Just finally updated my ancient belkin modem to a Netgear D3600WiFi modem router which works really well. However. I have a old G5 Mac without wireless so have always connected through my old belkin modem with Powerline adapters over my house wiring circuit:confused. Unfortunately the powerline adapters no longer work although both lights are flickering on the units. Netgear say they should work.

I have two powerline adapters of teh same type (bought in a kit). The user manual says "plug them in and they will recognise each other". Well I did, and they don't. I tried plugging in computer to the far one via ethernet cable, and my wireless internet router to the near one by ethernet cable, and I cant get Internet on the far computer. It does get internet through a wireless dongle on the far computer, so Internet is definitely working. but when wirless dongle is out, no Net..So how do I know what is going on in this closed system of the powerline adapters? Should I be able to see the network on the main ("near") computer next to the Internet wirless router? it runs Windows 7.

All of my devices connect fine to it except for the desktop that is using an external Linksys wireless adapter (WUSB54AG).The desktop is running Windows XP (Home Edition) SP3.The latest driver for the adapter has been installed (3.0.18.0).I am able to connect if security on the router is turned OFF.The router has 3 security options:
1) WPA-PSK (TKIP)
2) WPA2-PSK (AES)
3) WPA-PSk (TKIP) + WPA2-PSK (AES)
My understanding (from Linksys tech support) is that the device SHOULD be able to connect using WPA-PSK (TKIP). My Linksys Monitor indicates that the device is connected to the access point but not the internet (when I used WPA-PSK (TKIP). The IP address that is assigned is 169.254.3.129 and not the expected 192.168.1.x.When I turn security OFF on the router, the device can connect and I am assigned a "good" IP address (192.168.1.x).
I recently factory restored my new PC and we also got a new Virgin Media Superhub (Super Fast - My dad is getting download speeds of up to 4mb/s) but I tried using my powerline adapter thingy and I am getting crappy speeds and it says I am connected to a homegroup, and not my internet like it used too.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am looking at using a TP-Link Powerline Adapter (TL-PA211 Starter Kit) and a Trendnet 4-Port Broadband Router Tw100-S4@1CA (both listed on Amazon) to connect my Hitachi L32A402 HDMI television and a Roku XD|S to the internet to use Netflix. And also to connect my housemate's new laptop.
I believe the setup would be from my Dell Vostro desktop to the Trendnet router to one of the TP-Link Powerline Adapters. This would be on the second floor. Then in the basement I would need to plug in two additional adapters ... I would connect one to the Roku and then to the Hitachi tv and connect the other one to my housemate's computer.
My questions are:
Can I keep the computers not visible to each other? We would both like to maintain our privacy ... and I don't know if we connect everything up this way if our computers will be open to each other. Is this called putting them on a separate network?
I saw something in the documentation in this manual [URL]. I think on page 20 it is telling me I can give one adapter a different name to put it on another network, but I am not sure. And I also see that it also says for there to be connectivity they need to have all the same name "HomePlugAV".
So, if the tv and the main adapter have "HomePlugAV" as a name, and my housemate's adapter has a different name ... then they will all work (get on the internet) - but my housemate and I will have privacy?
Are there any issues about anyone being able to access my computer through the tv ...

View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded my wireless router to a Netgear R6300 and have had no problem with the wireless speeds,35mbps down and 6mbps up according to speedtest.net. I experience similar speeds from my direct wired connection as well but I am having an issue with my speeds running through my Linksys PLE300 powerline adapter I am getting speeds of 4mbps down and 6mbps up. My PC is running Vista Home Premium SP2 (I know). Prior to the upgrade I was using a Netgear N600 and I was getting much faster speeds through the powerline. My NIC is a Intel 82566DC -2gigabit. I checked all the cables, I am using a CAT6 from router to Powerline and when I run router stats it shows WAN as 1000M/full and LAN1 (powerline) as 100M/Full.

I've had Powerline PLE/S 300 setup for a couple years I think working perfectly. I it set up because my house is VERY solidly built and the G wireless cannot reach even the second room down the hall.
I recently got a wireless device and couldn't keep connection in the living room so I was going to add an access point and futzed with the router and everything went down. I got the router back up, disconnected the access point for good, but the Powerlines wouldn't connect. I upgraded the firmware then reset them and finally got Number 1 and Number two powerline online and working. But the farthest point (router at back of house, media at front) is the living room and none of the powerline boxes will work ON THE MEDIA.
I plug in the powerline and the home light comes up, I attached my laptop out there and I connected fine, then I connect one of the media players - the Xbox, apple or blue ray - and the home light goes out media will not connect and the laptop is knocked off. It does this every time now, same media players that worked perfectly before.
I bought a new router (Linksys E4200), wondering if the old just didn't have the signal strength and set that up very easily and the same thing happened - no powerlines work on the media in the living room. Mind you, I did take Apple to a closer room and hook it up to a powerline and it works!
As my Xbox died on one my attempts to plug it in to the powerline. So new xbox cannot connect either. I used to connect from xbox to the pc media center to watch recorded tv and this cannot be done wirelessly, even with the new dual band N router AND a new extender!

