The operation steps on router (WRVS4400N):
1.Set the IP mode as Dual-stack IP and then save
2.Disable the IPV4 DHCP server
3.Use other deivces to connect the router.
The connected devices have the same IP address(2005:123:456:789::1),I am confused,why is it?
I've purchased a router SRP547W and I would disable DHCP server. On the control panel I can't see anything about disabling this function. I don't need dhcp server on router and I don't need dhcp relay. My firmware version is 1.2.4_003.

View 8 Replies View RelatedWe have an SRP541W on which I thought I had disabled DHCP, its turns out that in fact I haven't. After seaching again for the DHCP on/off funtion I found it under the Vlan settings (Wierd place to put it I thought).
The Router has a static ip address on the LAN side of 192.168.1.254 and is connected to a Cisco 2700 series on the WAN side. Our network DHCP is served by an SBS 2011 server hence my reason to switch off DHCP on the router. However when I select Static IP address from the Address Type in the VLAN settings and try and save the changes I get an error that is IP Address / Subnet Mask value is illegal. Great but why when the router has and IP address assigned and the subnet mask is set do I get this error. On the VLAN settings page there is no option to set an IP Address

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen clients connect wirelessly to the WRVS4400N they successfully get a DHCP address from the Windows 2008 server. After they have the address they can no longer access the server. It cannot be pinged, no drives can be mapped and internet access fails because the same server is running DNS. The WRVS4400N is setup for DCHP relay to the server. Wired clients do not have this problem. Wireless clients that connect to a secondary WAP on the same LAN also do not experience this problem. I have updated the router to the latest firmware version, reset it to factory defaults and reconfigured from scratch. Turning the server firewall off has not made any difference either. I have been able to bypass the internet problem by adding a second external DNS server in the DHCP scope options.

I need an IPv4 address as well. My host (running Windows 7) gets has both an IPv4 and IPv6 address listed when I run ipconfig. When I run ifconfig on the guest (running Ubuntu Server), it only lists IPv6.

And plug one cable from main network to the LAN port of the additional routers.So we basically use that additional routers only as a access point for WIFI.But what I wonder is if it's possible for me to use the additional routers with the same feature as of the main routers i.e. Enabling DHCP server so that it too can give its own DHCP ip address.

The router is not the RVS4000 and is at 192.168.2.1
The RVS4000 dhcp is assigning it's clients a default gateway of 192.168.2.8 instead of what I want 192.168.2.1. How can I get the RVS4000's DHCP server to assign another IP address other than its own as the default gateway to its DHCP clients?
i have a cascading network in my house of 2 linksys routers, I left the DHCP server activated on both of them and it seems to work fine, whats the point of turning it off?

Internet <-> Residential Gateway (RG) from ISP (OEM: Pace) [192.168.1.254/255.255.255.0] <-> RV180 [192.168.1.253/255.255.255.0] <-> SG500 switch [192.168.1.250/255.255.255.0] <-> rest of network.
I know this is a cascading LAN-to-LAN arrangement. The cable from the RG to the RV180 is from a LAN port on the RG to a LAN (not WAN) port on the RV180.
I eventually want to segment my network into a few VLANs from the RV180 down. I am aware most people would recommend DHCP on the "primary" router, but the RG is non-VLAN aware, so I figure I need to handle the DHCP off the RV180. At the same time, I have also opted not to do a LAN-to-WAN cascade because I want to retain the ability to configure the RG from the rest of the network and not have to cart a computer over to the RG to do it.
On the RG, I've disabled DHCP, and placed 192.168.1.253 in the DMZ.
On the RV180, I've enabled DHCP and put it in Router mode.
The issue is that I do not have any Internet connectivity. If I allow the computers in the network to receive IP addresses over DHCP, the default gateway that is communicated is 192.168.1.253, which is the RV180. If I configure static IPv4 information on my computers to point to 192.168.1.254, I am able to connect outside, as you would expect.
How can I get the RV180 to pass out DHCP IP addresses, but point to 192.168.1.254 as the default gateway? I thought the solution might be to create a default route (or something). I went to the static routes tab but it wouldn't let me enter 0.0.0.0 as a destination IP to route through 192.168.1.254.
Further down the line, is it possible for both the RG and the RV180 to connect directly to the SG500, along with the other nodes in my network? That way the RV180 only serves to maintain the VLANs and pass out IP addresses via DHCP, instead of having it be the choke through which everything goes through on the way out?
How many IP address can handle the DHCP server of the RV0xx Series VPN router? can be configured for more than 250 ip addresses? it is posible to configure the router in order to have more than 250 ip address?

