I've purchased a router SRP547W and I would disable DHCP server. On the control panel I can't see anything about disabling this function. I don't need dhcp server on router and I don't need dhcp relay. My firmware version is 1.2.4_003.

We have an SRP541W on which I thought I had disabled DHCP, its turns out that in fact I haven't. After seaching again for the DHCP on/off funtion I found it under the Vlan settings (Wierd place to put it I thought).
The Router has a static ip address on the LAN side of 192.168.1.254 and is connected to a Cisco 2700 series on the WAN side. Our network DHCP is served by an SBS 2011 server hence my reason to switch off DHCP on the router. However when I select Static IP address from the Address Type in the VLAN settings and try and save the changes I get an error that is IP Address / Subnet Mask value is illegal. Great but why when the router has and IP address assigned and the subnet mask is set do I get this error. On the VLAN settings page there is no option to set an IP Address

I have ASA5505 as my main router (192.168.15.1) and it currently it also serves as DHCP server. I have a WNDR3700 (192.168.15.2) which work as an access point and it provide wireless access for wireless devices. I have few dhcp clients where i can't setup static IP, and i want to restrict them to use static IP through MAC reservation.
1. Make ASA5505 to do the MAC reservation f, which will be easy setup for me. But as per my search its not possible.
2. Disable dhcp on ASA and enable dhcp on my WNDR3700. i tired this and dhcp clients are getting IP from wndr3700, but the problem is dhcp clients gateway defaults to 192.168.15.2 (as well as dns) and therefore no internet connection.

The operation steps on router (WRVS4400N):
1.Set the IP mode as Dual-stack IP and then save
2.Disable the IPV4 DHCP server
3.Use other deivces to connect the router.
The connected devices have the same IP address(2005:123:456:789::1),I am confused, why is it?

We tried once by giving 'config dhcp proxy disable' command but seeing virtual ip again.(likely it gets back to proxy mode). We also have ip helper address on the L3 interface. I have a BEFSR41v2 and have since upgraded to a wireless router. I now need a hub and have read that I can disable the DHCP in the BEFSR41 and use it as a hub. If I understand what I've read, I hook the cable running from my current wireless router into the uplink port on the BEFSR41 and then have the 4 ports available for expansion without using the WAN port - does this sound correct? Also - should I have the router (now configured as a hub) set to obtain the IP address automatically, set a static IP address or what? Finally - the firmware is the original firmware 1.42.7 (April 2, 2002) and I've read where people have problems after updating the firmware.

I have 2 WAP4400Ns that were manufactured in July 2007. I've experienced some problems with dropped connections even with a strong signal over the years but recently, I've had long stretches where I cannot connect wirelessly to either unit. It works for a few hours then can't connect for half the day. I have no problem connecting to their admin pages over the LAN, just wirelessly. I look at the units and the power light is steady green while the Ethernet and wireless lights flicker rapidly. This looks no different when I can connect and when I can't. Connectivity doesn't depend on location; I can put my laptop right next to one of the units when they are malfunctioning and still can't connect. I tried changing the broadcast channel but it seems to have no effect. I rentered the WEP key that I have used for years and it doesn't have any effect. Settings are pretty much factory except for changing the IP address of one of them (so they can be in the same LAN) and customizing the SSIDs and security keys.

After much investigation I finally found what I thought was the firmware upgrade for my WAP4400N access point, I downloaded the file which is a .img file which seems a bit off I think. Anyway when I go to the admin page it decides its an unknown file format. Could someone explain what I am supposed to do with it!
I have to say I am very dissapointed with the whole support function of this site it is very hard to navigate and when you do think you have the correct link, its not. How very helpful!!! I suppose there are networking gurus who look after multi 1000 user systems who understand how the site works and think its fantastic. I support 5 PC's and 7 laptops on top of my normal job, it should be easier.

We have a client that moved to a new office and WAP4400N can no longer reach entire office so we need to put in repeater. However, we have already tried one that isn't compatible so which model of wireless repeater is compatible with WAP4400N. Note, we do not use Wireless N and will not be any time soon due to older devices.

I have 2 WAP4400N access points, each has a different version of the firmware installed and one has options that the other one does not.I have one access point running
If I visit the Cisco site for firmware updates, I see that only one version of firmware is available for this access point... 1.2.14.I realize that Linksys is not Cisco's main area of business, but if you are going to provide downloads for access points you could at least make sure that you have the latest version available.

Have a client wanting to hand out public ip addresses to all clients from a PFSense Firewall terminating the internet connection.
How do I allow the Cisco Switches currently in place, configured with private ip addresses in the 10.10.x.x ranges and Vlans, where the main 3550 layer 3 has defined dhcp scopes for each vlan, to relay dhcp requests from all vlans to the PFSense firewall?
I assume I would take off the currently defined dhcp scopes for the vlans and configure each vlan/switch with the ip helper address and specify the PFSense firewall and that Nat would have to be disabled onthe firewall?

I have a Cisco ASA 5500 as the main router with a DIR-655 as a wireless access point behind it. DHCP is turned off on the 655 as the ASA is providing DHCP. This worked great for about a year and now suddenly, without any changes, I'm having problems. The only thing that connects without a problem is a laptop, which shows up on the device list with an IP. Other devices have problems. iPhones connect, show an IP on the device itself, but when listed in the connected list on the 655 show no IP. The connection is super slow. An Airport Express will connect, but again, shows no IP in the connected list on the 655. Using the ethernet cable from the Airport Express, nothing can get an IP. I can live with the iPhone not connecting, but the Airport Express not connecting is a major problem. Any reason why this would just stop working one day?

I'm thinking about restricting 802.11b devices on my wireless networks and was wondering what is the best way to do so. As far as I am aware I can do it by either selecting "802.11a/g only" as the radio policy for each WLAN (Not shure what effect this will have on 802.11n though) or by disabling the following data rates 5.5mbs and 11mbs.
I'm wanting to continue providing support for 802.11g,n devices both 2.5ghz & 5ghz for n
WLC Software versions 6.0.199.4 and 7.0.220.0

How do I disable fragmentation on a 2901 router? I want it to simply drop packets oversized packets. In my lab, I am trying to test various MTU issues. I'm trying to use a 2901 router to simulate the WAN equipment that my WAN provider would deploy in production. In production i'm expecting the WAN to only support an MTU of 1320 with no fragmentation at all.

I thought maybe i could disable IPSec for those profiles, but since the IPSec is an attribute for Group Policy, i cant do it - as many other profiles are sharing the same policy.

Do you now if it is possible to disable the xlate for some connection?
The ASA has some concurrent session limitation that, I think, is related to xlate connections.
As my firewall is not performing any kind of NAT, is it possible to disabe xlate for some connections.
I saw some options like nat exemption, but i not sure if the xlate still being create even if we don't have a NAT translation.

How can i disable dns doctoring on my Cisco 1921 router? Even if i use an external DNS my router facilitates me when i try to resolv addresses that are accessible externally and NATed through my router to the appropriate host. The router looks at its own NAT table and sees the IP i am trying to access and sends me right to the local IP. In my situation this is not good and i would like to disable this feature so that i can take the "outside" to this website.
