We have a wireless router so our iMac reflects a wifi signal so that our ipods etc can access the wifi. I purchased a vaio e series yesterday and connect seem to connect it to the wireless netwrork, whenever I select our computers network from the lists of avalible networks a new window appears which says ''windows was unable to connect to ________ iMac" Ive tried almost everything and spent hours on it yesterdat trying to fix it. I then went to my friends house and used their wifi so I know there is nothing wrong with the computers ability to connect.
my laptop Sony vaivo VGN-N38E/w cannot connect to through wifi to DSL wifi of ptcl but others at home can connect . My laptop connects to othres outside home but not inside?
My Sony Vaio laptop is experiencing slow internet speed even though the signal level shows as excellent. This is only when using it upstairs, where it is normally used. In the same room as the router it is fine. This has only just starting happening and it was OK anywhere in the house until a couple of days ago. To make it even more confusing my wife's notebook and my iphone work fine on the network in the bedroom.
I'm currently experiencing an issue where the on/off switch to my Sony Vaio VPCCW21FX is currently a little bit loose. I don't recall ever applying any type of shock to the computer but realized when I pulled it out of my bag, it was somewhat loose which was strange because I always handled my laptop with great care. So I'm attempting to connect to my WiFi network and when trying to turn it on and off, I don't get a response from the computer indicating it's now ready to search for a network, it acts like I intentionally turned off the WiFi and kept it off even though I have it turned to off.
I attempted to run the troubleshooting process on the laptop but it states that I need to turn on my WiFi to fix the issue but I already have it switched to on.
Now I know at this time that I wouldn't be able to get this repaired without being charged an arm and a leg so I wanted to see if it was possible to turn on the WiFi from within the laptop, somewhat like using software to turn it on instead of the hardware on/off switch for the wireless connection.
Basically when I try and connect to my wifi (netgear router) I get a very strong signal but local only access & an unidentified network. I have my desktop & 2 more laptops running off this router so it can't be that. After failing to connect to wifi I tried to use an ethernet connection to try and update my drivers in hope that would fix the wifi problem. After plugging the ethernet in I was in exactly the same position, I kept getting 'Identifying' appear in network connections which then turned to unidentified and wouldn't allow me to connect to the internet either! The laptop is about 3-4 years old I think so I did update the drivers but that didn't do anything either,
i just bought a new Sony Vaio VPCSB 490 X Laptop. I should preface this with the fact that my old vaio i had to get rid of because it stopped connecting to any wireless networks (among other reasons.) I had it looked at and was told the wireless card was broken.
My problem with the new one is that i can only get limited connectivity to the network, even though all other wireless devices in the house are fine. Here's the ip configuration i brought up when the computer was connected to the router with an ethernet cord:
Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7601] Copyright (c) 2009 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved. C:UsersTaylor>IPCONFIG/ALL Windows IP Configuration Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : Taylor-VAIO Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . :
I am using a VAIO with win7. Also I have several items conected to the network. Since two week, my VAIO is not able to conect any WiFi network. I reinstaled the driver of the atheos9285 also tried to fix IP crash. Not much hapend. I downloaded the mentioned Xirrius WiFi Inspector, and when I click the Network on the upper left corner I get no information there.
my sony vaio will not connect to the internet. after trouble shooting it say that my intel wifi technology will not start. even i open the the program and try to enable it it still says error code 10 wont start.ive uninstalled and re installed and nothing is working, still can not connect to my network adapter.
So i recently just obtained a Vaio Sony Windows 7 laptop. I turned it on and everything was working fine. I used the internet for about a minute then my internet disconnected and was unusable. I opened my desktop computer to see whats wrong but the connection there also stopped. I troubleshooted and it says i cannot communicate with Primary DNS server. It says i am connected but i have no internet access. I am currenty using my iPhone to type this.
I have had some problems in the last few days regarding my wireless router. i am using a Sony Vaio VGN-NS30E laptop with a TP-Link Wireless N Adsl2+ modem router. ISP = Utility Warehouse. Network Adapter = Atheros AR928X Wireless Adapter.