So far I can see dhcp requests coming from the R1 and dhcp server on R2 replies with the dhcp offer but PC is not getting any ip.
I have a RV042 router. The problem that I am having with it is that the DHCP is giving out the wrong Default Gateway and DNS Server. There is no option to change the DHCP server IP on any of the settings pages on the router. I am begining to think that there might not be a way to do it. I see that there is an option for the DNS under the DHCP page but the Public IP that is being handed out is not the one on that page. I also have 2 WAN connections hooked up as well a DSL link and a Cable link (the cable link is the primary one).
The following information is provided in an effort to resolve this issue:
IP of Router 10.0.0.2
IP of DHCP Server (the one that is being handed out):10.0.0.1
IP of DNS (the one that is being handed out): 10.0.0.11

1. login into RV220W admin web
2. Create a VLAN, id 201
3. Go to "Multiple VLAN subnets", select the VLAN, click edit
4. Enter following info:
IP Address: 172.16.0.1
Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0
DHCP Mode: DHCP Server
Domain Name: Cisco
Starting IP Address: 172.16.2.100
Ending IP Address: 172.16.10.254
Primary DNS Server: 172.16.0.1
Leave rest of settings with default value.
DNS proxy is enabled
5. Press Save button. The UI shows text "IP Address Range -".
Expected result: RV220W shall save the setting and make use of 172.16.0.0 subnet in IP pool. By the way, the error message "IP Address Range -" seems incompleteI tried same setting on netgear FVS318N (very similar settings to RV220W), it accepts 172.16.0.0/16 as DHCP IP pool and works.RV220W has great feature set meets my needs. Its UI is slow and sometime dashboard freezes, which I can live with comparing to features. But DHCP server IP pool can't be class B is huge limitation to me.

I have ASA5505 as my main router (192.168.15.1) and it currently it also serves as DHCP server. 1. Make ASA5505 to do the MAC reservation f, which will be easy setup for me. But as per my search its not possible.
2. Disable dhcp on ASA and enable dhcp on my WNDR3700. i tired this and dhcp clients are getting IP from wndr3700, but the problem is dhcp clients gateway defaults to 192.168.15.2 (as well as dns) and therefore no internet connection.
Can you confirm that if I want to disable temporarily a dhcp pool on a 4500, I need just to shutdown the interface VLAN corresponding to a specific dhcp pool?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a BEFSR41v2 and have since upgraded to a wireless router. I now need a hub and have read that I can disable the DHCP in the BEFSR41 and use it as a hub. If I understand what I've read, I hook the cable running from my current wireless router into the uplink port on the BEFSR41 and then have the 4 ports available for expansion without using the WAN port - does this sound correct? Also - should I have the router (now configured as a hub) set to obtain the IP address automatically, set a static IP address or what? Finally - the firmware is the original firmware 1.42.7 (April 2, 2002) and I've read where people have problems after updating the firmware.

We have a Cisco WRVS4400N Wireless Router with 2 VLANS. VLAN 1 goes to a Watchguard Firebox which is connected to our internal network. VLAN 2 goues to our classroom network.
Our database is on VLAN 1. I have opened port 1433 on the Watchguard to allow SQL traffic from our Web Server. I can telnet from my workstation on VLAN 1 to the Web Server over port 1433, so I know the Web Server is not blocking anything. When I try to telnet from the Web Server to our Public IP address over port 1433, it fails.
I believe I have the firewall on the Cisco WRVS4400N off, so it shouldn't be blocking any traffic, but for the life of me I can't get this to work. I have been working on this for two days, and I NEED it to work. This was working up until last week, then it quit working. I am the only person making changes to our network, and there were no changes made during that time.
