Cisco VPN :: SA520W Router - How To Setup QuickVPN Client

Mar 26, 2011

I have a Cisco SA520W router and needs to set up VPN. Du to major problems with the SSL VPN Client and windows 7, I had to let it go and try a different approach.

That was the QuickVPN client, but as it turs out, it simply impossible from reading the user manual to understand just how I have to set thing up. For instance, the VPN Wizard tells you to enter a preshared key. But in the QuickVPN Client, where do I enter the key?

And shall the "Enable Cisco VPN Client" be ticket off, I assumed yes, but seriously it is impossible to know.

Then in the VPN Wizard again, in the Remote & Local WAN Adress, what shall use FQDN or IP Address. The if FQDN, what shall a enter, the domain name for the router, whats the point in that? The domain name of the VPN Client, seriously, what's the point in that? I would assume that 99% of the VPN Client does NOT have a domain name. Then, if IP address, am I supposed to know the IP address of the client? Same with the "Secure Connection Remote Accessibility", what am I supposed to enter. The IP address which the Quick VPN Client network adapter shall have?

Cisco Routers :: Quickvpn / Client To Gateway Vpn Rv042 Can Only Ping Router?

Jan 27, 2012

I am setting up remote access using an RV042 router.  Using quickvpn or a client-to gateway vpn and shrewsoft client,  I can only access/ping the LAN side of the remote router and one machine on the remote network.  The PPTP server and native Windows 7 connection provide access to all machines on the remote network.I have 2 possible reasons for this and would like to find the real reason:

1) The remote RV042 is behind another router, and that router restricts access other than the PPTP traffic.

2)  The VPN tunnels other than PPTP only allow access to the remote LAN side of the router and remote machines that have the remote router defined as their gateway in the IP configuration.

Is there a way to set up Quick VPN on the RV120W without changing the internal subnet? I have just taken over responsibility for a network and I don't know all of the nooks and crannies yet, so I'd rather not change the internal sub net. I've tried setting up a user then changing the LAN settings afterward, but it automatically removed the VPN user when I did so.

Cisco VPN :: WRVS4400N Trying To Setup VPN With QuickVPN

Sep 27, 2011

I am trying to setup VPN with WRVS4400N and Quick VPN on client side. I am fairly new to VPN and did some research and looked through the manual but can't seem to get it to work so far and from what I noticed many people are having this problem.

Basically it gives the "Failed to establish connection" generic error, shows it almost instantly. It also showed the certificate error before but then I read about putting it in the installation directory and it stopped showing it, and whats strange is later I removed it but it doesnt show the error any longer, so don't know if its caching it somewhere or what can be going on...

In effort to look for answer and test things out I tried to connect to another location and setup a WRV200 router, I also get the same error but not instantly, it even shows "Activating Policy" but then doesn't go farther and shows the generic error. Also with this setup strangly it always shows the certificate error, no matter if I put one in directory or not... Even tried to name it as the WRVS4400N certificate name...

Anyway VPN IPSec is disabled, and Client Accounts are configured and changed password several times to make sure its correct, VPN Passthrough enabled on all 3 options. I tried to disable Windows Router, I also have a router in place do I possibly need to open some type of ports for the QuickVPN client?

Cisco Routers :: Setup QuickVPN To RVS4000 With Windows 7 (64bit)?

Sep 13, 2011

I have a home network with an Actiontec Q1000 providing me 20 meg down and 5 meg up speeds.  The DSL modem supports DHCP, DMZ, port forwarding, application forwarding, filtering, etc.  I have an existing network 192.168.0.x that uses a combination of DHCP and static IP addresses for printers, scanners, and servers.I just purchased a RVS4000 and configured its LAN port to accept a DHCP address.  It received the .26 address.  I set up application and port forwarding so all VPN traffic goes to this address.  I also put the router in the DMZ and turned off all firewalls. On the LAN side of the RVS4000 I use the 192.168.1.x address and have the 4000 provide DHCP addresses.  I have a PC connected to the LAN port and it has the address of 1.100.  I am able to use TeamViewer to connect to this through the internet and I can also access the devices on the Actiontec network from the PC connected to the 4000.I set up the VPN as best I could while going through appendix B of the admin guide.  When I am at a remote location and use the QuickVPN client to access the 4000 I get the message, "The remote gateway is not responding.  Do you want to wait?'.  When I look at the log everything looks good except I get the following error:

[WARNING]Failed to ping remote VPN Router!

