D-Link DAP-1522 :: Bridge Mode - Turn Off Wireless?

If I turn off the wireless on my DAP-1522 in bridge mode, will it basically become a Gig Switch??  I've changed my network around abit and don't need it in bridge mode at this point but would love to use it as a plain switch.  Would this do the trick??

D-Link DAP-1522 :: Wireless MAC Cloning In Bridge Mode?

May 16, 2011

I'm running the 1522 as a bridge with v1.21 firmware.  I have 2 devices wired to it. I have Wireless MAC cloning disabled (not checked). If I scan my network using a tool such as ipscanner (http:url.....) the devices attached to the bridge are being listed with the 1522's MAC address - not their own.

The connected devices should be showing up with their own MAC addresses.  The 1522's address should only be displayed IF MAC cloning is enabled and IF the cloning mode is set to Auto - is my understanding of this feature incorrect or is my 1522 not performing as spec'd?

D-Link DAP-1522 :: A1 In Bridge Mode Intermittent Wireless Connection Drops?

Apr 21, 2013

I have a brand new DAP-1522 A1 connected to an 802.11n wireless LAN in bridge mode. Running in the 2.4GHz band with WPK-2 and AES security/encryption.Everything runs fine 99% of the time, but once a day or so the wireless LAN connection on the DAP-1522 drops and then takes about two minutes to re-connect.  It re-connects and then everything is fine for a day or so until the next dropped wireless connection episode on the DAP-1522.  I know my 802.11n wireless network is 100% fine as during the dropped connection to the DAP-1522 I can connect directly to the 802.11n wireless network (running from my gateway/router) using my other computer, no issues.I've seen some posts on this forum that the A1 version of the DAP-1522 hardware is not 100% compatible with the 802.11n network standard and there will be intermittent wireless drops.  If this is true, it's just insane.  All I can say is I can't believe DLink would allow a product to be sold that won't work properly on 802.11n networks.I check the logs each time I see the dropped wireless connection and all that shows is the following.1) Negotiating connection   2) 4-way handshake success [mac address]There's no message in the logs about why the wireless connection dropped, but I assume it has something to do with re-newing a key for the wireless network as the successful key renewal messages are the only other messages in the log.  When the wireless network dropped I don't see the successful key renewal message at the time I should see it.I thought this DAP-1522 would take 15 minutes to configure in bridge mode and then I'd forget about it.  Spend too much time on this already, so a bit disappointed with this DAP-1522 and DLink tech support....though when it's connected to the 802.11n wireless LAN it works fine.

D-Link DAP-1522 :: Bridge Mode In Next House

Apr 13, 2011

I m setup for my brother's next house. He wants to use to share with my internet access. I do have 2wire modem provider that has wireless capability in my house. So he have DAP-1522 [bridge mode] and adjust in Wireless Setting, to use SSID manual, (Bell9**) WPA. It s successful, and works well. Problem is cannot use wired to computers, blu-ray, Xbox 360 in same time. it will disconnect frequently because in bridge mode doesn't have DHCP reserved?

My bro bought other one is DIR-655.  DAP-1522 keep in [bridge mode] to link to DIR-655 (Static IP), and setup DHCP Reserved.  He feel relief that works very well and have no problem with any computers and devices doesn't disconnect anymore. my question is why DAP-1522 doesn't have DHCP reserved when bridge mode that connected to any providers modem?

D-Link DAP-1522 :: Bridge Mode - Cannot Ping DIR-615

Nov 23, 2010

I am running a DAP-1522 (v1.21) in Bridge mode with a DIR-615 (1.00VG).  I have configured the DAP-1522 to access the WiFi network and can see it connects correctly.  I have a PC connected to the DAP-1522.  Most of the time I can ping the DAP-1522 from the PC but cannot ping the DIR-615.  Occasionally when I reboot everything again I can ping the DIR-615 and get full internet access but this usually only lasts  a minute or so then it drops.  After that I can only ping the DAP-1522.  The DAP-1522 always says the Status is "connected" though.

