I have a Netgear WPN824 v2 wireless router. The router login page has become horribly slow recently but the rest of the network seems unaffected. Some times the page doesn't even load all the way or properly, such as with a standard font and options missing.
View 4 RepliesI've been experiencing some problems with my RangeMax wireless NETGEAR router (model WPN824) in terms of wireless connectivity. When directly plugged into my router (i.e. using ethernet cables), the download and upload speed (in mbps - megabytes per second) appear to be working correctly, where we register average download speeds of 15-19 mbps, and 1.99 to 2.07 mbps for upload speeds, as shown on speedtest.net. However, our wireless devices (i.e. laptops and Nintendo Wii) are not picking up the same download speeds, but the upload speed is fine. The problem is that the download speeds of the wireless devices are comparatively low, where speeds of 2.5 to 5.5 mbps are a commonality.
We've tried resetting the router (pushing that small button at the back of the router, using a pin) and have a new 10-character key password. We've also tried simply unlugging the power cable to the router, with disconnecting lengths of about 10 seconds to over a minute for separate attempts. It is also worth noting that the router occasionally disconnects and re-connects on irregular intervals, and we have many wireless devices attached to the router (though many of these are not in use and are very often disconnected from the internet, so I do not think the router is being overwhelmed).
I am currently paying for 30 mbps downloading speed and 2 mbps with respect to uploading, though the 30 mbps downloading speed will likely only be registered if directly connected to the black box (modem). As such, values of 10 to 18 mbps for downloading speed for a wireless device would be considered "normal". Why would our wireless devices not pick the correct mbps download speed? Is it possible that there is a setting on the NETGEAR SMARTWIZARD page (192.168.1.1) that is preventing this?
My router stopped working today after I tried updating its firmware. I have tried to hard reset the router but it just won't broadcast a signal. Is there any hardware problems related to this or are there any other ways to reset it?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using a Netgear Rangemax Wpn824 with comcast cable internet. This problem happened also on an older router but less frequent with this one.
I don't know if this is a common problem but I cannot seem to find it on the web and thought I would ask here. The problem seems to only happen after someone restarts their computer.
What happens is 9/10 times on startup the internet will connect just fine but the 10% of the time it will say "Unable to connect to Shaun" (my wireless router) Sometimes if we restart the computer it will fix itself but usually we have to reset the router and it will fix itself and wont happen again for another couple of weeks.
I called comcast about it and their tech support said it was a router issue, that's when I put in my newer one (the rangemax) and its still happening. We even upgraded the comcast modem recently too, and since it fixes itself when I reset the router I don't doubt its the router.
I can't seem to update the firmware on it, not sure if that will work. (It says not enough memory to complete) Should I buy a new router?

View 2 Replies View RelatedA couple of days ago I bought a new desktop PC (Here is the link if anybody wants info on the PC [URL] but anyway, I'll get to my problem. My wireless router is downstairs in the living room and my desktop PC is upstairs in the bedroom. Theoretically, My PC's wireless card should be able to reach the router perfectly, being as I have several other PC's in the house that I use from my bedroom and the connection is 'Very Good' to 'Excellent'. Although with this new computer the connection's strength is very weak and it's so slow using the internet or trying to download things. It's internet is almost unusable. I've tried swapping the wireless card, but to avail. The connection is still awful.
Or of a way to boost the signal of my wireless card?

I have a problem with my internet connection, I live in the university dorm and I connect the internet by wire. When I start the computer on normal mode, the internet is very slowly and sometimes disconnect, and few times just work fine ( doesn't last more than 2 minutes). however, when i put it in safe mode with networking, it works perfectly. Not sure what is the problem.

I've had the computer for 5 years, and have always connected to the internet using wireless with no problem. Just moved to a new place, don't have a router yet, and now when I try to connect via the ethernet cable my internet is sooo slow, taking about a minute to load a page. My roommate's computer runs great using the ethernet.

I contacted my ISP and they said everything on their side is fine, so it has to be on my side.What can cause this? I've checked for Malware but the fact that both the tablet and Laptop has slow internet points to the router. I also flushed my DNS on my laptop and booted into safemode with networking, internet still ridiculously slow.Note, both the laptop and tablet travel with me and did connect to other networks sometimes.

I have 3 other laptops that can connect perfectly with my router, and normally there's only 1 laptop that is connected to my router. The laptop with the slow connection (takes 5 HOURS to load a website, sometimes will not even load), i re-installed the OS, and installed all the drivers needed, and it still wont work. it shows strong connection to me, and im sure the password for the router is right. below is the ipconfig/all information. View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded my wireless router to a Netgear R6300 and have had no problem with the wireless speeds,35mbps down and 6mbps up according to speedtest.net. I experience similar speeds from my direct wired connection as well but I am having an issue with my speeds running through my Linksys PLE300 powerline adapter I am getting speeds of 4mbps down and 6mbps up. My PC is running Vista Home Premium SP2 (I know). Prior to the upgrade I was using a Netgear N600 and I was getting much faster speeds through the powerline. My NIC is a Intel 82566DC -2gigabit. I checked all the cables, I am using a CAT6 from router to Powerline and when I run router stats it shows WAN as 1000M/full and LAN1 (powerline) as 100M/Full.

