Windows 7 Laptop With Atheros AR9285 Network Card Can't Connect To Wireless Network?

This past weekend I went out of town and took my Windows 7 laptop with me -- since I returned home, it has been unable to connect to my wireless network. Other devices in my home connect to the network just fine, and the problem laptop has always been fine until now. My network card is an Atheros AR9285, and I'm attempting to connect to a Medialink router with WPA password protection and AES encryption.My wireless network icon in the task bar has a yellow sign with an exclamation point in it. It says "No Internet access."
I have an ASUS x54c running 64 bit windows7, I took my computer in to be repaired (it wouldn't charge properly) and when I got it back it wouldn't connect to the internet. It just says not connected with a big red X on it. The networ adapter is Atheros AR9285, I've tried running the built in diagnostics but with no results.
The laptops are supposed to be compatible with CCXv5 program, but in WLC (and two controllers CT-5508) the client is not seen as CCX client compatible !
So roaming is bad. Even with a very good and dense wifi coverage (no coverage hole detected), because the laptop still stay associated with a far AP (until -90dbm), instead of roaming with the nearests APs (-40dbm !!)
I have Lenovo laptop and my internet works just fine when the cable is connected but Wifi does not work. It shows that i have excellent signal on the side but it just wont connect. When i type in password it says " Windows cannot connect to XYZ ". I use Windows 7 and my wireless network adapter is Atheros AR9285.

I have an hp g62 laptop and it has an Atheros ar9285 wireless adapter and a realtek pci-e ff ethernet adapter. For some reason just recently neither will connect to my netgear cable wifi router. I have two smartphones,xbox and two other laptops that connect with no problem. Everything is configured correctly that i can tell and both drivers have been updated. still nothing, it trys to connect but keeps saying identifying then it says no internet access. also i have disabled firewall and entered the security paraphrase twice just to make sure.
i have a samsung N130 with an Atheros AR9285, a few months ago everything was working fine, suddenly i was disconnected, and i couldn't find any wi-fi connection. i tried system restore, installing the latest drivers, nothing is solving the problem. The wireless chip is working properly according to windows device manager.
Using a D-link usb dongle i could find wireless networks and connect to the internet.
How i can enable promiscuous mode on my Atheros AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter? I'm using windows 7 starter.driver version of my Atheros AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter:9.2.0.427.
Sometimes I cannot connect to the router after my computer has been to sleep. This has occurred on different routers. I can still see the network, but am told I cannot connect when attempting to connect to it. Restarting/shut down does not solve the problem - I have to restart the router itself, and then my computer will reconnect automatically. Other computers/devices will be unaffected by this and maintain a connection the entire time. Atheros AR5B91 Wireless Network Adapter using Windows 7 Service Pack 1.
I have read numerous postings on this and ather sites about the Atheros AR9285 not being able to see wireless networks - and guess what I have the same problem!My laptop is an HP CQ61-312SA upgraded to 4GB of ram, and running Windows 7 Home Premium, I have tried everything I can find on this and other forum sites with no luck at all, including updating drivers, making sure Wlan is started etc and I have downloaded programs like Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector and Insider = both of which show absolutely nothing.I have one other problem that might indicate a software problem - on the odd occasion when my computer does try to connect to a wireless network it resets to a blue scree which states that it is doing a 'physical memorey dump' and then restarts.My Atheros card has worked perfectly for 2 years, but I managed to purchase another it case it was faulty - with the same results. I also upgraded the memory in case of a memory fault.Rolling back drivers and using system restore does not work and ipconfig/all gives identical readouts to others with this problem.

