For some reason the laptop my friend brought over is not connecting to the internet and has had a problem connecting to the internet for awhile apparently. At first i thought it was just because his mom accidently hit the hotkey to turn off the wifi so i turned it back on and it still will not connect to the internet. The Mac and the PC i am using to write in this forum work just fine as well as the xbox.

I have spent 2.5 hours on the phone to Samsung and to the tech support from the store I bought it from and no one seems to be able to give me a definitive resolution! I can only assume the router is not compatible with the wifi connector in the laptop.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've just bought a new Samsung 3 series laptop (Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit). I have two braodband lines at my home (1: Sky with standard Sky wireless router. 2: BT with Netgear wireless router). The Netgear router is primarily used for business but I also use it to connect with my old Dell laptop and my iPad. However I cant seem to connect with my new Samsung laptop to the Netgear router. I want to get rid of the Sky broadband line but neet to get the Netgear line working correctly first.If i turn the Netgear router off and then on again the laptop can see the router and picks up the wireless signal and connects for a few minutes before it drops off and then it can find it again. The laptop does similar with the Sky router except that the connection seems to last longer before it drops off and at least it can always see the Sky wireless signal for me to reconnect again.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just bought a Gateway dx4860-Ub33P.I took it to geek squad and had them upgrade the video card to Nvidia geforce GTX 560 as well as upgrading the power supply.When I set up the computer at my home office, the wireless adapter is not picking up the signals. My laptop is picking up the wireless signals just fine so I know it can't be a signal strength issue.My Gateway does detect one very weak network, but not nearly as many as my laptop. I also have Norton Antivirus installed if that is at all useful.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a HP G62 laptop and it randomly disconnects from the internet even though it still has full wireless signal. However if I turn the laptop 180 degrees or lift it above my head it will reconnect .The laptop will also only work in certain rooms of the house and not others even though it receives a similar strength signal in all of these rooms. For example it will work in my bedroom which is upstairs and on the opposite side of the house to the router but will not work in the living room (unless i hold it above my head) which is right next to the router.
A second HP laptop in the house has no problems and will remain connected no matter what room it is in and how is held. The two can be right next to each other both with full signal and one will be connected to the internet and the other wont.I have tried updating the drivers on the laptop but this has made no difference. The router is an echolife HG520b. The hp laptop which has the problem has a Broadcom 4313 network adaptor where as the laptop which works fine has a Realtek network adaptor.
when I log onto the PC, I have to reset the local network adapter in order to go online - it solves the problem every time. The real issue is with the laptop. It keeps dropping connection and, even when it shows up with a full signal, it can't connect to the internet and, when it does, it's really, really slow. I've tried resetting the IP address, I've gone in to make sure the network isn't hidden, I've checked the WEP key, I've even had it right next to the pc (which works only marginally, occasionally).We can't afford to buy another new laptop and I can't work out what the problem is.

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy laptop ( A Samsung NP550P5C-S02AU running windows 7 home premium) is not connecting to the modem (which is a D-link DSL-2740B-F1) For the past few weeks I have been able to fix this by resetting the modem/restarting the laptop and I also did a full restore on the laptop as well as completely reset the modem and updated the firmware. I've also tried two different wireless security settings, WPA and WPA2 neither of which have fixed the problem (though surprisingly it did work for a few days when changing over to to WPA). For the past couple of days the laptop has not been able to connect to the internet apart from a few times where the connection lasted 2-5 minutes. We have multiple computers and portable devices in the house all of which don't seem to have any issue connecting to the internet.

I can connect fine at home.When I get to school, my laptop picks up the internet - there is internet connection/wireless. But I cannot access the internet after I open the web browser. As a school policy, as soon as the browser is open, it is directed automatically to a "Web Authentication" page. But my laptop does not allow it to connect to that page.
I asked the IT technician at school and he said that there is a problem with the DNS connecting automatically. He changed the settings to do so, but when he opens the network protocol again, the DNS is changed back to a preferred DNS number and it will not allow me to automatically pick up the DNS when I am at school. (Once again, it works fine at home).
I have a Linksys wrt54g wireless router.I have my modem connected to it through ethernet. All of the lights on my modem are on, except for the standby light which isn't supposed to be on. My router says it has internet and it says wlan is active. But still no internet. I get local only. I went on my setup page for my router. I went to status and its telling me that my ip address, subnet mask, and default gateway are all 0.0.0.0 All 3 dns spots are blank. I did a dhcp release and renew. Still all 0's. I did factory defaults. Still nothing. I did ipconfig /all on my desktop and its listing my dns, my default gateway, my dhcp server, my ipv4 address and my dns suffix.

I'm guessing there is a way of connecting to the wireless on my laptop in this room, connect the laptop to the tv via an ethernet cabe, and bridge the connections or something so that my tv gets the internet from the laptop. That's gotta be possible, no? When I try it tho, the connections bridge, but the tv says "Gateway is not connected, gateway address wrong or unavailable". Using auto IP.
Whenever i connect a particular acer laptop to the internet at work via the wireless, internet access is lost after a period that ranges from 30 minutes to 1 hour and i have to reboot the VSAT modem to restore internet connectivity. This cycle of rebooting the vsat modem to restore internet access goes on and on until the problematic laptop is powered off.Initially i thought the problem was with the modem since i always had to restart it, but i noticed that if i didnt take that laptop to work, internet access stayed up the whole day.The acer laptop is enabled for DHCP and connects to a cisco wireless acess point that is connected to a cisco 2960 series switch which is in turn connected to the VSAT modem.
