Recently installed a new CISCO DPC3825 and set up for wireless. I can connect to the network, signal strength excellent, but NO Internet. i have read a few threads showing similar issues, but i am getting lost when i try to troubleshoot further. i ran a command 'ipconfig/all' and got some data. I am confused also as under my network adapter it says 'media disconnected' .
View 1 RepliesI have recently purchased a new laptop (less than a week ago) and since purchase I have had the same recurring problem. Coincidentally, my wireless router is brand new also, and so it makes the situation even more difficult to eradicate. My laptop connects to the router wirelessly without a hitch, however, every five minutes or so, a small yellow exclaimation mark appears alongside the 'connection symbol' and it says there is either 'No Internet Access', or 'No Network Access', despite the fact it is connected to the wireless and has a full strength connection. However, my brother's laptop connects and surfs the web seamlessly, as well as the family desktop PC and various mobile devices. I am reluctant to return the laptop back to the store?

I have a WRT120 wireless router that works fine, but the wired connection has failed. I have restarted the modem, router and the computer and still doesn't recognize the wired connection.

Nook connects seamlessly with every other network I've tried. Had my Bro-in-law over with his Anfroid based mobile devices and they won't connect either. We currently are running 4 boxes (2 @ desktop and laptop) off this router with no problems.As near as I can figure the latest firmware update (2007) can't handle the Android OS protocol and while they recognize each other they won't speak or play nice.Any options y'all know of short of replacing the router with a shiny new one ?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI had the router working fine then last night for some reason it dropped 2-3 (all of them currently on) internet, while online.I can connect wireless just fine to the router but get no internet, when i plugged into the router directly i still go internet, but when i connect the modem directly into the laptop i get internet so it is not the modem. I have tried to reboot the router and modem to no avail.i can access the routers page wirelessly and change stuff but just don't get any internet and the signal strength is excellent.

I've clicked the checkbox for "Allow wireless signal to be repeated by a repeater" and entered my Airport's MAC Address, but my Airport Base station doesn't see it as a WDS Peer.

We have another wireless router in the upstairs which gets internet through the wall port and it works fine.We had another downstairs wireless router in the living room that was working fine as well, but I reset it for certain reasons and it no longer works properly. All the proper lights light up: internet, port, power but the computer can only connect to the network and not the internet for some reason.

1. What is the best wireless adapter to use so my other desktops will be able to access the router?
2. What is the distance of signal before I need a signal booster and if I do need to boos the signal, what is the best device to do that? (we stream video, music, light gaming and general internet applications).
I had to reboot my Dir 655 because my 2 wireless laptops wouldn't connect to the internet. Once I reset all of my static IP settings in the dlink admin tool the wireless laptops work fine. The problem now is that I can't connect to the internet on the computer that is hard wired into the router. I recall once before having to adjust the TCP/IP settings in the Network settings, but don't remember exactly what it was the I had to do.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a home network with a Linksys E4200 connected to the ISP's fiber box. The problem is that when I'm connected to the Linksys, either wired or wireless, the connection to the internet will drop after what seems to be a random amount of time (normally anywhere from 2-10 minutes). I can restore the connection by doing any of these things:-reboot Linksys-disconnect and reconnect cable from router to fiber box-if on wireless connection, make changes to the router wifi settings, like change the wifi channel.The internal network stays up, and I can ping both the internal and external ip of the router, but not the fiber box. I have also had the same behavior with an Edimax Wifi AP and less frequently with a Edimax router (once every 1-2 days). I have done everything I can think of:-changed the wifi channels-changed the ip ranges, subnets, turned router DHCP off and back on-booted the fiber box-changed cables-updated all routers to the latest firmware, the network cards with latest drivers...and loads other things that I don't remember right now. For the wifi side of things, there are no other networks in range that could interfere. The same problem occurs on both my and wife's Win 7 laptops and on the iMac (latest OSX). Here's a fun detail: while the Linksys has lost its connection to the internet, I can still access the internet through the old Edimax router connected to the same fiber box, either wired or wireless.

However, the STB services port (range of 27161-27192) will not connect through my router (linksys E4200) automatically or manually (Dtv error code 301). By connecting the receiver directly to my modem, the STB services port will connect as it should. I also have a XB360 (LAN), BluRay Player (LAN), two PCs, & Wireless Bridge connected with absolutely no issues. Each are manually configured with a static IP and the proper ports forwarded.I am STUMPED and FRUSTRATED to say the least.Other than the manual setup of these devices, my networking knowledge is not very broad.Are there any settings or configurations that I may be overlooking?The uPnP is enabled, NAT is enabled, and all firewalls are turned off.

