Looking for a working Cisco VPN client for Windows 7. There seems to be an availabel download for a ver 5, but you have to be a reseller etc.. Where do I download the Windows 7 supported VPN client to access my WRVS4400N router? If none, should I use 3rd party - IF yes to 3rd party, which one would you suggest?

I downloaded the Quick VPN client 1.4.2.1, and installed the client successfully but cannot connect using the VPN Client Account that I had set up in the router. Below are several questions that I hope to understand.
1) Do I need to configure specific ports for VPN in the Comcast gateway firewall?
2) What IP address do I put in the Quick VPN client profile when I connect remotely? The WRVS4400N modem shows 2 IP addresses in the Status:
DNS1: 68.xx.xx.176
DNS2: 68.xx.xx.132
Are these the IP that go into the "Server Address" on the Quick VPN client profile? and which one of the two? or do I use the static WAN IP address provided by my Comcast account?
3) In the Quick VPN client window, what is the "Use Remote DNS Server" mean?
4) Do I need to create a client certificate from the WRVS4400N for the client
5) Is there any setup needed for the remote firewall (if the client is behind a home wireless router and modem, for example)?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased a WRVS4400N security router and have got a strange problem with it. I set it up as my main router and connected two computers (a desktop and a server) using DHCP. They both work fine, internet is as fast as it should be, no problems whatsoever. However, when I setup the Wifi SSID (whatever security options I use, same with open/wpa/wpa2) and connect my laptop to it. It is allocated a IP address and windows even says that there is an internet connection. As soon as I try to do anything though, I am dropped. Try to ping an outside server, failure and dropped. Open IE, failure and dropped. I cannot even access my local server connected by wire to the router.If I connect the laptop via a cable to the router everything works, and it continues to work when I unplug it. So this means that right now I walk over to the router and plug my laptop in for 3 seconds before I unplug it and then use the wifi for a couple of hours without any problem. But as soon as I try to turn on my wireless Logitech SqueezeBox or wireless printer, they fail and take my laptop with it..
I have:reset the router, used both firmware 2.0.2.1 and 2.0.1.3 and done a factory reset.Tried to move the router close to the laptop, no difference.
I just bought a WRVS4400N last week to replace my existing LinkSys WRH54G. To my disappointment, I now have a problem that this router halts everytime any eMule/P2P client is connected for more than 15~30 minutes, no matter the uPNP is enabled or not, When it halts, the only thing to get it work is to unplug its power cable then back on. So, I then upgraded its firmware from 2.0.1.3 to 2.0.2.1, but the problem still persists. However, the truth is that this problem never happened on my WRH54G

View 3 Replies View RelatedI need to access a shared folder over a VPN connection. Very simple host network: no Microsoft server, no AD. Just a WRVS4400N router and a peer-to-peer network.
Purchased a second WRVS4400N router to create VPN from SOHO and configured via VPN Setup Wizard.
When at the office, I can map a drive letter to a share on the other computer, as follows
net use f: \192.168.1.111MyShare /User:MYSELF mypass
However, when try same command over VPN, I receive the response:
System error 53 has occurred. The network path was not found.
I also cannot net view the other computer -- same error. However, I can successfully ping 192.168.1.111.

Routers have latest firmware.
Over VPN I cannot browse network via Windows Explorer (Win7 Network Neighborhood shows only my own PC. In the office I can see the other computer and the NAS appliance "NAS01").
I also cannot connect by entering \192.168.1.111MyShare into Windows Explorer's address bar (although I can do that successfully when at the office), or by choosing Map Network Drive from "Computer".
However, over VPN, I can get into NAS administration via https://192.168.1.3 and I can print to the office TCPIP printer (192.168.1.222)
I use RDP extensively on my LAN to use and manage 4 PCs running Win XP or Win7. My consumer-grade Cisco Linksys WRT610n crapped out after less than 2 years, so I thought I'd try the Cisco WRVS4400N to gain extra features like VPN. I have not enabled anything new on the router except for adding a second wireless SSID for guest use, although no bandwidth management or VLANs have been set up yet. Firmware version is 2.0.0.8.Since installing this router I have been unable to use Windows RDP on ANY of my computers on the LAN, whether I use the machine name or the IP address. I can ping every device on my network - print servers, NAS boxes, PCs, but no RDP. WHAT'S GOING ON?

The function works great with my iPhone as a client, but I've been unable to make a connection from my Windows 7 laptop, as the built in VPN configuration doesn't have anywhere to put the group name.

