I want to use RADIUS (of Secure ACS 5.3) to authenticate users within an ISP environment. Users log connect to a network using a point to point connection (L2) and then they are sending a RADIUS request to get IP adresses. Secure ACS is not quite easy to look through in that case.

I'm trying to use 802.1x to authenticate clients on my network with dynamic VLAN assignment from RADIUS. We have IP-Phones(powered by PoE) that only supports EAP-MD5, and we would rather use MAB(it also uses LLDP-MED for some settings) to authenticate the phones using the MAC-range from the phones vendor. The following scenario works perfect:Connect the phone and let it boot up(takes a while) and authenticate with MAB.Connect a computer in the phones data-port and let it authenticate with 802.1x(or fail and reach guest-vlan) However, the following scenario doesn't work:The computer is already connected to the phoneThe phone is then connected to the switch What happends now is that the computer is authenticated using 802.1x before the phone boots up and get's authenticated with MAB. When the phone is ready, it's authenticated with MAB and everything works. However, after a short period(let's say a minute), using `debug authentication all`, we see a "NEW LL MAC: phones mac" message(which is weird since the mac has already been MAB-authenticated), and then we are unable to contact the phone using ping. When I check `show mac address-table` it has now moved the mac from `Port Gi 0/12` to `Port Drop`. However, if I check `show mab interface Gi 0/12` or `show authentication sessions` it lists the phones-mac as `mab auth sucess `.why the first scenario works, and not the second?

The RADIUS response was the same when using 802.1x as it is with MAB for the phones (including device-traffic-class=voice AV-pair).
We have several ASA 5510 firewalls which are being used as VPN gateways.RSA SecurID is the authentication mechanism using native SDI connectivity. No ACS server is being used.Is it possible to assign user Group and other attributes (such as ACL), using the SecurID RADIUS server? I know this is what the Cisco ACS is for, but is it possible using the RSA RADIUS server itself?

I have a home desktop, home laptop, and work laptop that I use. I have Ultra VNC setup on my work laptop that allows me to remote into that machine when I am traveling for work. I have always been able to use the external IP address (not private) to login into the machine with no problem. This week, for some reason, I can no longer do that. When I started doing some discovery, I noticed that when I have all 3 machines booted up at home that the exact same external IP address is assigned to all 3 machines. The internal IP addresses are all different as they should be.Shouldn't each machine have a seperate external IP address assigned as well? Or is this working the way it should? I didn't change any setting on my router or DSL model. But I think the conflict that VNC is having on my work laptop is that it has the exact same IP as the destination computer and it fails. I can remote in if I use the private IP address (192.168.x.x) just fine.

But still not the right privilege (Privilege Level: 1).Also, I found this document via Google: [URL] The router configuration examples all show this "aaa authorization exec tacacs+|radius local" command, which my device does not have.So I am wondering if I am not reading the ACS report right, or the device actually was assigned the correct privilge but that does not work without the "aaa authorization exec" command in the configuration?
View 1 Replies View Relatedhow I can assign a static IP to a user in ACS 5.2. I am able to do it in ACS 4.2, but I don't see the same options under 5.2. General idea is that users authenticate from our VPN appliance via RADIUS, and upon authentication, their static IP is passed back to the VPN device. I can attach an arbitrary field to my local users by going to System Administration -> Configuration -> Dictionaries -> Identity -> Internal Users, but how do I get that IP address passed back when the user is authenticated via Radius?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got a network of several AIR-LAP-1242G LWAPP access points controlled by a 2112 WLC. I assign static IP addresses to each LWAPP, but every few weeks, a couple of them (at random) revert back to grabbing a DHCP-assigned dynamic address for themselves, despite the fact that they're supposedly solidy configured to have static IPs. What's going on here? Is this a bug in their firmware or the WLC's firmware? If I reboot the APs, then they come up with their static IPs, but after running some random number of days/weeks, will spontaneously change their own management IP addresses and grab a DHCP address for themselves.
The 1242G APs version numbers reported by the WLC's web GUI are:

I have been successfully able to setup Cisco AnyConnect VPN on ASA 5520 with 8.4 code. I have set it to authenticate against the RADIUS Server (Microsoft Windows 2008 NPS server). I have noticed one thing, on the server under "Constraints and Authentication Method". I picked MS-CHAP-v2, but it is considered Less secure authentication methods. I can click on Add and choose other Authentication methods like Smart Card or other Certificate, PEAP, EAP-MSCHAP v2. I picked PEAP but then the VPN does not work.
So first of all does it really matter if I just leave it to MS-CHAP-v2? Because from my understanding is that AnyConnect will authenticate to ASA and then ASA in the backend talks to the RADIUS server so from a security stand point this scenario shouldn't it be sufficient as no un encrypted or less secure information is available to the outside world? Secondly is there any documentation on using PEAP with Cisco AnyConnect?

