Linksys WET610N - Windows Constantly Ping Wireless Network Bridge

Jun 23, 2012

I was looking at a Wireshark capture off my Windows XP box, and I noticed a rather curious behavior. Every 1-2 seconds, the machine sends a ping request to my Linksys WET610N wireless network bridge, which the Windows box connects to the Internet through.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Using WET610N And WRT320N As Bridge Within Home Network?

Mar 5, 2010

I have a small home network, in which the DSL modem is some way away from the room in which I do my work. Currently, I use a pair of WAP54G access points to bridge between the two locations, and everything works OK, if slowly.Today, I bought a WRT320N router and a WET610N bridge to replace the access points, but I having a real problem configuring them to work. I think the basic problem is with the IP addresses that they use. The current configuration is:

DSL Modem -> Access Point -- several yards -- Access Point -> PC

and I want to go to:

DSL Modem -> WRT320N -- several yards -- WET610N -> PC

I guess my basic question is this a reasonable idea or should I be using something different for the WRT320N end? I don't want to change the basic IP address subnet (192.168.1.*) and I want to keep the DSL modem as the default gateway (192.168.1.254). When I installed the WRT320, it assigned itself an IP address of 192.168.0.1 and the WET610N an IP address of 192.168.0.101, and I think the DSL modem also assigned the WRT320 an IP address of 192.168.1.99, so I am a little confused as to which IP addresses I should be setting where.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Using Bridge WET610N To Stream Media To Living Room?

Aug 25, 2011

At home I am using the linksys wireless bridge WET610N to stream media to my livingroom. The setup looks like server <-> Linksys E4200 <-> WET610N. If I connect my laptop to the WET610N i get a speed close to 100Mbit/s. With this speed I can easily view HD movies, by playing them on my laptop. So far so good...But if I instead connect my Popcorn Hour A-100 (a media player) , to the WET610N (instead of the laptop) I get really poor performance. just a few Mbit/s, which is not enough. So my question is, why is the following setup working fine:server <-> Linksys E4200 <-> WET610N <-> LaptopWhen at the same time the following setup is working poorly:server <-> Linksys E4200 <-> WET610N <-> Popcorn HourThe WLAN connection between the Linksys E4200 and Linksys WET610N seems to be fine. The problem I am having seems to be the Ethernet connection/setup between the WET610N and the Popcorn Hour media player.

Linksys Wireless Adapters :: WET610N Bridge And WRV54G Router Combo Not Working?

Feb 16, 2010

I recently purchased the WET610N Wireless Bridge to use with my Samsung BD-P1590 Blu-Ray Player. The player has a few built in apps that include Netflix, Bockbuster, Pandora and YouTube. I successfully setup the bridge and hooked it up to the blu-ray player. It wasn't that hard.  All the internet apps on the player work fine except Netflix. The first time I use the netfix app, it is supposed to give me a code that I use to register the device with netflix.   However, I get a message that Netflix is temporarily unavailable. I have called netflix and they assure me that this is not the case and that it is most likely my wireless setup.  The troubleshooting on Samsungs website points to the same thing.  With that said, I disconnected the player from the wireless bridge and wired it directly to my router.  Netflix works just fine then. Below is a list of things I have attempted:Disable the firewall on the router to see if it was blocking the app. (had the same results)Checked my firmware on all my devices (they are all current)Powered down all my devices and started them up back up starting with my DSL modem and ending with he blu-ray player (same results)Configured the bridge and player to use a static IP vs using the IPs automatically assigned by the router. (same results)Disabled aggregation on all WMM categories. I don't think the WRV54G router supports aggregation,, so I though this might cause a conflict with my setup. (same results)Enabled the broadcasting of SSID (same results)Chatted with linksys support. They basically checked to see if I had the latest firmware and that the bridge was working. They then recommended that I exchange the bridge for a new one. (I have not exchanged it for a new one yet, just because I am not convinced that there isn't something else wrong with my setup)My Configuration

DSL Modem --> WRV54G Linksys Wireless Router --> WET54G Wirelss Bredge --> Samsung BD-P1590 Blu-Ray Player
Router is broadcasting in Wireless G only on channel 1
Using WAP-PSK encryption

I am not sure if the problem lies with the routewr or the bridge.  I am hoping someone out there can confirm that the WET610N truly does work whne using it with a BD-P1590 blu-ray player. This would lead me to believe that there is something wrong with my configuration or with using it combination with my older router. I would like to note also, that I have had one instance where BD Live didn't work. However, it has worked  on other disks.

Linksys WET610N Bridge To Sonicwall TZ180 Wan Port?

