Asus X5dc - Internet Connection Not Picking Up
Sep 1, 2012
My daughter has an asus x5dc laptop with windows 7 which was working fine but then stopped picking up our broadband connection. I have tried restarting laptop and making the connection but get message saying No connections available. I have another laptop using the same NETGEAR DG834GT wireless router perfectly well.

I have an ASUS Z77 Motherboard and when I install the AI Suite II which comes on the installation disc it blocks my internet connection. When I uninstall the software my connection is fine. I am using an Ethernet connection by the way. I think it is being blocked by the component called Network iControl. As soon as that component is uninstalled my Internet connection comes back. I want to have the software, but I also want to have my connection.

Running an asus WL-520gu router with flashed with DD-WRT. Just got a new DSL modem and now I can connect to the router, but have no internet connection. I've tried turning everything off, deleting network profiles and here is my ipconfig info below. Also i've pinged yahoo and it says "'DNS request time out was 2 seconds". I've tried resetting the router many times, but still nothing.[CODE]

My internet service provider is Optimum Online which is cable. I'm using the Motorola SBV5120 Modem that Optimum supplied, with the Asus RT-N66R Router. I had been using the Netgear WNR2000 until today, and I was fed up with the disconnecting issues.
Although I got the new router, the disconnecting issue is still there. I have a PS3 and a PC connected via Ethernet, and 2 MacBooks, 2 iPads and 4 smartphones connected via wireless, when all of the family members are home. I get disconnected from both wireless and wired when I do have this problem.
Is the number of devices attached to the router a problem? My internet doesn't just slow down, the connection gets lost.

I'm running an Asus G74sx, and it keeps losing connection to the internet (e.g. Youtube videos stop loading, disconnecting from online games constantly, my voice fizzing and breaking on VOIP programs like TeamSpeak 3 or Skype, etc). While the laptop clearly loses connection to the internet, it doesn't loses connections to the router (The signal strength remains excellent) and I've also tried using the cable, which doesn't fix the problem. The other computers using the same router work fine, though. These problems started about a week ago and I can't perform a system restore as the restore point available is from 05/26 (Yesterday). While I'm not an expert in the area, I've looked on several forums to see if there was a possible solution and done the following to try and solve the problem (none of which worked):
1- Restarting computer
2- Restarting router and modem
3- Opening the cmd and typing "ipconfig /release" and "ipconfig /renew"
4- Using a cable connection instead of wireless
5- Updating my wireless driver (Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless-N 6150)
6- Unchecking the "Allow computer to turn off this device to save power" on the driver configurations

my laptop when I'm on any web browser (Chrome, IE, Firefox, etc.) it will say I'm not connected to the internet and stay that way for a minute. Any downloads and stuff I have going still download though and it shos that I am still connected to the internet with excellent strength. This happens with both wireless and Ethernet connection. The only way I can fix it is by disconnecting form the internet and connecting again, even that though only works for like 20 seconds and then it says I'm disconnected again and I have to disconnect and reconnect again.
I don't think its internet connection point either because all my friends and school laptops and desktops have no problems connecting and don't disconnect.
My laptop is an ASUS Notebook G72GX

For other three years, me and my brother have both been connected to our router via ethernet cables. On this Tuesday just gone, however, my brother took it upon himself to mess with the router whilst I was out. Apparently, his internet had been down since we'd had a power-cut on the Sunday, (My internet was fine, and always has been and was fully functional after said power-cut), and before then, it'd been going really slow, and sometimes cutting out. Okay, no problem. Now, the the thing is, that morning, I was on my internet, all happy, and when I returned home that evening, my PC wouldn't connect. My PC still refuses to connect, three days on. It's not even picking up that there's something plugged in.the router is actually flashing to say that my PC is plugged in and connected to the router. I know that there is nothing wrong with the modem or what have you, as I linked my laptop up to my PC via a cable earlier today to try and get it online. It's not a virus program problem, either. Like I said, it was working Tuesday morning, nine hours later, I come home, my brother restarted/unplugged the router, and now my PC won't connect. I should also note that he's now had to go wireless via a dongle, and everyone else in the house uses wireless laptops. I can't connect my PC to the internet with a dongle

For some reason the laptop my friend brought over is not connecting to the internet and has had a problem connecting to the internet for awhile apparently. At first i thought it was just because his mom accidently hit the hotkey to turn off the wifi so i turned it back on and it still will not connect to the internet. The Mac and the PC i am using to write in this forum work just fine as well as the xbox.