I can connect via Ethernet, but as soon as i try and use my wireless it comes up with "unable to connect". I also have a Print server running in the other room to allow me to print wireless. I have had all the wireless connections working up until this week (monday).
Called technical support after losing internet connection repeatedly and internet getting slower. ISP know reckons i should be getting up to 11.5mb's per second download, but connecting is the problem now.
my newer laptop that I have only had for a few months will not by any means connect to my router at home. However, it does connect to pretty much any other router wherever we go. And there kicker is, the desktop I am on now, my phone, and pretty much everything else, WILL connect to my router (both n and g wireless devices). So, here are the details: My laptop is an HP Pavilion G Series, running Windows 7. My router is an N600 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router (WNDR3700). The computer I am currently using (and do the router config on) is running Windows 7 as well. The router has both a g and n setup (WPA2-PSK [AES] pass). Passwords for both n and g are the same, so there is never any confusion.
we have 3 laptops connected to our home network, 2 Gateways and my Sony Vaio. We have AT&T U-Verse and the 2 gateways get speeds of ~12Mb/s while I get speeds of less than 3Mb/s. I've searched countless forums but I can't seem to find the problem. We got U-verse installed in January and the internet on my laptop was on par with the other ones. But I went back to school and came back home for break and it's as slow as mollases.
I bought my Sony Vaio notebook about 2 years ago and have since had problems connecting to certain networks. The laptop will connect to the network but when i open my web broswer it doesn't let me access any web pages. Basically there's no internet connection even though im getting a full strength wifi connection.
This problem only happens in certain locations. My parents house its fine (using a sky router), my old house in London fine (sky router again), my friends house (doesn't work), my new house (doesn't work - BT router), on the train (no again)
Its very frustrating, although it was manageable before as it worked in both my houses. However now it doesn't work in my new house its pretty much pointless me having the internet.
I have a year-old Sony Vaio laptop which connected to the internet without any problems on my BT Homehub connection. However, I recently moved in with my girlfriend who has a Virgin media connection and, although I can connect to it without problems, it is extremely slow (around 0.30 mbps) whereas my girlfriend's laptop is fine (9.74 mbps), we both have iPhones which are also fine therefore I'm pretty certain the problem lies with my laptop. I have tried updating the wireless card's drivers (windows tells me they are up to date) and I've also tried disabling my Norton 360 but it didn't make any difference.
I have a desktop computer, Sony VAIO laptop, and a Motorola router. The computers are both running Windows 7 Professional. The desktop computer is running 32 bit Windows and the Laptop 64 bit.
My network appears to be Windows Homegroup which got setup after a crash of the desktop. Previously, I ran a network setup with Motorolas tech support and it ran fine (before crash and reinstall on desktop computer). I had access back and forth between both computers. I would rather not run Windows Homegroup but it looks like I am stuck with it if there is no way to remove it and resinstall another network or unless I can have two networks on my computer.
The error message that I get when trying access my laptop from the desktop is
"Windows cannot access \name-VAIOackups You do not have permission to access \name-VAIOackups"
I have set file sharing on both computers and am running all files as administrator. How can I regain access between these computers?
I can't get wi-fi on my linksys to work with my computer. It finds it as a network but doesn't allow internet. cord connection works but no wi-fi. My computer data: Sony VAIO, Windows Vista, linksys adapter.
My Sony Vaio was stolen and I dont have any tracking software on it. I was told it can be traced using the serial number this is not going to work as the serial number is not digital is this correct? If so is there any inbuilt device or software ect: that comes installed when you purchase the laptop? I am desperate to find my laptop as it has personal information stored on it of my partner who recently passed away and non of this is replaceable. I would prefer to find it without using the authorities as i know who this person is i just dont know where this person has stored the laptop. It would be best for the authorities not to be involved for my safety.
