Cisco VPN :: WRVS4400N Wireless-N Gigabit Router Setup To Use AnyConnect?

Oct 23, 2011

i bought this router because I wanted a gigabit router for my small business and I figured whats better than a small business router? Well, one think I used pretty heavily on my Linksys WRG54GS was a simple port forward to my XP box for VPN. I know nothing about how to currectly set up VPN in this router. Does this router have a built in VPN server? Also, is there anyway to completely disable everything VPN side on this router and simply forward my port 1723 to my computer again? I am using this in conjunction with my android phone. I downloaded the AnnyConnect software, but yielded zero success. I have a working tun.ko installed on my rooted android phone, but this all is completely too much work for something that worked very well before using simple port forwarding and the built in vpn client on the phone. How can I correctly set up my router for the VPN to use with the AnnyConnect application I have on my cell phone?

Cisco VPN :: Getting QuickVPN Connection On WRVS4400N?

Oct 22, 2011

Hardware: WRVS4400N on Firmware version: V2.0.2.1-ETSI
Quick VPN Version 1.4.2.1 on Windows7 Ultimate 64bit.
QuickVPN Client stopps with: Verifying Network.... and "The remote gateway is not responding. Do you want to wait? Yes / No"

Here we go with the log:

Additional I can ping to dirkle.dyndns.org as well as accessing to the WRVS4400N [URL] The connection map is as following:

Client --> PPPoE DSL Router --> (...INTERNET...) --> NetvigatorGateway ---> WRVS4400N --> HomeNetwork

The NetvigatorGateway is locatet at my home and also distributing IP-TV. For internet it netvigator gateway is set DMZ to WRVS4400N (network 192.168.1.xxx); the WAN IP is assigned to the WRVS4400N and same as on dirkle.dyndns.org. When I connect myself into the netvigator gateway, (network 192.168.8.xxx) i can successfully establish a VPN connection with QuickVPN to the WRVS4400N.But then, what reason ever, I cannot access to 192.168.1.xxx network devices. QuickVPN does not allow me to see the assigned IP as well. This is my issue 2: After the connection is "successfully" established, it does not feel as I am part of the home network....Issue 3 would be: In the company we use CiscoAnyConnect VPN client (Verison 2.4.0202). Is it possible in using this client instead in any later firmware revision?

Cisco VPN :: WRVS4400N Trying To Setup VPN With QuickVPN

Sep 27, 2011

I am trying to setup VPN with WRVS4400N and Quick VPN on client side. I am fairly new to VPN and did some research and looked through the manual but can't seem to get it to work so far and from what I noticed many people are having this problem.

Basically it gives the "Failed to establish connection" generic error, shows it almost instantly. It also showed the certificate error before but then I read about putting it in the installation directory and it stopped showing it, and whats strange is later I removed it but it doesnt show the error any longer, so don't know if its caching it somewhere or what can be going on...

In effort to look for answer and test things out I tried to connect to another location and setup a WRV200 router, I also get the same error but not instantly, it even shows "Activating Policy" but then doesn't go farther and shows the generic error. Also with this setup strangly it always shows the certificate error, no matter if I put one in directory or not... Even tried to name it as the WRVS4400N certificate name...

Anyway VPN IPSec is disabled, and Client Accounts are configured and changed password several times to make sure its correct, VPN Passthrough enabled on all 3 options. I tried to disable Windows Router, I also have a router in place do I possibly need to open some type of ports for the QuickVPN client?

Cisco VPN :: SA520W Router - How To Setup QuickVPN Client

Mar 26, 2011

I have a Cisco SA520W router and needs to set up VPN. Du to major problems with the SSL VPN Client and windows 7, I had to let it go and try a different approach.

That was the QuickVPN client, but as it turs out, it simply impossible from reading the user manual to understand just how I have to set thing up. For instance, the VPN Wizard tells you to enter a preshared key. But in the QuickVPN Client, where do I enter the key?

And shall the "Enable Cisco VPN Client" be ticket off, I assumed yes, but seriously it is impossible to know.

Then in the VPN Wizard again, in the Remote & Local WAN Adress, what shall use FQDN or IP Address. The if FQDN, what shall a enter, the domain name for the router, whats the point in that? The domain name of the VPN Client, seriously, what's the point in that? I would assume that 99% of the VPN Client does NOT have a domain name. Then, if IP address, am I supposed to know the IP address of the client? Same with the "Secure Connection Remote Accessibility", what am I supposed to enter. The IP address which the Quick VPN Client network adapter shall have?

Cisco Routers :: Quickvpn / Client To Gateway Vpn Rv042 Can Only Ping Router?

Jan 27, 2012

I am setting up remote access using an RV042 router.  Using quickvpn or a client-to gateway vpn and shrewsoft client,  I can only access/ping the LAN side of the remote router and one machine on the remote network.  The PPTP server and native Windows 7 connection provide access to all machines on the remote network.I have 2 possible reasons for this and would like to find the real reason:

1) The remote RV042 is behind another router, and that router restricts access other than the PPTP traffic.

2)  The VPN tunnels other than PPTP only allow access to the remote LAN side of the router and remote machines that have the remote router defined as their gateway in the IP configuration.

Cisco Routers :: WRVS4400N And QuickVPN - Ping Test Fails Sometimes / Not Others?

