(Netgear N-300 And Linksys AE2500) / Wireless Network Adapter Not Working
Jan 14, 2012
I have purchased a couple network usb adapters (Netgear N-300 and Linksys AE2500) and both work fine surfing the internet but when I try to play World of Warcraft the wifi loses connection to the router and I lose all internet capabilities on my computer. My friends computer is still able to use the internet though.

Yesterday I bought a linksys AE2500 usb network adapter. So I set it up on the computer downstairs from the router, roughly 30 ft distance. There is a desktop running a linksys pci card directly next to it. So I fire the computer up it see's the network but it won't connect to it. Then I take the computer up to the room the router is in and it connects. The range on the adapter says 300 ft and I do realize that there are walls and other obstructions that cause that number to fall but I find it hard to believe that the adapter is out of range but I can't think of anything else to explain it.

I'm starting this thread because I can't get my new Linksys AE2500 wireless use adapter to connect to my new Linksys X2000 ADSL modem. I purchased both of these devices because my old 2wire modem kept dropping the wifi signal and I had to keep turning off and on the modem in order to get the wifi signal back. Now my problem is that I can't connect my AE2500 adapter to the x2000 modem at all, heck I can't connect any wifi enabled device to the modem even though the SSID and password is correct. The adapter finds the network but it can't connect to it at all. The x2000 modem works perfectly since I can use the internet if I connect my computer to it via Ethernet cable but unfortunately I have my desktop in my room and the modem is in the living room so connecting using an Ethernet cable really isn't an option. I tried using my old 2wire modem to see if it would connect to that modem and it did as a matter of fact and the speeds were good but as of late, the speeds have been horrible and the signal drops every few minutes. I get 1 bar in the network status and speed of 1.0 Mbps. Here is a picture for reference:
The problem only persists when using wifi though because when connected to the 2wire modem, the speeds are fast. Range isn't really a problem because im like 10 feet away from the router so I'm not sure what's causing that problem. I assume it's the modem being that its about 7 years old so I would really like to get my x2000 working to see if it's better than my old 2 wire. I'm currently connected to my old 2wire modem via my AE2500 wireless usb adapter as that's the only way I can use the internet. Here's my info:

I just installed a new router E3200.... now to install compatible USB adapter (AE2500)..... problems. The error is that the Cisco Connect software cannot find the USB adapter when I plug the AE2500 into any of the USB ports. The target machine is a lenovo T61 with XP installed.I have successfully installed the AE2500 on an older machine lenovo R52 with XP , no problems, so not the adapter.
I downloaded more recent version of Cisco Connect v 1.0.03, still no luck on T61.I also disabled firewall and virus protection, that did not work. Other possibilities I can try? I got the AE2500 for the T61, would like to get there.

I have a Cisco Linksys AE2500 wireless adapter and a Cisco Linksys e2500 wireless router.
For the most part I seem to be able to connect to the internet with no problem. But whenever I stream video to my PS3, my phone, Kindle or when I start using a lot of bandwidth my internet drops and I get the "limited access" message with the yellow <!> symbol. It still shows full bars and excellent connection, yet cant get onto the internet? This happened with my PC at my old house, I forget was I did to fix it though? If it matters though I can connect fine to the internet from my Laptop and my other devices.

I've had the AE2500 adapter for a few weeks now, and it's worked fine up to this point. When I started up my computer today, however, it wouldn't connect to the network. I've uninstalled the software that came with the adapter and I've tried to reinstall it. However, when I got to the installation step to insert the adapter, the computer would not identify the AE2500. I've tried updating the drivers through the device manager, but I received an error stating that "a device attached to the system is not functioning".

I have 3 computers all running Windows 7 64bit. I had to move my desktop computer to a different room with no ethernet connection so I purchased a Linksys AE2500 usb wireless adapter for it. My router/modem is a Actiontec 2000 which came with my internet. When I have my desktop on and connected to the internet it slows down all the computers on the network and it is really slow. My question is do I have something installed wrong? I used the driver for teh adapter from this site and nothing else has changed.

I recently moved to a building that does not have wired Internet access. Upon the recommendation I purchased a Linksys AEE 2500 USB wireless adapter. I am unable to install the software which means, of course, I am unable to access any of the settings. The setup initializes, shows me the wireless network available (it has a locked padlock symbol next to a), and prompts me for the encryption key. It accepts the key and it's at this point the setup stalls. It shows the "attempting to connect to network" screen then, after whatever interval the software is set for before it times out, I get a notification that setup was unable to access the network. The generic Windows drivers access the network just fine although I only get two bars and a fair connection.I do have Internet connection through the windows drivers but it is slow and watching streaming video from Netflix is next to impossible.Long story short

I can connect via to E4200 with old laptop via G. Great signal and speed (54mps).No such luck on same machine with AE2500(G adapter disabled). Can't find any but one network(neighbors).CD software can't find adapter.I install the adpter manually using normal xp device discovery steps.Seems like there is quite a few AE2500 issues. Should I ask for RMA return? No point in wasting more time in trying to fix Cisco's tech issue.

