I have a DPC3825 from Shaw Cable in Canada. I'd like to use my Airport Extreme as a repeater using WDS. I've clicked the checkbox for "Allow wireless signal to be repeated by a repeater" and entered my Airport's MAC Address, but my Airport Base station doesn't see it as a WDS Peer.

I am looking to permanently reset the default remote management port of the MODEM DPC3825 to something other than 8080. how to PERMANENTLY change the port from 8080? In the web interface under administration I have several times set it to something else other than the defaulted 8080 but when the modem is rebooted or reset, it goes back to the default 8080.

1. What is the best wireless adapter to use so my other desktops will be able to access the router?
2. What is the distance of signal before I need a signal booster and if I do need to boos the signal, what is the best device to do that? (we stream video, music, light gaming and general internet applications).
Recently installed a new CISCO DPC3825 and set up for wireless. I can connect to the network, signal strength excellent, but NO Internet. i have read a few threads showing similar issues, but i am getting lost when i try to troubleshoot further. i ran a command 'ipconfig/all' and got some data. I am confused also as under my network adapter it says 'media disconnected' .

View 1 Replies View RelatedNIB DPC3825 cable modem. Called my provider and got it provisioned and its working (I'm on an ethernet connection posting this). But when I http to 192.168.0.1, I get a screen that doesn't quite look like the one in the manual. I enter the "admin" and "W2402" and click login, and the screen refreshes but nothing happens (no configuration options, only able to check status of downstream and upstream channels). Pushing the factory reset button for ten seconds to load defaults makes the lights blink and then reboots; same result as above. Pushing the wireless config button has no effect at all.

But when I try to connect to the DLink switch, the modem freezes, and doesn't recognize it. My previous setup was modem, to my DLink router (DIR 615), to my switch. I have a Cisco E4200 router.On the router's administration page, I set Static DNS 1 to 8.8.8.8 and Static DNS 2 to 8.8.4.4 and saved the settings.Even after rebooting the router, the Setup page shows the Google DNS addresses listed above, but the Status page shows 65.32.5.111 and 65.32.5.112 as being the DNS servers its using.

Currently my router is set to DHCP and I read and heard from other sources that a static IP is the way to go but I can't seem to get it setup when I follow youtube videos or read how-to guides.Which is the best choice for a solid connection? Port forward the ports need to play the game or setup a static ip or some sort of combination of both? How to setup a static IP with the linksys e4200? I also have a linksys repeater to boost the signal strength. Carriage house is 60' away from the main house. I want to place the E4200 in the main house and will send it the broadband cable signal from the cable modem. I'll wire ethernet directly from the E4200 to the DVR for DirecTV and will use another output to distribute to other computers in the main house via ethernet switch. I will place the WET610N in the carriage house and want to take to output from the WET610N into wired ethernet switch(es) there for access to the broadband from the house.

The French Internet/TV access is provided through, what they call "Freebox". I have the v6 version, which exists of 2 parts, a server and a player. The server is equiped with 4 Ethernet ports and has a build-in NAS of 250 GB for storing and accessible for everybody on out home network. The server is connected via Ethernet to the player, which in turn is connected via hdmi to my TV.
In order to extend my network, I used an old Belkin 54g Wi-Fi router without a problem. Since the wi-fi died on the Belkin, I replaced it by the E3200.
I also want to use the wireless capabilities of the E3200 in our living room.
Internet access, through cable and/or Wi-Fi works without a problem with this setup. The only problem is: I don't have access to the TV channels. I am getting a popup on my TV saying that the Ethernet cable is disconnected! The cable is fine since it works with my Belkin.
The configuration is the following: ADSL cable to the Freebox server => port 1 connected to port 1 of the E3200 via a crossover cable => port 2 of the E3200 connected via a straight cable to the freebox player => hdmi cable between player and TV
Asking around, it seems that the Freebox server is using an encrypted VLAN100 connection to the player for TV channels. The problem must be there. how to setup a port - if possible - to handle the TV flux. I know a bit about hardware what concenrs pc's, but my knowledge about networking and addressing ports is rather poor.
What I did so far is the following: Since the Freebox server has its IP set at 192.168.0.254, I setup my E3200 at 192.168.0.5 with sub mask 255.255.255.0 and disabled DHCP. As I said before, it works for internet and connecting laptops through the router ports. But my knowledge stops there.
What I would like to know if it is possible, setting up/directing one port in a VLAN mode in order to get access to my TV channels and leave the other ports for normal internet access. Just a small tuto with an example would do.
I recently purchased an EA6500 router to replace the crappy Westell 7550 AT&T provided me with. The 7550 was easily hooked up with two cords: the Ethernet cord into the computer and the Internet/data cable hooked into the DSL filter. I thought the EA6500 would have an easy installation, but it has not gone so smoothly. I hypothesize it's one of two problems - either the Internet/data cable is incompatible with the EA6500 (the cable works; I've re-tested it on the 7550), or it is because all instructions mention plugging the Internet/data cable into a modem's port while I do not have a modem. My Internet comes from a DSL filter attached to a telephone jack in the wall.

I have the capability for networking because I have a network. I was able to set the router up but not with the software on the CD. View 3 Replies View RelatedI am a powerbook G4 user, Mac's wireless is good so far.OSX 10.4.11 and when I am using E1000 extender, often the admin page shows up automatically like 192.168.1.1 and asks me to log in and once I log into the admin page, of corse show up the admin page.So, all my other internet pages are gone every time.Only shows the admin page.It does not happen with windows PCs.