I have a Linksys wrt54g wireless router.I have my modem connected to it through ethernet. All of the lights on my modem are on, except for the standby light which isn't supposed to be on. My router says it has internet and it says wlan is active. But still no internet. I get local only. I went on my setup page for my router. I went to status and its telling me that my ip address, subnet mask, and default gateway are all 0.0.0.0 All 3 dns spots are blank. I did a dhcp release and renew. Still all 0's. I did factory defaults. Still nothing. I did ipconfig /all on my desktop and its listing my dns, my default gateway, my dhcp server, my ipv4 address and my dns suffix.

Readers Digest Version: Worked fine yesterday nothing has change in my connection settings, router settings or server settings. (Computer is located at work in an AD setup, I am first level IT Support here) Router shows as it is getting a connection from the network card which is a Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller with latest drivers right from realtek (and asus version tried too). But is not connecting at 10/100 or 1000. (Have two connection sources to test to).
What I have tried:
- Tried it on a 10/100 router and a gigabyte switch
- Multiple cat5's
- Performing a clean uninstall of the driver and reinstall both from the Asus and Realtek websites of both drivers.
- Disabling the lan rebooting, enabling he lan and trying to connect.
- Disabling power save multiple times.
- Checking bios for any lan options (which there was surprisingly very little options)
- Latest bios firmware
- Tried changing the duplex to 10/100 for the hell of it!
May try:- Reinstalling windows. I had this problem a couple weeks ago, I went into the bios and enabled PXE boot when into windows and it was suddenly working as usual again. Went back to bios disabled PXE and it was still working fine. I did it again today to no avail....

I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium, and using a ASUS USB-N13 Adapter to connect to my ASUS RT-N16 Router. I am able to connect to the network with no problems, however every 10-15 minutes I will be disconnected. I am almost positive the issue is with this computer or the adapter, because I have no wireless connectivity problems with my xbox. After being disconnected, there are 2 ways that I get the connection back. I either:1. Right click the windows wireless network icon (bottom right) and click troubleshoot problems. This seems to turn the adapter on and off during the automated troubleshooting and is then usually able to connect.2. In the ASUS software, I click "IP Renew" and this can sometimes fix the problem.Sometimes I am able to stay connected for hours, while other times it disconnects every few minutes. I have no idea what the problem is, and I know my way around computers pretty well but I am not well versed in networking.

I'm trying to connect our ASUS VIJ series laptop to a dlink DIR-615 wireless router. The router connection page asks us to: "Please enter the PIN from your wireless device and click the below "Connect" button". How to find the PIN number for the laptop? The laptop uses a wireless g connection. The laptop can find the dlink router's signal on the wireless profiles & has been connected wirelessly in the past to a router (a plug & play type) without a problem.

I am getting a slow connection on the router ever since I got it. I get speeds of 5 to 3Mbps when I should be geting 19-20Mbps. I have searched everywhere but still no answer I am running the build 16994. I have done a hard reset, reboot the router and disabled the firewall, even change builds but still the same issue. I know is not the router cause it's Brand New.

I recently built a new PC with an "ASUS PCE-N10" PCIE network adapter. I installed the drivers and everything was secure and nice and fast.
I moved the PC into another room this morning and everything was fine for most of the day. It's stopped working properly though now for some reason.
The connection is much slower and the speed keeps yo yoing and then cutting out. The signal is slightly lower due to positioning but it's still high enough. When it disconnects I use Windows troubleshooter to fix the problem and it says "Wireless Network Connection" doesn't have a valid IP configuration". It usually reconnects me then, but is still slower than it should be and it doesn't last for long.
I've tried connecting to a chosen IP but it just doesn't work. Other computers on the network are fine. Why now? What's happened?

I changed my ISP (I don't know if that has anything to do with it).I have my network setup so I have a seperate modem (tp-link td-8616), which is connected to my router (asus wl-520gu) and do most of my computing from my computer (running Windows 7 64 Bit Home Premium, wired network). I had installed tomato firmware onto my router, which was working fine with my first ISP. I changed companies about a week ago, and noticed my connection kept being dropped. At first, I thought it was an issue with my ISP, so I called them up, and didn't find a solution. Afterwards, I started doing some trouble shooting on my own, and noticed my modem was still connected (via the WAN LED, at least), even though my router disagreed.
So, I tried connecting directly to my modem and my connection would be fine without any issue at all, so I thought I'd trouble shoot the router. I switched back to the factory asus firmware, connected it back to my modem, and after a while, it disconnected my LAN connection again. My router comes with this somewhat annoying interface that tells me the issue is "You have set the wrong dynamic or static IP address for your wl-520gu." So, I investigate that, and here is the setup:My modem is statically 192.168.1.1 when I directly connect to it, so I left that setting alone.
My router is also 192.168.1.1, but this was how tomato worked, so I'm not sure that this is the conflict, so I tried setting it to 192.168.1.2, which does not seem to fix the problem. My DHCP settings are set so connecting computers are 192.168.1.100-254, which should avoid the conflicts. After about 5 seconds of connectivity with that setup (modem=192.168.1.1, router=192.168.1.2), windows reports that I don't have a connection. After using Windows' trouble shooter, it says "Troubleshooting couldn't identifiy the problem"Even with the connection problems, I'm still able to access the router web setup interface.