I just purchased an AE2500 today for my desktop computer because my router is in another room. I am running Windows 7 64 bit. I tried installing the software from the disk first and it would not detect the adapter. But Windows did detect the device and I was able to manually install the drivers and in the control panel it says the device is working properly. When I go to the network sharing center no network is detected I then go to the netwokr adapters and the device is disabled. I try enabling the device and it will not. So then I go and boot in to Windows 8 RC and the device is detected and works fine and everything seems fine. I downloaded the driver from the website tried uninstalling the driver and reinstalling it with the downloaded version and still a no go.

I have a NETGEAR XAVB101 Powerline AV Ethernet Adapter and an AMD Llano build HTPC which refuses to work with each other. The power plug works well with my Gateway NV79 laptop and even my Intel Core i5 -2500K desktop, without any problems! I have also used it to connect to my Roku, Yamaha Network Receiver and other networked stuff and all worked great, just the HTPC seems to have issues connecting to the network! The HTPC is AMD A6-3650 on a ECS FM1 A75 Mobo with Integrated Realtek RTL8111E Gigabit Ethernet Controller, which is what I am connecting the power plug to! Only the connection over the power line adapter does not work, it works great with both a connection directly from the router and with wireless!
The adapter has a 128 bit encryption push button security feature which I'm NOT using. When I connect it the HTPC tries to connect and fails and shows the network as connected to an unidentified network. My LAN drivers on the computer is all up-to-date.

I'm using is the Netgear WNDA3100v2.What happens is when I attempt to connect to the internet I have to reset the adapter multiple times before it even recognizes my internet. And then once that happens it takes a few more tries to actually connect. And when I'm connected the speed is fairly decent (around 15-30 Mbps). Problem is, every 5 minutes maybe even less, I disconnect. Then I have to go back through the process of restarting the adapter and whatnot until I reconnect. I've been dealing with this problem for a few months now and have neglected to post about it anywhere because I didn't think it to be this unique.
I have tried just about every other "solution" I could find on the problem and none have worked. Also, if this says anything, I have a laptop setup literally 1 foot or less from my desktop and it connects perfectly well and good using the same adapter. Also I recently purchased another adapter (Linksys AE3000). I figured this might solve my ailment but of course, the same thing happens as the Netgear, except possibly worse. And that adapter works fine on the laptop as well. I also just yesterday completely reformatted my computer hoping it would work, but of course didn't. [code]

I cannot connect to the internet wirelessly on my Toshiba A205 laptop. I've run the diagnostics and it seems the adapter is not working. When I look at the system I can only see the Marvell Yukon PCI-E ehternet controller. That is not the wireless, is it? I think I could change it but I'm not sure which to get and where it is.

I'm finally upgrading my internet from my currently pathetic 1.5 mbps to a robust 20 mbps cable connection. It's getting installed over the weekend and my question is, should I try to place the modem close enough to my pc for a direct ethernet connection, or will wireless be fast enough to take advantage of the full 20 mbps? I have a linksys wireless-g wrt54g router. It says it's 54mbps so it should be far beyond my cable speed. My adapter on my pc is a Netgear WNDA3100-100NAR dual band usb 2.0 wireless N adapter that claims up to 300 mbps. So it seems like I should be able to achieve the same speeds wireless or wired, but really don't know much about networking other than basic router setup so wanted to double check. It will be a bit of hassle to try to route the modem into my computer room as I don't have any lines run there currently. If I place it by the tv and go wireless it's a lot easier setup.

I reformatted my father's laptop, upgrading the OS from Vista to Windows 7 but now the wireless network adapter isn't working. Basically, the laptop doesn't know that it has wireless. In device manager there is an exclamation mark against the "Atheros AR5007UG Wireless Network Adapter" entry. I've tried uninstalling the driver and reinstalling it, restarting the computer, updating the driver etc but it always fails to install the driver correctly. I don't know for sure the model of the network adapter, (windows tells me it's atheros but I'm not convinced seeing as the driver always fails to install) so I can't go to the manufacturer's website to download the latest drivers. I opened up the laptop but couldn't see any brand names on the network card. I don't have the cd's with the drivers on them.