I also have a small home network, with one other PC and a Game Console. I own a Linksys E900 Wireless-N300 Router. My problem is this. How do I share that internet connection with the rest of the home network?To the best of my knowledge its not possible to connect my mobile phone directly to my Linksys E900 Wireless-N300 Router.
So my alternative idea is to connect to the internet via one PC, set up that internet connection as "Shared." and then allow the other devices on the home network to connect thru this. I have a problem with my internet connection, I live in the university dorm and I connect the internet by wire. When I start the computer on normal mode, the internet is very slowly and sometimes disconnect, and few times just work fine ( doesn't last more than 2 minutes). however, when i put it in safe mode with networking, it works perfectly. Not sure what is the problem.

View 1 Replies View RelatedNIB DPC3825 cable modem. Called my provider and got it provisioned and its working (I'm on an ethernet connection posting this). But when I http to 192.168.0.1, I get a screen that doesn't quite look like the one in the manual. I enter the "admin" and "W2402" and click login, and the screen refreshes but nothing happens (no configuration options, only able to check status of downstream and upstream channels). Pushing the factory reset button for ten seconds to load defaults makes the lights blink and then reboots; same result as above. Pushing the wireless config button has no effect at all.

View 2 Replies View RelatedHave a v2 E1200. Connect with PPPoE to ISP. IPv4 works fine. With firmware included on router, 2.0.01, it would receive a /64 of IPv6 from the ISP. This /64 would show up under 'status' / 'local network'. Although it did not seem to advertise this space to PC's on my network so I was unable to use it. I updated firmware to 2.0.04. Now it does not even pick up the IPv6 /64 at all.
Anyone have PPPoE and IPv6 working? Anywhere I can download 2.0.01 to try it again?
Is there a model of router that actually works with IPv6?
i've connected LAN-to-LAN an E1200 to WRT54G to improve wireless coverage in the basement and, more importantly, in the can. the set up seems to work. i also have an airport express joined to the network. (the slaved router's ip is one more than the master and DHCP is off.)i'm still curious about some details of the setup for the slaved router:
-- should it have the same SSID and the master?
-- on the master router, i have WPA2 Personal and a MAC filter of allowed devices. do i need to duplicate those settings on the slave? will it obey the MAC filter and WPA2?
-- do all the routers need to be on the same channel?
-- do all the routers routers need to use the same broadband? the E1200 has N band i'd like to use with the G, if that's possible.
-- if all the routers are on the same channel and SSID, will their signals interfere with each other if they're too close?
There are 2 XBox's in the house and 1 is downstairs wired into the WRT320N Router. The upstairs XBox is running wirelessly through the router. Each of the XBox's work fine playing Modern Warfare 3, when only one is playing, but if both of us are playing, the wired connection works great, while the wireless connection is really slow and laggy. Again, the wireless XBox runs fine as long as the wired XBox isn't also playing MW3.

But when I try to connect to the DLink switch, the modem freezes, and doesn't recognize it. My previous setup was modem, to my DLink router (DIR 615), to my switch. View 1 Replies View RelatedAs of two days ago my DIR-655 seems to have stopped loading webpages every 10-30minutes for periods of up to 5-15 minutes, as in they the reloading icon will constantly be circling and the webpage remains blank, no error or anything until it says failed to load on my web browser (tried multiple browsers such as Safari, Chrome, IE and Firefox). This problem occurs on every computer on my network, laptops (both Mac and PC) and desktops. When this problem occurs all lights on modem and router seem to be normal no signs of anything going down but I originally thought that this affected wired and wireless but I seem to have narrowed it to culprit being the wireless. When connected to the PC I can browse for an indefinite amount of time without the webpages failing to respond, however when I connected to WiFi through Airport on a Macbook Air my webpages start to begin failing to load around 5-10 minutes of browsing which affects all computers connected to the network (essentially all computers failing to respond to the internet during this outage).
Interestingly when this problem occurs, if I am connected to Skype or Aim it will stay connected and I can still chat with people but I will not be able to sign onto AIM if the problem occurs before I sign on and I try to sign on during the outage. If I am streaming a video from justin.tv or ustream it still continues to stream during this "outage".I have the revB of the DIR-655 and have tried resetting the modem, turning off the firewall, upgrading firmware to 2.03NA from 2.01NA and setting the MTU to 1400 (default 1500) with nothing working. I am using Time Warner Wideband ISP and have connected the modem directly to my PC and for the 30minutes or so that I tested the web browsing it seemed fine and did not have any errors.
I am looking to permanently reset the default remote management port of the MODEM DPC3825 to something other than 8080. how to PERMANENTLY change the port from 8080? In the web interface under administration I have several times set it to something else other than the defaulted 8080 but when the modem is rebooted or reset, it goes back to the default 8080.

I had Windows XP installed on this machine first because it is 10 years old and I wasn't sure how well it would work with Windows 7. I decided to test out Windows 7 a few months after using Windows XP on here and noticed the wireless network was started right when Windows 7 loaded, where as in Windows XP it can take anywhere from 1-3 minutes for the wireless network to load. In this 1-3 minute time frame on Windows XP any browser or attempted connection to the internet 'hangs' and does not display a time out, it just continues to try and connect until the wireless icon finally shows in the taskbar