However, after 1 to 5 minutes I see the Windows 7 bluescreen indicating that the system has halted due to a problem with a driver. I have installed the latest Windows updates and reinstalled the client.
The bluescreen only occurs if I use the Cisco QuickVPN Client.
I just got my first WRVS4400N v2.Nothing has changed, the definition of small business means there are USUALLY one office, and several people runs around thus the need of a VPN server sitting at the home office Router. I think most of us small business operators had wished for a connection away from office, NO REMOTE GROUPS, just clients on phone, or laptop. Using this connection to get to some files which isn't sitting in the cloud, or perhaps using it to hop over firewall restrictions that some overseas countries had imposed.
What you should have is a setting for Stand-alone VPN server, NOT Router to Router.. What you should have is feature that generates the various psk for different platforms. What you should have is made things simple, instead of these magicabbage which goes no where for the small businesses.Through out this thread the original poster is presenting the same problem, he and I don't have a Remote Group router to enter an IP address, tell us to use the QuikVPN client DON'T work, the Server isn't UP to begin with!Moreover, the VPN client installer on the this new v2 runs only in Win 2000 or XP??? My home network is connected to a pre provide by my ISP Thomson TG784 and is connected to it but all my main network is controlled by the WRVS4400N, I have forward all the doors, as you can see by the log part below, and by analyzing the log you can see that I can't get any PING to complete the VPN connection.

I have a WRVS4400N router & am using Quick VPN to connect to the Router. I can able connect through Window XP Machine, but not able to connect through Window Vista & 7. Whenever I try to connect through Window 7, I got this message: The remote gateway is not responding. Right now the Cisco router is behind DSL modem and I can't change the DSL modem to bridge mode as my ISP told me that we can't change DSL modem to bridge mode. what I have to do to connect to the router through Windows 7 & Vista.

It uses the 4400n's vlan IP as the default route. What I'm trying to ultimately achieve is to configure the 4400n as an access point for our "private" network on vlan1 and also "guest" access to the internet on vlan2.

The office is connected to the outside world through a MODEM (Sagemcom 2864 Connection Hub). This MODEM is also a wireless router. It's DHCP server provides addresses 192.168.2.x.The WRVS4400N's WAN port is connected to one of the LAN ports on the MODEM. It's IP address from the MODEM is 192.168.2.x. The WRVS4400N provides addresses 192.168.21.x to devices connected to it.We have a DynDNS account and are using the DDNS client on the WRVS4400N router to connect to it.At home, we have a DIR-655 router with IP Sec Passthru enabled. The router provides IP addresses 192.168.1.x for all devices connected to it. I am fairly sure there are no issues with the router setup at home since I am able to VPN into the office of my full-time job without any problems. The router is sat behind another router/modem (Belkin) as the UK uses PPPoA and the WRVS4400n doesn't.So I set up DMZ and changed the DHCP to always allocate 10.x.x.2 on the Belkin which is the WAN side for the WRVS4400n as it is the only thing attached.I have now noticed, and I'm not sure whether it was the case before, that the DNS that the WRVS4400 is showing is the LAN address for the Belkin Modem/Router (10.x.x.1), not 192.x.x.1 for the WRVS4400n itself. I assumed setting the Static DNS 1 on the WRVS4400n would do it, but it didn't?When I connect into the network with QuickVPN, the computer names do not show even though I have selected the option in QuickVPN?

View 1 Replies View RelatedRecently installed a WRVS4400N router on my home network. Prior to that I was using the wireless built into my FIOS router. I wanted something more secure so I went with the WRVS4400N. I turned off the FIOS wireless and am only using the cisco wireless.
Im having intermittent issues with the wireless. I have many things hooked up to my wireless including a HP printer and a Sonos system. Most of the time if I just open my ipad I cannot see anything else on my network including the printer. If I try to see the Sonos system can cannot, sometimes I can open the app on my iphone and then I can see it.
Sometimes I can see the printer and sometimes I cant. Sometimes when I do see it and then print to it, it will be gone before it even prints.
I don’t seem to have any issues thru the LAN connections.
Also, ive noticed that the wifi is much slower than the old FIOS box.
FYI, when I remove the cisco and fire back up the FIOS wifi I don’t have any problems at all at any time. And its much faster.
I have tried channel 6, 11 and auto. Also turned off IPC and still no change.
I have a gateway to gateway vpn (home-office) working fine for almost an year btw 2 wrvs4400n routers, This morning, the VPN tunnel was down. I clicked "Connect" from the web based interface, but it does not reconnect.
I tried setting up a new tunnel using the VPN setup wizard, but it says it can't connect to the remote router. Which is strange, since I can ping there normally.
I'm having a heck of a time connecting the WRVS4400N VPN to another WRVS4400N VPN. both of the routers have the current firmware version V2.0.2.1: Router 1 is below, and router 2 has the matching configuration with as it should be the local group being that routers local information and the remote crew set up being router ones information. the status is up on both of the routers, but I'm unable to ping the remote gateway or any device behind it.[code]

This is a new device, just initially installed about a week ago. I updated to the latest firmware. We have iphones, ipads, and Samsung Galaxy smartphones all trying to connect to this WAP at this office, but cannot seem to connect. If I power cycle the WAP, we can connect for about 5 min, then it loses it and cannot connect again. I have strong signal, device says "connecting" then immediately "disconnected"... does this on loop forever.WPA/WPA2 PSK.I don't know what to do. About to go buy an Apple WAP.
