My son has just got a new tv for his room so moved the XBox 360 upstairs. It would connect to the wifi no problem before but now it won't. My daughter is able to use her laptop upstairs via wifi no problem. We are a bit rubbish when it comes to technology so can't understand this. When we go through to the network settings it just says we need an adaptor fitted to the console

My XBox is downstairs and connected wirelessly to a Belkin Router downstairs. The Belkin Router is then connected to my Linksys Router to access the internet.
I can access XBox Live and the internet through both the XBox and my pc BUT the XBox doesn't see the computer on the network.. so I'm unable to stream files from my pc to the Xbox.
I'm attempting to stream movies from TVersity to my XBox but my XBox can't see my pc..
adapter is not turned on . how do you do that?

Both cables work great from the router to my Thinkpad PC, and both work through the same port on the router. on my xbox the 10 foot cable works immediately when I hook it up to my xbox. The 75 foot cable will just not work to the Xbox. Again, it works fine to 2 of my laptops in the house. Is there a problem with Xbox and Long ethernet cables?

my pc connects just fine, i've powered cycle the router, tried renaming the router, opened all the required ports, reflashed the router to the current firmware.
I have an original Xbox 360 (wifi not built in) and the external wifi adapter. With all previous Cisco routers, I have been able to connect my Xbox successfully and quickly. Now, however, I am experiencing much difficulty.
I have verified I am using the latest firmware for my router, and configured my router like this: [URL] in terms of ports. I have also used the Xbox's MAC address to give a static IP address via my router's DNS.
The Xbox can see both my main wireless SSID and my guest SSID but cannot connect to either.
I have recently purchased a WAG320N. It is working perfectly, connecting 3 PC's, 2 Xbox 360's and a laptop to the internet and each other.
However as all media files are stored on one PC I was thinking about getting a external USB drive and connecting this to the router and use that as the media server, this would save a PC having to be on all the time.

WRT610v2 running latest firmware.xbox 360 sees both the 2.4 network (ssid = network1) and the 5.0 network (ssid network2) when it does its scan.Initially, xbox showed network strength for 2.4 network at 3 out of 4 bars and 5.0 network at 1 out of 4 bars.Connects to 2.4 network just fineWon't pull an ip address and reports "Not connected" when I select the 5.0 network.I tweaked the wireless settings per some suggestions I found in this forum and now it shows the 5.0 network at 4 out of 4 bars signal strength. Also turned security on and off and xbox 360 reported the changes in security on the 5.0 network.So the xbox 360 is definitely seening the 5.0 network. and can tell if it is running WPA2 or not..If it can see the 5.0 network and recognizes what security and network type (infrastructure) is set, would would stop it from connecting to the WRT610n router and getting an IP address? No mac filters or firewalls are set and, again, connects just fine and gets an ip address if I select the 2.4 (network1 ssid) instead.

The two Xbox can play online separately, when either one of them attempts to join the others party it disconnects from Xbox live.
According to the microsoft website, Xbox live only supports the Hardware version 1A and Firmware: 1.00NA.
My router has B1 and 2.00NA. is there a way to downgrade?

I have been suffering with WiFi problem since last week, I am not able to connect to WiFi but all connections are visible. I called up my ISP guy to replace the modem but still I was not able to connect to. Yesterday I called up dell (my system is under complete cover), they have tried several things and I was sitting next to my internet modem It got connected. Then to be ensured I restarted the system and my laptop got connected to WiFi. When I moved bit far away from WiFi again the same issue I am not able to connect to.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo, I have TalkTalk broadband. For the past few years I have used the WiFi not connecting with the Yellow wire. But now I want to move a PC up stairs. I brought a longer White wire so it would reach from downstairs where it is plugged in to upstairs (if I just plug in modem in upstairs it will not connect) So this is the idea I have downstairs the phone that is plugged into another white wire extender that leads from the main plug in the wall. In that extender is the phone and the OTHER extender that leads upstairs to a room just above. The extender leading upstairs has the internet modem plugged into it. now the extender white wire from the other extender downstairs has one of those white square plugs. (the ones that go from the main socket and the phone and modem connects too) And that Square plug is where the modem is plugged into. BUT now this is the annoying part! it will not connect to the internet without being in the same plug as the phone downstairs!