However several days passed and I started to notice the speed was decreasing; because I have HughesNet (I hate it) I thought this was the ISP's fault and called them and they said my speed had not gone down. During the day, the signal is fine and is at full bars and the speeds are OK. During the evening/night hours the connection becomes faulty and the laptop will disconnect from the network altogether. If I plug the ethernet cable directly into the router, the speed is OK also. I have taken the security off the connection to see if it will make any difference; it doesn't. I don't know if I need to buy a new router or what. I know my way around computers and routers (not entirely though) and I cannot figure it out. I have 2 laptops with Windows Vista both with home Premium.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI am attempting to upload some files to my school server will Filezilla. It worked the very first time I attempted to do this. A box popped up and read something like, " The key is unknown, this may not be the computer you think it is", there was a check box asking to approve this server and save the key. I ticked this box and everything was fine, it was connected. I disconnected from the server and went back an hour later to upload something and got this message when attempting to connect, "server has unexpectedly closed network connection", then, "unable to connect". I get it every single time I try to do this from home. However, I have been able to connect everywhere else but my house. I can connect with the same computer from my friends wireless at his house, and from the wireless at work, all from the same computer that will not connect at home. I have also tried different operating system, Ubuntu, and nothing same error message. I have reinstalled the program, and tried other programs,,nothing. I have also deleted that key in the registry, from the check box earlier. At home it does not have that pop up saying " the key is unknown" anymore, even after deleting the key. Yet it does from all the other locations. I do not check it from anywhere else from fear that this will happen everywhere and then I can use it at all. The only difference I can see in these situations is my router, as my friend uses the same ISP, and the same computer was used from each location.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased the WET610N Wireless Bridge to use with my Samsung BD-P1590 Blu-Ray Player. The player has a few built in apps that include Netflix, Bockbuster, Pandora and YouTube. I successfully setup the bridge and hooked it up to the blu-ray player. It wasn't that hard. All the internet apps on the player work fine except Netflix. The first time I use the netfix app, it is supposed to give me a code that I use to register the device with netflix. However, I get a message that Netflix is temporarily unavailable. I have called netflix and they assure me that this is not the case and that it is most likely my wireless setup. The troubleshooting on Samsungs website points to the same thing. With that said, I disconnected the player from the wireless bridge and wired it directly to my router. Netflix works just fine then. Below is a list of things I have attempted:Disable the firewall on the router to see if it was blocking the app. (had the same results)Checked my firmware on all my devices (they are all current)Powered down all my devices and started them up back up starting with my DSL modem and ending with he blu-ray player (same results)Configured the bridge and player to use a static IP vs using the IPs automatically assigned by the router. (same results)Disabled aggregation on all WMM categories. I don't think the WRV54G router supports aggregation,, so I though this might cause a conflict with my setup. (same results)Enabled the broadcasting of SSID (same results)Chatted with linksys support. They basically checked to see if I had the latest firmware and that the bridge was working. They then recommended that I exchange the bridge for a new one. (I have not exchanged it for a new one yet, just because I am not convinced that there isn't something else wrong with my setup)My Configuration

I am not sure if the problem lies with the routewr or the bridge. I am hoping someone out there can confirm that the WET610N truly does work whne using it with a BD-P1590 blu-ray player. This would lead me to believe that there is something wrong with my configuration or with using it combination with my older router. I would like to note also, that I have had one instance where BD Live didn't work. However, it has worked on other disks.
My belkin 54G was working few years now. Just hours ago, I try to connect my iphone 3GS with belkin wifi. I go to the 192.168.2.1 (on my laptop - wifi), MAC address filtering and enable it. After insert my iphone 3gs ip address i press OK.
Here's the nightmare begin, after minutes. My internet connection is not working both on my laptop (wifi working but not internet) and the PC facing problem on internet connection. i try login again 192.168.2.1, hoping can restore it but it fail to load the page.

6. to my disappointment, 192.168.2.1 still not working. can't enter it's web interface.
I recently replaced a Linksys wireless router with a Netgear wireless router(provided by Comcast) to the modem in my house. I used my HP Pavilion as the computer to run the setup disk and the wireless wizard to link the new router to the modem. I unplugged my HP from the router and proceeded to setup my computer on the wireless network.

It detects wireless networks still but cannot connect.
Will not connect to the internet wired or wirelessly. It does turn on however. Not ISP or modem, because when comp is plugged in directly to the cable modem, internet connection works fine. I'm using a Comcast cable connection.

View 4 Replies View RelatedThe setup: My main router is a Belkin N. It is the DHCP controller. I have another Belkin N router connected by CAT5/RJ45, and DHCP is turned off. Each router has a different SSID, and WPA2//AES/TKIP is the security. The purpose of the second router is to act as an access point and extend the wireless range. Now I need to extend it further, but without through wireless. I had a G bridge connected to the second Belkin, and it in turn connected to a third router which was G. This worked but was sporadic. I bought an Amped SR150 N repeater to replace the bridge and third router.The repeater will connect to the second router with no problem. It shows the IP of the main router as the gateway IP. The laptop that the repeater is connected to then received an IP from the main router. However, the laptop has no internet. It also will not go to the IP of the main router.I tested the repeater by connecting it to the main router. That works fine, and the laptop gets internet. I tested the second router capability by connecting the laptop to it through wireless. That works fine to, and the laptop can go to the home page of both the main and second router. When I put the repeater back into the mix, the laptop does the same tihng: It gets a new IP from the main router, but no internet, and it will not go to the homepage of the main router.

All of the lights where active and it seemed everything was in order.Because the power cord was in the way I moved it and plugged it into a different powerpoint. From then onwards my router has not been working. Only three of seven lights are active (green).