The first is a Linksys WRT350N; the second is a Linksys WRT54G. Once I set everything up, I saw a substantial increase in the link speed reported by the Toshiba Connectivity Doctor (I realize there are issues about taking these numbers at face value, but let me continue). The Toshiba Connectivity Doctor reported WRT350N link speed at 130 Mbps and everything appeared to be working well.PROBLEMUntil recently, no problems were apparent; the Toshiba Connectivity Doctor indicated the two laptops connected to the WRT350N at 130 Mbps, the printer connected to and printed via the WRT350N, and all G devices connected through the WRT54G. Recently, however, network performance declined and the Toshiba Connectivity Doctor indicated erratic link speeds ranging from 1 Mbps to 130 Mbps.I found through a little research that my quest to reserve the WRT350N router for N devices lacked one element: according to Linksys info for the router, setting the N Transmission Rate to anything other than Auto results in denying access to B/G clients.I set the N Transmission Rate to 270 Mbps (the highest setting). The Linksys printer works fine and the Toshiba Connectivity Doctor indicates a solid 130 Mbps link speed for the Toshiba laptop with the Intel 4965AGN adapter card.The other Toshiba (with the Atheros AR5008X adapter card), however, is now only able to connect to the WRT54G (the Toshiba Connectivity Doctor indicates a solid link speed of 54 Mbps to the G SSID). I got my wife a new laptop in October, and it runs on windows 7, since the 25th of december she has been having connectivity issues with her wireless card. She had 2 bars on her signal strength, and I wanted to take the signal strenght out of the equation, so I got a N range booster to put in the room she is usually in, she now has a signal strength of 5 bars. However she still loses connection to the internet.
ISP is Bell Fibe 25 Router is the bell modem/router in one. My son's Laptop goes in that room, and has no issues. I have made sure the drivers are up to date on both the router/modem, and on the laptop itself. The only thing I cna think of is that it is the card itself that is faulty.
my specs are:[CODE]After i re-installed win 7 home premium 64 bit edition i've managed to install successfully the Realtek PCIe GBE driver but when i connect the router directly to the laptop i got no internet.Meanwhile windows did not recognized the WiFi network card Atheros 9285.i tried diffrent driver and though it had been installed, in Device manager i only see "Bluetooth generic module" and in the "change adapter setting" i only have Local Area Connection.
I have had some problems in the last few days regarding my wireless router. i am using a Sony Vaio VGN-NS30E laptop with a TP-Link Wireless N Adsl2+ modem router. ISP = Utility Warehouse. Network Adapter = Atheros AR928X Wireless Adapter.
I can connect via Ethernet, but as soon as i try and use my wireless it comes up with "unable to connect". I also have a Print server running in the other room to allow me to print wireless. I have had all the wireless connections working up until this week (monday).
Called technical support after losing internet connection repeatedly and internet getting slower. ISP know reckons i should be getting up to 11.5mb's per second download, but connecting is the problem now.
my machine is HP ProBook 4530s (bought 2 weeks ago) with Atheros AR9285 WiFi adapter. My OS is Windows 7 Ultimate x64. There is a public wireless network near my home which when I try to connect to I almost always get an "No Internet access" message and no connection. In the rare cases when I connect to the network it dissapears a few seconds after I manage to load a page. The reason why I'm writing about this is that I have another very old (4-5 years old) laptop - Asus with XP SP3 and Atheros 5006EG Wireless network adapter, which connects to this network very easily and with reasonable speeds. I have put the two computers next to each other and the old one connects with no problems, while the new, if finds the network (somethimes it doesn't show on the list of wireless networks or it shows with fewer bars), almost always gives the "No internet access" message and an occasional exclamation mark on WiFi network icon. I tried to read the descriptions of the two adapters online and as far as what I understand the new should be better in any way, but I am not familiar with the terminology, thats why i am starting this thread here.
My question is it possible my 5 years old laptop to have a stronger and better WiFi adapter than the new HP or is it a settings/software issue? If it is the latter, how can I fix it?

One other thing is that when I bought the probook it came with Linux SUSE operating system and the signal was again weak. I am not familliar with Linux so I switched to Windows.
My only issue at the moment and im not sure if im doing something wrong but the wireless card is Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N 1000 and it says it can do Wireless N Connection but im not able to get it connected to the wireless N network. When i go in to view the options it gives for Wireless Mode it says B/G or just B or G. Now up top it does say 802.11N Mode and has the option for Enable and Disable and its Enabled. I have uninstalled the driver and intel software and reinstall everything a few times but no resolve. How i need to get the card to connect to the N Network?
I have an ASUS M4A785-M MB with an on-board LAN and all of a sudden stopped working yesterday. I have it connected to a 4-port D-Link network switch which has one other computer connected, and the switch is hard-wired to my wireless router.
Here are the trouble-shooting steps I've tried:
- uninstalling/re-installing the driver - tried using different wires. - by-passed the switch - used the wired connection with the other computer - tested the wire for my troubled computer on the other computer and it works fine - pinged the loop-back IP address (127.0.0.1) and it tested ok - bought a new NIC and still no connection
When I go to Network and Sharing Center, it shows my Home GRoup but then has the bid red X from the Home Group to the Internet.
I run a windows 7 x64 and I am currently running a Intel (r) 82579V gigabit network adapter. The thing is, the driver was made for 82579LM and V versions. Most of the time, my computer reads the adapter as the LM version, in which the ethernet just won't work. Once in a while it gets the V version and everything is alright, but i can't live with such uncertainty. Mostly people suggest i should just buy a new motherboard (?) or a new network adapter, but i'm sure it's a software problem. Shouldn't there be other solutions? The card itself is integrated.
Recently I dual-booted my PC from Windows XP(On which the LAN card was working and i was able to access the internet) to Windows 7.Then i formated the drive on which WinXP was installed. Sometime later i noticed that the LAN card (Atheros A8151 PCI-E Ethernet Controller) was not working i went into the adapter settings in network control in the control panel and there was no adapter. i checked the device manager and there was no option called NETWORK ADAPTERS.
I have recently bought a Atheros AR922X Wireless Network Adapter and I have had problems with connecting to a 5GHz router. When I connect windows connects fine but the router changes to a 2.4GHz.So Does The Atheros AR922X Wireless Network Adapter Support 5GHz Internet Connections?