The IP addresses are as follows:
DIR-615: 192.168.0.1
DAP-1522: 192.168.0.50 (static)
PC: 192.168.0.55 (static)

D-Link DAP-1522 :: A1 Bridge Mode Disconnect Randomly

If you are using DAP-1522 A1 and set to 5GHz 802.11 n bridge mode but disconnect randomly. Don't bother to do any troubleshooting because DAP-1522 A1 only support 802.11 draft n and incompatible with 802.11 n. If unit still under warranty then call D-Link and request unit replacement and ask for hardware reversion B1.

D-Link DAP-1522 :: Bridge Mode Connection Settings?

Apr 25, 2012

I currently have a DAP1522 in Bridge mode with a DIR655.  I am only using the 2.4GHz G mode on my 655.  In a few days I will be replacing the 655 with an 825.  When I log into the 1522 I don't see any settings for Mode, Frequency or Width (while in Bridge mode).  The page for wireless setup is blank except for the "Save Settings" button.  When I look at the 655, it appears that the 1522 is connected (bridged) at 2.4 GHz G like I would expect.  So, when I install the 825 how do I make it connect at 5GHz N or will that be automatic if my SSID on the N mode of the 825 matches SSID on the 1522?

D-Link DAP-1522 :: Ethernet Ports Isolated In Bridge Mode

Jun 13, 2012

I have a DAP-1522 in my den that I am connecting as a bridge to a Netgear WNDR3800 that in turn is connected to a cable modem in my living room.  I have multiple PC's connected to the DAP-1522 via the Ethernet Ports.  All the Ethernet connected PC's are getting IP addresses from my Netgear WNDR3800 via DHCP and can access the Internet fine.  The weird thing is the PC's connected to the DAP-1522 through the Ethernet ports can't see each other - they are isolated from each other.  I can see the DAP-1522 hard wired PC's from a laptop connected wirelessly through the Netgear WNDR3800 but the PC's wired to the DAP-1522 can't see each or communicate to each other via IP, though they can communicate to anything else on the Netgear WNDR3800 wireless network or Internet.Only the PC's connected to the DAP-1522 via the Ethernet ports are isolated from each other.  Very strange.  This is a problem because I have a NAS device I want to connect to the DAP-1522 that will be shared by the PCs in my den.  I do software development and want access between the PC's and NAS device at Ethernet Gigabit speed. I am using default configurations for the DAP-1522.  It appears that firmware for the bridging function if funky.  I am on firmware version 1.41.  The hardware release is A1.Not sure if it is an issue with the DAP-1522 or the Netgear WNDR3800.

D-Link DIR-655 :: Extending Wireless Range Of Router - Installed DAP 1522 As Bridge?

Mar 30, 2011

We currently use the DIR 655 in our home. I has a great range, and we've never had any problems. Our house is a very tall Victorian, so some areas don't get as strong a signal as others. I'd like to set up a few addition devices to extend the coverage of our network.

I installed a DAP 1522 as a bridge to our entertainment PC. After a while of trying to sort out how to configure it everything is working there. The 1522 is connected to the PC via cable.

I still want to extend the overall wireless range to better cover the lower floors and back porch.

From reading the manual on the 1522 I am a bit confused. I understand how it works as a bridge, connecting devices via cable. Will it also extend the range is set as an Access Point without needing the devices to connect via cable?

But, in my new flat I find that the walls are pretty thick and my wifi signal is dropping off pretty quick, so  I was wondering if you can configure the DAP-1522 to simultaneously be a wifi bridge to feed my media clients, and an AP to feed any laptops that might be in use in the living room?

D-Link DAP-1522 :: Using As A Bridge With WNDR3700 Router?

