Linksys Wireless Router :: Block An IP Address With WRVS4400N?
Nov 8, 2009
I've been keeping an eye on my IPS report tab lately and have been watching a large number of ICMP_SMURF and DOS attacks originating from chinese ip address's. I know I can probably block the offending ip's through the ip based acl tab in the firewall settings, but I'm kind of a newbie how I can block certain ip's from touching my router?
I get a "IP address conflict" message on my wireless network. Using a WRVS4400n wireless router with the latest firmware that is set to PPoE. Motorola 336 dsl modem is set to bridge mode. My network has 2 computers attached: hardwire desktop and wireless connection to laptop. When I contacted ATT support, they said the problem is in the wireless modem. Are there some settings in the WRVS4400n that must be set to insure that each computer gets a different IP address?
I have been looking into this router, I would like to know if I can enable Parental controls or access restrictions to block a MAC or IP address; from 03:00 AM - 06:00 AM ?Instead of Midnight to 6:00 am.My E4200 works just fine, Just would like to know if the EA6500 Can do that ?
Query regarding the Cisco WRVS4400N and Valet M10 routers. How to block the web interface (router login page) from wireless accessibility?
-Our Business is a hotel, so untrusted intruders are our guests. -Our ISP seeks hotspot methods that we cannot implement. -Our only solution is routers and an AP to extend internet wirelessly.
the login page or configuration page of the router is always accessible via the gateway address.if the gateway is 192.168.1.1, then a guest can just enter this address and try to guess the password. hacking tools add to the problem.the LAN is working but it is not of certification standards.I seek a way to block wireless access to the gateway login page or physical access only.
When i try to active the Internet Access Police with Website Blocking by Keyword, the router WRVS4400N block any access to internet, the Access Restriction by time is disable. How i can active this feature without restrict all the access?
I have a WAG160Nv2 and I want to block specific external ip addresses from trying to get at our server that uses the WAG160Nv2 as an internet gateway. It's not immediately obvious if this can be done from looking through the config pages.
I have a conflict with my satellite Internet connection between the modem and router IP addresses. I also somehow entered a password for the router which I now cannot duplicate. received a request for additional information which I responded to in September. I attempted to follow-up in October again, but I have not received any reply since the first one on August 11, 2011.
My WRVS4400N, V220.127.116.11CPU:STAR 9202.Doesn't allocate IP address on DHCP for anything but the Open SSID. All others, WEP, WPA, WPA2, nothing.I tried different clients, Intel Centrino wifi, Cisco, AG-CB21 same results. The config is std, I tried one VLAN for ALL SSID, I tried different VLANS, same.
I have 2 WRVS4400N's availible to be. One is running my network and security connected to my WAN.I want to use the other one stricly as a switch or even adding wireless repeat of my current wireless LAN.
I would like to connect to the built in accounts on the wrvs4400n from a mac VPN client. I am new VPN and have not found much information on how to establish this connection. Since Linksys seems determined to rely on Quickvpn, and provides no information on what it is actually doing under the hood I can not figure out how to configure any of the VPN clients available, or the built in VPN tools, for OS X (10.4.8). The only information I have been able to find seems to relate to setting up VPN Tunnels, or running a server behind the wrvs4400n and using one of the VPN passthrough options. I would like to connect directly to the built in accounts, how to set this up on a mac?
I cant get the WRVS4400N to connect to my cable modem. The WAN link light isnt even lighting up. Im wondering if this unit is bad out of the box. Is there a setting im missing to get them to talk to one another. This is no mention in any of the manuals.
Connections: - The "Internet" port on the WRVS4400N to the "Network" port on my cable modem (No link light)
Here is what i have verified at this point: - My old router connects instantly to the modem when plugged in (Same cable) - When i plug my laptop into the WAN port on the WRVS4400N i get a link light. When i plug the modem into the WAN port...nothing.
