I am getting a little frustrated. I know how to access my router's configuration and under Access Restrictions I am trying to block a URL. However, after I enter the URL and save the settings, it does not block. I have enabled the policy, but still no can do.
View 1 RepliesI'm about to return my E3000 because I can't figure this problem out. As you know a new Apple TV was released and along with it you now have the capability to send music and photos from iTunes on your laptop to your Apple TV which you can then play on your TV. These two components communicate through your wireless router. However this is not happening because (I believe) that the E3000 is blocking something (a port, some rouge firewall setting, etc.). I would be happy opening every frigging port this thing has and blocking all it's internal firewalls just to see if I can get these two devices working correctly. The software that allows this to all occur is called Airplay via your homeshare g network. Any success in getting your Apple TV and your iTunes and perhaps your iPhone to call communicate together or how the E3000 works.

1> I am replacing a WRT110. I had the old router set with a static IP address supplied by my ISP. I configured the E3000 with the same address and I cannot access the internet. Are there any tricks to setting this up on an E3000?
2> As configured I there is a guest network setup. BUT when I access the router I don't see the tab to be able to configure it.
I inherited a Cisco ASA 5505 and am trying to piggy back the device off of an established Network. Here is the basic layout:
192.168.10.1 (Core Router - Handles DHCP/DNS)
192.168.10.9 (ASA 5505 - Piggy backing off of Network)
192.168.40.x (ASA 5505 - VLAN)
I'm able to get onto the Internet without any problems. Devices from the 192.168.10x Network can not ping the inside VLAN1 (192.168.40.x). However, I would like traffic going from the inside VLAN to the Outside VLAN to be blocked, except for 192.168.10.1 and 192.168.10.9. I've tried using ACL's but end up killing my Internet connection. 192.168.10.1 is the default route and is how I get out to the Internet. Is this possible? Essentially, I'm trying to set up a small Network that guests can connect to. The idea is that they can get to the Internet, but that is it. They can't get to internal resources on the 192.168.10.x Network

In setup for old RV042 (V1), when updating / adding Mac addresses, the table is always sorted by IP addresses. But in the new oneRV042 (V3) I have, even with latest firmware 4.2.1.02 the list is random, thereby increasing the chance of user entering DUPLICATE IP addr with diff Mac addr. That will result in conflict.If the firmware sorts the DHCP entries by ip addresses, user would be able to catch duplicate ip errors even if the system does not flag the errors. All Cisco smart engineers can you all get the dhcp entries SORT by ip addresses.

