I have an ASUS Z77 Motherboard and when I install the AI Suite II which comes on the installation disc it blocks my internet connection. When I uninstall the software my connection is fine. I am using an Ethernet connection by the way. I think it is being blocked by the component called Network iControl. As soon as that component is uninstalled my Internet connection comes back. I want to have the software, but I also want to have my connection.

I got this netbook from someone who claims that he is an apple guy and knows nothing about PCs, bought it for his daughter and never had any connection issues whatsoever. My older netbook and my laptop recognize my wireless connection but this one claims it can't renew the IP address and it's all zeroes.I am currently connected through an ethernet cable. My network adapters, an 802.11n wireless LAN card and an Atheros AR8121/AR8113/AR8114 PCI-E ethernet controller have no warning triangles or red x's, although the DOS commands tell me I have disconnected media. I went to the ASUS website and downloaded some updates but am afraid to install anything without being 100% certain because the C drive, as on most older eeepcs, is nearly full and I load everything onto D. I've removed the old profile, unplugged and restarted the router. I've reset, rebooted and pinged. After my reboot, I saw a new error message box. The title bar read "RaUI Message" and the text read "Unable to support WiFi Direct feature".
So - cmd prompt results:
Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]

I recently moved into a larger 2 story house, and for the first few months I was using a Linksys E1000 I've had for about 2 years now. It's a fine single band router, but the people upstairs and the xbox/PS3 in the living room didnt have the strongest connection.
I shopped around and finally got a ASUS RT-N66U for a really good, strong dual band router that would supposedly give better range and performance than my old E1000.
Unfortunately, since I got it everyone is having issues they never had before, namely:Signal dropping all around the house and having to search for the network much slower performance than before the xbox/PS3 cant hold a stable connection even for a few minutes now, when before you could watch Netflix HD programs easily
I've upgraded the Firmware to 3.0.0.3.178 since I heard earlier firmwares had issues, but other than that and opening my ports for qTorrent it is relatively stock settings.

Bought a new ASUS RT-N65R the other day, tried following all the steps to hook it up and get my home network going but to no avail. None of the PCs on the network were able to connect to the internet. Tried switching back to my old router, a NETGEAR N300, and it no longer connects. Was working fine until I tried swapping to the new router. When connected to the ASUS router, ipconfig shows my IP address as 169x instead of the 192.168.x.x like it should be. PC connects to the internet just fine when plugged directly into the cable modem, a Cisco DPC3010.

I just a new motherboard yesterday an ASUS P7P55D. Running windows 7 and using ethernet, the internet would cut out after a few minutes and come back again by itself and cut off again. After turning on xbox live i realised that my computer is causing problems for the router and cutting off the connections.

I am having an issue with my motherboard/ internet connection. when I am torrenting over a WIRED connection, my internet will randomly disconnect from the internet. my network will have the yellow triangle with the ! in the middle.
1. removed router from equation and still disconnects
2. tried different cable and still disconnects
3. tried reloading the OS from 64bit to 32 bit and still disconnects
4. downloaded latest drivers from realtek and still disconnects
5. tried wireless and it works fine
now i have onboard wirelessN as well as gigabit internet (everything is brand new). wireless works fine but that may be because it is not reaching the same speed/connections as my wired connection. im thinking its my onboard nic but it works fine unless I am doing heavy torrenting. i wouldnt mind wireless but this is an always on HTPC/server

I have purchased, the Asus RT-n66u twice, the Linksys ea4500, and the ea3500. With all 3 of these routers I am able to set them up just fine the internet works fine, and then come the connection drops. It doesnt matter if I'm wired or wireless, the internet connection will not be stable for more than 5-10 mins a time. I called ASUS tech support and thier stumped too. Firmware is not a factor as Ive updated them for all 3 routers. I'm using a ping monitor to see how much it drops. In the last 40 mins it dropped 12 times with a wired connection and typically takes 45-90 secs to come back up.
The interesting thing is that my current router a Linksys E2000 is working just fine and is routing 12 wireless devices with no loss of connectivity. I wanted to upgrade to a router with a longer range, but out of the 3 I tried so far none work. So I'm ruling out that its an issue with my ISP or the Arris modem that came with comcast becuase thats been up for weeks.

My internet service provider is Optimum Online which is cable. I'm using the Motorola SBV5120 Modem that Optimum supplied, with the Asus RT-N66R Router. I had been using the Netgear WNR2000 until today, and I was fed up with the disconnecting issues.
Although I got the new router, the disconnecting issue is still there. I have a PS3 and a PC connected via Ethernet, and 2 MacBooks, 2 iPads and 4 smartphones connected via wireless, when all of the family members are home. I get disconnected from both wireless and wired when I do have this problem.
Is the number of devices attached to the router a problem? My internet doesn't just slow down, the connection gets lost.

