Slow Internet With New Netgear R6300 And Powerline?

Jan 3, 2013

I recently upgraded my wireless router to a Netgear R6300 and have had no problem with the wireless speeds,35mbps down and 6mbps up according to speedtest.net. I experience similar speeds from my direct wired connection as well but I am having an issue with my speeds running through my Linksys PLE300 powerline adapter I am getting speeds of 4mbps down and 6mbps up. My PC is running Vista Home Premium SP2 (I know). Prior to the upgrade I was using a Netgear N600 and I was getting much faster speeds through the powerline. My NIC is a Intel 82566DC -2gigabit. I checked all the cables, I am using a CAT6 from router to Powerline and when I run router stats it shows WAN as 1000M/full and LAN1 (powerline) as 100M/Full.

Netgear R6300 - Added New LAN Cards / No Internet Access On One Computer?

Dec 6, 2012

I have 3 computers wired to a Netgear R6300. Two of those computers (both running XP SP 3) I added new LAN Gigabit Cards (Tenda TEL9901G) . One recognized the card right away and had no issue connecting to the Internet (using this computer now). The other shows a 1.0 Gbps connection but I can not get any web pages to come up. I can access other computers and devices on the network without an issue on the computer that doesn't connect to the Internet.

If I type in the web address it says "Server Not Found." If I type in the IP address it will come up with the name of the site in the address bar but it still says "Server Not Found." I've tried several times to unplug the router and modem (Motorola Surfboard) and restart everything but the problem was still there. Also, I tried other Ethernet cables and no change. The LAN card drivers are up to date but I don't think the card is the issue since I swapped the new cards (to see if the card was the problem) and it does show a 1.0 Gbps connection. Also, tried uninstall/reinstall, disable/enable the card many times.I didn't change any setting in the router after installing the cards. Here is the ipconfig output:

Linksys Access Point :: Difference Between Wumc710 And Netgear R6300

Feb 16, 2013

I´ve recently purchased a Netgear r6300 and a wifi ac bridge (Linksys wumc710) When hooking up my Readynas Pro to the r6300 via the wumc710 I only get transfer rates at max 8MB/s. That´s not very impressive, and even with the bridge located within 10 feet of the router, no walls in between. What am I doing wrong? I´ve set the MTU on the Readynas and the r6300 to 1500.When doing a wired test between the r6300 and the Readynas Pro I can copy a file from the Nas to desktop at approx 80-100MB/s, but with wireless ac via the wumc710 only at 4-8MB/s.

R6300 Slow Transfer Speeds To Home Server From HTPC

Oct 4, 2012

[code] Wireless transfer from HTPC to Windows Home Server peak at 8-9 MB/sec. Note that my WHS and my Winn7 Gaming rig are both on the same physical switch, but the same exact wireless file transfer from my HTPC to Windows 7 gaming rig hits consistent 35-40 MB/sec, 4x faster and which is what I expect. Wired transfer of same 4GB test file directly from gaming rig to WHS tops over 100MB/sec so it is not a problem with the WHS writing to disk or wiring. So the question is, what could possibly be bottle-necking my upload from HTPC only to the Home Server? I have tested a Netgear R6300 with the same results as the Asus router.

Netgear Powerline Adapter Not Working With AMD Llano HTPC

Jan 4, 2012

I have a NETGEAR XAVB101 Powerline AV Ethernet Adapter and an AMD Llano build HTPC which refuses to work with each other. The power plug works well with my Gateway NV79 laptop and even my Intel Core i5 -2500K desktop, without any problems! I have also used it to connect to my Roku, Yamaha Network Receiver and other networked stuff and all worked great, just the HTPC seems to have issues connecting to the network! The HTPC is AMD A6-3650 on a ECS FM1 A75 Mobo with Integrated Realtek RTL8111E Gigabit Ethernet Controller, which is what I am connecting the power plug to! Only the connection over the power line adapter does not work, it works great with both a connection directly from the router and with wireless!

The adapter has a 128 bit encryption push button security feature which I'm NOT using. When I connect it the HTPC tries to connect and fails and shows the network as connected to an unidentified network. My LAN drivers on the computer is all up-to-date.

Does Mixed Powerline AV 500 And 200 Network Slow Down 500 Nodes

Aug 30, 2011

I have two netgear powerline AV 500 ethernet adapters that give me near ideal internet access on my media computer (FIOS 25/25mpbs tests out at 8ms 25.4/24.7) and perhaps 100-140mbps to my router, printer, drive, etc. I now want to add a few wifi points and instead of having the mess of a powerline adapter + a wifi router I think it will be neater to have an all in one solution. Most of the ones that I find are 200mbps, however. I know that 500 is backwards compatible, but will a mixed solution slow everything down like it can for a mixed wireless g/n network?

Slow Internet On PC And Tablet Via Netgear Router

Nov 13, 2012

I have a Netgear Router at home, and both my Laptop and Tablet connect to it via WiFi. Now on both the Laptop and Tablet, Internet has recently become VERY slow. I contacted my ISP and they said everything on their side is fine, so it has to be on my side. What can cause this? I've checked for Malware but the fact that both the tablet and Laptop has slow internet points to the router. I also flushed my DNS on my laptop and booted into safemode with networking, internet still ridiculously slow.Note, both the laptop and tablet travel with me and did connect to other networks sometimes.

Powerline Twin Packs Provide Way To Connect 2 Things At Once To Internet

Aug 24, 2011

Do these powerline "twin packs" provide a way to connect 2 things at once to the internet, or does that require 3 adapters? I'm assuming one connects to my router, then one to my PC. I'd like to connect my Xbox and my PC on the same network (Though they're in the same room), is this something that can be done with a "twin pack"?I've looked around a bit, and it would seem the twin packs allow you to connect one to your router, and one to your PC/Xbox etc. If this is true, then the single packs just provide an "extra" one, should you need to connect in more places. I've also seen some 4 port adapters, but these seem expensive, and I would have to buy a 4 port adapter, and a single port adapter for my router?