Oct 4, 2011

I am trying to bridge a Verizon MiFi4510L to my Sonicwall network router via a Linksys WET610N wireless Internet Bridge. I have successfully gotten the the MiFi4510L to connect to the WET610N and can use the Ethernet connection connected directly to my laptop. I am assigned a DHCP of 192.168.1.6 from the DHCP of the MiFi.I then connected the WET610N connection to the WAN input on the Sonicwall device and connected my laptop to the Sonicwall controlled network. I configured the WAN connection as NAT with DHCP and it connected to the 192.168.1.6 address. However, I can not get to the internet, nor even ping 192.168.1.6 or 192.168.1.1. Something is being blocked (I assume by the Verizon MiFi4510)

Cisco Wireless :: WorkGroup Bridge / Which Mode To Use - WET610N

We have some rolling carts used for telemedicine and are currently using Linksys WET610N wireless bridges. I haven't been very impressed with them - I have to reboot them at least once a week and figure it's a roaming issue. Since they are a residential product they probably weren't designed to do a lot of roaming.I started playing around with WGB and setup an 1142 AP and got it to work. Unfortunately, the only place I can put the AP is inside the cart and the metal top seems to be interfering with the wireless signal.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200v2 Bridge Mode - Cannot View / Ping Device

Feb 20, 2013

I currently have 2 e4200 wireless routers. The first router is connected to 3 devices via ethernet, and the 4th port is connected to my other e4200v2 which is set as bridge mode. The main router is at one end of the house, the second bridge mode router is at the other end.My wireless devices are connected to the main e4200v2, along with all the wired clients.

When wirelessly connected to the 2nd e4200 (the bridged one) I cannot connect to or ping any wireless clients that are connected to the main router. (For example, in my bedroom I am connected with my computer to the 2nd bridged router, and I am trying to ping my other computer that is wireless connected to the main router. I am unable to ping to this computer. When I am conected wirelessIy to the mian router, than I am able to ping the other wireless computer on the same router. Note:I am able to access any hard wired devices to the main router, regardless of which router I am connected to. The issue only appears to be when trying to connect to a wireless device that is connected to a different router than the device I am connecting from. Both routers are setup on the same subnet mask with firmware Ver.2.1.39.145204

Linksys Wireless Adapters :: WET610N Not Passing DHCP?

Feb 7, 2010

I have the bridge working but I have to assign a static IP address to devices connected to it.  I can't get it to pick up an address from my DHCP server. Here's what I have:

Cisco ASA5505 (Firewall & DHCP server)
WAP54G - Access Point
WET610N - This Wireless Bridge

The ASA5505 successfully gives DHCP address to ALL wired and wireless computers. The WET610N has connectivity to the WAP54G. The status page indicates it's connected and I can get on the internet if I set a static address.  However, once I configure my computer to automatically get an IP from DHCP, it just times-out and says limited or no connectivity.  Again, when I set a static IP, I have connectivity to everything.  I know the AP is working because I can get an address from my DHCP server (ASA5505) with my other laptops and even my cell phone.  Why can't I get a DHCP address through this bridge (WET610N)?

Linksys Wireless Adapters :: WET610N Signal Strength

Jan 27, 2011

I have a WET610N on my network with very little signal strength. My set up is:

Router E3000
48 ' (48 feet) to
WET610N

The WET610N is on 5Ghz N, and is the only device at Ghz, and indeed the only wireless device during testing.

The use for the adaptor is to connect an Xbox 360 as a MCE for Video streaming. It is unusable, with unwatchable lags and intermittent failures. The 'Network Performance Monitor" doesn't read in mb/s, but essentially I get about 1 or 2 'bars', well under the acceptable for Standard def reading.

zInterestingly, when I bring the device within 3 feet of the router, I get great speeds (30 Mb/s down),  but the bit rate reading in the status screen reads lower than the below reading.

Below is at the 45 foot mark->

Link Status:Connected  MAC Address:68:7F:74xxxx:31  Network Name (SSID):sx  BSSID:98:FC:11:xxxx9:94  Radio Band:5 GHz  Channel Width:20 MHz  Wide Channel:N/A  Standard Channel:36  Bit Rate:43.3Mbps  Signal:10%  Security:WPA2 Personal

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 And WET610N No Changes To Bridges Before Firmware Update

Feb 6, 2012

Okay so I have been using my E4200 router and WET610N bridges for a while now without any issues really until yesterday when I updated the firmware on the 4200 now none of my WET610N's (I have 2) can connect via wireless at all. At first I thought it was a a wireless issue but I have other devices that connect up just fine via wireless.I've made no changes to the router or the bridges before the firmware update.

If I hook the bridge directly to the router I can access it and configure it, but looking at the "Status" page, I see the bridge try and connect wirelessly but is quickly disconnected.  Range isn't an issue as in my testing the bridge was 2 feet from the router.I've update the bridges to the latest firmware and have verified a 100 times that the settings on both my router and the bridges are set correctly (when the bridges are hooked up via network card).

Windows 7 Having To Reset Wireless Adapter Constantly

Sep 8, 2012

I just moved into a new place and I've been having a lot of trouble with the wireless connection. There are 4 other people sharing the wireless and none of them seem to have problems, and my phone connects fine, but my laptop will randomly lose internet access while still detecting the network. When I run the troubleshooter it says it has reset the wireless adapter, and the connection will work again, but sometimes only for a few minutes before it craps out. I don't have access to the wireless router itself, so doing anything with that will require asking the landlady (who doesn't speak English well). I had access fine for the first two days after I moved in. I did install a couple of programs after that: 7-Zip and Flash Player 11.2 (since the newest Flash version crashes my Firefox). I don't know if that could have anything to do with it.

