We're on the 192.168.1.x domain, and I've already hooked my PC up directly to the DAP-1522 and switched its IP address. So now, I can connect to it through the switch. I've renamed it, set it to WPA2 with a passphrase, and should be set to go. However, I can't get my laptop, IPod touch, or any devices to see it. Also, the DGL-4100 doesn't list it under the DHCP clients, but as I've got the DAP-1522 set to a static IP of 192.168.1.50.
I have multiple computers on my network as well as cell phones logging in as wifi. At least once a day I have trouble or another computer has trouble getting on line through my network. I have to unplug my router and replug. Its as if it doesn't recognize the ip address until reboot.

Now I've reinstalled it for better security using my newer laptop: no SSID broadcast and encryption set for WPA2-personal. However, when I enable Mac filtering and permit my newer laptop, the WAP54g does not recognize it.
Disable Mac filtering and my laptop is back on the network.

a new LAN installation, two VSS pair 6509 core, 15 closets, with 3750 stacks. Floor 15 only, devices/hosts can ping teh DHCP server but cannot aquire IP addresses. no such problem on other floors?

I've tried to cascade two Linksys routers, but It hasn't worked for me. The first one (which has cable-modem connection) is the brand new E4200, and the second one is the old WRT54GCv3.[code] However, the WRT54GCv3 doesn't get the IP address from the E4200's DHCP. I've also tried to connect them directly (without the PLC), even specifing an static IP on the second router, but I got the same results.I've to state I don't want to change the first router IP/gateway parameters because I have a web and game home server working with an static IP and I don't want to put it offline temporarily because of readjusting network parameters.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have an old ASA 5505, and I'm having some trouble with Nat Hairpinning. I've done this with other firewalls before and I am having no luck now. I have an internal address that I wish to forward from an external address- so if someone goes to 123.456.789.012:3456 then it will forward to 192.168.1.244:92 (All numbers are arbitrary here- only for illustration). I have and Access Rule and NAT and PAT set up so that I can get in if I originate from outside the LAN. What I am trying to do is to have this work from inside the LAN as well- so that if I am at my desk, and I connect a device and type in 123.456.789.012:3456, it will deliver the content at 192.168.1.244:92. The problem I am having is that it just isn't working, and I cannot figure out why- When I started here, there was an address configured to work this way, and it still works- I just cannot find what is different between what I am doing and what the person who configured it did.

View 1 Replies View RelatedA couple of weeks ago, one of our ASA 5505s failed, and Cisco TAC shipped out a replacement. I was on vacation, and my assistant worked with TAC to get our backed-up configuration restored to the new hardware. This backup was just a copy & paste of the "show start," rather than an export done from ASDM. Anyway, since I got back on vacation I was able to iron out all the wrinkles from the configuration restore, except one. The remote access VPN isn't quite working. This VPN is only used in emergencies, when I can't access that branch office's network via our WAN.
What's happening is that clients are getting "authentication failed" messages when connecting. On Windows, it's an error 691. The VPN is set to authentication against RADIUS (Microsoft IAS server). The IAS server reports that the connection and authentication is successful. AAA RADIUS authentication tests on the ASA succeed, as do authentication & authorization LDAP tests. Basically, everything was working fine before we swapped in the new hardware, and I've gone over the configuration with a fine-toothed comb to ensure nothing's changed -- but clearly, I'm missing something. The new ASA is otherwise operating perfectly.
I have asa 5505 with security plus license, I configured dual ISP with two different ISP provider. I followed below cisco document to configure dual ISP [URL] The Configuration works during the testing, while removing the primary ISP cable from firewall. The problem i am facing is my primary ISP is down but the gateway is still up and it not switch over to backup ISP. For SLA which IP should i monitor so once my primary ISP is down it will fallback to Secondary.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been getting overrun errors on 3 different ASA 5550 HA pairs with traffic rates less than 100Mbps total. I was told by one TAC guy to split the traffic between the two slots so that traffic comes in one and exits the other to maximize throughput because the 5550 was designed to work that way. Another TAC guy told me to enable ethernet flow control to alleviate the overrun errors because the traffic was bursty, but this doesn't seem to address the root cause of the problem to either. TCP traffic is bursty by nature and has it own flow control mechanism. I can't seem to find any detailed info on why traffic needs to be split for 100Mbps when the marketting throughput number is 1.2G. Is this a design flaw or limitation? Is there a way to alleviate overrun errors?

I just got a Cisco asa 5505 with the next OS and ASDM info ASA 5505 OS 8.4(3) ASDM 6.47 I configured and enter all rules to allow incoming traffic to LAN but it's not working also, I have one host inside that is configured in a second IP and create the rule to allow traffic to it but it doesn't work too.
Problem 1 I have VNC running in port 5900 tcp and I want to connect from Internet using port 6001 and this has to forware the connection to the real VNC port. In the configuration I have a few host with the same configuration but I use different outside port to get it.
Problem 2. I have a second IP with services: SMTP, HTTP, HTTPS and port 444 all TCP forwarding to a server in the LAN.
Facts: SMTP. Every time that I do telnet to the second IP looking for the SMTP port, the firewall doesn't let the incoming connection goes through and the LOGGING screen doesn't how that connection.PORT 6001 (outside)this port is configured to work with the IP in the outside internface and it was to send the incoming connection to a host inside to the real port 5900.Can any one check my configuration if I'm missing anything? for sure I'm but I didn't find it. Bellow is the configuration, I masked the Public IPs just left the last number in the IP, also I left the LAN network to see better the configuration.

I have an IBM R-40 thinkpad that I restored to original with the IBM icon and then updated it to a service pack 3 and updated anything that popped up. Now it doesn't recognize any wireless at all. I tried the FN,F5 still no luck. It has a INTEL card, Model WM3B2100 in it and it worked fine before the restore and update.

I am opening a small branch office in another state and the equipment we purchased is as follows:
ASA5505
3560G.
We'll use a site to site vpn but just in case there's connectivity issues I'd like to use the ASA as DHCP. So far I have a scope defined in the ASA and if I plug a laptop directly in I get an applicable IP address. I trunked the port on the switch that goes to the ASA but not the one on the ASA itself (license restriction) The VLAN that I'm using for my PC's has an ip helper address that is assigned to the inside IP of the ASA.
Trying to set up a asa 5505 in transparent firewall mode. I cannot set the management ip address:

Before there was also a problem with our local exchange server but I solved this by disabling ESMTP checking in the policies, but it didn't worked for my local ISP.

The message says, "Entered security key/password does not match the one set for your router/access point."Several weeks ago, I had to reset my wireless network password/security key. That reset worked for our 3 PCs and 2 Macs including this iMac...the one that now doesn't connect to the wireless printer or maybe vice versa...why the iMac can't connect to the Epson (or vice versa), but the iMac does connect to the wireless network, and in order to do that, it makes use of the new network password / security key that I just put in the Epson to set it up in the network. Can you tell me if the wireless router somehow has a password / security key that I did not change when I changed the wireless network security key? The new network password/security key that I entered in the Epson is correct.

Yesterday I had internet without any problems but this morning when I turned my computer on, the light on it wasn't blinking. Tried turning power on/off, unplugging and pluhging back but still no solution.Checked Device Manager and there is no (!) or (?) next to the device name. Also it says device is working properly. Even did the "scan for hardware changes" and again it shows that device is working properly.. But that's not all! The weirdest thing here is that my 3 neighbours who are from the same ISP have the exact same problem. We're connectrd to 1 box that is outside. The other part of the village that is on the same ISP has no such problems. So I'm wondering if it's a local corrupt cable problem or our cards have fried. I believe we use fiber optic cables.