I have an Asus M50Vm laptop
Specs are as follows:
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
2.26 P8400 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
4 GB DDR2 400 MHz RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GS Graphics
And of course, the Atheros AR928X Wireless Network Adaptor. It seems that no matter what I do wireless capability cannot be enabled. I tried turning the wireless capability button on and off but to no avail. Then I pressed FN+F2 and it didn't fix it. In both those situations a box which displays the status of the wireless LAN connection comes up, however, it reads "OFF" regardless of me performing the above two "fixes." According to my computer the card is enabled and I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the device driver but nothing changed.

I've been having problems with connecting wirelessly with my laptop (Inspiron 1525). Suddenly it's only able to connect to the local network, but I have no internet access. When I've tried to diagnose the problem, it's given me the option to reset the network adapter, but that hasn't solved the problem. The person who started this thread seems to have similar issues - [URL], however, unlike him my drivers aren't missing. I tried downloading the Dell driver which applies to my WLAN card and reinstalling it anyway, but that didn't work. When I go to device manager, the device status claims that the device is working properly. I also did a system restore but the situation remains unchanged...I still can't connect to my wireless!
My computer is running Vista and prior to this happening I hadn't reinstalled or tried to change any settings, it just seems to have happened spontaneously.

having a problem with my Linksys wireless adapter: the light will flash a few times when I plug it in, then it will turn off. It won't let me connect to the internet or my printer. It's not the port: it is recognized when I put it in any other port, but it still won't connect. I think it's a virus, but my antivirus software isn't showing anything when I run a full scan (I use Malwarebytes Free). I'm gonna put AVG on a flash drive from another computer and try to use that later today, but right now I've been thinking that I might have to back everything up and reinstall windows.
-Windows Vista- Home Premium
-Linksys Wireless USB Network Adapter (I think it's WUSB600N, not sure though)
-Malwarebytes Free Anti-virus
-Netgear Router (I think it's WGR614L)

The other day I went to a friends house, came back home, booted up my PC, and my wireless network adapter wasn't working. I've tried everything to fix it.It's a D-Link DWA-525 802.11n Wireless PCI netowrk adapter. On device manager it just says 802.11 Wireless LAN Card with a yellow exclamation next to it. And when I check what the error is, it's either error 31 or 52 at different times, depending what I've tried to do to fix it.I tried downloading the driver for it off the D-Link website, nothing happens at all when I install it. I tried taking it out of my computer and plugging it in. I tried enabling it and disabling it on device manager.I noticed one thing, when it's in my computer the green light at the back that says activity next to it isn't on.

Just got a new router. All of my devices connect fine to it except for the desktop that is using an external Linksys wireless adapter (WUSB54AG).The desktop is running Windows XP (Home Edition) SP3.The latest driver for the adapter has been installed (3.0.18.0).I am able to connect if security on the router is turned OFF.The router has 3 security options:
1) WPA-PSK (TKIP)
2) WPA2-PSK (AES)
3) WPA-PSk (TKIP) + WPA2-PSK (AES)
My understanding (from Linksys tech support) is that the device SHOULD be able to connect using WPA-PSK (TKIP). My Linksys Monitor indicates that the device is connected to the access point but not the internet (when I used WPA-PSK (TKIP). The IP address that is assigned is 169.254.3.129 and not the expected 192.168.1.x.When I turn security OFF on the router, the device can connect and I am assigned a "good" IP address (192.168.1.x).

My laptop won't connect to the internet at all and status shows limited access to router. It was fine a few days ago until a Windows update. I did a system restore on it back to before the windows update and the internet was working just fine but then there was an automatic windows update again and the connection is gone again. When I try to troubleshoot it says the network adapter is not working properly. I'm currently using the main computer in the house. I can't access any network at all on my laptop and I'm nearly in tears. This has happened before about 7 months ago after a windows update. At that time I did a system restore and reinstalled the updates and it worked just fine. This time nothing. I have tried to check for updated drivers for the network adapters but windows says I'm running the recent ones.

I've recently bought an AE2500 wireless adapter, and I've had problems setting it up, I've checked my port drivers versions and they're all up to date, I have looked over countless websites figuring out why it is doing this, my computer is a Windows Vista, and my last resort is formatting the computer, I've been here for countless hours trying to get this to work, when I run the disk with the adapter, it gets stuck at "Detecting Adapter" and ends up coming up with "Cannot find wireless adapter" or something really close to that. I've tried switching it to all of my USB ports, and nothing is working!