I'm running Windows 7 64-bit on an Asus laptop. After searching around the forum a bit, I followed the instructions in this post and will paste the results here. I don't know if the ping address starting with 206 might be invalid since the post is from several years ago.

Linksys Access Point :: WET610N Shows Hard Wired Not Wireless With Xbox 36

Dec 27, 2012

I have an E4200 router with 3 WET610N access points.  I did the firmware update on the router, E4200, about 2 weeks ago so my son could use his xbox when he got home after 4 months of being away.  Everything seemed to work OK as far as I could tell....but when he went to sign into xbox live and watch Netflix, it will load to 98% and stop.  A friend of his came over with the new Slim xbox 360 with built in wireless and it will connect fine on its own, if we hook up one of the 610N's to it, it will load to 98% on Netflix and stop again with error code R8152.  Both of my older xbox's will hook up and play on xbox live, just not work with Netflix.I also noticed, it shows the WET610N as a hard wire on xbox and will not search for any wireless networks, I have 2.  The newer Slim xbox360 will search out both networks on its own if you allow it to use its internal wireless.  This only happened since the firmware update.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Can't Ping Windows Computers With New E4200 LAN / WLAN

Mar 18, 2012

just replaced a WRT54G with E4200. All computers can ping router, access hard drive, access internet, ping android and ping Macbook. However, router, nor any computer, can't ping Win7 computers. Apparently IP based connections between WinX computers is blocked. My real applications are to Remote Desktop Connect from 1 Win7 computer to another, or to run a DLNA music server on 1 Win7 computer, accessed by another. (the LAN connected computer is the server, accessed by a wLAN client. All worked fine on WRT54G router, but can't connect thru E4200.  When these apps failed, I tried PING, and that failed as well. All computer's IP addresses are properly served from E4200 via DHCP, and are visible thru the router's DHCP Reservation panel.

Also installed 4 1240 access point in the newly connected building to the new switch. Issue is my router and existing switches can not ping any devices on the other side of the bridge. They can ping both access points that make the bridge. I consoled the new switch and could ping the existing switches and router, after doing that the other switches and router are now able to ping the new switch. Now my main issue is I have a user using a 7921 phone connected to one of the new 1242's, when he makes a call to a person in the first building they can hear him, however he can not hear them. Our call manager is in another state were I am located. I can call him and vise versa, and we can hear each other. I have went over my configs server times, and doubled check my IOS versions to make sure they are up to date. I will be glad to provide configs upon request.

D-Link DIR-655 :: Wireless Stalls / Lags Constantly On Windows 7 - Wired Is Fine - REV-A - HW 1.35N

May 13, 2011

I have the Dlink DIR-655, Rev-A, HW 1.35NA Wireless Router Before you ask, I have reset the router to factory defaults, and reinstalled the latest firmware twice, most recently after trying everything else I could think of.I have Cable internet, ALWAYS using wireless, NEVER using wired except for the router installs, which worked just fine until I switched from my old D-Link router to this 655 one a few weeks ago. Now, very frequently, I will open ANY webpage, and the internet will lag, 5, sometimes 10 or 15 seconds and then suddenly it will work properly for a while... only to happen again a little while later - completely randomly it seems.I wired the router to the computer to check to see if the lagging still happened, and everything was fine.I am using a 1-year old Dell laptop, using Windows 7 Home Premium, 64 Bit, and the Network Adapter is Intel WIFI Link 5300 AGN with the most up to date driver confirmed.  Under the Advanced Tab for the Laptop's Network Adapter, the settings are as follows:

802.11n CHannel Width for band 2.4 - Value: 20MHz Only
802.11n CHannel Width for band 2.4 - Value: Auto
802.11n Mode - Value: Enabled

There are a number of other settings which I am confident are not relevant, but happy to provide The last setting is: Wireless Mode - Value: 6. 802.11a/b/g In the DLink Configuration, the relevant settings are:

802.11 Mode: Mixed 802.11N and 802.11G
Wireless Channel is on 10, so as not to use the most common "11"
Channel Width Auto 20/40MHz
DNS Relay Enabled
DHCP Server Enabled
Range: 192.168.0.100 to 192.168.0.199

[code].....

Under WAN, the Primary DNS Server numbers are showing and the Secondary DNS Server numbers are showing as 0.0.0.0 McAffee Anti-Virus is up to date and shows no viruses, nor to the Dlink Logs - McAffee Firewall is turned off, Enable SPI in Dlink Settings is turned on.this problem only occurred when I switched routers recently, the old DlInk router I had never had this issue.  And I am using a completely different network name with this new router to avoid any conflicts there.  And this problem does NOT occur when hardwiring the laptop to the router directly, it only happens via wireless.Storage of the router is fine, it is in the same spot as the old router was, not to hot, not too cold, it didn't eat any metal for breakfast and there are no MRI machines within 10 miles.
