I buy a WRVS4400N router on amazon.fr because on cisco.com, the Product Specifications say "Dual-stack IPv4 and IPv6" [URL]
The ipv6 work for the local network. But the router does'nt fetch my IPv6 take by my ISP (by PPPoE) How do I get IPv6?
Since this router already set up for IPv6 and Dual-Stack traffic, would it be possible to give it the ability to get its IPv6 prefix from the WAN side of the router.
Example:
I have Comcast, and as long as my modem and router support IPv6, with the router also supporting DHCPv6-PD to get the /64 prefix from comcast.
I now have an RV180W so this is not an issue for me, but my father is inheriting the WRVS4400N from me and he is also on Comcast.
I just spent a number of hours getting a site-to-site VPN tunnel and Cisco Quick Connect client running on my WRVS4400N and RVS400. Turns out the problem was the routers don't route IPv6 properly and it takes precedence over IPv4
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have on my ethernet linux box, that is responsible for IPv6. This box is configured as IPv6 gateway from my network and it also sends RA to the network. All devices on ethernet network can work on IPv6 without problem. Clients, that are connected to WiFi, they just receive the RA from this box -> this packet is sended over WRVS4400N to the wifi network. But all other traffic do not pass the WRVS4400N, so the wifi client is not able to ping the IPv6 gateway. There is no problem on IPv4, there the wifi client is able to communicate with any ethernet device.I have tested WRVS4400N setting "ipv4 only". If I switch on "ipv4 and ipv6", than all devices will get some additional IPv6 adresses and the communication from WiFi client to IPv6 router is not working again. How to configure the WRVS4400N to bridge all IPv6 traffic between WiFi and ethernet?

View 0 Replies View RelatedMy ISP recently started offering dual stack IPv6. After changing IPv6 from manual tunnel to automatic, none of my devices get an IPv6 address from the ISP. In the troubleshooting page, IPv6 address is also empty. I tried resetting the router but had no difference. We have another router (ASUS RT-53N) and it works fine.The ISP is using PPPoE for IPv4. In RT-53N I choose "IPv6 with DHCP-PD" and Interface "PPP". There're no such options in EA2700 though.

I checked the equipment's snmp、telnet 、enable password setting , they all are the same as the lms credential setting(except one,which snmp don't be set) and make sure that they all can comunicate with lms server . I have set the longer time and more counters for timeout.My lms is 4.0.1 and the version can support c2928. I have a try to removal these devices and add them manually again, lms still can't get the configuration. LMS suggeststhat we can check the dcmaservice.log for detail, but i couldn't understand it.

I would like to get it clarified, that Cisco WLC 2504 running the code ( 7.2.110.0 ) does support IPv6 or not ?
From Cisco Documents they are asking to enable IPv6 support under WLAN > Edit Page, and Enabling mulicast on Ethernet Multicast Mode under Controller > General.
But from the GUI am not able to find the above two field, Even in Interface i created under Controller > interface is not accepting IPv6 address. I am able to configure IPv6 ACL .
Is any deployment document is available to show different scenarios with configuration.
Note - Am using Access point AIR-LAP1262N-N-k9
We have a 2100 cisco Wireless LAN Controller which manages 3 APs and assign IP address to clients which connects via wifi. Currently, we are deploying dual stack IPv6 and our consultant stated that our current controller does not support IPv6.
This is rather odd statement because there is an option to enable IPv6 in the advance tab of WLAN. And sometimes clients (win7 and Mac OS X) are getting v6 addresses, able to ping v6 sites, and reach v6 sites successfully. And other times, clients do not..or getting the v6 address for 10-15minutes, then unable to ping/reach v6 sites.
Our consultant is sticking by his words saying it does not support. If this is true, then clients should not be able to get v6 at all....not sometimes and not other times; very inconsistent.
And what is ipv6 pass through? What is ipv6 bridging?
How can I get IPV6 connectivity using rr. Does it has to be automatic or manual, Is there anyone with RR getting IPV6?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI hardly try to get WDS running with two WRVS4400N v2.The manual (and the web interface) says: "Note: The WDS feature allows WRVS4400N to connect with up to 3 wireless repeaters that can be either WRVS4400N or WAP200." But I wasn't successful by now in getting it working..What I've done so far:
- Setup the primary WRVS as Gateway, WAN through Modem, LAN and WLAN using WPA2 Personal Mixed, DHCP
- works perfect
- Setup the second WRVS as Router using the same WLAN settings, no WAN and no DHCP
- Enabling WDS on both WRVS, giving each the MAC address of the other
- no connection to LAN or WAN through the second WRVS
I really need the second WRVS act like a bridge. Since the manual is saying that I can connect both devices through WDS I bought two of them. On the other hand I've now read somewhere in the community, that this isn't possible with two WRVS (?)
I've got an out of the box WRVS4400N and it will not pick up a DHCP IP from the ISP.
I reset to factory defaults, tried another ISP, returned and got a second wrvs4400n all the same results - no IP address on the WAN port. The internet LEDs are blinking but no IP on WAN port and no internet connection from a laptop connected to wrvs4400n.
I even tried turning of the firewall too.
Is there something with these routers that needs to be done for internet access?
Most typical small routers are just set up as a DHCP client on the WAN side and DHCP server on the LAN side.
In the note, i ve seen we can configure a WDS with 2 WRVS4400N, but i can't.How can i configure the 2nd WRVS4400N as repeater? Or can i configure it as Access point for another modem ?

