Cisco Wireless :: WET610N Bridged To WRVS4400N?
Dec 24, 2010
I am have a lot of difficulty getting my WET610N to connect to my WRVS4400N. I have tried almost everything. I have some older PC's, as well as my PS3, that we use to use on the network and they only connect B/G. I have tried auto DHCP and static IP on the bridge. It seems that the only way that the bridge works is by using the WPS function that the business class routers do not have.

We have some rolling carts used for telemedicine and are currently using Linksys WET610N wireless bridges. I haven't been very impressed with them - I have to reboot them at least once a week and figure it's a roaming issue. Since they are a residential product they probably weren't designed to do a lot of roaming.I started playing around with WGB and setup an 1142 AP and got it to work. Unfortunately, the only place I can put the AP is inside the cart and the metal top seems to be interfering with the wireless signal.

I'm moving into a new house. I've purchased the E4200 and the WET610N so I can connect between the main house and the carriage house which will be my office. Carriage house is 60' away from the main house. I want to place the E4200 in the main house and will send it the broadband cable signal from the cable modem. I'll wire ethernet directly from the E4200 to the DVR for DirecTV and will use another output to distribute to other computers in the main house via ethernet switch. I will place the WET610N in the carriage house and want to take to output from the WET610N into wired ethernet switch(es) there for access to the broadband from the house.

I have a WET610 that I intend to use to connect a PC to the local network and further on to the Internet. The local connection works, I can ping to and from the computer connected to the WET610 and I can see the other computers, both wired and wireless, on the network so the wireless connection is ok but I can't connect to the Internet, I can't even ping the DNS I'm using. What can be wrong? All the other computers can access the Internet. The WET610 talks to a wireless AP which in turn is connected to a router

I have the bridge working but I have to assign a static IP address to devices connected to it. I can't get it to pick up an address from my DHCP server. Here's what I have:
Cisco ASA5505 (Firewall & DHCP server)
WAP54G - Access Point
WET610N - This Wireless Bridge
The ASA5505 successfully gives DHCP address to ALL wired and wireless computers. The WET610N has connectivity to the WAP54G. The status page indicates it's connected and I can get on the internet if I set a static address. However, once I configure my computer to automatically get an IP from DHCP, it just times-out and says limited or no connectivity. Again, when I set a static IP, I have connectivity to everything. I know the AP is working because I can get an address from my DHCP server (ASA5505) with my other laptops and even my cell phone. Why can't I get a DHCP address through this bridge (WET610N)?

I have a WET610N on my network with very little signal strength. My set up is:
Router E3000
48 ' (48 feet) to
WET610N
The WET610N is on 5Ghz N, and is the only device at Ghz, and indeed the only wireless device during testing.
The use for the adaptor is to connect an Xbox 360 as a MCE for Video streaming.It is unusable, with unwatchable lags and intermittent failures.The 'Network Performance Monitor" doesn't read in mb/s, but essentially I get about 1 or 2 'bars', well under the acceptable for Standard def reading.
zInterestingly, when I bring the device within 3 feet of the router, I get great speeds (30 Mb/s down), but the bit rate reading in the status screen reads lower than the below reading.
Below is at the 45 foot mark->
Link Status:Connected MAC Address:68:7F:74xxxx:31 Network Name (SSID):sx BSSID:98:FC:11:xxxx9:94 Radio Band:5 GHz Channel Width:20 MHz Wide Channel:N/A Standard Channel:36 Bit Rate:43.3Mbps Signal:10% Security:WPA2 Personal

After I updated my E4200 V1 with the 1.0.04 update I am unable to connect my WET610N to it with 802.11N. I can connect fine with 802.11G. I tried the Site Survey method of pairing them as well as manual. When it fails it goes through the minute timeout of trying and then Link Status is disconnected. I have anything from phones to laptops connect to the E4200 with wireless N, its just the WET610N that doesnt want to pair.
Before I was running the following:
E4200 V1 1.0.03
WET610N V1 1.0.05
Connection between them: Bridged, WPA2 Personal, 802.11N
After I was running:
E4200 V1 1.0.04
WET610N V1 1.0.05
Connection between them: Bridged, WPA2 Personal, 802.11G

My WET610N crashes when I'm using it behind my PS3 while I'm watching videos in DLNA with the PS3 Media Server. Sometimes I can watch it during 1 hour without problem, somtimes it crashes and restart after 10 minutes of playing already. The restart is taking quite a long time, something like 2 or 3 minutes to get back to a Wifi connection. The router is still working properly while the WET610N is restarting.
The firmware is the latest 1.0.03, the settings are made for Video Access mode. I'm not using any encryption, only MAC address filtering.
My Wifi router is a Belkin N+ (F5D8235-4 v2000).

