I try to connect to RV220W with windows 7 client but I fail : error 789. I compare again and again pre shared key, but it doesn't change anything. How to connect to RV220W with IPsec client ?

Is it possible to configure the RV180W VPN to use IPsec and connect to that VPN using the built in windows vpn client in Windows 7 and 8?I have been testing this but I have not been able to get it to work. What are the settings on the Router to make it compatable with the Windows VPN client?What are the settings I need in the Windows VPN client to allow it to connect to this router?I initially setup the QuickVPN client and that worked, but some of my users can't get it to work and I thought this might be a good alternative to try for those users.
View 8 Replies View RelatedWe have an ASA 5540 successfully using SSL VPN Client Tunnels with no issues, and have been attempting to build the ability for IPSec Clients to connect as well. I have the authentication working, yet cannot complete the establishment of the tunnel for the client. The client receives an error of "Secure VPn Connection terminated by Peer, Reason 433: (Reason not specified by Peer)". In the log on the client, I see the following when the connection drops:

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have set up our network with an RV220W as gateway/Wifi-AP,VPN host.I am able to connect over the WWW with the windows 7 client laptops no problem, BUT ,I cannot from my office reach out to the laptops, it seems as if the tunnel is one way.The users can do anything they need, but I want to be able to connect to them to update their AVG or render remote assistance etc.Ping from client to home network no problem.Client laptop is invisible to any ping etc FROM the home network.

We bought a RV220W in order to get a VPN in our Small Business. The RV220W will only be used to let clients connect to it and not a tunnel between another VPN box.We could use QuickVPN, but it won't be working in our case, because in order to use QuickVPN, the router wants to change its IP 10.x.y.1. Because we have multiple servers/services that are using a static IP, it would be quite painful to change the subnet. Therefore, we would like to stay on the same subnet and change it in worst case scenario only. This is why QuickVPN is not an option here.We could use SSL VPN, but most of our clients who will connect to the VPN are using Windows 7 x64. I have tried the Windows 7 x64 fix told in the latest firmware release notes, but I can't get it to work on my computer, which is a Win7 x64. It might still be broken. Many of them are not very tech-savyy, so I can't tell them to use a virtual machine to connect.We want a secure connection, therefore IPSec is better than PPTP. I've been trying to setup IPSec for the past hours but I can't get it working. At first, I wanted to use an SSL certificate, but having no luck with this, I switched to a Pre-shared Key (PSK) in order to get things simpler. Eventually I would like to use an SSL certificate, however I would like to get PSK working first to confirm that the IPSec connection is working.
I have attached with this post, screenshots of the IKE and VPN Policies. I have used the VPN Wizard in order to complete these fields. The local identifier is the WAN DynDNS FQDN. However, as for the remote FQDN, there should be none really, because clients are connecting to it, so the RV220W won't know in advance who's connecting and from where. I have read that when using the Responder type, the remote settings should not matter. Also, the PSK is 25 caracters long.After setting the RV220W up, I have set up a L2TP/IPSec VPN connection on my Windows 7. I have set up the connection to connect to the DynDNS address and set up the PSK in the Advanced settings. After I typed my IPSec username and password to connect (which was created in the IPSec users section), Windows tries to connect and times out :
Error 789 : The L2TP connection attempt failed because the security layer encountered a processing error during initial negotiations with the remote computer.
At the same time on the RV220W, this error shows up in the logs :

I can't figure out what I am doing wrong. I've read the Administration manual quite a few times and it seems that I have followed everything by the book.I have tried to enable/disable my Windows firewall, but did not get any luck. The RV220W is located at a remote office, to make sure that I can connect from the outside, before you think that I'm trying to connect to the outside, from the inside I have changed few settings in the IKE policy to try to make it work. Settings such as the Exchange Mode, because I've read that the Aggressive mode had issues. At this moment, the settings are back to default, once the wizard has been run. I'm thinking about setting a PPTP to confirm that this works, then move up to IPSec PSK, then to IPSec SSL Certificate.
I have an RV220w in office, which I have configure it for ipsec vpn connections. Behind router there is a NAS for file storage. [code]I have managed to connect to router from my home with ShrewVPN and I can ping every client connected to RV220w.The problem is that I can't connect to neither to router's web interface nor to NAS web interface or any other intranet web page ( the browser doesn't give any error, but keeps loading without showing the web page). Although, I can access web pages from my laptop.Also, in windows file explorer when I connect to NAS, although I can browse folders I can't copy files from my laptop to NAS and vice versa, I always get timeout error (I have checked the permissions to NAS and in addition I succeed to copy a small txt file 1kb, but no luck with bigger files).I also tried with QuickVPN client, but I had the same results. When I connect with pptp from windows everything works like a charm.My laptop has windows 7 64bit.
View 2 Replies View Relatedoriginally had two Netgear FVS318s set up with a VPN tunnel and everything worked as expected. I could connect to the server at the office from a machine at home and browse the files and more importantly do nightly backups of files that had changed at the office over the VPN to the house. The problem with the FVS318s was that for wireless I had to have another device and that the WAN to LAN throughput was something like 7Mbps. Kind of limiting when you consistently get 22Mbps from the ISP.So, I bought two Cisco RV220Ws to replace them with. I started by replacing the one at home and was able to get it going with the FVS318 at the office. The VPN was stable and I had no problem browsing the files on the server as I had already been doing. A couple weeks later I replaced the FVS318 at the office with the other RV220W and the VPN came up fine but I lost all ability to file share between the two sites. I've watched the phase 1 and 2 negotiations and they look good from both ends. =

So far we have been unsuccessful in getting this to work.On both sides, we are getting a successful connection established, but netiher site is recieving any packets. Both sides are transmitting packets though. We have exhausted our resources trying to figure out why.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a setup with 2 RV220W at 2 locations.Both with the latest Firmware (1.0.3.5). I configured portforwarding for RDP at one site. Works perfekt. I also configured an IPSec VPN between the 2 sites. Works too.
Configuration overview:
Site_1:
- IPSec VPN to site_2
Site_2:
- IPSec VPN to site_1
- Port forwarding for RDP to a local server (server_2)
My first problem is that i can ping server_2 through the VPN from a pc within site_1 but i can not access this server via RDP. As soon as i disable the Portforwarding for RDP at site_2, RDP via VPN works! I assume, that the RV220W mixes up portforwarding and VPN.I tried to set up an additional firewall rule at site_2 allowing the traffic between the local networks of both sites without restrictions and place this rule at toe top. But here is my second problem: I can not add any destination network to the firewall settings (firewall-->access rules). I only allows me to define a host to redirect the traffic to.
i have try to make a IPSec VPN Connection from my iPhone to my RV220W.
On the iPhone i get the message "The VPN Server was not found".

I Have RV220W Rev 1.0.3.5/I want to create 5 users adn connect remotely to the office network using a PPTP connection.
I have enabled the PPTP server and created users.From a remote location (WAN) on Windows 7, I have created a PPTP connection and I can connect however I can not ping or map to the office network.
I just received and installed my RV220W today. Everything was working fine. I was down to configuring SSL VPN as my last step. I was reading through the documentation and than went back to the management console to make a change. The session timed out. When it prompted me to login again I keep getting a message on the screen "i18nHTMLMissing", nothing else. (Ruby on Rails Error?) I can't seem to login anymore. All logins result in this message. I have tried from multiple devices with the same result.

Initial setup with RV220W completed without difficulty,Need to set up static IP for one of the machines in the LAN (not static IP for WAN),I presume I use the static DHCP option, which allows me to select a particular IP for the machine I select based on it's MAC,1. My confusion stems from the manual stating that "the IP address that you pick should be outside the DHCP address range specified on the Networking> LAN(local network)>IPV4(local network)page".,Does that mean that the range on the IPV4 local network page should be modified to exclude the IP address that I want to use for the static IP..e.g. change the range from 1-255 to 1-200 and then use an IP of XXX.XXX.X.201 for instanceor does that mean that as soon as I choose an IP on the Static DHCP page, that if will reserved for use only on that machine and not used for another machine on the LAN, without me having to do something else to exclude it's use (i.e. does reserving a static IP automatically remove it from the range of IPs available to other machines)If I simply set a static IP on the local machine by going to "change network adapter" settings, what's the liklihood that the router might use the same IP on another machine.

Vlan 10: engineers (ex: 192.168.1.0/27) no intervlan routing
Vlan20: sales (ex: 10.0.123.0/24) no intervlan routing
This is what i need: - An engineer is on the road and when he makes a ipsec vpn connection => assignd to the vlan "engineers" so he can access the server/pc's in that vlan.and when someone from the sales group starts a vpn connection he needs to be in the vlan "sales" so he can access his pc/data,...
When I access setup on an RV220W with Internet Explorer, Mozilla or Safari the following message always displays:
"There is a problem with this website's security certificate. The security certificate presented by this website was not issued by a trusted certificate authority. The security certificate presented by this website was issued for a different website's address."
I access the router by clicking on "Continue to this website (not recommended)."
This also happens anytime a URL filter is triggered by a client. I.e., clients do not see the "Blocked by Cisco Firewall" message unless they also click on the "Continue to this website (not recommended)." option.
Even worse, when I attempt to connect as a VPN, the SLLVPN applet gets java connection refused. This is why I bought this thing!
What do I need to do to fix all these certificate related errors?
I am locked out of the rv220w. After typing in username and password into the admin page I get "i18nHTMLMissing". I can't clear the error, even after a reboot/reset of the router. Any wat other than a factory reset? This is a brand new box .

