View 11 RepliesI have just been escalated to Level 3 support about my bridging issues.Bridge / Repeater mode configuration separated by 150 feet. Worked perfect for over 3 months.Upgraded firmware due to lockups starting to happen, now cant get the bridge / repeater to work longer than 15 min. After MANY support calls, new devices sent (version 2's) still no luck.
Talked to Marcelo at1 866 606 1866 and he stated that the Bridge / Repeater mode will not be supported farther than 50 Feet.(seems like a cop out to me) He didn't seem to have an answer as to why it worked for 3 Months other than interference Of which I have ran spectrum analyzers and see no Interference. **** even 10 feet away I cant get the units to work longer than 15 min.So I definitely think the 50 foot thing is a BS answer.
Also they have told me that External Antennas are not supported with these devices.Again even though People 500 feet away connect just perfect (without a bridge / repeater mode) with 50% coverage!
so here I am (spent 600 bucks) on bricks.. and nobody will support the device and I cant seem to get my money back.I have 8 customers with these devices, I am not going to use Cisco any longer. However will continue to fight this,as we all seem to have the same BS issues.
I have been using WAP4401N for almost a year in our office and I’m very happy of this device, never had any problem. So I bought 3 new ones for our customer which supposed to work in configuration below:
Network ----- AP1 –Bridge mode ----- AP2 – Bridge mode -----AP3 – Access Point mode.
Everything was working perfectly fine to the moment than bridge was broken. I can get access to all AP (obviously when connected to proper part of network) however not able to ping from AP2 -> AP1 or opposite so basically no link between AP1 and AP2. After reboot everything is working fine to next time (happens twice in two days). When I go to System Performance can see Connection is enabled but doesn’t work.
I upgraded firmware to latest version (2.0.5.3) but haven’t worked. When I’ve done some research found many users having similar problem with this device and basically they recommend to don’t buy. Unfortunately this is not an option for me as I’ve already purchased them.
a customer got an 1552 outdoor AP in local mode and installed it at a building. It has to run as a Mesh AP (MAP). Now the AP connects one time to the WLC 5508 and started a download. After that, the AP never came back. Like we saw on the other installed 1552 RAP's, they all where in local mode.We configured all AP's to bridge mode, but the MAP could not join anymore. Is there a CLI command to change the mode on the AP itself? From the WLC it's not a problem, but for the AP CLI I cannot find sth.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy client has a DSL modem and a Belkin wired 4-port router configured to connect to it using PPPoE. Apparently there is no way to configure the E2500 such that it may be dropped in as a direct replacement for the Belkin (which would also provide wireless access) without the PPPoE login/password (from the DSL provider, Verizon).
I would like to connect the "Internet" port of the E2500 to one of the Belkin's 4 ports, in order to use the E2500 for wireless internet access without using any of the 4 wired ports but I think this creates a NAT within an existing NAT network?
To avoid that if I configure the E2500 in wired bridge mode, it becomes transparent, and I can no longer access its administration interface using the address 192.168.1.1 (since that address belongs to the Belkin). How may I, for example, change the wireless password which the E2500 is in wired bridge mode?
Is it possible to configure bridge mode in asa 5505 if it is can u provide me a config.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI want to achieve the following setup:
So basically I have a C877 and a Cisco ASA 5505 and I want to push the public IP of the ISP to the outside interface of the ASA so the Cisco 877 will only be responsible for ADSL and PPPoA. Don't ask me why I don' t use a modem/router instead. I know that is a waste to use the C877 in this way but I want to test the setup.
Right now the config of the C877 regarding ADSL and PPPoA looks like that ( I don't have the ASA connected yet, so all the PC are connected directly to the C877 right now):
interface ATM0 no ip address load-interval 30 no atm ilmi-keepalive pvc 0/35 encapsulation aal5mux ppp dialer dialer pool-member 1
interface Dialer1 ip address x.x.x.x 255.255.255.248 ip access-group OUTSIDEACL in ip nat outside ip inspect FWRule out ip virtual-reassembly encapsulation ppp dialer pool 1 ppp authentication chap pap callin ppp chap hostname xxxxxxx ppp chap password 0 xxxxxxx ppp pap sent-username xxxxxx password 0 xxxxxxx
ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 dialer 1
ip nat inside source route-map Nat interface Dialer1 overload
interface vlan 100 is my LAN configured with DHCP.
how I should configure the C877 to push the public IP to the ASA?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a room cut off from the wired network by concrete walls (there are windows and it's a very short distance). There is a device in that room with a wired network adapter than needs access to the network. We'd like to use a pair of WAP4410N devices to get that room on our wired network over a simple "wireless bridge."