I'm running an Asus G74sx, and it keeps losing connection to the internet (e.g. Youtube videos stop loading, disconnecting from online games constantly, my voice fizzing and breaking on VOIP programs like TeamSpeak 3 or Skype, etc). While the laptop clearly loses connection to the internet, it doesn't loses connections to the router (The signal strength remains excellent) and I've also tried using the cable, which doesn't fix the problem. The other computers using the same router work fine, though. These problems started about a week ago and I can't perform a system restore as the restore point available is from 05/26 (Yesterday). While I'm not an expert in the area, I've looked on several forums to see if there was a possible solution and done the following to try and solve the problem (none of which worked):
1- Restarting computer
2- Restarting router and modem
3- Opening the cmd and typing "ipconfig /release" and "ipconfig /renew"
4- Using a cable connection instead of wireless
5- Updating my wireless driver (Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless-N 6150)
6- Unchecking the "Allow computer to turn off this device to save power" on the driver configurations

About two weeks ago, I took out the old motherboard of my HP computer and put in a new ASUS M4A88T-M. The board is amazing, especially for the money, except that I can't connect to the internet. So, for the last two weeks I've power-cycled about a billion times, ipconfig /this/that/and the next thing over and over, I've winsocked, I've turned programs on and off and on again, checked that the LAN is enabled in BIOS, firewall is off, and probably a bunch other things from the 100's of google pages I've searched.I spent 45 minutes on the phone with my ISP, and the guy was 99% sure there is something wrong with the NIC. Windows says that the device is working correctly, and I think that it is. There must be some setting, some driver, something that will reconnect me to the internet.

I have an asus wireless router the router lost connection for a few days and when Internet came back there was no password to protect Internet and was just basically open access. The computer which all the Internet setting are on went away for repair. When the man brought it back after backing up the computer I asked him to put the password back on the Internet. This he has done. We entered the new passwords on our iPhones and they connected and worked no problem. Then we tried to do it with our laptops but they won't connect. Phoned the bloke back he said we had to get the laptops to forget all the old settings for the router and it would on take five minutes but he never told us how to do it.

Everything was working fine and I was poking around in the router settings and clicked the Clone Mac Address button to see what it did and hit Apply.
Now the internet isn't working (on the neighbor's internet) and I can't even get back on the router (192.168.1.1) I reset the router but it still isn't working.
I have an ASUS Wireless Router RT-N66R.
Edit: I got back on the router but now my wireless MAC address is the same as the LAN MAC address. I think this is what the cloning did. Is there any way to find my old MAC address?
The section is titled Special Requirement from ISP so I think I may need to use a certain MAC address but I don't remember what the old one was.

I had to move to a remote area in which I can only use a 3G mobile internet connection. The 3G connection is working fine, that is until I plug in my Asus RT-N12 router in order to create a wireless home network between our computers (for file and printer sharing).
For me it seems like firefox is trying to connect to internet trough the router. But that is not possible, since the router has no internet. The only internet is from the 3G mobile internet stick.
How can I tell firefox, that it should look for internet in the 3G connection instead of the router?

my laptop when I'm on any web browser (Chrome, IE, Firefox, etc.) it will say I'm not connected to the internet and stay that way for a minute. Any downloads and stuff I have going still download though and it shos that I am still connected to the internet with excellent strength. This happens with both wireless and Ethernet connection. The only way I can fix it is by disconnecting form the internet and connecting again, even that though only works for like 20 seconds and then it says I'm disconnected again and I have to disconnect and reconnect again.
I don't think its internet connection point either because all my friends and school laptops and desktops have no problems connecting and don't disconnect.
My laptop is an ASUS Notebook G72GX

I have an ASUS RTN66U running Tomato firmware.I have temporary (a month or so) Internet access via a Huawei E3131 3G USB dongle. I am posting this question using said Internet access.
I would like other machines on my network to be able to access the Internet in the usual fashion. That is, through my ASUS router. My initial thought was to plug the dongle into the router and configure it to connect. However, it seems tomato does not support my dongle because I get a message to that effect in the log.
So my next thought was to "point" my router at my Windows machine which has the dongle plugged into it. Thus, any machine connecting to the router would then route through my Windows machine to the Internet.

I currently have a D-Link DIR-615 as my home router, but I've been underwhelmed with its range. Before I go switching stuff around. My D-Link is flashed with dd-wrt, and my RT-10+ would be as well.
My goal would be to increase the range if I could, but not at the cost of dependability. I almost never have to reset the D-Link, but I really don't have any experience with ASUS so I'm not sure where they fall in terms of quality.

My issue is if I try and plus my Thecus N4100 pro into the router, it doesn't see it at all. The only way I can get my N4100 pro to work is to plug it directly into the gateway with my desktop pc and in that case the gateway wireless has been turned off only my desktop pc see's the nas...
It's definitely not ideal, and I am not sure what to do. I wanted to be able to use this router to do the bulk of the pc related things and only have the gateway handle uverse tv (WAP)...