Oct 23, 2009

I have a new WRVS4400N VPN router and have set it up for VPN.  On a separate computer I have a Verizon EVDO card so I have used that with a separate computer to access the internet on a public, routable IP address off of my network.

When I use the QuickVPN client, I wasn't able to get into my network (using ddyns.org) because I didn't have the "BLOCK WAN REQUEST" setting disabled so the router could be ping'd.  Once I did that, I verified I could successfuly ping my ddyns name abc.xyz.com.

In the error log of the QuickVPN client, I still see:

2009/10/24 16:57:15 [STATUS]OS Version: Windows XP2009/10/24 16:57:16 [STATUS]Windows Firewall is OFF2009/10/24 16:57:16 [STATUS]One network interface detected with IP address x.x.x.x2009/10/24 16:57:16 [STATUS]Connecting...2009/10/24 16:57:16 [STATUS]Connecting to remote gateway with IP address:x.x.x2009/10/24 16:57:28 [WARNING]Remote gateway wasn't reached...2009/10/24 16:57:36 [STATUS]Remote gateway was reached by https ...2009/10/24 16:57:36 [STATUS]Provisioning...2009/10/24 16:57:47 [STATUS]Tunnel is configured. [code]....

I HAVE been able to make the connection successfully without any other changes to the environment.  It's hit or miss, but usually a miss.  Restarting QuickVPN sometimes works on the next try, but then fails if I disconnect and try again.  Even when that ping error message is appearing, I am able to ping the host name at a command prompt without a problem.

Is something else on the router possibly blocking the ping requests? My router is behind a Westell F90 6100 DSL modem operating in bridge mode.  The 4400 is obtaining the WAN address from Verizon(DSL) and that is also where I have my PPOE info entered to obtain the internet connection.

Cisco Routers :: WRVS4400N Wireless Client Has No Internet Access

Jul 18, 2012

I recently purchased a WRVS4400N security router and have got a strange problem with it. I set it up as my main router and connected two computers (a desktop and a server) using DHCP. They both work fine, internet is as fast as it should be, no problems whatsoever. However, when I setup the Wifi SSID (whatever security options I use, same with open/wpa/wpa2) and connect my laptop to it. It is allocated a IP address and windows even says that there is an internet connection. As soon as I try to do anything though, I am dropped. Try to ping an outside server, failure and dropped. Open IE, failure and dropped. I cannot even access my local server connected by wire to the router. If I connect the laptop via a cable to the router everything works, and it continues to work when I unplug it. So this means that right now I walk over to the router and plug my laptop in for 3 seconds before I unplug it and then use the wifi for a couple of hours without any problem. But as soon as I try to turn on my wireless Logitech SqueezeBox or wireless printer, they fail and take my laptop with it..

I have:reset the router, used both firmware 2.0.2.1 and 2.0.1.3 and done a factory reset.Tried to move the router close to the laptop, no difference.

Cisco Routers :: Cannot Connect To WRVS4400N Using Quick VPN Client

Oct 6, 2011

Quick VPN and have not had any success connecting with our router.  Below is my components info. Cisco router:   WRVS4400N, Firmware V2.0.0.7.  The router is behind a Comcast SMC business gateway modem Remote computer:  Window 7 Ultimate 64 bit

I downloaded the Quick VPN client 1.4.2.1, and installed the client successfully but cannot connect using the VPN Client Account that I had set up in the router.  Below are several questions that I hope to understand.

1) Do I need to configure specific ports for VPN in the Comcast gateway firewall?

2) What IP address do I put in the Quick VPN client profile when I connect remotely?  The WRVS4400N modem shows 2 IP addresses in the Status:

DNS1:  68.xx.xx.176
DNS2:  68.xx.xx.132

Are these the IP that go into the "Server Address" on the Quick VPN client profile? and which one of the two?   or do I use the static WAN IP address provided by my Comcast account?

3) In the Quick VPN client window, what is the "Use Remote DNS Server" mean?

4) Do I need to create a client certificate from the WRVS4400N for the client

5) Is there any setup needed for the remote firewall (if the client is behind a home wireless router and modem, for example)?

Cisco Wireless :: WRVS 4400N Router QuickVPN And Windows 7?

Jan 6, 2010

I just bought this router (4400N) at a retail store for $239.00 with a ship date of 12/2009 and the QuickVpn client will NOT work with Windows 7. Furthermore, I do not see any
signs of Cisco fixing this.I would be happy if I could use the pptp and the MS Clients. There is no pptp option in the 4400N. All I can do is port forward to my MS server. This does work, but then I cant vpn out....Unfortunately, I will have to return this router for a "STORE CREDIT" . This product should be removed from the shelves and recalled until the client works with Vista and Windows 7 in any way or fashion.Yes, I did install the 1.3 version and I even tried it in compatibility mode for XP?

E3200 - Gigabit Ethernet Wireless Router With DD-WRT?

Feb 1, 2012

There's nothing *wrong* with it, but I am interested in something that either comes preinstalled with DD-WRT, or is well supported (ie easy to install on) by DD-WRT. I plan on selling the E3200 once I find something to replace it.

My requirements:
-Gigabit
-5 GHz (I have a file server/HTPC; I don't want to be limited to gigabit ethernet)
-$150 or less (I know $150 is high, but I figure I'll get close to that for the E3200)
