Linksys Wireless Router :: Setting Up WDS On DPC3825?
Nov 4, 2011
I have a DPC3825 from Shaw Cable in Canada. I'd like to use my Airport Extreme as a repeater using WDS. I've clicked the checkbox for "Allow wireless signal to be repeated by a repeater" and entered my Airport's MAC Address, but my Airport Base station doesn't see it as a WDS Peer.
I am looking to permanently reset the default remote management port of the MODEM DPC3825 to something other than 8080. how to PERMANENTLY change the port from 8080? In the web interface under administration I have several times set it to something else other than the defaulted 8080 but when the modem is rebooted or reset, it goes back to the default 8080.
I got a problem with my router CISCO (DPC3825) where the eithernet is working properly and the wireless is not, and I had to plug the usb to make the setups, and suddenly the wireless was working but when I tried to reset the password something worng happened change the set of the wireles
Just got a Cisco DPC3825 from my ISP. I need to connect my other desktops to the wireless router all over the house and have two questions.
1. What is the best wireless adapter to use so my other desktops will be able to access the router?
2. What is the distance of signal before I need a signal booster and if I do need to boos the signal, what is the best device to do that? (we stream video, music, light gaming and general internet applications).
Recently installed a new CISCO DPC3825 and set up for wireless. I can connect to the network, signal strength excellent, but NO Internet. i have read a few threads showing similar issues, but i am getting lost when i try to troubleshoot further. i ran a command 'ipconfig/all' and got some data. I am confused also as under my network adapter it says 'media disconnected' .
I have CISCO DPC3825 router and theres about 3 computers and 2 wireless devices using internet through it. When i connect to a online video game I get these mini-disconnects. It happens periodically and frequently I'm not sure what is causing it.
i have a dpc3825 cable mdem gateway i spent 4 hours on the phone with charter yesterday i cant access the admin part of the router i go to 192.168.0.1 and up comes the setup username and password i have reset it numerous times i have left it blank as per instructions i have tried admin and blank cusadmin and password i cant get in
I am trying to figure out whyt my DPC3825 does not maintain a FTP session I did not really want to post this message rather I am trying to figure out how to search this board.
NIB DPC3825 cable modem. Called my provider and got it provisioned and its working (I'm on an ethernet connection posting this). But when I http to 192.168.0.1, I get a screen that doesn't quite look like the one in the manual. I enter the "admin" and "W2402" and click login, and the screen refreshes but nothing happens (no configuration options, only able to check status of downstream and upstream channels). Pushing the factory reset button for ten seconds to load defaults makes the lights blink and then reboots; same result as above. Pushing the wireless config button has no effect at all.
I recently upgraded, through my ISP, my high-speed modem to the DPC3825 model modem/router. But when I try to connect to the DLink switch, the modem freezes, and doesn't recognize it. My previous setup was modem, to my DLink router (DIR 615), to my switch. With my new setup, I just bypassed the DLink router, because my new modem includes router capability. Is there some compatibility issue between the new modem and the DLink switch?
I would like to know what ip addresses I should see in this table. Shouldn't my default gateway IP have the same mac address as my computer or router? There are 2 different ip address/mac addresses from different a ISP than mine. I have a cisco DPC3825..I suspect a someone is spoofing my DNS.
My buddy received a BEFW11S4 ver 4 Linksys router from his girlfriends mom but no installation key. I'm having a hard time getting to find the download so I can initial manually on this website.
I would like to know how to setup QOS on the linksys EA6500 wireless router. I know about the media prioritization settings, however, thats not enough for me. I would like to setup upload and download speed limits for certain devices on my network, like, say 300kbps download for a certain device at all times.
I currently have my wired cable internet hooked into my wrt310n. I have that hooked into a linksys 10/100 ef3124 switch. From there, I have cat5 run to the back of my house, where the wireless signal is weakest. I've got an E2000 router and would like to hook that in at the back of the house. What settings do I need to make in order to set up a completely new wireless network in the back of the house?
I recently wanted to try using the Google public DNS servers on my home network. I have a Cisco E4200 router. On the router's administration page, I set Static DNS 1 to 8.8.8.8 and Static DNS 2 to 8.8.4.4 and saved the settings.Even after rebooting the router, the Setup page shows the Google DNS addresses listed above, but the Status page shows 65.32.5.111 and 65.32.5.112 as being the DNS servers its using.
My house is a little too big for my WRT160N v3 to be able to get to every room, so i was wondering if i could set up my old WRH54G as a repeater to get that extra distance to get those last room on the network? if so how to set up the connection?
I am to play an online game called, "Super Street Fighter: Arcade Edition" and I am constantly getting disconnected. Currently my router is set to DHCP and I read and heard from other sources that a static IP is the way to go but I can't seem to get it setup when I follow youtube videos or read how-to guides.Which is the best choice for a solid connection? Port forward the ports need to play the game or setup a static ip or some sort of combination of both? How to setup a static IP with the linksys e4200? I also have a linksys repeater to boost the signal strength. Its the Linksys RE1000 repeater. Also, if you have any other suggestions that might be better such as leaving my router on DHCP and making changes somewhere else in the router configuration page (192.168.1.1).
