Can't Find An Ip Address On Dell Inspiron 6400 Laptop

Jun 12, 2011

My laptop won't find an ip address and connect to the Internet right now I'm using my iPod. I know the Internet is working. I have a Dell inspiron 6400. Two days ago I had an Internet connection but I had to switch it so it would automatically find an ip address. I cAn get a connection at my moms house and it works just fine but any where else it can't find an ip adress. I've gone to start>run>cmd>ipconfic then I go type in that ip and it connects but won't let me connect on a browser or messenger.

My laptop won't find an ip address. I'm only 14 and I've tried everything I could think of. Two days ago it would connect to the Internet but wouldn't connect on a browser or messenger so I hadda change the tcp/ip to automatic then it worked but now with different wireless Internet it can't find an ip address

I just came upon an old inspiron 6400 and i'm trying to get the wireless internet on it.

i believe there's a "card" (maybe, Sierra  wireless aircard 580) missing and that would be why i cannot connect. Here's what i got on a linux command linedoom@Zombimatic / $ sudo

Dell Inspiron 6400 Wifi Is On When Disconnect Ethernet Cable

Oct 18, 2011

I am running a rather old Dell Inspiron 6400 on Vista. Recently Virgin installed their latest Hub / wireless router for me and since then i cannot make a wireless connection to the internet. Before that I use to be able to connect to my old router (Linksys Wireless-G 2.4Ghz) no problem! I can connect via the ethernet cable no problems. The WiFi is on and even when I disconnect the ethernet cable, the bottom right hand corner symbol says that I am connected but I cannot load the internet and keeps giving me this message:"The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded."The Virgin Media support team ran a check and told me that my wirless adaptor is out of date and needs updating so I went on Dell Support, downloaded and installed the follwoing drivers but still no joy!

1) Broadcom diagnostic utility 440x 10/100 utility controller

2)Broadcom driver 440x 10/100 utility controller

3)Dell Driver Wireless 1390 WLAN Minicard

I have also ran a wireless WLAN utility diagnostic check through the control panel. In the Connection diagnostics, the Gateway IP Ping 'failed' and I think as result of that the Internet IP Ping, DNS IP ping and internet website domain name ping all 'skipped' but all else passed.

Dell :: Network Controller Drivers Not Found Inspiron 6400

Jul 3, 2009

i just reinstalled windows on my laptop and i figured i could just download drivers from the dell website. after following the installation order specified on the website.. installing first the NSS and then the chipset, etc.. I realized there wasn't a driver for the NIC on the website. i also noticed that the steps didn't include a step for ethernet drivers, so i replaced the NIC step with installing the broadcom integrated controller. unfortunately, after completing the rest of the installation steps, my Network Controller driver is still not installed (looking in the device manager), a hardwire connection through the ethernet cable gives me "limited or no connectivity" and there is no wireless capability whatsoever.

Dell :: Inspiron 6400 - 1390 WLAN Mini-card Malfunction?

Nov 7, 2008

I have a Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop running and with a Dell 1390 WLAN mini-card installed and a Broadcom 44/10x100 integrated controller.

Unfortunately I've never been able to get this laptop to function with my wireless Internet.

Everything's working out nicely, and the computer connects to the network smoothly. After 5-10 minutes of full and unproblematic Internet connection the computer crashes the wireless network i.e. the Inspiron and all other computeres connected to the network is disconnected and my wireless network no longer shows up on the list of available networks.

The network works perfectly with every other computer I've used with it.

I've installed the newest drivers for both the 1390 and the integrated controller from this site. And my Vista is of course also fully up to date.

I've also tried turning the antennae settings to "aux" - Alas, to no avail.

Dell Inspiron E1705 PC Won't Renew IP Address

Jan 26, 2013

My Dell laptop will no longer connect to the internet and the issue I'm receiving is:

"Windows could not finish repairing the problem because the following could not be completed: Renewing your IP Address"

I've run multiple scans on the computer with 3 different programs so have determined it does not appear to be any sort of malware issue but either a windows issue or hardware issue? When this first occurred I performed all the usual steps for repairing the connection, rebooting the router/modem, running IP config to make sure it was even showing up, direct connecting to the router, malware scans, removing dead networks from the auto-connect list, checking TCP/IP properties, checking ipconfig, looking at router settings to make sure nothing is turned off, all to no avail.

I don't know if I missed anything in the areas I looked at, or if I am just looking in all the wrong places. The computer is a Dell Inspiron E1705 with XP Media Center Edition version 2002, Service Pack 3.

I had to do a clean install of the laptop. Until then good connection no problems BUT since the clean install I am experinecing intermitant problems Wifi connecting to the router. The wireless finds the router without fail but won't always connect. When is doesn't, a reboot makes no difference but power cycling the router always works. After hours of strong connectivity the connection drops out unpredicatbly.
I have tried updateing the driver for the wifi NIC and the Proset software direct from intel which seems to make no difference.

Dell :: Inspiron 1520 Cannot Authenticate Network Address

May 5, 2013

My grandma has a Dell Inspiron 1520 running WinXP and has a Dell Wireless 1505 Draft 802.11n WLAN Mini-Card. The other day I reformatted her computer for her to clean things up and since then I have been unable to connect to the internet. Her computer will recognize the wireless network and connect to it but after a few minutes of trying to authenticate network address it will pop up a little window that says "limited or no connectivity." I've read countless forums on the internet using my computer and have come to the realization that it's an invalid ip address. In one post I read someone provided an ip address, subnet mask, default gateway, and a preferred DNS server code that I typed in which then showed that I was connected with wifi but still says authenticating on the WLAN card.

Restarted / Reset my modem.2. ipconfig / release and renew.3. Deselect IPv6.4. net stop and start for winhttpautoproxysvc and dhcp client.5. Turn off McAfee firewall.6. Reset network adapter settings.I can connect to internet in "safe mode with networking" but not in normal mode.In fact, I can connect to the same wi-fi using my smartphone. Somebody suggested me that it could be a dnschanger virus attack. I checked that also and it's not that virus.