There is no WiFi, just 2 ethernet ports per room I own multiple wireless devices, so wifi is basically a must, but with a wireless router the connection is too slow to even play xbox live. I have 2 computers that both use the exact same router. The thing is, computer A seems to have major lag issues. I did a shaw speedtest on my computer, most of the time it gives me error messages when trying to scan. On comp B, everything is as it should be.Everything on comp A was working fine last night, and now today i cant even watch a youtube video.

I am pretty sure its the router. we use mediacom for internet and get at least 20 mbs. oh and the slowest xbox is run with a ethernet cable so its not a wifi issue with that one.

I had Windows XP installed on this machine first because it is 10 years old and I wasn't sure how well it would work with Windows 7. I decided to test out Windows 7 a few months after using Windows XP on here and noticed the wireless network was started right when Windows 7 loaded, where as in Windows XP it can take anywhere from 1-3 minutes for the wireless network to load. In this 1-3 minute time frame on Windows XP any browser or attempted connection to the internet 'hangs' and does not display a time out, it just continues to try and connect until the wireless icon finally shows in the taskbar

They were on the phone with tech support from their service provider and "had them reset the modem." This is basically all I could get as they are not very tech oriented.
From what I gathered: The modem and the router are not communicating with each other. The modem is a Motorola ADSL single port Ethernet modem, and the router is a Netgear Rangemax wireless router WPN824 v3 with the modem connected via the uplink port on the router. Whenever the ethernet cable to the PC is plugged directly into the modem, there is a connection. I exhausted my entire networking knowledge trying to figure out what could be causing this.
The laptops in my flat are wirelessly connected to a Netgear N150 Wireless router and the connection is forever going from little to nothing. I've tried resetting everything, getting Orange to replace the router (a new Netgear N150) but still nothing. I've tried changing channels in the past but never seems to last. I can't work out if another wireless router in another flat is chomping into our connection

We have another wireless router in the upstairs which gets internet through the wall port and it works fine.We had another downstairs wireless router in the living room that was working fine as well, but I reset it for certain reasons and it no longer works properly. All the proper lights light up: internet, port, power but the computer can only connect to the network and not the internet for some reason.

it works, but it is slow in copying files between my computer and it (8 minutes to copy 7.94 gig file between NAS and my PC via wire).
i am using netgear WNDR3700 gigabit router. replaced the network wires to the latest spec, and my computer has realtek PCIe GBE network adapter.
this is looking more and more like the NAS RAID 1 is the bottleneck.. possibly 7200 RPM drives would have kicked more ass?
As of two days ago my DIR-655 seems to have stopped loading webpages every 10-30minutes for periods of up to 5-15 minutes, as in they the reloading icon will constantly be circling and the webpage remains blank, no error or anything until it says failed to load on my web browser (tried multiple browsers such as Safari, Chrome, IE and Firefox). This problem occurs on every computer on my network, laptops (both Mac and PC) and desktops. When this problem occurs all lights on modem and router seem to be normal no signs of anything going down but I originally thought that this affected wired and wireless but I seem to have narrowed it to culprit being the wireless. When connected to the PC I can browse for an indefinite amount of time without the webpages failing to respond, however when I connected to WiFi through Airport on a Macbook Air my webpages start to begin failing to load around 5-10 minutes of browsing which affects all computers connected to the network (essentially all computers failing to respond to the internet during this outage).
Interestingly when this problem occurs, if I am connected to Skype or Aim it will stay connected and I can still chat with people but I will not be able to sign onto AIM if the problem occurs before I sign on and I try to sign on during the outage. If I am streaming a video from justin.tv or ustream it still continues to stream during this "outage".I have the revB of the DIR-655 and have tried resetting the modem, turning off the firewall, upgrading firmware to 2.03NA from 2.01NA and setting the MTU to 1400 (default 1500) with nothing working. I am using Time Warner Wideband ISP and have connected the modem directly to my PC and for the 30minutes or so that I tested the web browsing it seemed fine and did not have any errors.
Recently installed a new CISCO DPC3825 and set up for wireless. I can connect to the network, signal strength excellent, but NO Internet. i have read a few threads showing similar issues, but i am getting lost when i try to troubleshoot further. i ran a command 'ipconfig/all' and got some data. I am confused also as under my network adapter it says 'media disconnected' .

I have tried to reboot the router and modem to no avail.i can access the routers page wirelessly and change stuff but just don't get any internet and the signal strength is excellent.