My Sony VAIO VPCEH36FX laptop has trouble staying connected to wireless for long. I've only had it for about a week now and it's been happening since Day 1. It alternates between trying to connect, to being connected but with limited access, to not being connected at all. However, if I unplug the router and plug it back in, the laptop will work fine anywhere from 30 minutes to a couple hours. But after that it goes back to trying to connect/limited access. I doubt it's a problem with the router, as all other devices in the house work fine with it. It's a Linksys Cisco router. It doesn't have a password or anything.
I realise many people are having this issue and there any lots of threads about it all, which i have spent hours looking through forums for answers but I am not that computer savy to understand it all...Haven't really come accross the same scenerio as i am having, so here it is: Just brought a Sony Vaio Laptop running Win 7 home Premium. Have a desktop computer running xp which is connected to modem and router...Am running a D-link DSL-502T and Linksys wireless-G broadband Router, model :WRT54G.My issue is i can connect to the wireless network through the laptop but when i switch the wireless switch on the laptop every few minutes the desktop PC will drop the connection and display network cable unplugged, then goes back and fourth connecting and disconnecting every few minutes....as soon as i flick wireless switch off on laptop all is fine again.....wireless works as have another laptop running windows 7 pro and can connect mobile phone through wireless and ipad etc...I have had the internet load web pages but connection doesnt stay on...Does the same thing when i try connecting directly using network cable.
For the past few days my laptop (Sony Vaio VGN-CR353) suddenly unable to detect/find my home wireless network but my other devices (ipad2/ipod) can detect my own wireless network. My laptop can however still can detect my neighbours' wireless network.
I have a friend with a secure wireless network in his house. When I first took my laptop over there I couldn't connect to it even with his network password. I spent some time tweaking his router by updating the firm ware via his laptop. I was able to get connected with great speeds with my laptop but his laptop couldn't do anything. I contacted the router support and it was recommended I do a hard reset on the router. So I did that. Now we can both get connected to the router and his laptop does fine but my laptop won't load a single page of anything. It shows I am connected at 54Mbs but the page times out before it loads a single bar in the IE progress window. Heck, even on dial up at home it only takes 15 seconds to fully load my home page. I double checked the frequency to see if that would make a difference. Doing that verified I'm on the right frequency. He still has the security set up on the router which does keep me from connecting until I add the security key. Then it connects fine but as I said with no thru put.I have a Sony Vaio FE660 with XP Media Edition. He is running Vista.
I have a Sony Vaio Laptop VGN-NS20M and have rebooted it as had a few issues with it. Now the internet drivers have disappeared from device manager. The only thing there related to the internet is under modems. Which has nothing to do with the wifi or the ethernet port.So cannot connect via wireless or the ethernet. Seems strange both have failed. There is no ? or yellow! there, as there is no devices there.I have tried the drivers from the Sony website but they just do nothing, and the troubleshooting from the network icon just says Windows cannot find a driver for your network adapter. Its a dual boot laptop with Vista and Win7 and have the same issues on both OS.
I am facing a kind of weird problem!! My Sony Vaio was getting connected to my Home wifi network and I could access Internet without any problem. Its been few days now that I can't access Internet though it shows connected. It does connect with the Wifi without any issue and even show the full signal like before, but actually there's no internet access. No browsers (IE,Chrome,FF) load any webpage, no messengers work.
My wifi was installed about two weeks ago and up until now its been fine. My ipod connects to the wifi just fine while my laptop acts as if it is non existent.
My old laptop(packard bell) stopped connecting to wifi. it says something like "only local connection", i had problem with that before, but it dissapeared when i restarted the laptop. now i really cant do anything, i tried to connect to other networks but it wont, and restarted it like 4 times...i have an old belkin router(5 yrs or something) and the laptop is 4-5. its a vista.
I am at my friend's house and she cannot connect her Acer laptop to the her own wifi (netgear router). Her iPad and my laptop (lenovo) both can connect to the wifi. This would lead me to believe that the issue is with her computer but her computer can connect to other wifis in the area...just not her own. I am not sure what is causing this...it may be that program "Acer eNet Management" but that still doesn't explain why she can connect to other wifis and not her own. Is there maybe a compatability issue with netgear and her wifi card?
