We have a client that moved to a new office and WAP4400N can no longer reach entire office so we need to put in repeater. However, we have already tried one that isn't compatible so which model of wireless repeater is compatible with WAP4400N. Note, we do not use Wireless N and will not be any time soon due to older devices.
View 1 RepliesI have 2 WAP4400Ns that were manufactured in July 2007. I've experienced some problems with dropped connections even with a strong signal over the years but recently, I've had long stretches where I cannot connect wirelessly to either unit. It works for a few hours then can't connect for half the day. I have no problem connecting to their admin pages over the LAN, just wirelessly. I look at the units and the power light is steady green while the Ethernet and wireless lights flicker rapidly. This looks no different when I can connect and when I can't. Connectivity doesn't depend on location; I can put my laptop right next to one of the units when they are malfunctioning and still can't connect. I tried changing the broadcast channel but it seems to have no effect. I rentered the WEP key that I have used for years and it doesn't have any effect. Settings are pretty much factory except for changing the IP address of one of them (so they can be in the same LAN) and customizing the SSIDs and security keys.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter much investigation I finally found what I thought was the firmware upgrade for my WAP4400N access point, I downloaded the file which is a .img file which seems a bit off I think. Anyway when I go to the admin page it decides its an unknown file format. Could someone explain what I am supposed to do with it!
I have to say I am very dissapointed with the whole support function of this site it is very hard to navigate and when you do think you have the correct link, its not. How very helpful!!! I suppose there are networking gurus who look after multi 1000 user systems who understand how the site works and think its fantastic. I support 5 PC's and 7 laptops on top of my normal job, it should be easier.
I have 2 WAP4400N access points, each has a different version of the firmware installed and one has options that the other one does not.I have one access point running
If I visit the Cisco site for firmware updates, I see that only one version of firmware is available for this access point... 1.2.14.I realize that Linksys is not Cisco's main area of business, but if you are going to provide downloads for access points you could at least make sure that you have the latest version available.
I have a WAP 4400n and need to expand the range.Linksys support suggested WAP200 to repeat the signal, but I am probably missing something, because its not working.WAP200 can see the WAP4400n, recognizes its MAC adress, but does not work.Anything to set on the WAP4400n to let the signal to be repeated?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI currently have a Toshiba Satellite L750-04K, which has an Atheros AR9002WB-1NG wireless card.It's specs say it's a 802.11b/g/n, but it only offers 1 stream N and max's out at 150Mbps. While the card incorporates Bluetooth, it's a very basic wireless card.While I had a 'G' series router, the laptop connectivity was great and never dropped me off the network, however when I upgraded my router to a new 'N' series, my laptop would constantly drop off my network, requiring a constant resetting of my wireless adapter to get me back online. Other devices were fine on the same router.Thinking my laptop was faulty, I sent it back to Toshiba under warranty and while it tested ok, they replaced the wireless card as a precaution. When I got it home, it was exactly the same, constantly disconnecting.I've tried every troubleshooting measure available and I've come to the opinion I need to put a much better wireless adapter in my machine, especially if I want to utilize 'N' routers.