I have a wireless network in a 2 storey house. The internet access and 1 WRT54GS router is on the 1st floor (using frequency channel 11). The wireless single doesn't do very well on the second floor unless there is a device with a strong antenna. I recently purchased a WET610N Bridge and I have an extra WRT54GS (using frequency channel 1).
I would like to be able to add wireless to the 2nd floor by attaching the extra router to the bridge which would wirelessly connect to the router with the internet.

Okay so I have been using my E4200 router and WET610N bridges for a while now without any issues really until yesterday when I updated the firmware on the 4200 now none of my WET610N's (I have 2) can connect via wireless at all. At first I thought it was a a wireless issue but I have other devices that connect up just fine via wireless.I've made no changes to the router or the bridges before the firmware update.
If I hook the bridge directly to the router I can access it and configure it, but looking at the "Status" page, I see the bridge try and connect wirelessly but is quickly disconnected. Range isn't an issue as in my testing the bridge was 2 feet from the router.I've update the bridges to the latest firmware and have verified a 100 times that the settings on both my router and the bridges are set correctly (when the bridges are hooked up via network card).

I have a small home network, in which the DSL modem is some way away from the room in which I do my work. Currently, I use a pair of WAP54G access points to bridge between the two locations, and everything works OK, if slowly.Today, I bought a WRT320N router and a WET610N bridge to replace the access points, but I having a real problem configuring them to work. I think the basic problem is with the IP addresses that they use. The current configuration is:
DSL Modem -> Access Point -- several yards -- Access Point -> PC
and I want to go to:
DSL Modem -> WRT320N -- several yards -- WET610N -> PC
I guess my basic question is this a reasonable idea or should I be using something different for the WRT320N end? I don't want to change the basic IP address subnet (192.168.1.*) and I want to keep the DSL modem as the default gateway (192.168.1.254). When I installed the WRT320, it assigned itself an IP address of 192.168.0.1 and the WET610N an IP address of 192.168.0.101, and I think the DSL modem also assigned the WRT320 an IP address of 192.168.1.99, so I am a little confused as to which IP addresses I should be setting where.

At home I am using the linksys wireless bridge WET610N to stream media to my livingroom. The setup looks like server <-> Linksys E4200 <-> WET610N. If I connect my laptop to the WET610N i get a speed close to 100Mbit/s. With this speed I can easily view HD movies, by playing them on my laptop. So far so good...But if I instead connect my Popcorn Hour A-100 (a media player) , to the WET610N (instead of the laptop) I get really poor performance. just a few Mbit/s, which is not enough.So my question is, why is the following setup working fine:server <-> Linksys E4200 <-> WET610N <-> LaptopWhen at the same time the following setup is working poorly:server <-> Linksys E4200 <-> WET610N <-> Popcorn HourThe WLAN connection between the Linksys E4200 and Linksys WET610N seems to be fine. The problem I am having seems to be the Ethernet connection/setup between the WET610N and the Popcorn Hour media player.

I have an E4200 router with 3 WET610N access points. I did the firmware update on the router, E4200, about 2 weeks ago so my son could use his xbox when he got home after 4 months of being away. Everything seemed to work OK as far as I could tell....but when he went to sign into xbox live and watch Netflix, it will load to 98% and stop. A friend of his came over with the new Slim xbox 360 with built in wireless and it will connect fine on its own, if we hook up one of the 610N's to it, it will load to 98% on Netflix and stop again with error code R8152. Both of my older xbox's will hook up and play on xbox live, just not work with Netflix.I also noticed, it shows the WET610N as a hard wire on xbox and will not search for any wireless networks, I have 2. The newer Slim xbox360 will search out both networks on its own if you allow it to use its internal wireless. This only happened since the firmware update.