I have about 20 devices which i'm allowing to access my router, so i keyed in the MAC addresses into the config page and save setting. But only 16 addresses are registered, the rest refused to register no matter how many times i key in, it just reset back to 00:00:00:00:00:00 after i click on save setting.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI use my WAP610N as access point (AP) in a network with a router.Firmware is up to date (1.0.0.4 build 7).After I connect my mobile phone the AP crashes after a few minutes. (The firmware of the mobile phone is also up to date.)Then it blocks the whole LAN until I disconnect the network cable from the AP. Then the rest of the network works just fine.Blocking means, that a computer connected to a lan port of the router can't ping anything nor has access to the internet anymore.I need to power off the WAP610N and after the restart it works again.
Also is there any way to debug or at least show some kind of log on the WAP610N? The web client seems to have no such features. Is there an additional URL with more commands? It seems that theres no telnet console either.
My roommate and people he invites over keep downloading torrents from public sites and I've gotten 3 emails from Comcast so far. I've talked to him, but I want to make it impossible for him to be able to download them...
I have a Linksys WRT54G router.
I've made 6 internet access policies in the Access Restrictions settings of my router, but for some reason only the 1st policty works. I had 'torrent' as a keyword on the first policy, and when I googled most popular torrent sites it wouldn't let me... so I took 'torrent' off the keyword list and did my google search, and after I wrote down the 40 most popular public torrent sites, I added torrent back as a keyword for website blocking and saved it, but now it doesn't work for some reason. So at first it worked, then I took it off so I could search using the keyword torrent, then I added it back again and saved it and now it doesn't work.
1st policy works (besides the torrent keyword). I have all my policies enabled, have set ip ranges from 0-254 for all of them, and gave them each a name.
How come only the first policy works, and how come all the keywords in the first policy work except one after I deleted it and then re-added it?
How would I connect hopes to router without getting ip addresses from linksys router , rather i want to get ip addresses from Server 2008 that can be done by DHCP server, in that case how would i disable ip addresses getting from linksys router? each time I connect new hopes to network those pcs should get ip address from Server how it can be possible.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm not entirely sure what's going on. I run 4 computers on this network, 2 Windows Xp, 1 Windows 7, and 1 Linux. All of which cannot access AIM, Gchat, and Minecraft(lol). I have no idea what would cause this, I run DD-WRT on my router(Linksys WRT-54G). I've checked all ports and I don't have anything blocked. I seriously need to fix this because I use AIM for my work. I can't even get into AIM Express which is web-based(tells me to check my network connection.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWAG320 allows website blocking, to enable this you can use a keyword. I would like to use this function to block anoying advert sites (in the same way I could with my Netgear DG834GT) - However the way this function has been implemented is less than ideal.
e.g. when a site is blocked by the router, the router does not return a response - this is great until that site forms only part of a web page that is permitted. What then happens is the web page takes forever to load as the responses have to timeout for the blocked components.
The way this function *should* have been implemented, is the router should return a blank response for each of the blocked sites. Netgear do this and it works a treat, they even put up a banner saying "Website blocked by Netgear".
This is such a simple feature, why has Cisco overlooked this and how do I go about raising a product enhancement ? I've been through the helpdesk which quite frankly is a farse, they asked me to reflash my firmware which surprisingly didn't resolve the issue - they then told me to send them the unit back because it must have a fault !?!? (and I have to pay for postage of course!) I explained the issue about 5 times, but the operator on the other end was just a script reader and I could not speak to an engineer - very poor.
I have a Linksys E2500 wireless router. It seems to be blocking a website (evernote.com). I cannot access this site from any of the computers/ devices in our house, whether they be connected by ethernet or wireless. However, when i move to a different network, I can connect to this site immediately from exactly the devices that do not connect in our house.
How can I determine how/if the router is somehow blocking this site? I have reset the router and upgraded the firmware. Same problem persists. I see nothing in the router settings that would be blocking this site, and I have certainly done nothing intentional in the settings to block this. We used to be able to connect to this with no problems, but all of a sudden, we are blocked.
This is now an issue with new firmware. I cannot even log into blockbuster.com. I have noticed cookie issues since 2.0.04 firmware installed.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've had this router for years. I have 2 servers always on, 1 computer with skype, and a 2nd linux machine with ports SSH, bittorrent, and SFTP open. Nearly all the port forwards are assigned to support this.
I got a brand new desktop with lots of CPU/Ram and was using it for development. The network card kept "going out" I would be online and all of a sudden no connections would go out from it.As I tested and diagnosed it I found it still got and held a valid IP, received DNS, but no HTTP or FTP connections would work externally. If I tried to HTTP or FTP to any computer locally on the network it would work fine. But try to access the internet and it was nothing. Restaring the machine would solve it but only for a while, usually run normally for 10-15 minutes then lose network again.. re-installed the drivers, the OS, but the problem remained. I shelfed the unit figuring it was an internal problem with the desktop since it was the only machine.Recently I got a refurbished laptop. to my surprise, it began doing the same thing as soon as I used it! exact same symptoms. So I pulled the old desktop out and it runs completely fine now! the problem has 'transfered' from the desktop to the laptop so I now believe its the router. The router does it to both wired and wireless devices, and seems to target one device at a time to be bitchy to. Allows them to run for a while and then blocks all outgoing port 80/443/21 from that device.

Everything that I know to check for (security, filters, restrictions) are showing errors or something that might cause this. I believe it may be related to the IP expiring, and when the IP renews the router stops permitting its traffic outbound.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI cannot connect to my company’s VPN after installing the current firmware (FW_E4200_1.0.02.013_US_20110524) on my E4200 router. Version 1.0.01 was on the router when I received it, and it worked without issues. As soon as I upgraded version 02, I could not initialize a VPN connection. When I try to start a VPN session, I get a "page not found" error when attempting to initiate SSL VPN service using a Microsoft Forefront Unified Access Gateway. VPN pass through is enabled for all protocols in the e4200’s setup. As soon as I revert to firmware 01, everything works fine again.
I did a fresh download and re-flashed the 02 firmware just to make sure that it wasn’t an issue with a bad download or a faulty flash. The problem is consistent and repeatable. I have upgraded and downgraded twice, and the results are exactly the same. My VPN connection works with firmware 01, and it fails with version 02. There is a something different in the 02 firmware that is blocking VPN access.
I tried to block youtube and facebook https in my router WRT610 V1 but the router fails blocking these websites. But, it does work for blocking youtube and facebook http.
View 9 Replies View RelatedDevice: Linksys E1500 - firmware: 1.0.01? I've got a static IP setup for a small remote office and want to keep tabs on their internet connection by pinging it via a monitoring program we use. However, the router seems to not responding to ICMP.
- Filter Anonymous Internet Requests is unchecked.- I've verified that the Static IP is correct.
- I've tried pinging from several remote locations on different connections, with no avail.
I can't seem to figure out why i can't ping this device. I just want to make sure there isn't a setting in the wireless router that is preventing echo replies.The only other thing i can assume is that Comcast is filtering ICMP on their side of the WAN connection.EDIT: Here's a traceroute from my PC to the WAN side of the Linksys....

I bought the EA6500 yesterday, to replace my E3200.Formerly, with the E3200, I was able to block applications on the router admin page, without blocking all internet access, under the "Access Restrictions" Tab. I could create access policies that allowed internet access to specific devices, while blocking port ranges/protocols for specific applicatons. while this didn't work for Skype, which jumps from one port to the other until it finds an open one, it worked perfectly for World of Warcraft. the primary target of my restrictions.in common with the old setup for the E3200, the new cloud login allows me to block internet access completely to a device. it also allows me to block websites to my heart's content, an improvement upon the old system, which stopped at four. but to my great surprise, it will not allow me to specify port blockages for specific apps for specific devices., while the new EA6500 is blessed with the added capability of actually recognizing applications by name, *it is only to give them greater priority*. the Media Prioritization tab lets you give a ton of your bandwith to specific apps, but won't let you throttle or block them. Is there some way to work around this? Some alternative firmware? again, I don't want/need to block all internet access to a particular computer. I only need to block some apps (World of Warcraft, and Skype, possibly some torrents) by closing some ports.

But I cannot connect with the firewall enabled,One more thing, the device is on and I have enabled the passthrough (and 'Multicast Passthrough' in firewall basic settings) for all available options where one of the options is PPTP.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Linksys E2500 Firmware Version: 1.0.03 and am using the "IPSec Passthrough" for work. On a typical day I'll sign in to my work's VPN, do my work, sign off in the evening, and read my personal email with a direct connection to the internet.
Then on the next morning, I am unable to connect to work until I go to http://192.168.1.1/index.asp and click "reboot." And as soon as the modem finishes rebooting, my laptop can connect to work. I've tried this several days in a row now, and indeed all I need to do to get the VPN passthrough working is rebooting the modem.
Nothing under "Applications & Gaming" is set. I've seen some posts about having a trigger on UDP port 500, but I'm not quite sure how to translate it for the E2500. Plus I'd rather the router "just work" day after day for VPN and everything else, like my old router did! Is there some other setting to try or clearer directions for a bulletproof IPSec passthrough on that unit?
My router,EA4500 is blocking just one I.P address,(a game server), and I am unable to connect to the server. I have tried this on 2 different computers, reinstalled the Cisco Connect software, reset to factory defaults and it is still blocking me from getting on this server. When I by pass the router and plug directly into my modem the Server shows up fine and I am able to get on but when I put the Router back it blocks it and does not show up at all.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSetting up website blocking. I have set up access restrictions for selected times and days but I also want to set up access restrictions for webistes. Perhaps I'm just not clear on how this is supposed to work - I created a policy called 'Site' and then enter the URL in the website blocking area. The options under the 'Access Restrictions' area are either 'Allow' or 'Deny' - intuitively one would assume the selection should be 'Deny' since this policy is to block access to specific URL's. However, if I click 'Deny' and then save, then the URL's I just entered are cleared. However, if I select 'Allow' then I am essentially giving 24hour access every day to my computers (but blocking the URLs), which then seems to go against the access restrictions I set up for selected times and days. Perhaps these two policies are mutually exclusive but it does not seem clear that it is.

If I use my PC and PPTP VPN to another location, I can browse the website fine. If I remove the router and plug directly into my Comcast internet connection, I can browse the website fine. If I enable logging on the router, it shows the connection on port 80 just like every other outgoing connection. Security log shows nothing. I was on firmware version 1.0.03, upgraded to 1.0.05. Tried resetting to factory defaults before I updated firmware, and after I updated the firmware. The website all the sudden just stopped working 2 weeks ago. I also tried putting my PC as the DMZ IP address and nothing.

-I have emptied all cache, cookies, etc.
-I have reset the router to factory defaults and updated the firmware
-I can load both sites from other networks, however two different computers using my router fail to load these two sites.Until a couple days ago I was able to access both of these sites regularly, and I haven't installed anything or changed any settings on my computer.The fact that two different computers cannot load these sites seems to indicate that it is a router problem.

All I did was replace the old router with the new one and now they cant share files? I looked through the router settings and cant find anything showing firewall blocking the file and print sharing. why I cant share the files and how to allow the file sharing?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been using my WRT310Nv2 Cisco wireless Gigabit N router for 2 weeks now, and sometimes, it's blocking access to Facebook.comI am not aware if it does the same thing with other websites, but my guess is that if I fix this one, I'll fix them all. So here I go, I click on my Facebook icon in my bookmarks and all goes well. Then, a while after, Facebook doesn't respond anymore and I'm send to a page that says "this is probably not the webpage you are looking for!" and it goes on about someone probably trying to hack my Internet and so on. But it's impossible: my network is under a solid WPA/WPA 2 security access. So I try again and click on the FB icon, and it shows me this:

I am trying to set up an access policy on my WRT400N. Whenever an access policy is enabled, all internet acess is completely blocked. This occurs irregardless of what the access policy is supposed to block. Even a blank access policy that allows access to everything and doesn't have any computers registered still blocks everything. How do I get it to stop completely blocking internet access?

Up until about 10 days ago I had no problem accessing websites affiliated with World of Warcraft [URL].But now, I cannot load any of these sites.Also, when I use the Blizzard Launcher for WoW, the news panel does not load. The game itself, though, loads fine.This is definitely a router issue because when I disconnect the router and connect directly through my cable modem, I can access everything with no problems.These are the only sites my router is blocking. I didn't change any settings on my router so I don't know why it's suddenly blocking things. I reset my router and that didn't work.