It works, but it eliminates all filtering and statistics that I am able to do with opendns.com.Open DNS does provide two IPv6 DNS servers, but I don't seem to be able to find where to set them in my e4200. I want it set network wide.Can I set my IPv6 DNS provider anywhere in the e4200v1 with V 1.0.04?

View 9 Replies View RelatedOur internet provider has no intention of providing a IPv6 DNS so I have a crippled at best service. We live in an area where our only option is through satellite service, so changing providers in not in the cards, yet.
If I "Disable" the DHCP Sever, the setup menu provides a method for me to force feed up to three Static DNS addresses, all with IPv4 addresses.
There are several locations that provide "free" DNS service, but how does one verify the security of such sites? Does Cisco keep track of the status of this kind of service or am I on my own? Cisco seems to endorse two DDNS services, but for home use, the extra charges seem otherwise unnecessary, and do not yet address the IPv6 question.
The first few that I have investigated that do provide IPv6 service also provide their addresses in IPv6 format. The E4200 menu does not seem to allow me to do that.
Am I going to be forced to live with crippled IPv6? I have already discovered a software product that has failed since changing routers, but works if I take my laptop to a particular WiFi location.
I set up the IPv6 on EA2700 (running firmware v1.1.39), and all the wired clients can get an IPv6 address, assigned by the router, without issue.However, all the wireless clients seem to unable to get an IPv6 address. If I connect a laptop to the router both wirelessly and with an ethernet cable, then the ethernet NIC gets an IPv6 IP but not the wireless NIC.

This seems to happen for 2 or 3 days and then it will go away for about a week and then come back. What is causing this? Most machines do not use DHCP.After a while (few hours to few days after power up) the router freezes and it is not accessible. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a D-Link DSL-320B ADSL2+ Ethernet modem that connects to the internet fine if I am using just 1 computer. However I have bought a Cisco WRVS4400N to enable me to get all of the other computers at home on the network (wired and wireless).
The WRVS4400N picks up a WAN address from the D-Link BUT I just cannot get an internet connection, just "Local" only. I have tried setting it up as a gateway, as a router, upgraded the firmware but it just is not having it. My previous experience with routers has been just to plug em in and let them get on with it. The WRVS4400N is proving very troublesome.
I am have a lot of difficulty getting my WET610N to connect to my WRVS4400N. I have tried almost everything. I have some older PC's, as well as my PS3, that we use to use on the network and they only connect B/G. I have tried auto DHCP and static IP on the bridge. It seems that the only way that the bridge works is by using the WPS function that the business class routers do not have.

Currently the only IPv6 address displayed is on the LAN page and is not configurable (greyed out) except for the prefix length. I already have a cable modem that will provide both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses as they are rolled out.

So I've realized that my parental controls were being ignored by the computers, at first I figured my son had found a work around to by-pass. But reading through the forums today, I've found that IPv6 being enabled might be the cause of my issue. So I'm currently sitting at work and connected to my router remotely, but for the life of me, can't see where to disable this option. Using the Smart Wi-Fi interface, closest I can get is "Connectivity, Internet Settings, IPv6 but everything is grayed out and no option to edit this.

I bought a EA4500 Router so I would be ready for IPv6, and also wanted N as well as the storage USB port. When I got the router, it came I guess with the original release firmware. It looked "Classic", but the box said Smart. I did the firmware upgrade. I could not get a IPv6 from Comcast. IPv4 worked fine.
I then changed to the latest "Classic: firmware, and all started to work. So I decided to try Smart again. Same thing, no IPv6 from Comcast. After being on chat for I think close to 2 hours today and getting no where, I did a reset to start at scratch again. I then got a IPv6 from Comcast. Many moons ago, it was a real hassle to switch devices hooked to a cable modem. At least here you had to power cycle the modem, so I have always cloned my wired Desktop MAC. So when I put it back in, I lost IPv6 from Comcast. Turned off MAC cloning, and I got the IPv6 again. So it looks like there is a bug in the Smart Firmware and MAC cloning since it worked OK with Classic firmware. OK, I could live with no cloning since the issues of yesteryear don't seem to be there in getting a IP from the cable modem.
Then for what ever reason, my computer would not get a valid IPv6 on the LAN from the router. I got some IP, but no Gateway. I tried everything I could think off. And again, plugging the computer directly to the cable modem, IPv6 worked fine. So something is just not right with this router as far as I am concerned.
Also, it seems like navigating through the menus on a local connection (192.168.1.1), I constantly got a message to wait popping up on the screen, for many seconds. If I had no Internet connection it would take forever on some things.
I have spent many hours on this, and am just giving up and going to look at another brand product. I don't need or want the "Smart" functions anyway.
I have installed a WRVS4400N router in a client's office. When laptops are plugged into the router everything works fine. When they are attached via the wireless signal it drops frequently. WPA personal is being used to encrypt. I have also installed the latest firmware and am having the same results. What can be done to eliminate the drops?