Would the following work?
Connect one WAP4410N normally with WPA2 Personal encryption and connect it to our wired network. Enable repeating of its signal.Set up the "remote" WAP4410N in the "cut off" room. Give it the same SSID and Encryption settings. Enable "Wireless Client Repeater" mode and uncheck the box labeled "Allow wireless station to associate". . . then use its RJ45 network port to connect to the wired device in the room. My biggest concern is the part in bold. Will the network port on the "remote" repeater function like that? So that any devices (or a switch) plugged into it will then be "forwarded along the bridge" to the main/local AP and then onto our network?
send me wireless bridge settings for WAP 4410N.
I have purchased two sets of WAP4410N and i need this to connect as wireless bridge to use our external office users(1 or Max 2) which is just beside our office building to surf our internet and retrieve data from our main server.
I ordered a pair of WAP4410N to use as a bridge for a split office. So far they have worked without a hitch but the throughput is less than stellar and I was wondering what the recommended configuration was for best performance (and how much speed could be expected in general) out of these two? [code]
The two nodes are separated by about 25 yards across a parking lot with direct LoS to the other, placed inside a window mounted on the wall -elevated at about 10' so cars in the lot outside do not block visibility. At best the throughput I've seen is 1megabyte/sec, and that seems very slow/clunky to me for the 802.11n specification. Am I missing some setting, updated firmware, or physical setup (AC power instead of PoE for better antenna output maybe?) to have such limited performance?
I am using 2 WAP4410N in bridge mode with WPA2 Security. The bridge seems to be stable but i get poor transfer rates.Distance between devices ~ 8m - nothing between.Wireless networkmode: N-Only, Channel: Auto, Channel Bandwitdh: 40MHz (also tried auto and 20MHz)Firmware 2.0.2.1 because got different problems with 2.0.3.3One side is connected to my LAN other is connected to a notebook.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to make a bridge with 2 WAP4410N access points. But what is the totaly distance that the access point can make to have an good connection in an open area?
So example:one WAP4410N in a house (near a window) and the other in a house (near a window) and the 2 houses lie 200 meters of each other. Is this possible?
If it is not possible with this access points, what is then an option/possibility ?
The admin guide for the WAP4410N, explains the default setting for the Wireless Network Mode field:
"B/G/N-Mixed—(Default) Connects all the wireless client devices at their respective data rates in this mixed mode."
What does this mean exactly? Does it mean that I can have some clients using G at G speed; and some clients using N at the faster N speed? And both at the same time?
I can't see how that is possible as the AP only has one radio? If it is possible; then why is one of the options G only - that allows both G and N, but a G speeds only?
Should I set the Channel Bandwidth to 20Mhz or 40Mhz? The admin guide says that N will use 40Mhz and B/G will use 20Mhz. What is the difference in practice?
I also have problems with this type of accespoint, i have 2 (one in AP mode and the other in Client/Repeater mode).
Very often the connection between the pc and the repeater, and also between the 2 accespoints just "drops" out (like its resetting itself).
The accespoints are in enough range of eachother, so thats not the problem.
After the contact with Cisco here in Holland they said this type (4410N) is not stable with the 2.0.0.5 firmware, and its also limited to the B and G (not N) wireless, because else the accespoint will be even less stable??.
When can we expect a propper solution to this Cisco problem?
1) Apparently, my Cisco modem likes to assign new IP addresses to things, so I didn't figure out the web access page until an hour in (was NOT 192.168.1.245)
2) Do I input the same IP address, subnet, DNS and default gateway as my Cisco modem? It has a wireless router and switch bundled in, should I use the wireless network's MAC address or the wired?
Currently, it's set to 'automatically configure':
IPv4
Local IP Address: 192.xxx.x.xx
Subnet Mask: 255.xxx.xxx.x
Default Gateway: 192.xxx.x.x
Primary DNS: 64.xx.xxx.xxx
Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0
I can access the page fine, but I cannot get the wireless client working...
