I have recently created a wep key for my network, but when I try to connect my laptop to the network it says the settings saved on this compute for the network do not meet the requirements of the network?
View 2 RepliesThis past weekend I went out of town and took my Windows 7 laptop with me -- since I returned home, it has been unable to connect to my wireless network. Other devices in my home connect to the network just fine, and the problem laptop has always been fine until now. My network card is an Atheros AR9285, and I'm attempting to connect to a Medialink router with WPA password protection and AES encryption.My wireless network icon in the task bar has a yellow sign with an exclamation point in it. It says "No Internet access."

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy laptop won't connect to my router however the wireless network connects to everything else in the house fine. It might work for a little bit ( sometimes an hour, sometimes only a few minutes) but then it will completely refuse to connect. The wireless LAN is enabled, it even shows full signal on the laptop it just will not connect. The LAN is enable but the button for it is blinking, I don't remember it blinking before. I'm not sure if that could be the problem. As its connecting it just says " waiting for the network" and that happens for about a minute then it just disappears.

I have even removed all security and have it set as an "Open" network to see if this will resolve and still the Dell is unable to connect. It just says the connection is local only. Every once in a while it will connect for a reason I don't know, but when I try it again the next day, it won't work. My laptop has a Belkin USB Wireless Adapter which is correctly installed, and soon finds the network, - signal strength "excellent". However, I can't establish a connection with the message "acquiring network address" being shown.I suspect that this is because I have forgotten the correct encryption key for the secure network and have been inputting the wrong key.Is there a way of finding the correct encryption key? Or maybe I have the correct key and am doing something else that's stupid.

View 14 Replies View RelatedWe just upgraded our internet, which also meant installing a new WiFi router, and mostly it's working fine. The two desktops and two of the laptops in the house all play nicely with the new router, but the third one (an old Fujitsu Siemens AMILO La1703 running Vista Basic) mostly stops responding when I try to connect to the new network. Any other network works fine. I can't actually connect to them since I don't know the keys, but it doesn't affect the laptop. When I try to connect to our new network however, the network connection dialog boxes stops responding and if I try to restart Explorer I still can't open any network related settings or menus. Most of the other stuff works.
I have tried manually configuring the network with the SSID and network key, but the result was just that I couldn't open the network settings at all, even after a reboot, since it was already trying to connect. I have also tried booting up in network enabled safe mode, same thing happens. All drivers are the latest. If I connect it to the router with a cable everything works fine.
My laptop can no longer connect to my home network. It used to connect fine, but I was having problems with my graphics card as every time I went on Youtube it would crash. As a result, I sent it into ASUS (it is an ASUS K52J Series) and got the motherboard and the hard drive replaced. After this, my laptop seemed to be working great. It connected to a variety of networks, including 3 home networks, and 2 public networks. However, it cannot connect to the network in my apartment.
I know this network works and is connectable as my roommate's laptop works perfectly fine. So I know it is not a problem with my laptop since it connects to other networks, and I know it is not the network since other laptops connect to it. I've tried resetting my adapter, I've tried turning off the firewall. Also, I've tried the trouble shooting option numerous times after trying a variety of things that usually fix the connectivity, but it always says that the problem cannot be detected.
It's starting to be really frustrating, especially since I'm in university and sharing a laptop when both my roommate and I need to do work is not convenient.
My computer won't connect to my network. I goto my list of wireless networks, chose my home network and press connect. Then a prompt comes up and says " Windows is unable to connect to the selected network. The network may no longer be in range. Please refresh the list of available networks, and try yo connect again", I'm in the same room as the router so I know I'm in range. It won't let me connect to any other networks either, other than one named VirusHost. The VirusHost doesn't sound like a network I want to be connected to though! When I start my computer in Safe Mode with Networking I can connect to the Internet, so I don't know what the deal it. Also it seems this happened awhile back and a friend of mine did something in the Internet options, advanced settings to fix the problem. Not sure exactly what he did.

