D-Link DIR-615 Vs ASUS RT-N10+?
Feb 17, 2013
I currently have a D-Link DIR-615 as my home router, but I've been underwhelmed with its range. Before I go switching stuff around. My D-Link is flashed with dd-wrt, and my RT-10+ would be as well.
My goal would be to increase the range if I could, but not at the cost of dependability. I almost never have to reset the D-Link, but I really don't have any experience with ASUS so I'm not sure where they fall in terms of quality.

I have an ASUS Z77 Motherboard and when I install the AI Suite II which comes on the installation disc it blocks my internet connection. When I uninstall the software my connection is fine. I am using an Ethernet connection by the way. I think it is being blocked by the component called Network iControl. As soon as that component is uninstalled my Internet connection comes back. I want to have the software, but I also want to have my connection.

I recently moved into a larger 2 story house, and for the first few months I was using a Linksys E1000 I've had for about 2 years now. It's a fine single band router, but the people upstairs and the xbox/PS3 in the living room didnt have the strongest connection.
I shopped around and finally got a ASUS RT-N66U for a really good, strong dual band router that would supposedly give better range and performance than my old E1000.
Unfortunately, since I got it everyone is having issues they never had before, namely:Signal dropping all around the house and having to search for the network much slower performance than before the xbox/PS3 cant hold a stable connection even for a few minutes now, when before you could watch Netflix HD programs easily
I've upgraded the Firmware to 3.0.0.3.178 since I heard earlier firmwares had issues, but other than that and opening my ports for qTorrent it is relatively stock settings.

I use to have a DIR-655 and dap-1522 both worked without any issues. I recently upgraded to Asus RT-n56u and now I want to setup the dap-1522 with it.I have no issues with the Asus RT-n56u everything seems to work fine here the problem seems to be with the dap-1522 where it connects but then disconnects almost instantly.
1) Connect dap-1522 with my desktop computer via Ethernet
2) Change the LAN settings for tcp/ip v4 to manual IP
3) I set the manual IP to 192.168.0.60/ subnet mask 255.255.255.0 and the default gateway to 192.168.0.50
4) I open my web browser and connect to 192.168.0.50 and I see the dlink page and I log in fine.
5)I tried going through the wizard, picked manual and have tried both the 2.4ghz and 5.0ghz bands they are set up as WPA-Auto Personal and I enter in my password. It says settings will be saved
6) The page refreshes to the wireless one but I don't see any options here just the save config one. When I go to status sometimes it says its connected but sometimes it just says it's not I try to unplug from my desktop and take it over to where my apple tv is but it never works..One thing I should note is my asus is connected to 192.168.1.X so do I need to change the dap-1522 to 192.168.1.50? instead of 0.50?

My TP-Link 8817 which is connected to my ASUS RT-N66u appears to be blocking my ports. I port forwarded on my router to set up a server. I do have the right IP and ports set up. Originally i thought it was the router but then "netMakeChannDial: err=-3000 rn_p=8050dc14" appeared in the modem log but nothing in the router log even though i turned on the "logged packets type" to Both. I have googled this error but nothing came up so I'm probably just doing something stupid. I have even tried turning off the modem firewall and SPI, but still no luck.

I noticed that my Asus RT-56U router feels really really hot. It's like the sidewalk on a hot day. I was wondering if it's suppose to be like that or if it's a problem i should worry about.

So my setup has been built around playing nice with my Uverse Gateway. Basically the Router is hooked into a Lan port to the gateway and I have enabled DMZ-Plus to disable the firewall on the gateway's end. Wireless on the gateway has been turned off.
My issue is if I try and plus my Thecus N4100 pro into the router, it doesn't see it at all. The only way I can get my N4100 pro to work is to plug it directly into the gateway with my desktop pc and in that case the gateway wireless has been turned off only my desktop pc see's the nas...
It's definitely not ideal, and I am not sure what to do. I wanted to be able to use this router to do the bulk of the pc related things and only have the gateway handle uverse tv (WAP)...

I recently bought the above product, the ASUS USB N13 network adapter, and last night when i tried connecting to my wireless router, it worked, but I found that I could only get a maximum on 35% signal, where as my Acer laptop from 2005, receives upto a 100% signal. For a product thats rated at 150m range, distance should not be a problem, I have screen shot if required of the signal strength.