3) I did a site survey and found my existing network and inputted its SSID and MAC address, but nothing happens. I still get one bar on my wireless devices indicating the AP isn't working.
I have purchased 4 of these devices about 2 months ago and have experienced all of the issues reported within this thread. The came with the 2.0.0.5 FW rev installed, so unless the 2.0.0.5 on the cisco DL site is different, nothing I can do with that.I've tried making them work as stand alone AP's, Bridge<-> Bridge, etc... all modes seem to lock up eventually needing a reboot to get any functionality back.Ultimately, I need to make them work in AP<->Client-Repeater mode. I've not been successful in making them work in any mode for a prolonged period of time.
having just rfound this thread today, I have not tried hard coding the NIC's to 100/full, but will give it a try. If it works, great, but then that would defeat the purpose of buying an N radio AP. I would like the potential 300Mbps throughput.
Does the data rate to N connected clients go down to G rate if there is even a single G client connected?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a WAP4410N which I have had for awhile and the performance was flawless at what appeaared to be 300 Mbps. I udated the firmware recently to 2.0.4.2. This is when the problems started. Within 15 feet of the acccess point it would drop the connection and speeds were under 65 Mbps. I factory defaulted the unit and reinstalled the firmware with no changes. I run several other access points of differnt manufacturers and I get fantastic performance on draft N and G. I did check all the laptops for network adapter incosistansies. Have I made a configuation mistake? I only changed the IP address to bring it into the range of other devices. I use a sa520 router and a Trendnet Gigabit switch and a server with MS SBS 2008 which works well with all but the WAP4410N.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI need to configure a WAP4410N for use on a small, very simple business network. There should be a corporate WLAN and a guest WLAN. The corporate WLAN should allow anyone connectd to it to access resources on the domain.
In front of the WAP is a cable modem/router and a basic Level 2 (web managed) switch. What do i have to do to segregate the corporate and guest networks.
I thought I would add the corporate WLAN to VLAN1 (assuming the default VLAN in the switch is VLAN1). Then I figured I could create the guest WLAN and assign it to VLAN2 which which will be controlled entirely by the 4410N (DHCP, DNS, etc.) Does this sound like the right way of going about things?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWe have some rolling carts used for telemedicine and are currently using Linksys WET610N wireless bridges. I haven't been very impressed with them - I have to reboot them at least once a week and figure it's a roaming issue. Since they are a residential product they probably weren't designed to do a lot of roaming.I started playing around with WGB and setup an 1142 AP and got it to work. Unfortunately, the only place I can put the AP is inside the cart and the metal top seems to be interfering with the wireless signal.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to get confirmation on whether you can have workgroup bridge mode on the 1040 series model.
The 1041N has the same IOS as the 1141/1241 and it has the settings are there, but I read somewhere on the cisco site that workgroup bridge is only supported on 1100 and 1200 series, is this correct or old information?
Scenario is: I have an existing stand alone 1041N AP, on the other side of the building I have a network LAN switch with a couple of PCs, instead of running cables I would like to add an AP as a bridge to link that switch and PCs to the network that the AP is plugged in to. I believe this is called Workgroup Bridge Mode. In fact there already is a cheap non-cisco wireless device doing this but it is unreliable.
I just placed an order for Two 1041N APs, do I need to change the order to Two 1141N instead?
Also even if the 1041N does not support workgroup bridge mode, can it still act as the ROOT Bridge and have 2 1141N APs configured in bridge mode connected to the 1041N?
I have a WLC2504 and 2 LAP1261N (converted from autonomous to lightweight) with release 7.0.116.0 and I want to create a point-to-point mesh link between the 2 APs. When trying to change the APs mode from local to bridge I receive the message "This AP does not support bridge mode" even if the release notes say that mesh is supported on AP1261N. I tried to change the mode from gui and also from CLI.

I am using autonomous 1252 AP's and am considering either briding or workgroup bridging.
The issue I am encountering is that the AP inside a van is a router that has to do DHCP across the wireless and because the ethernet interface between router and AP in the van never goes down the router does not know to re-DHCP. I remember from way back there was an IOS command to track a serial interface and drop the ethernet if the serial link goes down. Is there an equivalent command for AP's to drop the ethernet interface if the radio interfaces go down?
