D-Link DIR-601 :: Configure In Bridge Mode As An Access Point?
Aug 23, 2011
My apartment already has internet provided to all of the rooms, but I'm trying to set up my router as a wireless access point. I tried disabling DHCP on the router, but then I wasn't able to get any internet access at all. Does this device not support bridge mode?
Just bought a new router and repeater for a wifi hotspot i am currently running.. I thought i was havng problems with the repeater after i change from router to a server, (and i'm now using a router in bridge mode) so the server is managing all the dhcp.. etc, Hence, the router is Running as an access point. The server which is a Hotspot Server does the rest. For some reason, repeaters, do connect to the access point apparently, but when connecting the client to the repeater (instead of access point) I can't get internet access. although i do get access to the repeater setup.and access point setup too.. or if that is the fact that repeaters must be connected to a router, not access point? should I use it as a WDS? or AP-wds? I have a Cisco Lynksys e1200 router (which i'm using as access point) and an Encore ENXWI-1AN45 3 in one range extender?
We have 4 access points in my network i want configure 1 is ap mode another 3 is bridge mode Is it possible to configure in 4410 N ? if i configure bridge mode can i use single SSID&Securtiy key for all aps. how to i use these 4 access points
I have spent most of the weekend trying to get this router to act as a proper Access Point.
When it does work (Stay connected) speeds and latency are rotten. If I go back to Routing Mode this thing kicks butt, but I isolate all devices attached to a different subnet and trying to set up proper routes has proved imposable. Firmware 1.0.2 r 13
The online help stated to connect to the "internet interface" when in Bridge Mode DHCP Server Is not broadcasting to on the wireless or wired interfaces.
If I used the wired interface as the uplink I can broadcast the DHCP to any device on wired but again nothing to the Wireless. When I "Show Routing Table" I see two static routes pointing to the ATT router for the Wired/Wireless Interfaces.. 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.0 (my Gateway) Wired/Wireless (my Gateway) 255.255.255.0 0.0.0. Wired/Wireless
AP mode should only be working in Broadcast. By connecting the Wired Interfaces alone up to my switched network should not use the router at all. If you force all traffic to my router all traffic has to be inspected by the firewall You create a bottleneck my router interface is 10/100.
ATT 2 Wire Gateway/Router with pinholes. 10/100/1000 Non managed 24 port Switch Network. Server infrastructure serving DNS/DHCP.
I decided to buy this after reading it offered Bridge/Access Point mode instead of getting the WAP610 because I wanted to have the option to change to routing mode or AP mode. Since my ATT Uverse Router Wireless is “g” it takes forever to transfer files to and from my servers.
Can I use two WAP54G APs in bridge mode to file share. I'm not interested in sharing internet. Just need to share files between two desktops. Would this work if I set a static IP on the two computers or do I need to have a router in the network as well?
I have a Cisco 880 (supplied by my company and as such I have little access to the control panel). I have a Linksys (Cisco) E1200 to use as an access point. Cisco setup (love it!) but the simple setup gives the E1200 an ip range starting at 192.168.1.1 while the Cisco 880 range is 192.168.185.113. I need to have all connections in the same ip rage (192.168.185.xxx) for remote monitoring. What is the best way to accomplish this? Bridge mode (I don't need Guest Mode which I read is not possible in bridge mode)? Disable DHCP on the E1200?
How do I connect to the EA6500 once it's in Bridge mode acting as a wireless access point? Checked the posts and some seem to be able to do this but, we cannot.
We have a RV120W Wireless-N VPN Firewall and we want to configure the router in brigde mode (transparent). Because we have another Firewall, use for filtering and default gateway on the LAN. The ISP provide IP address by DHCP, so we must connect the internet connexion to the WAN interface. But How can we do for connected the RV120W to our firewall? The router mode on the RV120w allows-it to make this configuration?
I have 12 wap4410n to enable wireless connection to a school building with 3 floor. I planned to configure one as a Access point. My doubt is in which AP mode i have to configure the rest as WDS Bridge or WDS Repeater other mode. In each access point i have Ethernet connection to the switch.
I like the ease and price of the 655 as well as the range and speed. I was wondering if you can use them as a bridge to connect another building or just add a second as an access point? It does not seem straightforward from the control panel.
I have an ADSL2 connection at home served by a DLINK DSL-2760U modem+router . I also have a DIR-655 router. Is there any way I can use the 655 as a wireless repeater/access point/bridge to connect to the 2760U (reception issues between the floors)?
a customer got an 1552 outdoor AP in local mode and installed it at a building. It has to run as a Mesh AP (MAP). Now the AP connects one time to the WLC 5508 and started a download. After that, the AP never came back. Like we saw on the other installed 1552 RAP's, they all where in local mode.We configured all AP's to bridge mode, but the MAP could not join anymore. Is there a CLI command to change the mode on the AP itself? From the WLC it's not a problem, but for the AP CLI I cannot find sth.

I'm trying to configure my WAG200G to work in bridge mode so that it can transfer my external IP address to my ISA server. My network map is very simple,Internet -- WAG200G -- ISA Server -- LANCan
I am new to cisco ASA. I need to configure ASA 5520 in transparent bridge mode. [code] I need to place the new asa firewall in transparent mode. How to configure the firewall in transparent bridgmode.
So basically I have a C877 and a Cisco ASA 5505 and I want to push the public IP of the ISP to the outside interface of the ASA so the Cisco 877 will only be responsible for ADSL and PPPoA. Don't ask me why I don' t use a modem/router instead. I know that is a waste to use the C877 in this way but I want to test the setup.
Right now the config of the C877 regarding ADSL and PPPoA looks like that ( I don't have the ASA connected yet, so all the PC are connected directly to the C877 right now):
interface ATM0 no ip address load-interval 30 no atm ilmi-keepalive pvc 0/35 encapsulation aal5mux ppp dialer dialer pool-member 1
interface Dialer1 ip address x.x.x.x 255.255.255.248 ip access-group OUTSIDEACL in ip nat outside ip inspect FWRule out ip virtual-reassembly encapsulation ppp dialer pool 1 ppp authentication chap pap callin ppp chap hostname xxxxxxx ppp chap password 0 xxxxxxx ppp pap sent-username xxxxxx password 0 xxxxxxx
ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 dialer 1
ip nat inside source route-map Nat interface Dialer1 overload
interface vlan 100 is my LAN configured with DHCP.
how I should configure the C877 to push the public IP to the ASA?
My client has a DSL modem and a Belkin wired 4-port router configured to connect to it using PPPoE. Apparently there is no way to configure the E2500 such that it may be dropped in as a direct replacement for the Belkin (which would also provide wireless access) without the PPPoE login/password (from the DSL provider, Verizon).
I would like to connect the "Internet" port of the E2500 to one of the Belkin's 4 ports, in order to use the E2500 for wireless internet access without using any of the 4 wired ports but I think this creates a NAT within an existing NAT network?
To avoid that if I configure the E2500 in wired bridge mode, it becomes transparent, and I can no longer access its administration interface using the address 192.168.1.1 (since that address belongs to the Belkin). How may I, for example, change the wireless password which the E2500 is in wired bridge mode?
How do I connect and configure my WAP54G wireless access point to my new Cable Modem? I have it connected to the modem but I cannot access it to configure it. It appears to be working but before I got the cable modem I had it connected to a router and it was set-up with a static IP address. With my new ISP, I no longer have a static IP address so I am trying to configure the WAP54G to use DHCP. Trying to access it thru the internet at 192.168.1.245 does not work.
config to setup PPPoE on the cisco 831 router to be used with a modem in bridge mode. I have tired other peoples configs found on the web but, not all the commands were available on the IOS version thats on the router. Also note that I bought this as a used router and I dont have a service contract so I am unable to download an updated IOS. The router ver is 12.3(7)T9 and the IOS is c831-k9o3sy6-mz.123-7.T9.bin. Running config below is last tried still could not connect or get ip address from isp. [code]

I'm facing problem to properly set BRIDGE mode (WDS Bridging). I had a router connected to ADSL line with following setting:
IP 192.168.1.1 Security setting - WPA2/TKIP DHCP on
The wi-fi coverage is not good in all the floor so I'm trying to extend coverage using a TL-MR3220. I did follow the instruction in this video [url]....
I m setup for my brother's next house. He wants to use to share with my internet access. I do have 2wire modem provider that has wireless capability in my house. So he have DAP-1522 [bridge mode] and adjust in Wireless Setting, to use SSID manual, (Bell9**) WPA. It s successful, and works well. Problem is cannot use wired to computers, blu-ray, Xbox 360 in same time. it will disconnect frequently because in bridge mode doesn't have DHCP reserved?
My bro bought other one is DIR-655. DAP-1522 keep in [bridge mode] to link to DIR-655 (Static IP), and setup DHCP Reserved. He feel relief that works very well and have no problem with any computers and devices doesn't disconnect anymore. my question is why DAP-1522 doesn't have DHCP reserved when bridge mode that connected to any providers modem?
I am running a DAP-1522 (v1.21) in Bridge mode with a DIR-615 (1.00VG). I have configured the DAP-1522 to access the WiFi network and can see it connects correctly. I have a PC connected to the DAP-1522. Most of the time I can ping the DAP-1522 from the PC but cannot ping the DIR-615. Occasionally when I reboot everything again I can ping the DIR-615 and get full internet access but this usually only lasts a minute or so then it drops. After that I can only ping the DAP-1522. The DAP-1522 always says the Status is "connected" though.
The IP addresses are as follows: DIR-615: 192.168.0.1 DAP-1522: 192.168.0.50 (static) PC: 192.168.0.55 (static)
I've got a DIR-655 set in bridge mode after a Cisco router. It's been working great for months, but now I'd like to add a new wireless device and want to get the settings. For the life of me, I can't remember how to access it now.The subnet is 192.168.2.XXX I've got a Mac connected through the "internet" port and a cat5 cable. I figure I should be able to go from 192.168.2.1 through 192.168.2.254 and will eventually find it. Is there something I'm missing?
I currently have frontier dsl internet and am using the isp provided modem/router combo and a DIR-655. I have the modem running in bridge mode and the 655 set to PPPoe connection, MTU at 1492. I confirmed the MTU setting on the isp modem/router before bridging it. The question i have is if the router MTU is set to 1492 does everything on the LAN side of the router run at 1492 or does it run at 1500 while the router breaks the packets up? Everything works fine but my pc's all use vista and i'm not sure where to check the mtu settings at and all my game consoles are set to mtu automatic so i can't really see what they're running at either.
I turned it on for bridging and it did not auto setup wireless so i need to turn off WPS but my wireless option page is now blank. I rebooted, reset the DAP but still no manual config option. I found I could configure it if I switched it to AP mode but still cannot setup from bridge mode. According to manual a reset does not turn off WPS so what is the answer?