I'm moving into a new house. I've purchased the E4200 and the WET610N so I can connect between the main house and the carriage house which will be my office. Carriage house is 60' away from the main house. I want to place the E4200 in the main house and will send it the broadband cable signal from the cable modem. I'll wire ethernet directly from the E4200 to the DVR for DirecTV and will use another output to distribute to other computers in the main house via ethernet switch. I will place the WET610N in the carriage house and want to take to output from the WET610N into wired ethernet switch(es) there for access to the broadband from the house.
I have EA4500 router that connects a couple of desktops in one room. I am having to setup another room for gaming for which I have another EA4500 router. I want to setup the second EA4500 uplink(accesspoint) as the first EA4500. I dont find any interface to do it. I am able to do it wired(by connecting the both the routers through LAN ports). but I dont want to run cable across the house. know if it is possible with another firmware. Or should I return this new EA4500 and buy another router?
I need to set the local IP for my new wrt54gh wireless router to 172.28.2.x & netmask to 255.255.0.0 but there is no option to set the netmask to 255.255.0.0 in the drop down menu / list .
My channel width is Channel Width is 40 mhz only, and my channel is Auto DFS?These seem like good settings? My macbook air sometimes see's my 5ghz wireless SID, and sometimes it connects to it, but i still have no internet access for some reason
I do have a problem setting up the above mentioned router with my French Internet/TV provider.
The French Internet/TV access is provided through, what they call "Freebox". I have the v6 version, which exists of 2 parts, a server and a player. The server is equiped with 4 Ethernet ports and has a build-in NAS of 250 GB for storing and accessible for everybody on out home network. The server is connected via Ethernet to the player, which in turn is connected via hdmi to my TV.
In order to extend my network, I used an old Belkin 54g Wi-Fi router without a problem. Since the wi-fi died on the Belkin, I replaced it by the E3200.
I also want to use the wireless capabilities of the E3200 in our living room.
Internet access, through cable and/or Wi-Fi works without a problem with this setup. The only problem is: I don't have access to the TV channels. I am getting a popup on my TV saying that the Ethernet cable is disconnected! The cable is fine since it works with my Belkin.
The configuration is the following: ADSL cable to the Freebox server => port 1 connected to port 1 of the E3200 via a crossover cable => port 2 of the E3200 connected via a straight cable to the freebox player => hdmi cable between player and TV
Asking around, it seems that the Freebox server is using an encrypted VLAN100 connection to the player for TV channels. The problem must be there. how to setup a port - if possible - to handle the TV flux. I know a bit about hardware what concenrs pc's, but my knowledge about networking and addressing ports is rather poor.
What I did so far is the following: Since the Freebox server has its IP set at 192.168.0.254, I setup my E3200 at 192.168.0.5 with sub mask 255.255.255.0 and disabled DHCP. As I said before, it works for internet and connecting laptops through the router ports. But my knowledge stops there.
What I would like to know if it is possible, setting up/directing one port in a VLAN mode in order to get access to my TV channels and leave the other ports for normal internet access. Just a small tuto with an example would do.
I recently purchased an EA6500 router to replace the crappy Westell 7550 AT&T provided me with. The 7550 was easily hooked up with two cords: the Ethernet cord into the computer and the Internet/data cable hooked into the DSL filter. I thought the EA6500 would have an easy installation, but it has not gone so smoothly. I hypothesize it's one of two problems - either the Internet/data cable is incompatible with the EA6500 (the cable works; I've re-tested it on the 7550), or it is because all instructions mention plugging the Internet/data cable into a modem's port while I do not have a modem. My Internet comes from a DSL filter attached to a telephone jack in the wall.
I bought the EA6500 yesterday and tried setting it up with the CD that came with it and it tells me ( YOUR COMPUTER DOES NOT HAVE NETWORKING CAPABILITY ) and will not install. I have the capability for networking because I have a network. I was able to set the router up but not with the software on the CD. I have tried a number of times and still get the same message and when I click on view details this is what I get .I have a network adapter and it works just fine.
I just moved and my set up disc for my WRT54GS2V1 is in some box in some abyss at this point. My network is not secure and I want to secure it. My linksys also runs my cable. How do I make my network secure? I have Vista (not sure that matters) and a PC. I tried to follow some instructions here but I typed in IP config in my top bar and didn't get any local address..
We just moved into a new apartment. In our old place, we had Comcast cable internet with a modem and our wireless router worked fine. Now with Hotwire, we can't get the router to work. Here are the details:
-We can plug our computer directly into the ethernet cable outlet in the wall and it connects.
-We didn't get a modem from Hotwire.
-Wireless router: Linksys WRT54G
We've tried already to change router back to default factory settings. Didn't work. We reset our passwords for the router. Didn't work. Tried to put in the MAC address of the computer and it didn't seem to work. We originally were able to connect a computer to the internet through the router sometimes but just the wireless section didn't work.
Apparently the setup cd does not work with Mac OS Lion. Anyone else out there is using this router on a Mac running Lion...if so, how did you set up the router.
I am a powerbook G4 user, Mac's wireless is good so far.OSX 10.4.11 and when I am using E1000 extender, often the admin page shows up automatically like 192.168.1.1 and asks me to log in and once I log into the admin page, of corse show up the admin page. So, all my other internet pages are gone every time.Only shows the admin page.It does not happen with windows PCs.
