View 0 RepliesI've tried to cascade two Linksys routers, but It hasn't worked for me. The first one (which has cable-modem connection) is the brand new E4200, and the second one is the old WRT54GCv3.[code] However, the WRT54GCv3 doesn't get the IP address from the E4200's DHCP. I've also tried to connect them directly (without the PLC), even specifing an static IP on the second router, but I got the same results.I've to state I don't want to change the first router IP/gateway parameters because I have a web and game home server working with an static IP and I don't want to put it offline temporarily because of readjusting network parameters.

a new LAN installation, two VSS pair 6509 core, 15 closets, with 3750 stacks. Floor 15 only, devices/hosts can ping teh DHCP server but cannot aquire IP addresses. no such problem on other floors?

Motorola 336 dsl modem is set to bridge mode. My network has 2 computers attached: hardwire desktop and wireless connection to laptop. When I contacted ATT support, they said the problem is in the wireless modem. Are there some settings in the WRVS4400n that must be set to insure that each computer gets a different IP address?

i am having an annoying issue with my wrt400n and my foscam FI8918W. in the dhcp reservation tab, the wrt400n doesn't show the foscam anywhere in the tab. it shows all laptops, cell phones, nases, etc. if i use the cisco connect software it does show it in the network map. i can probably add it manually via the gui. is this something normal or security cams not considered devices?

They are permanently linked using the IPSec VPN tunnel and the dynamic DNS feature (DynDNS.org). I have found that the router in the UK does not update its IP address automatically to the dns website when the UK Internet service provider changes the WAN IP of this router. This makes the IPSEC tunnel go down until I telephone the UK location and ask to force the router to update its IP address with dyndns by restarting it or by using the routers configuration to re-save the password for dynamic dns.

I need these sites to be able to connect to multiple dis-contiguous subnets at our main office. This was easily done with smoothwall and linksys. You create a separate tunnel for each subnet and voila, you're done. However, when I tried this with our newly installed ASA, it will not let me create multiple tunnels to the same remote peer address. This is a problem since these sites only have a single static public IP address. Am i missing something or does the ASA not allow connections to/from multiple subnets form a site with a single peer address?

i have configured wlc 2504 .in that i have configured two interfaces.one is guest, 2nd is internal user, the pblm when user try to connect with that contain ssid user not getting ip address,
i have connected only one link between core to wlc on port 1.for guest interface i used port 4.but no physical link.
Currently we're providing DHCP to wireless clients from a dhcp pool on a cisco 6500. Due to new requirements we need to move to windows 2008 dhcp and when I test this on an unused WLC (7.0.235.0) the client doesn't get an address.
When I do a packet capture on the client I see it requesting dhcp but not getting any response from the server. When I do a dhcp debug on the client I see the same (see attached file).
This seems to me to be a server issue but the same server is supplying addresses to wired clients.
Is it problem with iPads or LAP1141n?WLC 4404 and many 1142 and 1141, so other devices laptops, iphones, androind phone works as well.But iPad authorized, but can't get an ip address from dhcp server (dhcp not local on wlc, on windows machine) with coverage lap1141, but it get ip with coverage lap1142, and when i got it i roaming to lap1141 and it stays, if i off/on iPads can't get it again from lap1141.

First of all, by connecting the router to my desktop through wire, it doesn't generate any IP address, except for 169.254.x.x.. I already tried configuring the IP to static mode, but nothing changed, I can't even access the router's interface, however, if I try the same thing (connecting the router through wire) with my notebook and netbook, I get the IP without any problems.
The second problem is related to the wireless connection. When I try to connect my smartphone (Motorola XT860) I get the IP normally and supposedly internet connection, however the connection only lasts for a few seconds, after that I am incapable of accessing even the router's interface (again). If my smartphone stays connected to the router, nothing else works even for other connected devices, but when I disconnect my smartphone, all the other connections resume as if nothing happened. I already tried changing the Beacon Interval, the Address Lease Time, and so on, but nothing has worked.
Attempting to get EA6500 working with TWC Motorola Surfboard SBV5220 modem, which has been working just fine for the last 2 years with a Linksys E3000 router. DHCP client in the EA6500 either doesn't ask for an IP address from the cable modem or the modem just isn't supplying one. With the E3000, you could see the IP address assigned by the cable modem and the primary and secondary DNS server addresses provided, and if the DHCP request didn't work, these addresses would be all zeroes. But, with the EA6500, I can't find an equivalent screen that shows these assignments, or zeroes when the DHCP request fails.

My 5508 WLC which runs version 7.4 is configured as a DHCP server for the AP management and here's my problem: My AP can get to the address, and can ping the address of the WLC management，But my AP prompts the following log： [code]
In the switch dhcp we can use to do the WLC option43 specified address, but in this case how the address specified WLC, the AP can be registered up?
I'm experimenting a strage issue with some AP1142 that prefer getting new IP from DHCP server rather than using the static ip already configured.
I've got more than a hundred of 1142 APs already conected to a 5508, all with static IP, all working fine for about a year.
As i installed 30 more AP, i enabled a dhcp scope on the controller to give IP to the new APs and when the new aps got registered i changed the configuration to static IP.
The problem comes when some of the older AP than have already static ip are gettig ip from dhcp scope.
If i look at my WCS, it reports that this APS are getting DHCP IP because they cannot reach the controller with their static ip. As this is impossible, because the static ip and the dhcp enable scope are in the same subnet in a layer 2 configuration and with the same gateway. (e.g: old AP 10.10.2.10/16; new AP(dhcp 10.10.3.10-50) 10.10.3.15/16; gw 10.10.254.1)
The problem comes when i disable the dhcp scope, all the older aps that got dchp ip from the wlc scope instead of using their staic configured ip are deregistered. If i reset every ap manually, from the swithc disabling PoE, they start to use the static ip and everything comes fine.
This is happening with about ten of fifteen APs from the 100 installed, that is the strange thing because this seem to be very random as the failing APs are installed in different building and connected to different switches.
As now i have disabled dhcp scope and all APs (old and new) have static ip everything is ok, but i will have to add some more APs shortly and every time i enable the dhcp scope on the wlc
The problem is WAP 610n not assigning IP address through DHCP; i have to add IP address mannualy.

To connect the Linksys WRT54GS to a Microchip DV102411 WiFi Comm Demo Board I need the IP address assigned by DHCP. The WRT54GS Administration Log is enabled but there is no Incoming or Outgoing network activity. The DV102411 sees the SSID linsys when scanning for wireless networks and attaches to it but once attached I need to know the IP address the DV102411 has been given by the WRT54GS.