Readers Digest Version: Worked fine yesterday nothing has change in my connection settings, router settings or server settings. (Computer is located at work in an AD setup, I am first level IT Support here) Router shows as it is getting a connection from the network card which is a Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller with latest drivers right from realtek (and asus version tried too). But is not connecting at 10/100 or 1000. (Have two connection sources to test to).
What I have tried:
- Tried it on a 10/100 router and a gigabyte switch
- Multiple cat5's
- Performing a clean uninstall of the driver and reinstall both from the Asus and Realtek websites of both drivers.
- Disabling the lan rebooting, enabling he lan and trying to connect.
- Disabling power save multiple times.
- Checking bios for any lan options (which there was surprisingly very little options)
- Latest bios firmware
- Tried changing the duplex to 10/100 for the hell of it!
May try:- Reinstalling windows. I had this problem a couple weeks ago, I went into the bios and enabled PXE boot when into windows and it was suddenly working as usual again. Went back to bios disabled PXE and it was still working fine. I did it again today to no avail....

So I just got an Asus RT-N10+ trying to repeat my Buffalo Airstation wireless signal (WPA2/PSK). I choose the repeater step in the quick setup, and the signal has full bars, but when I try to connect, it gets stuck at:
"Please wait, RT-N10+ is connecting to buffaloairstation..." and it stays like that indefinitely and after a while, the ASUS wireless connection disappears as it continues "connecting".

I recently bought a Asus DSL N13 router and one of the points that made me purchase it was the ability to plug a printer in via USB and all users on the network could share this printer. I double checked that my printer (Cannon IP4300) was compatible and its on the list here [URL]. I've set up the router and this work fine, both my desktop (running windows 7 64 bit) and my laptop (running vista 32 bit) can access the router and connect to the internet fine, both via ethernet cable and over wireless connection.
However I've been banging my head against a wall with regards to sharing the printer. I can connect the printer to the router and in the router configuration there is a tab for the printer server and this see's my printer (Cannon IP4300). However when i try to add a new printer on either my desktop or laptop i cannot see the printer, whatever i try!

I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium, and using a ASUS USB-N13 Adapter to connect to my ASUS RT-N16 Router. I am able to connect to the network with no problems, however every 10-15 minutes I will be disconnected. I am almost positive the issue is with this computer or the adapter, because I have no wireless connectivity problems with my xbox. After being disconnected, there are 2 ways that I get the connection back. I either:1. Right click the windows wireless network icon (bottom right) and click troubleshoot problems. This seems to turn the adapter on and off during the automated troubleshooting and is then usually able to connect.2. In the ASUS software, I click "IP Renew" and this can sometimes fix the problem.Sometimes I am able to stay connected for hours, while other times it disconnects every few minutes. I have no idea what the problem is, and I know my way around computers pretty well but I am not well versed in networking.

I have a router at college. An Asus RT-N16. I have DD-WRT on it. I used to own a wrt54gl until it crapped out on me.The problem is: Everything works fine, but I cannot access my colleges website. Like the .edu address. None of it. When I directly connect to the wall I am fine, with the router I cannot go to our .edu site. It just gives a generic error saying it cannot reach the website/address.I have tried everything. Static IP that is linked to my computer and allowed on the network. DHCP. I have done MAC cloning. It used to work on the wrt54gl.

I'm often on my university WiFi, which is unsecured. I have a new ASUS router that supports a VPN network, so I've created a VPN network and it seems to be working-- I connect to the VPN through the unsecured WiFi and I can see my home computers on my network.I want to tunnel all my internet browsing through the VPN, for security, but when I'm on my VPN, I can't browse the internet. I understand that I can go into advanced settings and set it up so that I'm on the VPN while still browsing on the unsecured wireless (I think that's called split-tunneling), but that seems to defeat the purpose. I think I have to set up port forwarding, or maybe a DNS server...

i just ordered from newegg the asus rt-n16 for 65 bucks incl mir.but just see they have e4200-rm for 110 and wonder if I should pick that one instead? What I have in my apartment is a 4 bdrms unit, 4 laptops, 1 desktop, 1 htpc ( for online video streaming or internet TV), the catch is that the unit is awefully shaped so that my current buffalo g300 cannot send good wireless signals to 2 rooms, and getting our neighbor's free internet is actually a better alternative ( said linksys on the SSID lolll)so I was wondering would n16 be a good fix for my problem or should i just jump for e4200?wouldn't mind to do the dd wrt hassle since i'm comfortable with diys. and also would the fact the asus has 3 antenna gives a better signal coverage? I really hope this will be my last router purchase lolllll and if next year i'm buying a big house I hope the purchase today can be sustainable?btw, all I am doing is online gaming, browsing, P2P, online streaming, VOIP etc

3 times in the last 2 hours i have had my new rt-n56u give me the message. You have set the wrong dynamic or static IP address for your RT-N56U.
So i reset the router and it pulls the same IP and info it had before from my ISP.Doing some reading it seems some people have had this issue occur over and over.I am upgrading to the new Asus1.0.1.8i from 1.0.1.8f which is installed now, but wanted to ask if i have other options for this router as this problem gets annoying..Example i am used to DD-WRT for my linksys wrt- models..does the NT56U have something similar...