I recently purchased the WET610N Wireless Bridge to use with my Samsung BD-P1590 Blu-Ray Player. The player has a few built in apps that include Netflix, Bockbuster, Pandora and YouTube. I successfully setup the bridge and hooked it up to the blu-ray player. It wasn't that hard. All the internet apps on the player work fine except Netflix. The first time I use the netfix app, it is supposed to give me a code that I use to register the device with netflix. However, I get a message that Netflix is temporarily unavailable. I have called netflix and they assure me that this is not the case and that it is most likely my wireless setup. The troubleshooting on Samsungs website points to the same thing. With that said, I disconnected the player from the wireless bridge and wired it directly to my router. Netflix works just fine then. Below is a list of things I have attempted:Disable the firewall on the router to see if it was blocking the app. (had the same results)Checked my firmware on all my devices (they are all current)Powered down all my devices and started them up back up starting with my DSL modem and ending with he blu-ray player (same results)Configured the bridge and player to use a static IP vs using the IPs automatically assigned by the router. (same results)Disabled aggregation on all WMM categories. I don't think the WRV54G router supports aggregation,, so I though this might cause a conflict with my setup. (same results)Enabled the broadcasting of SSID (same results)Chatted with linksys support. They basically checked to see if I had the latest firmware and that the bridge was working. They then recommended that I exchange the bridge for a new one. (I have not exchanged it for a new one yet, just because I am not convinced that there isn't something else wrong with my setup)My Configuration
DSL Modem --> WRV54G Linksys Wireless Router --> WET54G Wirelss Bredge --> Samsung BD-P1590 Blu-Ray Player
Router is broadcasting in Wireless G only on channel 1
Using WAP-PSK encryption
I am not sure if the problem lies with the routewr or the bridge. I am hoping someone out there can confirm that the WET610N truly does work whne using it with a BD-P1590 blu-ray player. This would lead me to believe that there is something wrong with my configuration or with using it combination with my older router. I would like to note also, that I have had one instance where BD Live didn't work. However, it has worked on other disks.

Is it possible to build two separate bridged connections from one "base"?
I'd need to connect to two other buildings which luckily happen to be quite on the same direction (antennawise). how to configure this into the devices I call "base", "building1" and "building2". The first building is about 50 meters and the other about 120 meters away. 11Mbps would be adequate for both. A some kind of encryption would be needed.

I have a question concerning replacing a 352 bridged network with 1552 mesh access points. Theoretically, imagine a centralized 352 with an omnidirectional antenna that is linked to multiple 352's with yagi antennas in a hub-spoke fashion. If this central 352 is replaced with a 1552 access point, will the existing Yagi's be able to talk to the 1552? I understand that the Yagi's AP's should be replaced with 1552's as well (thus forming a mesh network as the 1552s are designed to do) but for the sake of theory please assume the 'spoke' 352s will not be replaced. I have the understanding that the 1552s communicate over the 802.11a for the backhaul so I'm thinking this would cause some issues with the 352's.

I have a wireless N router (DIR-655) in bridge mode connected to a TWC combo modem/wireless G router. I have Tversity media server running on a computer connected to the TWC, but my PS3 which is connected wirelessly to the TWC combo can't see Tversity. What am I missing? Do I need to forward some port from somewhere? FYI, I'm set-up this way so my N router can deliver full N speed, and my G devices connect to the slower TWC router. Everything sees the internet with no problem. Also, to note that devices connected to the D-link can see Tversity, but devices connected to the TWC cannot see Tversity

I have a WAG200G as my ADSL modem and wireless access point. I would like to build two small wired networks that are remote from the location of the wireless access point (i.e. where my telephone line comes in) so that I can connect several network cabled devices in each location (e.g. NAS drive, TV, games consoles etc). I cannot run network cables to these locaations but believe that I can bridge them via the wireless. At a pinch, I could have only one cabled sub-network but would prefer two.

I want to set up an E1200 as a wireless access point for guests, and ordinarily I'd be happy to connect it LAN-to-WAN and have it create its own subnet, but I need to connect one office PC to it also because connecting the E1200 to the main gateway displaces that office PC from the last Ethernet port on the main router.
So I disabled DHCP on the E1200 and connected it LAN-to-LAN. The modem is at a fixed, non-configurable address of 192.168.0.1/255.255.0.0 and the main router is at 10.0.0.1/255.255.255.0. I set the E1200 to a static IP of 10.0.0.12/255.255.255.0.The E1200's primary wireless connection works fine. The guest access connects, but it does not prompt for a password and web pages generate a "failed to load" sort of message.I temporarily connected the E1200 as the main router and re-enabled DHCP, though I kept the static IP of 10.0.0.12/255.255.255.0, and in this configuration the guest access worked. I observed that it connected via 192.168.33.1/guestaccess.cgi (or something very similar to that).

I'm trying to connect my Xbox 360 to Live by bridging my computer's wireless connection. I've done this before for a friend in a different city and it worked fine, and I felt very proud of myself for doing so. However when I try to connect here, the modem won't assign my Xbox an IP address. I've been into ipconfig/all and tried to manually assign the same IP address to the Xbox but to no avail. Same deal with the alternate MAC address option.
To speed things along here's the readout from my ipconfig/all:
