I'm using a Linksys E3200 router with a Motorola modem and an elite xbox 360 with a wireless N networking adapter. (Black with two antennas.) I just recently bought this router because I wanted some faster gaming. I wanted to put my xbox on the 5ghz so it would have it all to itself, and have the two laptops share the 2.4ghz. But it won't let me onto the 5ghz band... I can see it on my xbox but it won't connect to it at all. I can get onto the 2.4 band but its at 802.11G, so its not even giving me N there, when it should be. I'm not sure if this is an issue with my adapter or router...I tried finding stuff about it, and it looked like people were blaming it on linksys, but that was almost a year ago. And there was never an update on what happened.I can see the 5Ghz band on my xbox (but only if the channel width is on 20Mhz only), but I can't find it on my computer. Which I find weird. I've been trying a lot of things and I just can't get my laptop to find it. So nothing is using the 5 band, and all my devices are crowded onto the 2.4...Is there some step in setting up the 5Ghz band that I'm missing maybe?

I do have a problem setting up the above mentioned router with my French Internet/TV provider.
The French Internet/TV access is provided through, what they call "Freebox". I have the v6 version, which exists of 2 parts, a server and a player. The server is equiped with 4 Ethernet ports and has a build-in NAS of 250 GB for storing and accessible for everybody on out home network. The server is connected via Ethernet to the player, which in turn is connected via hdmi to my TV.
In order to extend my network, I used an old Belkin 54g Wi-Fi router without a problem. Since the wi-fi died on the Belkin, I replaced it by the E3200.
I also want to use the wireless capabilities of the E3200 in our living room.
Internet access, through cable and/or Wi-Fi works without a problem with this setup. The only problem is: I don't have access to the TV channels. I am getting a popup on my TV saying that the Ethernet cable is disconnected! The cable is fine since it works with my Belkin.
The configuration is the following: ADSL cable to the Freebox server => port 1 connected to port 1 of the E3200 via a crossover cable => port 2 of the E3200 connected via a straight cable to the freebox player => hdmi cable between player and TV
Asking around, it seems that the Freebox server is using an encrypted VLAN100 connection to the player for TV channels. The problem must be there. how to setup a port - if possible - to handle the TV flux. I know a bit about hardware what concenrs pc's, but my knowledge about networking and addressing ports is rather poor.
What I did so far is the following: Since the Freebox server has its IP set at 192.168.0.254, I setup my E3200 at 192.168.0.5 with sub mask 255.255.255.0 and disabled DHCP. As I said before, it works for internet and connecting laptops through the router ports. But my knowledge stops there.
What I would like to know if it is possible, setting up/directing one port in a VLAN mode in order to get access to my TV channels and leave the other ports for normal internet access. Just a small tuto with an example would do.

I have e4200 router set up with different SSIDs for 2.4ghz and 5ghz. My laptop (Lenovo x220 with Intel 6205 wireless adapter) can't see the 5ghz network. I've tried changing the channel for the 5ghz network and it didn't fix the problem.

I am using the E2500 with the Wireless N-pci adapter with dual band, both with the latest drivers / firmware, and I am getting extremely low signal quality and connection speed when connecting to the 5 Ghz network. My computer is no more than 15 feet away from the router, and on the same level. I also verified the connection with the 2.4 Ghz band, and it reads as excellent, and with 54 mps. Using 5 Ghz I get one bar of signal quality (very poor) and no more than 13 mps connection speed.

Wednesday, November 23, 2011I have an Airport Extreme dual-band 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz. Each network is has a different name and different password so I know exactly which one I am connected to.On a MacBook Pro, it sees both networks. On a Dell E5520 it will see both networks. On an iPhone 4 it will see both networks. I can connect any of these devices to either network.Just got the Linksys E3000 dual-band 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz. Each network is has a different name and different password so I know exactly which one I am connected to.On a MacBook Pro, it sees both networks. On a Dell it will only see the 2.4Ghz network. On an iPhone 4 it will only see the 2.4Ghz network. The Airport Extreme is powered off when using the E3000 so I know there is no interference from this router.E3000 Firmware Version 1.0.04. It's the latest.5Ghz Wireless Settings
Network Mode: Mixed
Channel Width: Auto (20Mhz or 40Mhz)
Channel: Auto (DFS)
2.4Ghz Wireless Settings
Network Mode: Mixed
Channel Width: Auto (20Mhz or 40Mhz)
Channel: Auto (DFS)Did not mess with any other settings. I have rebooted the computer, cycled the router and modem 3-4 times.Nothing works. My question is since both laptops and phone can see the 5Ghz network when running the Airport Extreme, why doesn't the 5Ghz network show up on the Dell and iPhone when running the E3000.

I've found a few people with this problem on the internet. I'm using my phat 360 with the black N adapter. e2500 is updated to the latest firmware. But my 360 cannot connect to the 5ghz N, only 2.4ghz g. The wierd thing is that the 5ghz signal gives a better signal than the 2.4ghz.
I just found a thread on google talking about the e4200 and someone mentioned counterfit adapters and problems with them. I did buy this on ebay for a cheap price, so it looks like it was too good to be true. this is a counterfit? It does have a real hologram on it.

If this is real, what else could be the problem. Has the firmware not been updated to support the 360?

EA2700v1 WPS-PIN using 5GHz does not work. This router includes WPS header in its 5GHz beacon and probe response but the router removes the WPS header from them once WPS-PIN starts. There is no problem with WPS-PIN using 2.4GHz.

I have found that if I do not enable the broadcast SSID option on my 5GHz N network that my devices will forget the network and not reconnect on their own. Yet, I have the 2.4GHz G/N network set up to not broadcast my SSID and I have no problems. Why can't I disable my SSID broadcast on the 5GHz N network without these problems?

I ended up with an RMA for a new E4200 ver. 1 and the problem I have still persists. My 2 GHZ WAP gets 65Mbp/s to its connected devices. However, the 5.4 GHZ WAP gets 48 to 54 Mbp/s only.My laptops have Windows 7 and Ubuntu. The WiFi cards are Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6200 and 6230. Both fluctuate at 48 - 54Mb/s on the the 5.4GHZ channel.
If I put it on Wireless-N only, the laptops cannot connect. I have tried AUTO detection for mhz and channels. I have tried 40mhz with channels 149 and 161 with no difference.Currently, I am operating both WAPs on different SSIDs to make sure my results are separate.Security for both WAPs is WPA2-Personal with a 10 digit sequence.

I purchased the linksys 3200 dual band router recently. I am a huge cisco and linksys supporter so for me this is disappointing. Aside from being slower at times than my previous router I am having issues with the 5Ghz wireless. My issue I am facing is it seems multiple times throughout the day the router somehow drops its 5ghz wireless ssid or its gone..not sure. The only way I can get it back up and running is to reconnect with the Cisco Connect software and re-establish the settings and then reconnect any wireless devices. This seems to happen sporadically and is insanely annoying considering this router should be a big upgrade.
It seems to me the 2.4Ghz band seems to be more stable. I am on the latest firmware for the device and I am using a 5ghz compatible wireless device to connect to it.

Why I cannot go to the 5Ghz band to utilize the superior speeds to transfer files over wireless connection between my computers? I am sure that I am still on the default 2.4 Ghz because
1) The file transfer speeds are pathetic
2) In Wireless Security, if I set the Wireless Mode to disabled for the 2.4Ghz band, Windows shows me "Unsecured Network" even with 2.4Ghz disabled.

I have an E4200v2 configured with an n-only 5GHz network and a mixed 2.4GHz network. Our MacBooks and iPad connect to the 5GHz network, and everything else (iPhones, TVs, etc) connect to the 2.4GHz network. If I disable "WMM" on the QoS screen, nothing can connect to the 5GHz network. Those same devices can connect to the 2.4GHz network, but not the 5GHz. The MacBooks, for example, get a connection timeout error, and the iPad just says "cannot connect." This doesn't seem quite right. I don't absolutely need to disable WMM, but I wanted to make sure that normal WiFi Internet traffic didn't get priority over local wired Mac->AppleTV streaming or voice calls from our wired Vonage box.

I bought an e4200 about 2 months ago. It worked perfectly for 3 weeks. Then all of the sudden, the 5ghz connection started dropping. Then it's disappeared completely and it would not show up in a network search. Then the 2.4 ghz started going crazy. I reset it completely, that didn't work. I let it sit for half a day, nothing. I sent it back to newegg and got a replacement. When the 2nd one came in, it worked fine until the next day. 5ghz cut out. I called linksys support and they were no luck. I reflashed to 1001 firmware and it mysteriously came back to normal. It was working perfect until today. 3 weeks later. 5ghz went out, and never came back. I reflashed 1001, nothing. Reset, nothing. Flashed the new 1002 firmware, nothing. 2.4ghz still kind of works, but the speed is barely 5mbps. I'm at a freaking loss right now. This was the best performing router I have tried, of all the top models available right now

I have an E4200 V2. The 2.4ghz and 5ghz bands are both enabled and named differently. From what I've read they should both show up in the list of networks when I'm connecting other computers etc? All I'm getting is the 2.4ghz.Everything on the router is working fine as far as I can tell, just can't seem to access the 5ghz band. Maybe I recently upgraded to the Smart WiFi firmware but it's the same situation. The two bands have the same password with two of the first three letters switched on one.

I just upgraded my in-laws network from a WRT54G to a E4200. It's working but I'm getting issues with the 5Ghz end. I've got both SSIDs using different names.. so its clear which I'm connecting to. I have a macbook pro which has N support and can see the 5GHz SSID.The issue I get is that when I connect to the 5Ghz SSID, the laptop cannot ping or connect to LAN clients on the 2.4GHz end. This includes SMB shares, a couple of devices with web interfaces and one machine running a VNC server. There is also issues with Internet access.. but only sometimes.
Say I have two terminals open.. one pinging Google and the other pinging one of the 2.4Ghz clients. If I connect to the 2.4Ghz SSID, I get both pings working fine. If I switch to the 5GHz SSID, the macbook gets its IP address but then the Google ping will work but the internal ping just keeps failing. The Internet issue.. looking back on the above example.. sometimes the Google ping will also fail. The mac also sometimes indicates that there is no Internet connection behind the wireless connection when this happens.
When I connect on the 5Ghz SSID, I get my LAN IP address from the router (ifconfig). I can also see the /etc / resolve.conf correctly populated on the macbook with thge gateway and DNS settings. For now, I'm just going to get them to only use the 2.4Ghz SSID and assume that a later release of the softeware will fix things.. it could be a compliance issue on the Apple/Cisco N support.

I just bought a wireless N adapter (2.4GHz and 5GHz capable), and cannot get an N connection.. On 2.4GHz it connects to G only. And on 5GHz, I don't even see the whole band to connect to it.
I've tried disabling the 5GHz band on the E3000, then even setting the 2.4GHz band to no security. I still get a G only connection. My laptop can connect to 2.4GHz and get 144Mbps N speeds.Router is at latest firmware.I've researched this online, but can't find anything concrete.

None of my wireless devices (Windows, iphones) can see the SSID from the 5ghz channel on my E2500. I have updated the firmware and reset the router to factory defaults. Still not visible. The router is set up to broadcast the SSID under wireless settings. Also, selecting "other" under iphone>settings>wifi and entering the SSID name and password gets "could not find the network (ssid)". This was working until a couple of days ago Comcast power cycled the router to make sure my cable modem was working. Now nothing.

I have read various forum postings saying to get the best performance from a wifi router you have to use channel 149 or greater and that 36-48 have a weaker signal strength and thus less range/speed.I live in New Zealand and when I select the wireless channel drop list for the 5GHz band it only lists 5 options - Auto (dfs), 36, 40, 44 and 48. I have read forum posts of people stating you should switch to 149 or greater and I have seen screenshots showing the drop list with 149 selected. But I don't have that option. If I check the Status > Wireless page it shows that channel 36 is being used (for Auto).Am I doing something wrong? Do E3000's in this part of the world not support 149 etc?I spoke in a live chat to a support rep who told me that all E3000's are the same everywhere in the world and there was little to no difference in firmware between them. I was also told that channels 36-48 are high gain channels and so there is no need for the other channels, which contradicts other articles I have read which state 36-48 are weaker channels.

Trying to convert a spare router (Linksys E3200) into a wireless access point toextend my wireless coverage. I thought knew how to do this but having a problem.Steps I followed are:1. Disable the E3200 DHCP server2. Change E3200ip address from 192.168.1.1 to something else3. Disable the firewall4.Make wireless settings5. Connect it lan port to lan port with primaryrouter. The problem I am having is that after I finish step 2 the routerreboots with the browser trying to access it at the new ip address. But thebrowser will not connect.I am doing this on a laptop that is disconnected from my network while I am working on the E3200. It is connected byan ethernet cable to an E3200 lan port. I also tried it wireless with the same result. Browser will not connect at any ip address except 192.168.1.1 and then only after I factory reset the beast to regain the 192.168.1.1 ip address

I have an e4200 set up using a trendnet TEW-684ub. Connection on 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz seems fine, but when the 5Ghz network is under load, such as running speedtest, the network drops for a second. This does not appear to happen on the 2.4Ghz network.
2.4Ghz and 5Ghz networks are set to Auto width and channel using WPA2 and I've tried raising the router up a bit to increase airflow to try to eliminate overheating as a possible issue. I'm also running the latest firmware...1.0.0.3, I believe.

I was able to connect to my 5ghz and 2.4ghz networks just fine. Now today I get a message that the connection timed out whenever I try and connect to the 5ghz. I have done a 30/30/30 reset, and still no joy. The one thing I haven't done yet is a 30/30/30 with a configuration from scratch. I will probably try that later. I've done the usual things like change the channel and all that, still no go. Other things I've done, change the network name, change the MTU, restart my machine. However, this is happening on other devices as well. The 2.4ghz network, solid as a rock.