I'm not running any firewall but Windows Firewall. This problem has only cropped up recently. At first, I was only having the problem with public wifi networks -- at home, using my own wireless router, there was no trouble. Then I deleted my home wireless profile as a troubleshooting procedure, and I can no longer connect to it, either.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am unable to get my laptop to connect to the internet when my wifi network has any type of security option or authentication selected. i want to password protect my network and it shows that the network name and passphrase i selected are correct on the router setup page. I can connect to wifi just fine when there is no authentication set on the network, but when I change it to WPA2 or WEP or any type of security on the router setup page, my laptop is able to find the network and connect with local only access. it gives me the option to reset the network adapter or generate a new ip address, but the problem still persists, and the connection only works when there is no password. is it my laptop or the router that is the problem. it has worked previously with a different router with password security.

Initially, I couldn't connect via ethernet cable either, but I went into the settings and set it to obtain an IP address automatically. After that, I could connect via ethernet no problem.I was able to successfully connect wirelessly on two different mobile phones.I still can't connect wirelessly to this router (well, technically it says it's connected to the network, but it won't connect to the internet, nor can I bring up the hub settings). View 2 Replies View RelatedI have recently moved and I brought my wireless router with me from my last home. The wireless router is a D-Link DIR-615 Wireless N Router. I reconfigured the router with a new connection name, password and security key. Upon trying to connect to the wireless network once it was fully reconfigured (no problems reconfiguring whatsoever), I was getting the "Windows was unable to connect" message. Since then, I have been able to connect successfully to the network with an iPod Touch, Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and my roommate's laptop. I have tried resetting the router and modem with no success. I can see the wireless network in the available connections list and other networks in my area. I can also connect to the internet through this router manually using an ethernet cable (which I am doing now, to post this message). I submitted my computer's specs using the SysInfo app given at registration.

My laptop all of a sudden can't connect to my wireless internet connection and also seem unable to find any other wireless network but mine.I recently moved to a new flat, but brought my old modem/router with me (Scientific Atlanta 2434) and use the same ISP. Last week everything worked as a charm, but at the new location my laptop won't connect to my network, though I can connect to it through my mobile phone. My laptop only seem to find my own network ("Fidel") but with my mobile I can pick up 10-15 different networks from my flat. Connecting my laptop to the modem with a cable works all good. I tried to remove "Fidel" from my networks and added it again, typing wrong password gives a message saying "wrong network key" so my laptop and the modem seem to shake hands at least. Yesterday when trying I actually got connected, but the connection died after a few minutes and I wasn't able to connect again.Windows device manager display no errors nor conflicts around the ethernet controller or network adapter. Have tried to update the drivers through the device manager as well but it says they are up to date.Windows version is Windows 7 Home Premium.Don't know if my ISP uploaded new firmware to my modem when I connected it in my new flat, but on the other hand I can't see why this would affect my laptop's ability to pick up other networks in my house? So once the rescue and recovery was done some of the drivers were lost including the wireless adapter. I found most of the drivers and was connecting to the internet wireless fine. I just got internet installed in my house a few days ago, in the beginning the laptop would connet to the internet through the gateway set up in my home. Someone reset my modem back to the default settings by mistake. So I reset everything back to the way it was but now the laptop wont connect. I thought it may have been a problem with the modem but when I checke it it says everything is working fine so Im assuming that its something wrong with the laptop. It connects fine if I plug the ethernet cord in and I get the 'wireless networks detected' message and when I clikc on it my network is displayed but when I try to connect it says windows is unable to connect to the selected network. the network may nolonger be in range.

I recently upgraded my dads(vista rig) to windows 7. It ran fine, had all the drivers, etc. The wifi works fine on my home network. However, at his house it's not connecting. I'm currently trying to get model numbers, etc to try and figure it out but in the meantime I was wondering what things to check while waiting on that information? His phone and my sisters laptop connected to the wifi just fine(so he says) but his laptop won't.
I find out but I plan on going over there after work(45 minute drive) and wanted to have a list of things to check so I don't have to do it in multiple trips.
