I am attempting to setup a router with another vendor, but I am not wanting to give full access to the network just a couple IP addresses, most routers you can setup an VPN IP Range, but I can't find that setting on this Cisco WRVS4400N.
View 1 RepliesI'm having problems trying to establish a IP Sec tunnel from the office to home. All of our machines are Macs so I have been using the directions described in "How to create an IP Sec tunnel for MAC Clients, A QVPN alternative" but I still can't get it to work. My setup is as follows:
The office is connected to the outside world through a MODEM (Sagemcom 2864 Connection Hub). This MODEM is also a wireless router. It's DHCP server provides addresses 192.168.2.x.The WRVS4400N's WAN port is connected to one of the LAN ports on the MODEM. It's IP address from the MODEM is 192.168.2.x. The WRVS4400N provides addresses 192.168.21.x to devices connected to it.We have a DynDNS account and are using the DDNS client on the WRVS4400N router to connect to it.At home, we have a DIR-655 router with IP Sec Passthru enabled. The router provides IP addresses 192.168.1.x for all devices connected to it. I am fairly sure there are no issues with the router setup at home since I am able to VPN into the office of my full-time job without any problems. I have tried just about everything I can think of but have not been able to get this to work. setting up the Local and Remote Group Settings on the WRVS4400N and the IP address settings in IP Securitas?
I have a problem setting up a VPN between a local office and a head office some distance away.Here at our local office, we have a Cisco WRVS4400N Small Business device.At the head office they have a Cisco ASA Device.We need to set up a point-to-point VPN and I have no idea how to do this with these devices.To make matters worse, the resource I have at the other end in an unknown entity who also does not seem to have much experience with this.Is there any type of step-by-step guide to such a configuration?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI would like to connect to the built in accounts on the wrvs4400n from a mac VPN client. I am new VPN and have not found much information on how to establish this connection. Since Linksys seems determined to rely on Quickvpn, and provides no information on what it is actually doing under the hood I can not figure out how to configure any of the VPN clients available, or the built in VPN tools, for OS X (10.4.8). The only information I have been able to find seems to relate to setting up VPN Tunnels, or running a server behind the wrvs4400n and using one of the VPN passthrough options. I would like to connect directly to the built in accounts, how to set this up on a mac?

Done deal. And also very easy to check a couple of known patterns in the VPN table.When I determine I need to bump the VPN, how do we simulate the form submission and/or call to the JavaScript programmatically? we're using a Linksys WRVS4400N router, firmware version V1.1.13.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI cant get the WRVS4400N to connect to my cable modem. The WAN link light isnt even lighting up. Im wondering if this unit is bad out of the box. Is there a setting im missing to get them to talk to one another. This is no mention in any of the manuals.

Here is what i have verified at this point: - My old router connects instantly to the modem when plugged in (Same cable) - When i plug my laptop into the WAN port on the WRVS4400N i get a link light. When i plug the modem into the WAN port...nothing.
I get a "IP address conflict" message on my wireless network. Using a WRVS4400n wireless router with the latest firmware that is set to PPoE. Motorola 336 dsl modem is set to bridge mode. My network has 2 computers attached: hardwire desktop and wireless connection to laptop. When I contacted ATT support, they said the problem is in the wireless modem. Are there some settings in the WRVS4400n that must be set to insure that each computer gets a different IP address?

I know I can probably block the offending ip's through the ip based acl tab in the firewall settings, but I'm kind of a newbie how I can block certain ip's from touching my router?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a WRVS4400N setup as a main router for one of our bays. For wired connections it is working with no problems. When I first installed it it ran fine for wireless as well. I was trying to get WDS to work and at some point the wireless stopped working. My laptop can no longer connect to it and often cannot see it when doing a scan for networks. I have already checked that it isn't a problem with the laptop, that there are not other networks causing interferance, and even tried resetting to default configs.
View 1 Replies View RelatedEarlier today I was attempting to do something with my router settings and ended up reading on the internet that I needed to do a hard reset to access my router interface - when I typed in the IP address, it came to a "could not find server" error in the browser. After doing the hard reset (holding down the reset button for 30 seconds) I was able to access the router, and adjust the settings. After doing this though I was no longer able to connect to the internet through the router, although the router is sending out a signal (it says connected to linksys but "no internet connection"). I am currently connected directly to the modem right now using my laptop.

Router model: WRT45G v.3
ISP: Bellsouth
TL;DR: Did a hard reset on my router, now it's sending out a signal, but no internet. Modem still has internet, as does the router, (the internet button is green).
I've followed Watchguard's instructions for configuring a Branch Office VPN connection, and I'm unable to connect. I have configured the Watchguard gateway to accept remote-to-local connections and put in the Watchguard's public IP address as the local connection, and the WRVS4400n's public IP as remote.The Linksys has the local VPN group configured as 192.168.0.0./24 and the remote gateway as the Watchguard's public IP Address.When I connect it remains "down" and I"m receiving errors saying it could not authenticate. I have the passphrase the same on both sides with 3DES and SHA1 configured.Does the WRVS4400n support this type of VPN configuration or am I wasting effort?

But I cannot connect with the firewall enabled,One more thing, the device is on and I have enabled the passthrough (and 'Multicast Passthrough' in firewall basic settings) for all available options where one of the options is PPTP.

The xbox seems to not like the router on WPA2 and though this would make one think, oh its your xbox, thats not always the case with devices. Some just may happen to want to use a feature the device doesn't support correctly and other devices are able to work around it while ones not so I cant for sure blame on xbox.

I have successfully established an IKE preshared key and the tunnel is listed as Up. I can successfully connect through the VPN tunnel into the office network through the tunnel and all seems good. After some period of time, the tunnel apparently goes into a bad state. Access to the office network is no longer available. When looking at the VPN status screen, the Linksys indicates that the tunnel is up. However, I cannot ping any resources on the office lan. If I disconnect and connect the site to site VPN tunnel, it connects and comes back up successfully. It seems like there is some sort of timeout taking place here. I am running the 1.1.03 firmware.