I am unable to get a DHCP address for my remote PC and am unable to ping any device on either network.  What do I have configured wrong that this is not working?I only purchased this so I can use the VPN.  Is the VPN established on the Actiontec LAN or on the RVS4000 LAN side?  I am obviously connecting to the 4000 but am just not getting an address so I can not use my home office network for all my communications.

Cisco VPN :: RVS4000 Router VLAN Using QuickVPN?

Apr 18, 2010

I'm trying to connect through a VPN to RVS4000 router that I have VLAN'ed into two seperate networks 192.168.1.x (default) and 192.168.77.x. When i connect with the QuickVPN Client, I have no problems seeing devices on the 192.168.1.x network but i can't see the 192.168.77.x devices; so i'm assuming that the QuickVPN client software puts me on the default network and not the "77" network. Thing is, i only want to VPN into the "77" network and not the 192.168.1.x network.

Will QuickVPN allow me to do this? If not how do I VPN into the 192.168.77.x network?

Setup A 40+ Client Network?

Mar 15, 2011

We currently have a company network set up with a PC acting as a shared resource containing shared folders for everyone to access (approx 30 users)The network is comprised of a business internet connection to a 5 port router which is then connected to a 5 port switch connecting to 4 computers and another switch which is connected to another 4 computers and again to another switch - this continues for approx 30 - 35 computers. We have 2 shipping databases connected to the first switch (2 of the for first computers mentioned) and about 15 of the 30 clients need to access these. Because there is this many people on the network we are running really slow and losing access to the databases/shared files on the network. We do not have the expertise or time/money to set up a true server/client network. We are moving to a bigger building and potentially hiring 10-20 more people. We are thinking about having a small (5port router) and branching it off to 2 24 port gigabit switches and the business folder and having one switch contain the 2 databases and all the users who need to access it and the other switch containing all the other users.

Mar 27, 2011

I've the following scenario VPN Concentrator is connected to a router which is connected to a router and at the edge Cisco 515E PIX is connected to the internet. The problem is that the normal VPN Dial-up connection (a utility of windows) are getting connected but Cisco VPN Client throws error 412. Here's what I've tried (Initially groups and user were created):

(1) Allowed port 10000 on PIX ( access-list from-outside-coming-in permit tcp any host <public ip> eq 10000) and checked IPSec over UDP on VPN Conc. under Mode Config tab. Also checked IPSec over TCP tab under tunneling panel at port 10000. Tried connecting through VPN Client but it threw error 412
(2) In the reference guide, I read that IPSec over NAT is allowed on ports ranging from 4000 something to 40000 something.

I tried 33333, both on PIX and VPN Conc. under Mode Config tab but still no use. Same error 412.

Cisco Wireless :: 5508 Client Gateway Setup

Dec 1, 2012

I've just installed a standard Cisco wireless install (5508, 3502i, local and flexconnect setups) all working swimmingly.

The customer has asked for a new WLAN for a particular group of staff that will route to a different gateway than the general wireless staff.

The 5508 is connected to a older Avaya L3 switch that is the customers core swtich, but it isn't capable of PBR so it routes on desitnation only and its default route is not where I need the new WLAN traffic to route to. An ASA will be connected to the Avaya switch (which is the alternate gateway I need to get the new WLAN users to). So my question is probably routing 101, but if the ASA interface, the Avaya swtich and the WLAN interface all reside in the same VLAN, can I give the wireless clients the ASA as their gateway via DHCP and successfully get their traffic to the ASA?

Cisco Wireless :: WRVS 4400N Router QuickVPN And Windows 7?

signs of Cisco fixing this.I would be happy if I could use the pptp and the MS Clients. There is no pptp option in the 4400N. All I can do is port forward to my MS server. This does work, but then I cant vpn out....Unfortunately, I will have to return this router for a "STORE CREDIT" . This product should be removed from the shelves and recalled until the client works with Vista and Windows 7 in any way or fashion.Yes, I did install the 1.3 version and I even tried it in compatibility mode for XP?