May 20, 2011

I've been playing with this setup for over a month with no real success.  I'm trying to use the DAP-1522 as a wireless bridge to provide connectivity to my entertainment center which consist of a PS3, Directv DVR and Internet ready TV.  I tried the setup as described in the manual, but not getting to the internet.  Initially I was able to connect the 1522 as a bridge, but the connection kept dropping, especially anytime I actually used the internet (downloading a VOD movie).  While troubleshooting the dropping issue, I changed all the 1522 settings and now it cannot access the internet at all through.  The WNDR3700 is routing my home network fine...it is setup on the 192.168.1.x address space.  I understand the 1522 came setup for 192.168.0.x, is the 192.168.1.x/192.168.0.x thing jacking things up?  I initially had the 1522 setup with the 192.168.1.x IP from my home network and the gateway set to my WNDR3700 (192.168.1.1)...should it be on the 192.168.0.x?  I have updated the firmware to 1.31.

So, I have to disconnect everything, bring the 1522 back to my main PC, attach it, let it connect properly, then unattach and re-attach at it's use site.

D-Link DAP-1522 :: Make MAC Addresses From Bridge Will Be Recognized Separately

Nov 4, 2010

I purchased a wireless bridge D-Link DAP-1522 (IP fix 192.168.0.50) to share the Internet connection to two remote devices: WD TV Live HD (IP fix 192.168.0.52) and a Samsung BD P2500 player (IP fix 192.168.0.51: to try the BD-Live) but when I plug it into my network I have an IP conflict and I can not navigate anywhere, even by the computer which control the Netgear router (IP 192.168.0.1 DHCP range 192.168.0.2-192.168.0.49).

I tried with all fixed IP (192.168.0.xxx Subnet mask 255.255.255.0 Gateway 192.168.0.1 DNS 192.168.0.1), but nothing to do, I have the same problem: after a few minutes after plugged the network cable into BD player the network falls.With wired connection (10 m of patch cable!!!) Samsung BD P2500 have no problem (DHCP and IP fix).

Then look closely in the information relating to devices connected to the Netgear router I noticed that all devices connected through the bridge DAP-1522 have the different IP but same MAC address and I think this could be the cause of the problem that creates the Blu Ray when it's connected to the network through the bridge, because he is not identified with any name but only as UNKNOWN as the bridge (a problem that WD Live not seen: same MAC address but is identified by name as WDTVLIVE).

How can I make the MAC addresses from the bridge will be recognized separately from my router/modem Netgear?In the settings of the bridge I noticed that you can enable or disable MAC address cloning, but if the off I would expect that cloning was not done and instead all the devices are identified by the Netgear router with the MAC address of the access bridge.The DAP-1522 masked the MAC address of device that are plugged into bridge.The router has the latest available firm while the original bridge has version 1.20 (the penultimate version available).

Any configuration tips I read somewhere that with an E3200 router they had to set the 5ghz channel to like 37 for the DAP to see that channel its all getting a little overwhelming here's whats in the house A Mac Power PC pre Intel using a Asus NB13 USB 2.4ghz its the only thing i could find with speeds over 100Mbps A windows 7 machine hardwired gig connection another windows 7 pc downstairs hardwired a netbook with a wireless connection and lastly a DECT 6.0 phone system who knows what interference these produce.

D-Link DAP-1522 :: AP MODE Doesn't Work?

Jan 6, 2011

I have a DSL router Pirelli PDF A1000G.I have a Linksys e3000 and I have a dap-1522.When I bought a dap-1522 I thought it could do access point in fact i saw many videos in dlinktv before choosing an access point from DIY with mike etc to youtube there are 2 videos one showing bridged mode and another ap mode!Now what happens is this I have upgraded from firmware 1.11 that came as default to 1.21 i connect it wired to my linksys e3000 when it is connected with the ethernet cable wired I can connect to the internet and navigate and open sites and my ps3 can connect to it but my range is not very good only 40%!