I recently moved into a larger 2 story house, and for the first few months I was using a Linksys E1000 I've had for about 2 years now. It's a fine single band router, but the people upstairs and the xbox/PS3 in the living room didnt have the strongest connection.
I shopped around and finally got a ASUS RT-N66U for a really good, strong dual band router that would supposedly give better range and performance than my old E1000.
Unfortunately, since I got it everyone is having issues they never had before, namely:Signal dropping all around the house and having to search for the network much slower performance than before the xbox/PS3 cant hold a stable connection even for a few minutes now, when before you could watch Netflix HD programs easily
I've upgraded the Firmware to 3.0.0.3.178 since I heard earlier firmwares had issues, but other than that and opening my ports for qTorrent it is relatively stock settings.

I have an ASUS X58C laptop which has been working OK to the internet via the ethernet cable but it has stopped working.I used the laptop via the wireless connection to access the internet while away from home and on my return I can not connect via the ethernet but I can connect OK via wireless. The results with the wireless enabled are :
C:>ipconfig
Windows IP Configuration
Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection* 13:
Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
[code]....
I can see that the ethernet adapter(s) are shown as media disconnected but I don't understand how to make them connected. I also don't understand why there are two ethernet adapters or what the Tunnel Adapters are. Before I did the ipconfig command I went into Control Panel/Device Manager/Network Adapters/SiS Ethernet Controller, right clicked and selected the Update Driver Software which searched the internet for a driver and installed it.

I have a PC with a Realtek onboard Ethernet controller, running Windows XP. It's connected to an Asus RT-n16 router loaded with TomatoUSB, via a Cat5e cable. When I set it up a month or two ago, I confirmed that I was getting a Gigabit connection to it--the little network connection icon in the Windows XP taskbar indicated "1.0 Gbps." All well and good. I just happened to check it today, and it now says "100Mbps." Nothing, as far as I know, has changed to the configuration. I went into the Device Manager, and saw that under the driver settings, in "Speed", it was set to "Auto-Negotiate." When I tried setting that to "1.0 Gbps" instead, the network connection icon in XP's taskbar once again indicated "1.0Gbps." As an experiment, I then changed it back to Auto-Negotiate, and once again the taskbar icon read "100Mbps."So I guess I have two questions. 1) Should I leave the driver setting on 1Gbps rather than Auto-Negotiate? (2) Why might the speed have switched from 1Gbps to 100Mbps over the past month if nothing's changed?

Installed Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobile Client on a new Asus CM6870, downgraded to Windows 7 Pro. It worked fine for 3 days, establishing VPN connections with my workplace without a probllem. Then it repeatedly failed to connect.
I attempted an uninstall/re-install, and the install now fails as well, returning the following error: The VPN client agent was unable to create the interprocess communication depot. When I do manage to get it re-installled, it works sometimes, then fails to establish connections other times. I am not an IT professional, so trying to diagnose the issue by reviewing the Windows/Inf/setupapi.app.log and .dev files is a no go. I do not hold a contract with Cisco so I am not authorized to open a support ticket, or receive phone support (again, I tired).

Recently I bought a ASUS G Series G53SW-XN1 to replace my old laptop and it uses a Atheros AR9002WB-1NG wireless network adapter to connect to my network. On my older laptop I can get the full download speeds on my network of 500-600 kbs, but on my asus I can only acheive between 70-120 kbs. There should be little to no interference between me and my router and it sits only about 15 ft behind me.
My router is an old linksys wireless router which only transmits a B signal. I know wireless B is considered slow but it works perfectly fine for what I use it for and it works on my other laptop.

Bought a new ASUS RT-N65R the other day, tried following all the steps to hook it up and get my home network going but to no avail. None of the PCs on the network were able to connect to the internet. Tried switching back to my old router, a NETGEAR N300, and it no longer connects. Was working fine until I tried swapping to the new router. When connected to the ASUS router, ipconfig shows my IP address as 169x instead of the 192.168.x.x like it should be. PC connects to the internet just fine when plugged directly into the cable modem, a Cisco DPC3010.