My house is wired so any demanding network transfers are done over the wired network, wireless is reserved for casual stuff. This month my internet connection is eventually going to exceed 100Mbps so I need to dump my WRT54G and while I'm sure the RT-N66U is very nice, I could save $100 buying the RT-N16.
I have a gigabit switch that works great and handles all of the local traffic, I just need the router for DHCP, NAT, basic wireless connectivity, and it needs to be able to pull in over 100Mbps from the internet. So is the RT-N16 adequate for me?

My Asus eee pc netbook won't load webpages. It is connected to the internet, but won't load pages. I know it isn't the internet connection because others are able to access it on their computers on the same network.I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling my network adapter. I've put the power save mode on my adapter to off. I uninstalled Norton. I've turned my firewall off. It won't load in Firefox or IE.If I repair my connection, it works for about 30 seconds, and then will stop loading.

I couldn't recover my password so I just created a new account.I just recently bought the ASUS RT-N16 since I switched to a different ISP that provided only a modem.
The problem: Some computers in the house will connect no problem to the network and without trouble. Other computers will be able to connect to the network but it will be restricted. When you go to the internet browser it shows an Asus logo and says: "the cable for ethernet is not plugged in". All the computers are wireless and in fact I am writing this while connected to the RT-N16 (wirelessly). Also, sometimes a computer will boot, I will go into the browser, it will show me that message, I unplug the RT-N16, plug it back in and the internet works again. This happens everyday.
P.S. I would also like to note that I tried connecting to the internet network with a nexus and it showed me the same error while I tried connecting with a samsung galaxy S2 and everything worked just fine. Also we got like 5 computers at home and I'd say 1 computer always connects fine, some don't connect regardless of whether you restart the router or not and some computers work only when you restart the router so I have very mixed feelings about this one...

I'm trying to connect our ASUS VIJ series laptop to a dlink DIR-615 wireless router. The router connection page asks us to: "Please enter the PIN from your wireless device and click the below "Connect" button". How to find the PIN number for the laptop? The laptop uses a wireless g connection. The laptop can find the dlink router's signal on the wireless profiles & has been connected wirelessly in the past to a router (a plug & play type) without a problem.

I bought the Asus N65U about 9 days ago. I had a terrible time trying to install it and using the automatic install it kept failing. I followed the directions and it kept telling me that 2 or more wired connections were detected. I only had the cable modem plugged in to the wan port and then the laptop directly to the router as the picture specified. I skipped it and did the QIS from the web interface and I got the router to work and everything is connected now. We are having a lot of issues with the connection dropping and on my desktop upstairs it is really slow (2mbs) and we currently have Time Warner 15 Mbs. My wife's laptop gets 20Mbs from speedtest .net but when watching videos and normal surfing it is slow. This is the same on my PC. Is there a setting or a way I can configure this to get this to work? I paid a decent amount of money and based off of good reviews I bought it but it is very unreliable.
I also tried to connect my work computer to it and it was good until I had to connect through a VPN to get to my work and from that point on I had to shut down the connection as it wouldn't stay online.

I have had the Asus working with a netgear CVG824G(in unison, not bridged) for some time with IP cam & usb media, but no DNS access as running through the netgear gateway. I just upgraded to Optus premium speed pack & received a netgear CG3000 & now can't find the Asus when plugged into CG3000 ethernet port. I have tried to plug it in the same as it was so I could access the asus routers page & change settings to bridge but find nothing. When I try to connect wirelessly to it, the security key is not accepted. Have tried original key and 'dmin'' all with no use. I want it to run bridged to make use of the DNS service with IP cam & attached media

I built a desktop to replace my laptop and set it aside for two weeks. So I go back to the laptop and it says the networks available but I can't connect to the router. It reminds of the first time I wired a network at work. All the wireless info seems to be right I went to my RT-nu Asus router and reset that. That seems to be OK. DCHP is OK password for the WPA seems OK. I did upgrade the firmware to the router but that worked ok. That won't have affected the laptop in anyway would it? I do have a preprogram of WIN 8 but its not telling I have to buy it yet. Whoa, how could it if I can't get on the net. Do you think that might be it? Everything on the laptop works well otherwise and it's not informing to but Win 8.
