Cisco Routers :: Cannot Connect To WRVS4400N Using Quick VPN Client
Oct 6, 2011 Quick VPN and have not had any success connecting with our router. Below is my components info. Cisco router: WRVS4400N, Firmware V2.0.0.7. The router is behind a Comcast SMC business gateway modem Remote computer: Window 7 Ultimate 64 bit
I downloaded the Quick VPN client 1.4.2.1, and installed the client successfully but cannot connect using the VPN Client Account that I had set up in the router. Below are several questions that I hope to understand.
1) Do I need to configure specific ports for VPN in the Comcast gateway firewall?
2) What IP address do I put in the Quick VPN client profile when I connect remotely? The WRVS4400N modem shows 2 IP addresses in the Status:
DNS1: 68.xx.xx.176
DNS2: 68.xx.xx.132
Are these the IP that go into the "Server Address" on the Quick VPN client profile? and which one of the two? or do I use the static WAN IP address provided by my Comcast account?
3) In the Quick VPN client window, what is the "Use Remote DNS Server" mean?
4) Do I need to create a client certificate from the WRVS4400N for the client
5) Is there any setup needed for the remote firewall (if the client is behind a home wireless router and modem, for example)?

Apr 7, 2013Apple AirPlay won't work on AppleTV (from neither computer nor iPhone) with my new Cisco small busines router WRVS4400N. It was working just fine on old consumer level linksys router. I have spent 3 hours with Apple support to no avail. Apple TV works fine on internet functions (netflix, YouTube, etc.) and I can play music and videos from the cloud, but iPhone and computer can't connect to AppleTV even though the icons appear in iPhone and Computer... just can't establish a connection.

Jul 18, 2012I recently purchased a WRVS4400N security router and have got a strange problem with it. I set it up as my main router and connected two computers (a desktop and a server) using DHCP. They both work fine, internet is as fast as it should be, no problems whatsoever. However, when I setup the Wifi SSID (whatever security options I use, same with open/wpa/wpa2) and connect my laptop to it. It is allocated a IP address and windows even says that there is an internet connection. As soon as I try to do anything though, I am dropped. Try to ping an outside server, failure and dropped. Open IE, failure and dropped. I cannot even access my local server connected by wire to the router.If I connect the laptop via a cable to the router everything works, and it continues to work when I unplug it. So this means that right now I walk over to the router and plug my laptop in for 3 seconds before I unplug it and then use the wifi for a couple of hours without any problem. But as soon as I try to turn on my wireless Logitech SqueezeBox or wireless printer, they fail and take my laptop with it..
I have:reset the router, used both firmware 2.0.2.1 and 2.0.1.3 and done a factory reset.Tried to move the router close to the laptop, no difference.

Nov 26, 2011I just bought a WRVS4400N last week to replace my existing LinkSys WRH54G. To my disappointment, I now have a problem that this router halts everytime any eMule/P2P client is connected for more than 15~30 minutes, no matter the uPNP is enabled or not, When it halts, the only thing to get it work is to unplug its power cable then back on. So, I then upgraded its firmware from 2.0.1.3 to 2.0.2.1, but the problem still persists. However, the truth is that this problem never happened on my WRH54G

Jan 28, 2013RV042 router is giving out the outer certificate instead of server certificate. Outlook anywhere is failing and we are receiving certificate errors for any secure site behind this firewall. I'm not talking about remote management. I'm talking about people trying to access our web site, which is secured, and getting an error because the RV042 is giving its own SSL certificate instead of the Server's certificate. Firmware Version: 1.3.13.02-tm. I don't see any updates for that hardware. I do have it working on an RV042 with the same firmware at a different location. Nov 28, 2012Just installed RV042 router. And it's giving out router certificate instead of server certificate so people who are trying to access our secured server are getting errors. I'm not talking about remote management. I'm talking about people trying to access our web site, which is secured, and getting an error because the RV042 is giving its own SSL certificate instead of the Server's certificate. How do we turn that off or keep it from happenning?

Mar 10, 2012When clients connect wirelessly to the WRVS4400N they successfully get a DHCP address from the Windows 2008 server. After they have the address they can no longer access the server. It cannot be pinged, no drives can be mapped and internet access fails because the same server is running DNS. The WRVS4400N is setup for DCHP relay to the server. Wired clients do not have this problem. Wireless clients that connect to a secondary WAP on the same LAN also do not experience this problem. I have updated the router to the latest firmware version, reset it to factory defaults and reconfigured from scratch. Turning the server firewall off has not made any difference either. I have been able to bypass the internet problem by adding a second external DNS server in the DHCP scope options.