Netgear N600 / Multiple Devices Slow Down?

Apr 28, 2012

I just got a Nook Color as a gift (nice huh?) I just bought my iPad2 in Jan. So now I've got Comcast cable with a Netgear N600 router and:

1 desktop Win XP sp3 plugged into router
1 desktop Win 7 usb wireless
1 HP laptop w/ Vista
2 Dell old laptops Win XP not used much
Sony PS3 not on much
iPad2 always on
Nook Color
AND a Roku always on

I think that's all. So I'm guessing all this will slow down my whole connection? My iPad is the fastest. My Nook is extremely slow. Maybe it's the B&N website? When I go to shop and even when I registered it, it says connection having trouble. I finally had to setup my account at BN with my desktop. The Nook wouldn't stay connected.

I was getting disconnects from the WIFI router on a continual basis. I decided to put the router back to factory settings, did the pin reset etc, did a full setup and now we have this slow connect issue ALTHOUGH I never get a disconnect if I once get connected. Just seems to take forever to get it to connect.I've looked at conflicting IP's, no avail, seems fine. As mentioned, like the iphones connect almost instantly. The HP laptop connects fast (windows 7) but the asus now isn't happy.

Netgear WPN824 Mbps Download Speed Is Very Slow?

Sep 11, 2012

I've been experiencing some problems with my RangeMax wireless NETGEAR router (model WPN824) in terms of wireless connectivity. When directly plugged into my router (i.e. using ethernet cables), the download and upload speed (in mbps - megabytes per second) appear to be working correctly, where we register average download speeds of 15-19 mbps, and 1.99 to 2.07 mbps for upload speeds, as shown on speedtest.net. However, our wireless devices (i.e. laptops and Nintendo Wii) are not picking up the same download speeds, but the upload speed is fine. The problem is that the download speeds of the wireless devices are comparatively low, where speeds of 2.5 to 5.5 mbps are a commonality.

We've tried resetting the router (pushing that small button at the back of the router, using a pin) and have a new 10-character key password. We've also tried simply unlugging the power cable to the router, with disconnecting lengths of about 10 seconds to over a minute for separate attempts. It is also worth noting that the router occasionally disconnects and re-connects on irregular intervals, and we have many wireless devices attached to the router (though many of these are not in use and are very often disconnected from the internet, so I do not think the router is being overwhelmed).

I am currently paying for 30 mbps downloading speed and 2 mbps with respect to uploading, though the 30 mbps downloading speed will likely only be registered if directly connected to the black box (modem). As such, values of 10 to 18 mbps for downloading speed for a wireless device would be considered "normal". Why would our wireless devices not pick the correct mbps download speed? Is it possible that there is a setting on the NETGEAR SMARTWIZARD page (192.168.1.1) that is preventing this?

Netgear Wall - Plugged Ethernet Adapter Is Extremely Slow

May 11, 2011

I have a problem concerning my Netgear XET1001 85 MBit/s Wall-Plugged Ethernet Adapter. My personal computer in my room is connected directly to our router and I'm getting arround 14-15Mbps download speeds. My parents computer is located in a different room and I bought them the Netgear Adapter thinking this was the most effective and simplest solution. Better than a Wifi-Adapter. I cost me quite a lot too to be honest. The problem is my parents are getting speeds of 0.05Mbps and the browser often doesn't even load the pages completely. To me it seems like the data can only travel through the thing very hardly if at all.

We thought this might have to do with the age and RAM of our computer. (512MB of RAM) So we bought a new one a couple of days ago. Turns out: nothing has changed.

The Wall-Pluggs are connected directly to the outlet by the way. I'm trying to give you the most amount of information I can think of so one more thing might be important. Yesterday I brought my parent's PC into my room, connected it to the Wall-Plugg and got speeds of 5Mbps. Although this is better, it's not what I bought this thing for. Even a WIFI connection would be faster would'nt it?

Upload Speeds Extremely Slow Using Netgear FVS336G Dual WAN Router On Comcast

May 22, 2011

Download speeds, per speedtest.net and speakeasy, are about 20mbps.When the speed test gets to the upload part, it usually hangs or takes a long time before giving me a result of about 0.04mbps. Basically, it's so slow, it sometimes just gives up and times out. This translates into a real shoddy internet experience because something as simple as choosing airline tickets requires your computer to "upload" your choices. And of course, if that doesn't happen within a certain amount of time... Timeout! I have tested the connection without my Netgear FVS336G Dual WAN router in the way and it is much better so I'm certain it's the router. When I tell the router to use WAN 2, which is where my AT&T DSL connection is on, the upload works just fine (about .4 mbps - I'm provisioned at 512kbps so it's fine). Also, this is the case on ALL computers on the network - wired, wireless, PC, Mac, iPhone, iPad, you name it. So, it's definitely not device specific.

I have a Netgear N600 WNDR3700v1 Dual Band Gigabit router and am having a problem with the wired connection with my PC. Everything wireless in the house works fine. In fact, I also have a Direct TV box hooked up for on demand and a sling box hooked up (both wired) and they work find. It's just my PC that is having issues. If I bypass the router and hook straight into the modem, it runs fine also so I have something going on between the router and this PC. I updated the NIC driver and this did not work. Before the update in the device manager, it said it was a NIVIDA nForce Network Controller (if I remember right) and now it says NIVIDA nForce 10/100 Mpbs Ethernet. It was suggested that I change my speed and duplex to match the router after I update but I am unsure what to change it to.