I just got myself a Cisco RV220W, connected my laptop to configure it. I receive an IP adress by DHCP (192.168.1.x) and can ping the router (192.168.1.1). However, when I try to connect to the router by the web interface, I receive this message in my browser (Chrome):
The webpage at https://192.168.1.1/ might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address. Error 113 (net::ERR_SSL_VERSION_OR_CIPHER_MISMATCH): Unknown error.
In FireFox: Secure Connection Failed An error occurred during a connection to 192.168.1.1. Cannot communicate securely with peer: no common encryption algorithm(s). (Error code: ssl_error_no_cypher_overlap)
In IE9: I get no error message, the page never loads
Is it DoA or how to get connected to the web interface?
Can add feature "release" and "renew" to wan dhcp client? Is it WOL not possible in RV220w? i tried forward broadcast magic packet from wan side, change broadcast IP and through VPN tunnel (PPTP & IPSEC)...got failed i change from draytek 2130n to rv220w, 2130n much better. except SSL VPN.

My client PC gets VPN pool IP address, and can access remote network behind ASA, but then I lose my internet connectivity. I have read that this should be an issue with split tunneling, but I did as it is told here and no luck.On Windows VPN Client settings, if I uncheck "use default gateway on remote network" I have internet connectivity (since client is using local gateway), but then, I cannot ping remote network.In log, I see this warnings of this type:Teardown TCP connection 256 for outside:192.168.150.1/49562 to outside:213.199.181.90/80 duration 0:00:00 bytes 0 Flow is a loopback (cisco)I have attached my configuration file (without split-tunneling configuration I tried). I am trying to implement IPSec Authenticated Firewall Bypass on windows vista clients within my microsoft domain to avoid implementing numerous windows firewall port exceptions for each client.
This is working internally on our network, between services servers (i.e AV server), and desktop clients. However i am having a problem when the clients are remotly accessing the domain via the VPN client.I have open traffic ports (IKE-UDP500, ESP - IP Prot 50, AH - IP Prot 51) bidirectionally between the remote vpn clients subnet and the services servers, however when the endpoints initiate traffic to the services server, the IKE traffic is unencrypted?
Does RV180 router support client VPN connections using regular Cisco VPN client? Datasheet says it works with Quick VPN client.
If regular non-Quick client is not supported, can both clients coexist (= be installed simultaneously) on the same PC?
Does Quick VPN client support split tunneling?
I have a problem to configure a IPSEC VPN on the SA520W ( 1.0.39) with Cisco VPN Client (5.0.05.290). In the logs are following error:

running cisco VPN client over Windows XP SP 2 64 bits.
I get the error 442 Failed to enable the virtual adapter. I have seen a number of solutions, but can not find solutions or workarounds for Windows XP 64 bits.
A customer of mine has two RV082 in different locations. The "main" router is providing a gateway-to-gateway VPN tunnel, and is also used by a few road warriors for VPN access. We've had some issues with the "main" router lately, so we've decided to exchange it for a brand new device (v3). The old RV082 was a hardware revision v2 device, so I had to manually rebuild the config on the new router. The new router is working fine so far - connectivity and gateway-to-gateway VPN are fine. IPsec Client VPN, however, doesn't work at all. The config of the new router is identical to the config of the old one, IPsec Client VPN used to work fine on the old router.
The router is running the latest firmware (v4.0.4.02-tm). I've been trying to make IPsec VPN work with "QuickVPNplus ver: 1.0.6" and the "Cisco QuickVPN Client v1.4.2.1". From what I understand, both programs first connect to the routers external IP and download some sort of VPN config file. The info in that file is then used to create the actual connection. The problem is that the config file is invalid. It contains HTML code instead of config data. This is the code: "<HTML><HEAD><meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0; URL=/cgi-bin/welcome.cgi"></HEAD><BODY></BODY></HTML>". The URL is the same I see when logging in to the admin interface of the router. The Cisco client tells me in its "wget_error.txt": "rwConnStart message=All 1 wget requests did not return a valid vpnserver.conf". Both clients connect to the router fine, and the config download itself is working - only the returned data is invalid.
I've already tried lots of stuff to make the problem go away - enabling/disabling the firewall, VPN passthrough options, and other things. I'm beginning to think that there may be a bug in the firmware I'm using, or that the way Client VPN works has changed in a way that makes connecting with a client implementing the "old" method impossible. By the way, PPTP is working fine, so we're using it as a temporary workaround. My client, however, isn't happy with this workaround - he bought a relatively expensive router so he can make use of its advanced features, after all.
I'm relatively new to establishing VPN connections and I'm having one heck of a time getting everything configured.I'm setting up a RV220W at the office and trying to get VPN steup. I've have gotten Quick VPN connections working using the QuickVPN software. I've given up for now on IPsec VPN connactions and will come back to these later.What I'd like to get setup is the SSL VPN connections using the Win7 built in VPN client. Is this even possible? I initially tried to connect to the VPN via the SSL Web access but I cannot get the software/divers to install on any of the 3+ Win7 64 bit machines I tried.So can the SSL VPN on the RV220W be setup to connect to with the Win7 VPN Client using SSTP?