May 7, 2012I bought a new WRVS400n recently because it had Gigabit speed, wireless n and a built in VPN server. The device works perfect except for the Quick VPN client. I'm a system engineer so I thought I could set it up quite easy just like any other device I configured in the past. Painfull but it isn't like this.
I set up the VPN on the WRVS4400n and generated a certificate. I saved both the client and admin certificate to my pc, I gave them a name to easily make up the difference between both of them. When placing the certificate in the installed QuickVPN folder, it doesn't seem to get recognised by the QuickVPN software. When I try to connect, it says 'Server's certificate doens't exist on your local computer'. I guess the naming convention must meet some kind of format, is that correct? If so, this should have been described in the documentation.
Besides that I checked if the required ports used by the VPN server are open on the public port of the device, that is the case. So It seems I'm quite close to get it working.
The version of QuickVPN I used is 1.4.2.1. The WRVS4400n has the latest firmware loaded.

Jun 3, 2012In my test lab I can't to make work my webvpn configuration = I have several components: MS AD, MS CS (but without NDES), router 2911 and client computer. Client and router have a certificate from MS CS. In my configuration I use authentication by certificate or aaa (LDAP) and authentication by aaa working good. But authentication by client certificate doesn't work. And my internal https services don't work also - "Invalid or no certificate", but this strange because I imported CA certificate for this.
My 2911 version: Cisco IOS Software, C2900 Software (C2900-UNIVERSALK9-M), Version 15.1(3)T, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)

Sep 20, 2011ASA 5510 configuration for Csco anyconnect vpn client. Currently ASA is configured for self-signed certificate acces thru anyconnect ssl vpn. So the cert is being generated with every connection (of my understanding, I haven't found any identity certificate on the current configuration, at least on ASDM). Now I need to use a certificate from our local windows CA that we have at the office. I.e. self-signed certs should be changed with another one issued by our local office authority.
1. Generated new rsa key pair on the ASA
2. Generated CSR from identity certificates
3. Applied CSR to the windows CA and generated the certificate
Now I need to understand what is going to happen after I install this certificate on the ASA's identity certificates and apply it to outside interface. Is there anything to be done on the users side to use new certificate? Do they need to download and install the root certificate from the same CA? Do i need to have the root certificate installed on the ASA or identity is enough?

Sep 11, 2011I need some clarification with configuring my ASA 5540 with IOS 8.3x for remote client certificate authentication.
I have my root certificate from the Microsoft CA but not quite sure if the outlined steps in the Cisco websites below are exactly what I need since the firewall seems to be generating the certificate to be used. [URL].
My setup is such that the CA will issue certificates to the remote clients and to the ASA firewall, and the remote clients will authenticate and connect with their certificates which the firewall constantly updates using the CRL update from the CA. The dhcp pool is to be issued by the domain controller on the inside network and not on the firewall. Any examples or best practice steps to achieve this.

Jan 14, 2012I bought a router Cisco WRVS4400N Wireless-N Gigabit Security Router - VPN v2.0 with the intention of using with the Quick VPN Client for connecting to my home network.
My home network is connected to a pre provide by my ISP Thomson TG784 and is connected to it but all my main network is controlled by the WRVS4400N, I have forward all the doors, as you can see by the log part below, and by analyzing the log you can see that I can't get any PING to complete the VPN connection.

Cisco VPN :: 3825 - VPN Client Is Giving Error And Unable To Create Certificate Enrollment Request
Feb 21, 2011We find ourselves in a difficult situation with the Cisco VPN Client version 5.0.07.0290 where it keeps giving us an
"Error 42: Unable to create certificate enrollment request"
When we attempt to use the Online enrollment method to create and enroll a new certificate. There is no additional information in the VPN client logs where we have set 3-High for all logs. In addition, Wire shark does not show any packets sent from the machine running the client to the Cisco 3825 router which runs the Cisco CA.
To create and enroll a certificate we do the following:
1. Click on the Enroll button to show the Certificate Enrollment dialog
2. Select Online
3. Select <New> for Certificate Authority
4. Enter http://192.168.120.1 as CA URL (note, 192.168.120.1 is the IP of the Cisco 3825)
5. Click Next to display the dialog where we can enter certificate details
6. Enter details in all fields except IP Address and Domain
7. Click Enroll which shows a dialog with the Error 42 ... message in it.
If we attempt to create a request by using the File method, all works fine, that is, the client creates a file with the enrollment request. The fact that the client does not send any messages to the Cisco CA leads us to believe that we have a problem on the client machine. However, the client does not write any information in the logs, so it is a bit hard to fix the problem. I can provide additional configuration information if required for both the client and the Cisco CA. Note that we have not modified any client configuration. Basically, we installed the client on a Windows 7 64bit machine and attempted the steps listed above.
Linksys Wireless Router :: WRVS4400N Setup - How To Get WDS To Work
Aug 29, 2011I have a WRVS4400N setup as a main router for one of our bays. For wired connections it is working with no problems. When I first installed it it ran fine for wireless as well. I was trying to get WDS to work and at some point the wireless stopped working. My laptop can no longer connect to it and often cannot see it when doing a scan for networks. I have already checked that it isn't a problem with the laptop, that there are not other networks causing interferance, and even tried resetting to default configs.