I have a WRVS4400N setup as a main router for one of our bays. For wired connections it is working with no problems. When I first installed it it ran fine for wireless as well. I was trying to get WDS to work and at some point the wireless stopped working. My laptop can no longer connect to it and often cannot see it when doing a scan for networks. I have already checked that it isn't a problem with the laptop, that there are not other networks causing interferance, and even tried resetting to default configs.
The router will serve as an access point for 10 wireless station, 6 of them will run over Terminal server, the router will also serve 20 computer for the internet, so I want to Link aggregate the four LAN port to my swtich, I know how to do it on my Dell Powerconnect, but I want to know if the WRVS4400N will support it, there will be a lot of traffic going through the router so linking the 4 port in LAG mode to my Powerconnect swicth will speed up the communication
I cannot connect via VPN PPTP (normal setup in windows xp), I have managed to connect over VPN direct connected to internet, through the router (WRVS4400n) if I turn off the firewall. But I cannot connect with the firewall enabled,One more thing, the device is on and I have enabled the passthrough (and 'Multicast Passthrough' in firewall basic settings) for all available options where one of the options is PPTP.
I am attempting to setup a router with another vendor, but I am not wanting to give full access to the network just a couple IP addresses, most routers you can setup an VPN IP Range, but I can't find that setting on this Cisco WRVS4400N.
I bought a router Cisco WRVS4400N Wireless-N Gigabit Security Router - VPN v2.0 with the intention of using with the QuickVPN Clien for connecting to my home network. My home network is connected to a pre provide by my ISP Thomson and is connected to it but all my main network is controlled by the WRVS4400N, I have forward all the doors, as you can see by the log part below, and by analysing the log you can see that I can get any PING to complete the VPN connection. [code]
As a temp work around I have two SSID now, one for everything else running WPA2 and one for xbox running WPA. The xbox seems to not like the router on WPA2 and though this would make one think, oh its your xbox, thats not always the case with devices. Some just may happen to want to use a feature the device doesn't support correctly and other devices are able to work around it while ones not so I cant for sure blame on xbox.
I've been configured my device to forward FTP service to my server, however, I can't access this service outside from my network. I used Single Port Forward and not worked, after, I've used Port Range Forwarding starting in 20 to 21 and not work again.I've sniffed my computer and I've found just 3 outsides packages without response.I've tried with directly IP ADDR and DYNDNS ADDR, but neither one or other worked.
I have a linksys wrvs4400n router on which:The wireless computers are connected to the home network (v lan 1)Port 1 is connected to the home network (v lan 1)Port 2 is connected to the office network (v lan 2)And the printers are connected to port 3.Now I'd like to setup the router in such a way that all computers have access to the printers (port 3), but I don't know what v lan settings I have to use on port 3, or if it is even possible...
Type: WRVS4400N Wireless-N Gigabit Security Router with VPN.I bought it last week. Its single port forwarding has an issue. I can only use that function for a couple or hours. Then the forwarding does not work. I have to reboot the router to make it available again.
I switched from Time Capsule with AirPort to E2000 and have a problem with configuration.I use the same IPs as in AirPort and E2000 gives me an error:"The WAN IP address cannot be the same subnet as the Guest Network IP address" and I can't save configuration. But in my opinion they are different.I use "Static IP" option and I have IPs from my ISP: [code] So WAN IP is different subnet as LAN and I don't know what to do now. It worked with these settings in AirPort and here I can't proceed.
I have the Linksys WRT610N wireless router and would like to know if it is possible to block all domains ending in .XXX? The access restrictions let you type in a 'specific' URL, but using a generic domain name doesn't seem to work. I basically want to block all access to any URL that ends in .XXX.
So I have an WRVS4400N V2 and just got a new laptop with an Intel 6230 Wifi card in it and have an odd problem. While the laptop is on battery power the network gets massive packet loss.
I don't know what to do.Laptop manufacture says its AP but AP worked fine with old laptop and works fine when laptop is on power and all other devices seem to be fine with the exception of my Xbox 360 that wont connect if I have it on WPA2 but I will post another thread for that.
