IP received from the service provider (which is Fibre-to-the-building, no modem is required). Goto the setup page and confirmed that the connection type is "DHCP".Once i unplug the cable from E1000 (internet port) and plug into my old wireless router, everything work nicely. The internet connection & cable itself seems fine. Switch the cable into notebook, and get the IP as well, it seems the service provider didn't lock the mac address of the devices (routuer nor PC). Cloned the mac address but nothing improved.Tried release the IP before unplug from the old router, switch off old router, and wait 10mins before connected to E1000 but still no luck.