Eg: There are 2 OU groups in AD, Sales and Administration. Authenticated user in Sales group should get Vlan 10 and user in Admininstration Group shoudl get Vlan 20.

Will a user whose password is about to expire attempts to authenticate against ACS 5.2, will they be notified that their password is about to expire?Also, when a user attempts to authenticate but their password expired yesterday, will they be prompted to change it and if so, how will that prompt to change it be presented?
View 3 Replies View RelatedWe're using Cisco Secure ACS 5.2 as a Proxy AAA server, using Active Directory as an External Identity Store. They are already synced and connected and thus I can login into the VPN using my Domain credentials.
But that's not enough. My client needs to limit who can and can't establish VPN session, I mean, the way it is now, EVERY single employee can do that if his/her credentials are valid in the Active Directory domain controller. So I need to do two things:
1) Using the Microsoft NPS server, via dialin attribute, allow or deny VPN sessions using ACS/ASA;
2) Using the company user credential attribute to identify which Authorization Group the requesting user should be in, Downloadable ACLs will then be applied according to the access policies created for each company.
Cisco Airespace configuration in Cisco Secure ACS v5.3. We're migrating to ACS v5.3 but we're encountering an issue with Cisco Airespace. It is only working on ACS4.1 but when we tried to move it to Cisco Secure ACS v5.3, it is not working.

But with Radius it seems I can only get the Local identity store to work, need to do something special to get Radius to work with active directory with Cisco ACS?
I've got 2 freshly installed ACS 4.2 for Windows servers and I need to apply the latest patch rollup before I build the configurations. I stopped the ACS services and ran Acs-4.2.0.124.15-SW.exe to install the patches. The application begins running fine but fails on upgrading the database and then none of the ACS services would start. I was able to restore the files from the backup that runs with the patch utility and get ACS functioning again. What am I missing - does the patch rollup require any specific Microsoft Patches to be installed or something like that?

When I hit "Test Bind to Server", I get this error message in a popup window: "Connection test bind Failed :server certificate not found"Is this saying that ACS can't find the CA certificate uploaded, or does it mean the actual certificate presented by my LDAPS server during the bind test?

Additionally, the Domain that I am connecting to has Multiple sub domains. All of the users are currently in the Sub domains, but will be moving to root domain later. How should I configure the connection, do I need to connec to each sub domain or can I just connect to the root?
I just want to know if i need to support High Availability in Cisco Secure ACS 5.1 appliance, will the base license suffice or do i need to buy Security Group Access System License/ Large deployment License. Again, do we require license for each appliance or just one is enough?
I Suppose the licensing rules are same for the Vmware version also.
I've recently been looking into linking in our Cisco 2960S Gb Switch with RSA SecureID via Radius.I've already managed to link it in for ssh access
but I've not managed to get it working for http / web access to the switchI think this is because we're using "single use" tokens for maximum security with RSA Secure-ID and the web interface attempts to authenticate multiple times against the Radius part of the RSA SecureID server (okay on the first authentication, but each time after it's going to want a different token code)
(if there's a way to get the switch to just authenticate once instead of multiple times against the radius server) For info the switch is a WS-C2960S-24TS-L with IOS 15.0(1)SE2
We're running Cisco Secure ACS V5.1 on a Linux platform to manage remote access to many networking devices. This has not been in place long, and is generally working OK. However, whenever I set the parameters of the user authentication to 'disable user account after X days if password was not changed', so as to comply with our internal security regulations, the user IDs seem to disable themselves intermittently, irrespective of whatever number of days I put in this - this can be a couple of days after re-enabling, or just a few minutes.
This can be found in the advanced tab here: System Administration > Users > Authentication Settings.In the mean time, we are having to set the user authentication to be non-expiry. Is this a known fault with this version of software? If so, would there be a patch available, and how would I go about obtaining it?

- Packet Data Flow ID (ID 1, integer16)
- Direction (ID 4, integer8)
- Transport Type (ID 6, integer8)
- UplinkQoSID (ID 7, integer8)
- DownlinkQoSID (ID 8, integer8)

I was able to configure the first 6 attributes, how can I add the Sub - TLV's ClassifiedID, Priority, VLAN-ID and Classifier Direction which come under Classifier. Don't see any option for that in ACS 5.x
We have 2 ACS 4.2.1 servers in Windows 2003 with SP2 installed. We have updated the first ACS to the latest patches for Windows. After that we started having problems. CSRadius either stops by itself or when some time passes we get the following error in Failed attempts "Unknown error". When we restart the ACS services by the GUI, it resumes until the next time it stops.Do you happen to know if we have any bugs related to Windows patches?

(trying to assign VLAN 100 in my scenario).When user connects to the Router, it passes the authentication process (EAP-MD5). Maybe i must to enable same service to show the authentiaction failed. The Voice authetication works fine..