And of course, the Atheros AR928X Wireless Network Adaptor.It seems that no matter what I do wireless capability cannot be enabled. I tried turning the wireless capability button on and off but to no avail. Then I pressed FN+F2 and it didn't fix it. In both those situations a box which displays the status of the wireless LAN connection comes up, however, it reads "OFF" regardless of me performing the above two "fixes." According to my computer the card is enabled and I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the device driver but nothing changed.
I cannot stay connected to the internet with my Asus. When I troubleshoot, it says the wifi was not on, turns it on, but I lose connection again and then can't get it back. Brand new. No hardware button.
I was online then all of a sudden i got disconnected and now it won't show any network available. My other laptop and xboxes are online just fine, so I know then it's an issue with my one laptop. But I don't know how to fix it. No networks are found at all and internet only works when it's wired. My laptop normally always works on the wireless network, but every now and then its randomly stopped working and said "identifying network" followed by "could not identify network, unidentified network." When i would troubleshoot it would say stuff about the default gateway and not a valid ip address. THis was fine because it would always just start working on its own in a day or so. I'm having an HP laptop with windows 7 installed on it, but cannot view available wireless network. under network and settings i can see the wireless network card, which means the wireless drivers has been installed. but can't view my wireless network but other computers are viewing my wireless network.
I currently have a Toshiba Satellite L750-04K, which has an Atheros AR9002WB-1NG wireless card.It's specs say it's a 802.11b/g/n, but it only offers 1 stream N and max's out at 150Mbps. While the card incorporates Bluetooth, it's a very basic wireless card.While I had a 'G' series router, the laptop connectivity was great and never dropped me off the network, however when I upgraded my router to a new 'N' series, my laptop would constantly drop off my network, requiring a constant resetting of my wireless adapter to get me back online. Other devices were fine on the same router.Thinking my laptop was faulty, I sent it back to Toshiba under warranty and while it tested ok, they replaced the wireless card as a precaution. When I got it home, it was exactly the same, constantly disconnecting.I've tried every troubleshooting measure available and I've come to the opinion I need to put a much better wireless adapter in my machine, especially if I want to utilize 'N' routers.
The wireless card I want to install is an Intel 6235 6235ANHMW WIFI WLAN BT Bluetooth 4.0 Half MINI Card. I chose this card as it has Bluetooth incorporated and it's also dual band and offers up to 300Mbps.Will this wireless card be compatible with my Toshiba L70-04K and apart from drivers will there be any other changes I'll need to make to ensure the card works correctly? First network card have the static IP address 82.x.x.30 from the ISP.The second network card have 2 IP addresses: 192.x.x.0 and 82.x.x.1 ( first IP is for LAN and second IP is for routing the additional IP class).In other words if i have the computer "Z" with configuration: IP: 82.x.x.100 Sub: 255.255.255.128 and GTW:82.x.x.1 i can access the internet but practically with with the IP from ISP wich is 82.x.x.30
When I'm home I can get online but it's slow webstar. I used to be able to get online at the local McDonalds with free wi-fi, real fast. Now, the connection list doesn't show the "FREE McDonalds" connection.
I have: Atheros AR5B97 Wireless Network Adapter, Windows 7 on ACER Aspire 7741z-4815. It has been updating until recently, don't know if it's because I haven't been online as often or what.
So, i' m pretty un-satisfied with my WiFi speed so far and i have this laptop which has a wifi adapter ,Atheros AR5B93 Wireless Network Adapter And i' m getting internet from my neighbor above me, and i get in speed test max 2.4MB Download and 0.24MB upload and now i was thinking about a USB Wifi adapter to get more speed and i need some info about these antennas .
Recently the wireless internet connection on only one of my laptops is really laggy. By laggy I mean that usually the connection is ok, 20mbps, but like once in a couple of minutes the connection slows down to like 3mb for a minute or so ( Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test) and when it does the connection becomes really slow. This is very annoying when browsing the internet or playing online games, because it causes connection losts, and slows down loading webpages etc. The problem has to do something with my laptop because on my other (wireless) laptops and the wired PC these problems don't occur. The problem also occurs when no other PC is connected to the network.My laptop is an Asus K53SV and my wireless adaptor is an Atheros AR9002WB-1NG Wireless Network Adaptor. My ISP is UPC (The Netherlands).
I have access to a wireless network, but when I try to connect my laptop to the network it says that it can not connect. And, of course, you can't troubleshoot it without a connection...I don't know if I accidentally changed my settings somehow or what, but I'd like to get the problem solved.