Now I bring it downstairs remove the ethernet cable and connect it to the power and then you can connect to it but since it isn't connected to my router which is upstairs i can't access websites neither can I play on my ps3!I don't know does only ap mode works when it is connected to the router wired because what happens is if you don't put ethernet cables in the back of the dap-1522 and just connect it to power then here doewnstairs you can connect to the dap-1522 my signal is like 87% but while I'm connected with my laptop I can't access websites and in the ps3 I can't connect!

and choose  access points there are (4) listed: dap-1522, dap-1160, dap-1353 and dap-2553, I thought of buying dap-1522 because it could support abgn while 1160 only supports g and 1353 only supports n to repeat to signal here downstairs and be a good access point!

D-Link DAP-1522 :: Dropping Connection When Using N-mode

Sep 19, 2009

I have just upgraded my network to the 802.11n standard, or at least am trying to do that. Im using a DIR-615 as Access Point and a DAP-1522 as bridge to cover the entire area.After having some trouble figuring out how to set up and connect the devices, i figure out that it might some other problem than my setup of the devices (The symptom was that the connection was ok, but then it seemed to be dropped, even though the DAP-1522 still displayed connected in the status page).

After reading what I could find about the DIR-615 and DAP-1522 in this forum and on the internet, I found a suggestion about changing the Wireless Mode from 802.11b/g/n to 802.11b/g, and after doing that everything works fine, its just not an upgrade anymore.I have fixed the channel to 10, just to check that it wasnt  noise from other equipment. The symptoms are very reproducable, trying to connect wiin n-mode and bridge only works for 30-60 secs. Switching back to b/G mode and all is fine.

The wireless will connect to the E4200, it gets allocated and IP address in the correct range and the gateway is shown as the SuperHub's IP address, and I can see the E4200's management website via wireless, but I cannot connect to anything beyond the E4200.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Using EA3500 In Bridge Mode?

Feb 16, 2013

I bought the EA3500 nine months ago mainly for the USB port (for a NAS). I recently replaced Comcast Cable with Verizon FIOS. So I now have the FIOS router as my main router (its' IP address is 192.168.1.1). I put the EA3500 in bridge mode to extend the (wired) network. I could get: After going in to bridge mode (with DHCP), I can not log in to the EA3500 (IP address 192.168.1.5 assigned by the FIOS router). I connect my computer directly to one of  the EA3500 numbered ports (after various combinations of rebooting EA3500 and rebooting PC). It just continues to say "waiting" and never logs in. Tried choosing a static route (tried both 192.168.1.43 and 192.168.1.5 with 255.255.255.0, gateway and DNS1 = 192.168.1.1) with no luck.Since I can't log in, I cannot set up my NAS on the USB port of the EA3500 (so I haven't gotten far enough to determine if the USB port will even work in bridge mode).Thought about ensuring the latest firmware but since I can't log in I can't do that. (And after a hard reset EA3500 IP address is 192.168.1.1 which creates conflict with FIOS)

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 Possible To Put It Into Bridge Mode

Sep 26, 2011

As I understand, the latest FW for the E4200 makes it possible to put he router into bridge mode. In this mode, I can use it as an access point. In bridge mode, should I then connect my router to the WAN port at the E4200?The other way to make the E4200 into an AP, is to disable DHCP and NAT and give the E4200 an IP address out of range for the DHCP range in my preferred router.

Choosing between this two option to make the E4200 into an AP, which is considered to be the best solution?And to be sure; using this option, then the Ethernet cable should be connected to the LAN port of the E4200? is the performance of an E4200 in AP mode the same as a dedicated AP like the WAP610N?

However, I noticed that the port speed is only 100 Mbps on the port that is acting as the link for the bridge.  I am running brand-new CAT5e thru the house, and if I connect the cable directly to my laptop - I get 1Gbps. So I know that the cable is good.

Is there a way to change the speed of the INET port on the down-level e4200?
